Answer: According to our sources, this is the day that the young women of Jerusalem go out dressed in white to the orchards and the vineyards and sing. The young men join them and choose their bride. This is what characterizes this holiday.

Comment: Many believe that the 15^th of Av is similar to Valentine’s Day and that it is not deeply rooted in Jewish tradition.

Answer: This holiday is mentioned in writings that are 3,000 years old, and so I believe that it is a tradition. Our holidays and special days should be divided into those that have already been fulfilled in our calendar and those that have not yet been fulfilled. We should understand that there are holidays and special dates that only Israel have undergone and those that the whole world, all of humanity, has to undergo.

We celebrate certain dates since they will appear only in the future, like Purim, for example. In fact, they were revealed to some extent and there was such an event in the our history, such a problem did come up, and as usual they wanted to destroy our whole nation in ancient Babylon, and we managed to avoid it successfully; we came out of exile, etc…But this holiday is basically the embodiment of a future state and not of a historical event.

It is the same with the day of love. The day of love is basically the greatest day, the greatest holiday! Love! However, it isn’t the love that young men and young women look for in the vineyards, but a totally different kind of love that is built on top of the correction of the ego that brought about the destruction of the First and Second Temples and which the period between the 17^th of Tammuz and the 9^th of Av symbolizes. It is about the time of the destruction of the two Temples and other problems and afflictions that the Jewish people have undergone. And just a week later, when all that is gone and corrected, a new period begins.

It is a time in which we build the Temple, but this Temple is in our hearts, the connection between us. We look for a spiritual partner, and the spiritual partner for both men and women is the upper force, the Creator. We connect with Him and together receive the absolute filling, pleasure, and enlightenment, the revelation of the real world. We exist in it and not only in a small fragment of this world. The whole process symbolizes the correction, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the transition from hatred to love.

Question: Is this what the 15^th of Av, the day of love, symbolizes?

Answer: Basically yes, but it is a holiday for which we have no special date, because it is seemingly celebrated on Purim. Purim is the holiday of freedom, the holiday of correction only for the Jewish people, while now we are nearing a state in which we will celebrate it with the whole world. It says in the Book of Psalms that the Third Temple will be called “a house of prayer for all the nations.” This is the reason that the 15^th of Av seems similar to Valentine’s Day. Symbolically it indicates that this will be a holiday of love for the whole world.

Question: Can we compare it with the holidays of all the religions?

Answer: Yes, it seems to be external to religion, like the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Comment: You have said that it will be a holiday that can be celebrated any time…

Answer: That’s true, since what else do we mean by rebuilding the Third Temple? It is a state in which we connect into one single system called man, Adam, stemming from the Hebrew root “Domeh – to resemble,” to resemble the Creator. When this system is connected by the positive forces, when all of humanity is connected together, it will be called the Third Temple. The Creator will be revealed in the system of the positive connection, the upper force of the world, and thus we will live in what we call the Third Temple, in a totally different world, in a feeling of eternity and wholeness. It will be like a real day of love as it is written: love will cover all our transgressions, and love thy friend as thyself, etc., which means that this is the ultimate state of all mankind. We will reach it whether by force, by the stick, or in a clever rational way, as the wisdom of Kabbalah advises us to do, quickly and easily.

Comment: The 15^th of Av is a clue of the sublime state that we call the third Temple.

Answer: Yes, at the same time, a young woman symbolizes all of humanity and a young man symbolizes the Creator. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah describes and explains. It is impossible to imagine that King Solomon, a great Kabbalist who left us such a masterpiece, simply wrote about love! The 15^th of Av, the day of love is the greatest holiday because all the other holidays represent how we reach it, and it comes at the end, at the end of our development.

Question: What do we find behind the absolute love we attain?

Answer: It is only a condition, the connection of two opposite forces, of two attributes, into one; the new energy that develops on top of this connection, the consciousness, the understanding, the feeling, raises us to the next level, which is not described anywhere. The wisdom of Kabbalah only tells us about how we should reach this state. What is beyond that? We are not told because we cannot understand it. We don’t have the feelings or the mind to understand the next level.

Answer: Women are more open, more collective, and less egoistic in teamwork. They require support; they consolidate a collective, a circle around them, while a man would organize a pyramid (dominance).

Also, in serious circumstances, a drive to hide a bit behind a woman is awakened in a man. He must feel her next to him like a child who needs his mother.

It makes no difference if he is mature and healthy, in any case this instinct lives within him. We were born from a woman, we were educated by a woman, we were fed by her, and a woman protected us, clothed us, washed and dried us. So when we are not sure of ourselves, we feel like children, needing female, motherly support. It is not for nothing that it is said that behind every successful man stands a woman.

On the other hand, we must understand that there must be a proper integration between a man and woman. The problem is that in our times both men and women are egoists and someone who rises to power cannot do anything good. A man will not hide behind a woman and unfortunately, even though a woman will partially function collectively, this will be without result because neither these nor those have a method for collective management.

Our world is becoming integral, so much so that everything concludes with this fact. The fact is that in various nations women have risen to power, and in nations like Germany, England, the United States, and France, there is an indication that men are feeling the uncertainty that is sitting in our subconscious. So nature is revealing that advancing to the front of the stage is a woman who is strong, in control, calm and confident, whom men imagine as a mother whose “skirt can be held.”

Question: What can be expected for us in the near future?

Answer: A serious shock can be expected for us in the future because a woman in power is a sign that the situation in the world is truly dim and unclear.

We need to understand that precisely in this situation, in spite of everything, men are obliged to go to the front of the stage. It is specifically the men who must acquire and master the method of correction of the world, seeing their role and realizing it. While women always adapt themselves to men, there is no need to throw everything on them.

One must take into account that they find themselves at the head of the nation against their will because we have been hurled into a dead end. But the correction must always move and be carried out through the men.

Basically we have transformed our “incorrect” existence on our land to “not ours.” We were expelled from it 2,000 years ago as a result of discovering mutual hatred between us. As long as we don’t replace it with a good connection between us, we will not convince anyone that this is our place! We are not fighting with the Arabs but with ourselves and the Creator!

After all, there is no other way than the way of suffering, of egoism, or through the Light above the ego, above our nature, ascending above it to the characteristic of bestowal and connection.

Comment: All over the world today, cannabis is being legalized. And now it is happening in London. It is expected that the country will gain a billion dollars for taxing the use of cannabis. In addition, they claim that legalizing cannabis will reduce crime and other negative repercussions.

Answer: Legalizing cannabis will calm people. When certain phenomena become so broad and reaches the people, it must be resolved. And to go against it is not realistic, simple, or wise.

Answer: I don’t know where the line is here. In principle, a person needs to determine the limit him or herself, as long as it doesn’t harm others. Also, everything depends on his education and upbringing. If we begin to engage in education, then we will be able to reorganize the structure of relations of the global population in the best form where people will put themselves in certain frameworks and see a higher purpose; they will discern how to reach it and where to get calming influences.

Today, humanity is still not able to do without drugs. People cannot live with a goal that is still not revealed to them. They don’t understand that access to the upper state is now being opened before them. So they don’t do anything but something to extinguish the hopelessness.

My Comment: A person is playing all the time since he is searching for the meaning of life and self-realization. I am not against the Pokemon game because everything that appears in our world ultimately leads us toward correction.

Question: Can a person find the meaning of life through a game?

Answer: Obviously! The entire wisdom of Kabbalah is a game. It is written that the Creator plays with Leviathan, so we also play with each other. A game is an activity in which I imagine a state in which I am not yet found, like in a theater. We gather together and begin to simulate our spiritual states that are specifically discovered in the connection between us. Even though we have not yet attained that connection, we imagine to ourselves how it will be, how a future society will look in which everyone is connected together, to begin to feel the start of spiritual states. So in this way we attract a unique energy on ourselves that moves us forward physically.

Question: Are we children?

Answer: Certainly! If we realize that we are children and we truly are like children who have long since already become serious adults. We gradually grow when we come into the game because in the future life on a higher level is expected for us, a very good and warm life in which we are no longer just playing a game but a real Pokemon.

This is because the pursuit of Pokemon is a pursuit to discover the Creator! This is essentially what the wisdom of Kabbalah engages in. Within us and in our connection with others, we are constantly directing ourselves toward a greater revelation of the Creator. We pursue this until we reach a state in which the Creator begins to be revealed more and more. These are 125 levels of attainment and the discovery of a higher perfected and unlimited state; this is not a pursuit of some kind of ghostly image. Rather, it is a state that changes our lives and takes us out to another dimension.

Question: What leads us forward in this game?

Answer: When a person directs himself toward the inner connection between himself and others, he changes all of his senses this way. We enter into another reality more and more. It is impossible to compare this to running in a park searching for something.

Comment: In spite of it all, this is a tiny additional step for humanity.

Answer: Without a doubt! Various phenomena in our world always give us some kind of advancement. So let’s direct ourselves toward a real search.

There are also people who, according to their psychology, want to work, feeling that they must work. There are those who have no need such as this, and it is becoming clear that humanity is getting along very well without them.

Question: Does it follow that those who need to change are not the ones who don’t want to work but those who believe they have to work?

Answer: Yes, it is not necessary to pressure those who don’t want to work. In any case, there are no jobs for them. We artificially create workplaces and produce absolutely useless products, taking natural resources from nature, throwing them out, and polluting the planet!

So, we need to let time take its course and leave the children alone, and don’t lament: “We don’t understand how this could be.” Children don’t want to work and don’t need to! They have a different perception of life.

Do they get along? They get along. They aren’t going to be lost.

Question: Do we need to be involved with the education of children? There was a time when you spoke about the educational process that must exist now.

Answer: The educational process is essential, but not for acquiring a profession or making money, where you do work that is absolutely unnecessary and is even harmful to the world.

The educational process is necessary for making an Adam (Man) out of a beast. It is written this way in The Zohar: “…[from] a wild donkey a man will be born” (Job 11:12). So, he is another evil beast! You can see how children relate to each other.

So, we must convey a process of education to each and every one, and this is what will occupy humanity.

Comment: Lately you sound like a political commentator and not a Kabbalist.

Answer: In our shared cultural development we have reached the end of the previous stage of human development, a stage in which humanity evolved according to natural law, through its continually growing egoism, like a little child or adolescent.

But just as the period of childhood ends, so also this period is ending, and today nature is forcing us to grow up and relate to life differently. For this, it is up to us to work against our egoistic desires and rise above them with faith above reason.

To realize this transition from childhood to adulthood, the wisdom of Kabbalah has been revealed and tells us where we are, what happened throughout history, and what will happen in the future. Beginning from this moment, we have before us two ways of development: the way of suffering or the way of Torah, the good way. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us how to walk in the good way, which means learning to resemble nature and unite like all of nature is united.

The integral feeling will unveil before us the true world in which we exist. But now it is hidden by our narrow egoistic feeling. By discovering the true world we will be “creators” of another eternal and perfect world.

Since this transition is imperative for everyone and must happen in our time, as is written in the wisdom of Kabbalah and according to everything that is happening in the world, it seems that we must teach the wisdom of Kabbalah with news events, and explain what the events are caused by and toward what they are leading us.

It is possible to see my commentaries from previous years and be convinced about how right they are. Even Baal HaSulam wrote about politics in the writings of “The Last Generation” and in the newspaper, The Nation.

Research (Proceedings of the National Academy of Science): Psychologists from Yale and Harvard University conducted a series of studies.

“Human prosociality presents an evolutionary puzzle, and reciprocity has emerged as a dominant explanation: cooperating today can bring benefits tomorrow. Reciprocity theories clearly predict that people should only cooperate when the benefits outweigh the costs, and thus that the decision to cooperate should always depend on a cost–benefit analysis. Yet human cooperation can be very uncalculating: good friends grant favors without asking questions, romantic love ‘blinds’ us to the costs of devotion, and ethical principles make universal moral prescriptions. Here, we provide the first evidence, to our knowledge, that reputation effects drive uncalculating cooperation. We demonstrate, using economic game experiments, that people engage in uncalculating cooperation to signal that they can be relied upon to cooperate in the future.

“Humans frequently cooperate without carefully weighing the costs and benefits. As a result, people may wind up cooperating when it is not worthwhile to do so. Why risk making costly mistakes? Here, we present experimental evidence that reputation concerns provide an answer: people cooperate in an uncalculating way to signal their trustworthiness to observers.

“People who help others non egoistically and for no self benefit are perceived as more reliable and therefore help others,” which means that they want to seem more reliable and can be counted on and accepted to work and so subconsciously they do things that are considered desirable by others. …

“…we find that participants are more likely to engage in uncalculating cooperation when their decision-making process is observable to others. Furthermore, we confirm that people who engage in uncalculating cooperation are perceived as, and actually are, more trustworthy than people who cooperate in a calculating way. Taken together, these data provide the first empirical evidence, to our knowledge, that uncalculating cooperation is used to signal trustworthiness, and is not merely an efficient decision-making strategy that reduces cognitive costs.”

Answer: Of course this is how such people want to be accepted.  So they promote themselves to acquire some “profit”:  gain social status, are promoted at work, etc.

Question: Would they behave differently if there weren’t this self-benefit?

Answer: Of course! Egoism is our nature, it requires calories, energy, an investment. Where does this energy come from? We have to see what we can get it from in the future; how we can fill ourselves. It is just lifke a gas tank in a car which you fill at a gas station.

People are ready to give a lot for the future reward that illuminates for them: for being spoken of favorably, for being promoted at work, so that their children will be proud of them, neighbors will respect them, etc. It is worth a lot!

Otherwise why do we buy a certain apartment or a certain car and spend a lot of money on it, when we could live in perfect peace and quite well without them.

Our actions cannot be free of greediness because our nature doesn’t allow us to do so! We have to spend calories on everything, joules (energy measuring units), no matter how we measure it. Therefore we have to receive this energy, which means that there has to be something that provides us with this energy for which we work, and if we don’t receive it, we cannot work because we are all mechanisms! We can only operate only if we have available energy or if it illuminates for us in the future.

Comment: But the researchers at Yale and Harvard don’t even mention egoism.

Answer: Of course not because they don’t understand it. They believe it is natural for a person who gives to do so and that there is no egoism in him and even quite the opposite.

Comment: But they did conclude that such actions are rewarding.

Answer: This is not considered egoism. Egoism is the clear fulfillment of our desire in order to harm others. If I bargain with someone in order to buy something for a cheaper price and he wants to sell it for a higher price, it is normal. It is human nature, but it may be the opposite case.

The painter Modigliani, for example, painted with “blood” because he was so hungry he couldn’t hold a paintbrush and fell exhausted at his easel. This is considered a noble soul, self-sacrifice, not selfishness. But in fact, this is overt blatant egoism.

A person lacks the clear accurate understanding of his nature; he loves to distort everything. Humanity is still immersed in its games, in confusion.

We must understand that nature operates according to a very simple principle: If there is energy, I turn around; if there is no energy I stand still and that’s all. Therefore, if we do something, it means that there is a hidden benefit in it, and if we wish to work without it, we have to know how to connect to an upper source of energy by studying the wisdom of Kabbalah and become a perpetual motion machine.

Then we will receive energy from an external source as if we are connected to an invisible pipe of energy for the sake of others. If we receive it, we will be able to work, but not in any other way.

Question: At the gathering of the 18^th Knesset, a compulsory education law was passed regarding essential subjects (mathematics, physics, and others) for the ultra-Orthodox schools. However, the ultra-Orthodox are introducing another bill to nullify this reform.

How do you feel about the proposal of teaching essential subjects for a general education in all schools?

Answer: I don’t understand the ultra-Orthodox’s fear. This doesn’t include history, social sciences, culture, or art. These are subjects that are essential today for every person to apply for any job.

Maybe they are afraid of being left without their electorate or that people will become more secular, will begin to work and leave their communities in which children grow up without a profession;  they don’t have degrees and must study in a kollel [institute for advanced Talmud and rabbinical literature study] for a poor people’s scholarship. The problem is compounded by the fact that they receive very large benefits from the state according to the number of children in the family.

If you consider the situation from the perspective of the future, on the one hand, in any case everything is going toward a reduction in the number of places to work because robots and automated machines will enter our lives so much that we will simply not be able to find work for everyone. On the other hand, in spite of everything, it is necessary to give a person a minimal job besides studying Torah. At least, that is what the Americans did. But it could be that to a particular degree this caused them to begin to become distanced from religion, from Jewish communities and to gradually spread all over America. The problem is serious and as far as it seems, the Orthodox are considering this issue.

They must stand guard in relation to their community and they are doing this magnificently. They use whatever they can get from the nation and from local self-management organizations. They are good politicians who can see everything correctly, predict developments, and come to agreements. They understand what they must do. There is a thorough understanding of their internal problems, but externally they always present themselves as one single monolithic force.

Comment: In principle, this is a type of preservation….

Answer: This preservation is correct because in their perception there is nothing new in the world, “If we wait 30 years, nothing will happen.”

Preservation like this is justified. So I think that they know what they are doing and all of our secular views about their behavior, in which we immediately denounce and judge them, is derived from a point of view in which everything must be changed immediately and be constantly clothed in another form.

While they assume that changes can wait, the main thing is to hold their community together, under one roof, behind one fence and not allow it any way to dissolve or to disperse anywhere.

Comment: According to Kabbalistic theory, the ego is growing and one way or another it will always win, meaning that the barriers will be breached….

Answer: This will only be in the end of days. First everything will come from the secular strata of the population through the moderate religious Jewish communities. And only at the end, when all the rest will already be close to correction and unity, then the Light of correction, by way of the external strata, will it gradually manifest in them.

Until then, they will be against any changes; they will hate the wisdom of Kabbalah and this will continue until the end of days.
