Why Wait For The Blows?

Dr. Michael LaitmanIf you gain what you so passionately desire by going through a lot of pain, you give thanks for the bad like for the good. Obviously, it isn’t the path of Light, but such is reality. We, however, have to advance only by way of the Light, as it is written: “In Your Light, we shall see Light.”

Why can’t I feel this evil long before it hits me? Why can’t I run ahead of the blow? I know it is possible! If I enter the group, I receive an awareness of my evil from the friends. It isn’t the Light that comes from Above which reveals it to me, but I discover and recognize it on my own.

Making efforts to unite with the friends, I see how unable I am to do so and feel my total uselessness. At the same time, however, I receive the greatness of the goal, cry to the Creator for help, and advance.

Having received the Surrounding Light, I turn to the group again, only to feel resentment once more, and cry out to the Creator again. He provides the Light that Reforms. The Creator draws me closer to Himself and holds me up. I begin to feel, understand, and attain more, thereby moving ahead. Then, the cycle repeats.

This is a non-stop, unbroken action that must be performed at an infinite frequency, and you are to be constantly in it. Moreover, your plea to the Creator and to the group, as well as receiving the Surrounding Light, occurs automatically. One follows the other.

You simply “press the pedal” to move in the right direction. As to how all the “cogwheels” spin in the “engine,” you are not interested in that. So, why wait for the blows?

Remove Your Shadow

Dr. Michael LaitmanAt present, you are moving ahead, inquiring, wishing for something. Who instills these desires and actions in you? That is what you must find out.

Gradually, as you get to know the unifying force working in the whole of creation, you thereby replace the instruments of your perception: the heart and the mind. You become more responsive and begin to better comprehend what is going on and understand the Creator’s actions.

You suddenly see an enormous world, which is much broader, deeper, and more complex in all its angles and aspects. All of this becomes different in relation to you. But later you will understand that it is you who is changing, and outside of you, everything remains the same.

Later, you will find out that all you are seeing is only the Creator. It is so because there is none else beside Him. And what you see as the world is just your shadow over Him, and it is so until you will have reached the condition when this shadow disappears.

In other words, to reach adhesion with the Creator, we must undergo multiple changes. In your perception, these alterations are called the worlds of Assya, Yetzira, Beriah, Atzilut, Adam Kadmon, and the World of Infinity. These are degrees of your perception of reality that are shown to you in its much more authentic form.

So, what did change? Only your perception. You alter your sensory organs and witness how gradually the Creator is being revealed to you, how the image of the world acquires much sharper characteristics, becomes real, constant, and eternal. It all depends on the place you are observing it from in relation to the Light of Infinity.

Then, you begin to understand that the shadow you saw on the Creator, all of these concealments, the worlds, all of this was for your own good. At least, you saw some silhouettes, a certain drawing that you needed to erase, saw that you needed to become similar to the Creator within this shadow, to make it disappear.

The Universal Language Of The Soul

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How should we attune ourselves while we read the books that reveal the “physics” of the spiritual world: Beit Shaar HaKavanot (The Gates Of Intention) or TES (The Study of The Ten Sefirot)?

Answer: My primary task is to make myself similar to the Creator, to ascend to Him. Therefore, I need to repeat His actions and attitudes: If the Creator treats the group as “Good that does Good,” this means I should treat it with the same kind of goodness.

This is why I first need to take care of my attitude towards the friends, which is given to me as work so that we will become one whole in unity and love. If I achieve this state, I begin to treat them like the Creator does, and to this extent I begin to feel the Creator. After all, we become close with Him according to the law of equivalence of form, and we feel each other. In this manner, I reach adhesion with Him. This is the only thing we should think about.

And it’s enough to just look into a book and listen, as long as it is a genuine, true primary source. You might not even know the language, that’s irrelevant; you won’t understand anything anyway.

You only need to remember that now you are receiving the medicine that should heal you! It should reveal an additional sense in you, and then you will feel the spiritual world and understand without words since the sensation cannot be expressed in words. No words are necessary in order to feel. Words are needed only in order to tell someone else about it, but within the sensation itself, there are no words.

And one should wait for a spiritual sensation to open up within him without any words. This is what the real science of Kabbalah is: It helps you reach this perception!

Approaching The Reality Of The Creator

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What kind of perception of reality does the Creator have?

Answer: The Creator does not have any perception of reality because He has only one property: the desire to bestow, bestowal. The Creator does not have reality. He is, Himself, the perfect reality.

When we perceive and depict the surrounding reality, we reach the states that become increasingly closer to Him. Therefore, the best form of the world appears when we correct ourselves to the degree that we create or project to ourselves the reality: the Creator. This is the state we achieve.

When we go through all the movies, pictures, and forms during our correction, we gradually, step by step, bring them closer to such a reality in which only the Creator exists, as it is said, “He and His name are one” and “There is none else besides Him.”

The Screen Of My Reality

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Does the perception of reality depend on the environment?

Answer: If I wish to see a different, more advanced reality, compared to the corporeal reality of this world, I can see it only on the screen that I build from our mutual connection. Wishing to build a different reality, I must connect with the friends’ points in the hearts and create a network between us as it was before the breaking of the collective soul. This network of communication between us is the screen on which I see the picture of the world.

Until The Worm Grows Into A Human Being

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe system of the Upper Governance called “The Tree of the Universe” comes down to us from Above in its ideal form where all of its parts are properly interconnected. Each element is united with all others in absolute harmony, it receives nourishment from everybody and nourishes everybody according to its degree and the common strength of the system, which results in the formation of one common sphere symbolizing perfection.

Everything is permeated by the “illumination of Shechina”; the Light fills all the desires which exist in mutual harmony so they may supplement each other. The law of this system is for everyone to act only in its common interests, consciously and reciprocally. It is created from the side of the Light, bestowal, or the Creator.

We find ourselves in the very center of this system as a broken part, and we need to become aware that this system is broken and opposite to its true form. This is how we reveal our breaking.

Our form is opposite to that of the system. It turns out that I exist in a wonderful world of Light and spiritual harmony, but because I am in my own egoism, I am opposite to the system and see the world in a completely different way.

The Upper Light purposely conceals from us the perfect reality only because it would feel horrible to feel its perfection! Therefore, I see merely a small part of the true reality around me, the part that I am able to absorb with my minute egoism, but I see everything in the opposite form, as bad or evil. I perceive it to the extent and in the form that I am able to accept and live with it.

To the degree that I become corrected and acquire the desire for bestowal, this sphere is revealed to me more and more. It widens and shows me that I am worse and worse! But meanwhile, I am already receiving the force of bestowal and correcting myself and my reality. This continues until my perception broadens and encompasses the whole sphere, the whole “tree,” the entire system, and then I can tune into it correctly and with full force.

However, for the time being, we exist in the center of this whole universe, in a form opposite to it, locked inside our own tiny world like a worm in a bitter radish.

Perfect Attainment

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How do we perceive the Creator: like other people outside of us or differently somehow?

Answer: The difference between perceiving the Creator and perceiving other people can be likened to perceiving the general and the particular. Due to truly beginning to feel people, I reach the perception of the general which includes everything and is called the Creator.

However, there is a difference between the particular and the general. After all, the general is the root, the initial cause of everything. It is not just a few people or many together, individuals or the entire totality. The general implies attainment of the root of creation. This is a qualitative addition.

The difference is not in drinking from a hundred separate glasses or from one big glass with all one hundred portions poured together. I attain the cause of creation, the process that includes everything and its goal. The root encompasses everything, and other people cannot provide such attainment, only the Creator can.

The goal of the Creator is to bring us precisely to this point! And prior to it, our state is still imperfect.

A Simple Formula Of Reality

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe reality in which we exist has no time. All of the changes of time, space, actions, and everything that happens to us including our own transformations are all based on our changeable sensations, while nothing changes outside of us. We would not feel any changes without the changes in our desires and intentions.

In reality there is nothing but the desire with intention and opposite to it, the Upper Light that remains at absolute rest. As this desire changes, it experiences different forms and shapes. Presently, we are experiencing the sensation of ourselves, and this is also the desire that perceives itself this way.

This desire goes through different states, one after another, in the order of cause and effect, from the beginning of its development to the end. This entire development is only realized in relation to the desire; there are no changes outside of it.

Therefore, the entire wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about the way the desire perceives its reality: the location of this desire, why it is there, and who it is connected to. This is its entire life. The wisdom of Kabbalah reveals to us all of the events that happen to the desire, explains this entire process and especially the last stage of the desire’s development.

This last stage is a conscious step, when the desire develops together with its intention and they attain a state where they begin to perceive their own reality. A certain force arises in them, a special property of perception, which enables the desire to rise over it and watch itself from an external and objective point.

Then the desire establishes that it actually exists; it changes and moves towards something, existing in connection with someone unknown for now, and there is a purpose to its development. It begins to think about the future state which it does not yet see.

All of this happens because the so-called “point in the heart” develops in the desire on the last stage of its development. From this moment on, the desire begins to identify itself more and more with this point; it connects with it, values it, and moves outside of itself more.

In other words, instead of paying attention to the things that the desire has or doesn’t, to the degree to which it is filled or empty, it begins to see fulfillment or its absence as the means to identify itself more with the point above the desire referred to as the screen or intention, Creator, or unity. This is how the desire develops.

Coming Out Of The Illusion

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can I tell whether I am reading The Zohar with the right intention?

Answer: You have to think about the conditions of revealing the Creator. The condition is equivalence of form, which means that inside of my desire to enjoy I will reveal the desire to bestow, the intention of bestowal, or an aspiration for bestowal.

I am waiting for my inner program to change from reception to bestowal so that I will start perceiving the different forms of bestowal that are coming to me. And this is the only thing I want.

Right now I am in an ocean of spiritual information, but I cannot perceive any of it. I lack the program to perceive it. However, if I aspire to it and desire to acquire it, then I advance and come closer to understanding it.

Everything I read in The Book of Zohar are actions of bestowal that take place in reality. This is the only existing reality, whereas our material reality exists only in our subconscious. It’s an illusion that we presently exist in.

The true reality is above this subconscious level, this imaginary reality, and it operates according to bestowal. Reception inside the desire does not even exist other than in our "dream."

Therefore, I desire to ascend above my sensations to the true reality.

How To Become A King?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: States on the spiritual path are described, but how does one go from one state to another? What is the method of transition?

Answer: The method is very simple: Nothing changes in reality. There is only one unchangeable reality, and as my attitude towards it changes, reality changes in my sensations.

The Giver is unchangeable, nature is unchangeable. All of the changes happen by man changing his attitude towards the world. Even psychologists advise not to wait for the world to change, but to change oneself.

The Upper Light can give you a new attitude towards reality, and you will see for yourself that everything depends on you. Just do not take this situation as undesirable and difficult work, but on the contrary, treat it as your chance to control your life. After all, if everything depends on you, and you have the force through which you can implement actual changes at your disposal, then this is wonderful! Naturally, certain efforts are expected of you, but through them you become the center of the universe!

A small person, who thinks that he depends on nature and everyone else, himself begins to change and changes his perception of reality. Everything is in his hands.
