The goal of any human being is attracting positive force into our negative world; then, using both forces, we rise and sense a completely different universe, a “reverse” world. It gives the sense of infinity, eternity, and wholeness of existence.
This is the upper world in which a human being dwells. Baal HaSulam describes a just and happy society, to which we will come sooner or later.
Question: What kind of communism does Baal HaSulam talk about when he says that human society will eventually reach communism? We don’t want to scare our listeners off; or maybe we should frighten them? In any case, what particularly does Baal HaSulam talk about when it comes to communism?
Answer: Baal HaSulam talks about society in its final state, when people no longer work for money. Each person will receive from their community— I am not sure whether we should call this kind of a communal structure “a state” – everything they need. At the same time, each member of the society has to be brought up in a way that they are not willing to “grab” more than they really need to exist. People won’t care about themselves; rather, the society will make every effort to understand the requirements of its members and provide them with everything they need.
The work of each individual will imply one’s willingness to correctly connect with others and produce things that are essential for the society.
Question: What is the purpose of this kind of production?
Answer: It’s very easy! To give our “animal” nature everything it necessities, not more and not less. If you feed a cow cake, it won’t eat it.
Comment: A cow would be sick if it ate cake.
Answer: A normal cow won’t even try a cake. Everyone should receive exactly what one needs.
This level of community interaction can be achieved only through correct education that happens parallel to all other social changes. Not sooner, not later!
Question: Education is about changing an individual, isn’t it?
Answer: Yes, it’s true. The main thing is to have people reach a state where they are connected with others to a degree that they do not feel a difference between themselves and the others, when their personal “I” and general “we” become completely equal.
Sensory egoism that separates us will vanish. All of a sudden, I begin sensing others as myself. In fact, we will sense everything that happens at the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels as well as in all material human bodies as our own individual organism.
Question: What do I get from this?
Answer: It gives me a sensation of infinity, eternity, and wholeness of existence.
Question: Is it interesting and exciting to be in such a state?
Answer: No, it’s not what interests me. What really matters is that I start sensing the world as a whole, not a fragmented structure. I feel that the world is endless in time, space, and movement. This is what we call the upper world. A human being that exists in this material world should not be considered human at all. Rather, it is just a highly organized and totally uncorrected animal.
The Torah, “Leviticus,” 24:10 – 24:16: And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and the son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp. And the son of the Israelitish woman blasphemed the Name, and cursed; and they brought him unto Moses. And his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. And they put him in ward, that it might be declared unto them at the mouth of the LORD.
And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying: Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin. And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him; as well the stranger, as the home-born, when he blasphemeth the Name, shall be put to death.
“He that blasphemeth the name of the LORD,” is a person who delays advancement towards the goal of creation, by cutting himself off and detaching from the Upper Light, which is ready to correct him, so his ego can no longer be corrected.
Thus, he “shall surely be put to death,” which is losing any connection with the Upper Light, and not moving on. In the future, it will need a cycle of life to come back to this state and regain the opportunity for ascent and correction.
Question: What does, “And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel” mean?
Answer: Thanks to a precise and sharp correction, we begin to discover defects in the people, who previously weren’t noticed. So now it is necessary to correct them.
In other words, stoning and other methods of death symbolize the death of the egoistic desire in a person, which must somehow be nullified and then again begin to correct it.

Today hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East are closing in on Europe, and tomorrow there will be an earthquake somewhere in India and waves of millions of people will surge towards the north from there.
We see that the situation can change very rapidly. Previously it seemed to us that the migration of a mass of people from place to place like this requires long and careful planning. And suddenly we have become witness to how tens and hundreds of thousands of people are rising like a tsunami wave coming from the ocean towards the beach.
Our world is changing before our eyes. We are found within an intensely powerful stream, a stream that drags all of humanity after it and draws it further and further downward relative to the former standard of living that existed, but along with this it is building and giving birth to some kind of new level.
As a result, we are feeling how we are falling into an abyss and the whole world that we are used to is being demolished, the previous life destroyed. However, with this, a new life is being born.
It is necessary to uncover these two trends to understand by what means this drama of the century can be expressed: The destruction and death of the old world and the birth within it of the new world.
That is what always happens in nature and it cannot be otherwise. As long as the previous generation hasn’t died, the new generation will not be born. That is how the seasons also change. There are some who consider what is happening to be death but I see new life. Let’s not think about what was and has died, but about the new that is about to be born.
Humanity is now in the process of labor; this is how it is emerging from the birth canal, through the narrowest passage that is crushing us from all directions. Labor is pushing us from behind and drawing us from the front, obligating us to move incessantly. We are present for the birth of a new level, a new state of humanity.
Through the course of history there were many critical and difficult periods that were really periods of birth. So I look at the future with hope and happiness, even though this is terribly difficult. The new world will not be born as long as half of the old world hasn’t died. We see that inanimate nature is destroyed, various kinds of animals and plants are becoming extinct, and people are dying.
It is not known what will happen to us in conditions of extreme climatic changes and disasters. But this is making the birth of a new kind of life possible.
We are leaving the old era, the old generation, the entire history through which humanity has passed, and we are being born into a new world. So we feel pressure, labor; we are losing all the knowledge that we have gathered, the taste, the culture, the education, the traditions. Even science will be renewed. Humanity apparently will be reborn, all material will seem new.
Love, the system of relationships of couples and the relations between parents and children, everything will be changed beyond recognition. We don’t know towards what kind of world we are heading, but it is possible to guess and predict what kind of a world it will be: How will families look in the future; will we want to give birth to children; will the children remain at home or will they live completely differently?
How will we perceive the world; what atmosphere will there be in society; what kind of culture, education, system of relationships, standards of beauty, what songs? Everything is experiencing a real revolution.
It is still impossible to imagine precisely the picture of the future world, but we can be sure that the world will change completely and it is not in our power to stop this.
The change is derived from nature and draws us into itself, without asking for our permission. The new world must soon be born, so let’s help ourselves to be born in the new world; effort can be made to break out.

Answer: I cannot answer that question because I think that everything depends on education. If we had given a person the right education and upbringing from childhood, by the beginning of sexual development, he would already be prepared for this internally: would correctly perceive all the signs of attraction to the opposite sex correctly, would know how to behave, how to act. I am not for restriction and not for absolute freedom. Everything should be aimed at attaining the goal of creation, including this.
During adolescence, very strong drives are developing in people, attracting them forward. In these years between ages ten to twenty, they can absorb everything, be consciously educated, and create a positive image and clarity with the help of which they will go towards the goal of creation. And suddenly such powerful passions flare up that they cannot satisfy, and they think about them all the time. Besides all this is heated up by the media.
A person is in a certain contradiction here. On the one hand, one has a lot to learn, perceive, and create. And on the other hand, one is constantly bombarded by thoughts about sex.
Therefore, it is necessary to create a system of education that will find harmony between these two opposing forces that appear in us so that we will move forward correctly. At the same time, we need to attract and awaken those other forces, properties, and aspirations.
It is necessary to ensure that the desire to create an Adam (Man) from ourselves and to attain the goal of creation will be as strong and even stronger than sexual desires.
But this requires a very serious system that will surround the person, raises one, and touches the deepest desires about the opposite sex and the desire for development towards the goal. If we create a system of education like this, then we will make people happy.

Question: How can we pray and ask the Creator for anything when first, He knows everything in advance anyway? Second, His law is immutable, everything is predetermined by Him, is fixed and cannot be changed, so everything is actually already done by definition. Third, how can a tiny creature who can’t even see one hundredth of the general picture ask for anything or even more incomprehensible is how can he demand something if this demand is for bestowal?
Answer: Because the request changes you and your attitude toward the Creator and brings you closer to Him.
Question: Sometimes when I try to pray and imagine the Creator before me, I want to disappear. How can I turn to the Creator? I feel that He is almighty and that He will always forgive me, but, at the same time, I always feel that I am defective when I turn to Him. Even if I keep trying to be nice to others and to justify them, I still feel filthy when I pray. What should I do?
Answer: The Creator has created the defects that you feel and your job is to perceive exactly what these defects are and ask to be purified of them.
