Question: So many gadgets are thrown away. People will not give up gadgets, electronics, or anything. Where does it all go when it is thrown away?

Answer: I believe that a person who buys something new is obliged to bring the old one and take it to the same store for recycling. It is necessary to organize everything in this way. You can’t buy any new product without returning the old one.

Question: Otherwise they should not sell me anything else?

Answer: Yes. They don’t have the right; they have to get the old one first.

Comment: Once you said something fantastic, that if a person changes his thoughts, then all this will not need to be done; it will disappear by itself. People perceive it as fiction.

My Response: No, the fact is that if we were spiritually close to each other, we wouldn’t need these gadgets. Why do we need to talk or correspond so much? It’s all in the air. We would just feel and understand it, and we wouldn’t have to write. Why should I write things that are already absolutely clear and understandable to everyone?

And so we clog up the ether, we clog up the earth, we clog up everything. All this is “hanging in the air,” as they say. All information.

This is even more than gadgets. What is happening in the air now? It’s all being recorded. There is an organization, each country has its own, which records on one huge disc, as on a CD, everything that is in the air. Absolutely everything! And when you need to get something, it is read at a certain frequency. And there you can hear your frequency, my frequency, his frequency.

And that’s how our conversations are pulled out and listened to when necessary. And when not, the record is deposited and a new record is recorded, for example, a new one every day.

Question: Are you making up some kind of scenario or are you talking about reality?

Answer: I’m talking about something that exists. Imagine a disk on which absolutely all the noises in the air and passing through all networks are recorded. And they are all recorded on this record. It’s a terrible noise, there’s nothing in it. But when you then read it with a certain filter tuned to a certain frequency—for example the frequency of your gadget—then you can hear what you were saying there.

Question: So there are no secrets? All phone conversations, all recordings?

Answer: There is no question about it at all. Who cares about secrets today?

Comment: We started with the environmental problem of gadgets, and now we are approaching the crazy problem of pollution of the entire ether.

My Response: This is a very big problem!

Question: What is scarier?

Answer: The ether is scarier, but we don’t know much about it.

Question: In what case will we get rid of these gadgets, these records, such thoughts?

Answer: When we have a good relations between us, a good connection between us, when we will not hide anything from each other and it will be clear between us without words how we treat each other.

A baby, when he is in his mothers womb does not need any gadgets. And when he comes out there is already a language, some gestures. But in principle, this is all a pitiful semblance of an internal connection between them. It’s the same with us.

We must gradually strive for an inner connection between us, and then we go to a completely different level of interaction and do not clog up any ether; rather we lift everything only to the area where there is only one upper light.

Question: So we become such an embryo of the upper light?

Answer: Yes. We exist in it now.

Question: Our task is to realize this?

Answer: Yes. And to abandon these primitive devices of ours, these means of communication, and so on.

Remark: And then a miracle will happen?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: I read an article “Forward to the past or how to stop negative evolution” [in Russian] where they wrote that degradation has been going on for decades. Food is getting worse. Incomes and the standard of living of the middle class are falling. Security, education, medicine, human rights, and social protection are being destroyed. The institution of the family is in decline, the birth rate is falling. Culture, art, fashion, cinema, everything is in decline. Legislation is being rewritten in favor of the rich and powerful. Theft is flourishing, we need to provide for ourselves, for our children, as the future is dark. A sharp left turn to improve the lives of citizens will provoke turmoil for years, and right-wing conservatism is not much better.

I read no conclusions it is just full of this is bad and that is bad. That’s what today’s time is like.

My Response: I think if electricity were switched off, then everything would be fine. Everything would go out, subside, machinery would stop. And that’s it.

Question: What would this blackout mean?

Answer: It is energy, any type of energy that feeds our egoism in all its egoistic manifestations in this world, energy of combustion, electrical energy, energy of movement , we use all this to our detriment. We need to go back 120 years and realize how we to create the world anew.

Question: So we have to understand why we would be given electricity? Not to steal progressively and earn money, but for something else? What for?

Answer: Just to restore the right connection between us. And to this extent we can use all the energy.

Question: Why do I turn on the lights, turn on machinery, and drive cars?

Answer: Only in order to transmit goodness to the world. I need energy for everything kind and useful I can do for the world, connection with others. And if I can’t do it clearly, if I don’t know how, then I don’t need energy. Don’t let me, don’t allow me to come in contact with other people at all.

See what is going on with the Internet! This is terrible! How much hatred there is! As soon as we turn on the energy, electricity, all the evil rushes out.

Question: Should a person translate the word “good” in different ways or in one common context?

Answer: For the benefit of others.

Question: A lot of people write to us that it is practically impossible for a person to survive on today’s pension. They try their best, but it’s very hard. Now few people believe the government. They try to put aside something and save up. Thoughts about retirement frighten everyone approaching this age and today even the young ones.

Thoughts of what if I can’t make it and many thoughts surrounding it pervade people.  What kind of thinking should there be in order for a person not to fall into depression, into constant stress? What kind of thought should a person cultivate in himself?

Answer: He must still imagine how little he needs in order to exist, and try to prepare himself for such an existence. So that he could feed himself in this way. And everything else, of course, he must prepare in advance, the place to live and so on.

Question: So, one way or another, think about it in advance?

Answer: Sure.

Question: Let’s say I prepared this for myself. And how to prepare internally?

Answer: It is the same internally, to come to joy that I don’t need anything more.

Question: Is this called “rising above the situation”?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And how to come to joy?

Answer: From the fact that I don’t depend on anyone, I don’t depend on anything, I can feel like an absolutely free person. Mostly in spirit. That’s it!

Question: Can I communicate at this moment, as you say, with nature, with the Creator?

Answer: Of course! Especially in this state.

Question: What should my prayer be?

Comment: So you said: “I’m free, I don’t depend on anyone.”

My Response: I have my own place and what I need minimally. And I’m satisfied with that! I think it’s realistic. It is only necessary to give a person an entrance to this inner freedom.

Comment: This is the most important moment. A person constantly is not free.

My Response: Because he makes himself dependent on this world. And he must break away from it and be internally free. It is very important.

Question: And can someone break away?

Answer: Imagine that you are really independent of anything and anyone. This is the way to your own inner freedom, absolute freedom! And to me, from this moment onward, it doesn’t matter what happens. Then I begin to feel completely independent from anything and from anyone. And no matter what happens, I am already in a state of complete disconnection from this world, its limitations and its fears. There is nothing, that’s it!

Question: Is this called that I connect to nature, to the Creator?

Answer: Yes. You gradually restrict your egoism and connect to nature or the Creator, which is the same thing.

Comment: Insects are no longer considered exotic food. Also food is getting more expensive now; everything is getting more expensive. Insects are considered an excellent source of protein without allergens or toxins. It is even said that protein supplements from insects are more beneficial for the body than meat.

I heard that producing one kilogram of protein from insects requires 500 times less water than producing one kilogram of protein from beef. There is a lot of such interesting data. About two billion people worldwide already include insects in their diets without any particular consequences.

To be honest, if I imagine eating a beetle, it is unappealing.

Answer: No, not just one beetle, you eat hundreds of beetles. They are ground up and well processed. And you are eating them in one form or another.

Question: So you think that one way or another we are getting closer to eating locusts and such?

Answer: There is no problem eating locusts at all. Locusts are kosher.

Question: So, Jews that keep kosher can eat locusts?

Answer: Of course!

Question: Man can eat anything, really. Even if he is disgusted by it, he can still consume it. Why?

Answer: There is no problem in the world regarding raising cows, steer, chickens, or anything else. No problem! It all depends on our desire, on our consent, on the level of society that we are building.

Answer: It is all a game.

Question: Whose game is it? Who is playing?

Answer: People are playing it.

Question: A third of the population is probably starving?

Answer: Probably, yes. Because people have an interest in it.

Question: So that some part starves? Why?

Answer: All this is being done, I would say, from above so that people would realize how vicious a society they live in is. What vicious qualities and relationships they live in.

I hope that we do realize the lowliness, the inferiority of those people who live today, including us, and that we will help each other rise a little. Then we can discuss whether we should catch bugs and eat them or not.

It is not about what we are going to eat. The question is “What will we be like?”

Question: And if we were, as you desire, corrected, kind to each other, then what?

Answer: Then we will transition to another state.

Question: But will we need to eat something?

Answer: No. We will not need anything. We will exist in a completely different reality, not this imaginary one, but a different, upper reality.

Question: What will sustain us?

Answer: The upper light. This is the real sustenance. Not some surrogates of our world.

Question: Then what is light?

Answer: The universal filling of everyone and everything.

Question: And one does not need anything else?

Answer: Nothing. That is how we are made.

“Humanity will soon pass 60% of the way in the fight against COVID-19. However, unexpected obstacles may still be ahead, so it is premature to predict the timing of the end of the pandemic.”

Answer: We have not entered this path! In our attitude to our condition, to the pandemic, we have not entered it yet.

Question: So you consider that the beginning of the path is if we at least gradually approach the root?

Answer: The beginning of realization of the source of our problem, for example, the pandemic, and other problems, lies in us generally treating nature incorrectly, absolutely negatively.

We must realize that otherwise nature, which is the Creator, cannot push us to His goal except in this way.

Question: Through viruses?

Answer: Yes. Such terrible, ugly creatures like us can’t be pushed otherwise.

Question: So you are saying that we haven’t even entered this marathon yet?

Answer: No, of course not. We do not know the reason why we feel such blows from nature. We do not know the consequences of this. We do not know how to turn to nature, to the Creator. How can we control our condition, how can we say that we have made it 60% of the way?

There must be a revelation of evil, that we feel bad. This is not evil yet.

Evil is when I realize that it comes to me because I am an egoist, I communicate incorrectly with people and with nature, and therefore I cause such blows to myself. The realization of the way I am is the realization of evil and it is the realization that it is bad for me. We have not uncovered the cause. And without uncovering the cause of the disease, no WHO will help here.

We just need to realize this and start correctly demanding our correction from nature, and not its correction or changes.

Question: And this is the beginning of healing?

Answer: Yes. The medicine is in us.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Among All Tensions – the Worst Is the One between the US and Israel”

Come December, we start thinking about the year that has passed and what we can look for in the coming year. When 2020 was coming to a close, people were optimistic that with Covid and all, 2020 was the worst we could have, and now that we have vaccines, things would be all good again. But by mid-January, memes started circling on social media saying “We’ve seen the sample, thank you, we want 2020 back.” Since then, matters have gone from bad to worse. If I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be “extremes.” 2021 has been a year of extremes. Yet, there is one peril that is destined to be more extreme than all, though it is still slightly undercover: the tension between the US and Israel. The former allies are on track to becoming hostile.

In the current US administration, there are people who not only disagree with Israel, but in my opinion, they disagree with Israel’s existence, though at this point, they will not admit it. I do not like it, but I cannot blame Americans for hating Israel. Through our own actions, we are turning our lives from pleasant and peaceful to painful and bloody. And because it will be so for us, it will be so for the entire world, as well.

Israel is at the center of the world. I do not say this because I live in it or because I am Jewish. It is at the center because of objective reasons, and history proves it. Mark Twain noted in “Concerning the Jews,” “…The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream stuff and passed away. The Greek and the Roman followed and made a vast noise, and they are gone. …All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?”

Similarly, John Adams, the second president of the United States, wrote in a letter to Francis Adrian Vanderkemp, “If I were an atheist, and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations. If I were an atheist of the other sect, who believe … that all is ordered by chance, I should believe that chance had ordered the Jews to preserve and propagate to all mankind the doctrine of a supreme, intelligent, wise, almighty sovereign of the universe, which I believe to be the great essential principle of all morality, and consequently of all civilization.”

Not only those two, but most people who study history acknowledge the centrality of the people of Israel in world events. There is a good reason for it, and one of the wisest people in contemporary Jewish history, Rav Kook, beautifully articulated it. In his book Orot HaRaaiah, he wrote, “Humanity deserves to be united into a single family. At that time all the quarrels and the ill- will that stem from divisions of nations and their borders shall cease. However, the world requires refinement, whereby humanity is perfected through each nation’s unique characteristics. This deficiency is what the Assembly of Israel will complement.”

Indeed, the role of the Jewish people, and the reason for its survival against all odds, is to bring the nations’ unique characteristics into a comprehensive wholeness and unity. Every nation that suffers from division blames it on the Jews because every person who feels hatred toward others subconsciously feels that the Jews are causing it. People cannot pinpoint the reason for their hatred of others—that it is because the people who were chosen to bring the light of unity to the world are squabbling among themselves—but they feel very clearly that somehow, the fact that they hate their neighbor is the Jews’ fault.

Meanwhile, the Jews are oblivious. Instead of working on our unity, we wallow in division and bond with our enemies in order to oust political rivals. When the world points a blaming finger at us, we point to our collaboration with our enemies as proof of our innocence.

But the world does not need our adulation toward enemies; it needs us to connect among ourselves. Internal unity and solidarity are the “refinement” that Rav Kook referred to in his words. This is the deficiency that we must satisfy. The world is looking for us to set an example. The mere fact that it is blaming us for its woes proves that it pins its hopes on us. If we show the way to unity, the world will follow. If we keep fighting, the world will fight, as well, and it will begin with fighting against us.

Yet, the world will not be better off if it decides to “punish” us for our sins the way the Nazis did. It will resolve to do it if we avoid our calling, but it will not make life easier on humanity. In the end, the relics of our nation, who remain after the near annihilation, will have to do what we can do now, before the storm breaks out.

Question: Why is pursuing the truth, even if it is wrong, restricted by censorship? Basically, the whole world is censored.

Answer: The whole world is a totally egoistic field only engaged in planting weeds at the level of still, vegetative, animate, and human, trying to create something out of them to conquer the world, win, defeat, and break it. It is natural. Our whole world is built on a completely different nature.

If some company creates a website where people would advocate an ideologically correct direction of human development, then, of course, they will have to come to Kabbalah.

Question: Could there be disputes and differing opinions?

Answer: Of course. There can be disputes in revealing the truth. But these are disputes not about who is right and who is wrong but what the truth is. The main thing is to have the correct ideology. It does not matter to me who is right or wrong. We need to find out the law of nature that is outside of you and outside of me. We scrutinize it, and we strive for it together.

Question: We know that Kabbalists of the past always had different opinions. Were these disputes aimed to identify a higher level?

Answer: Of course! They greatly encouraged the difference and variety of opinions. This is how truth is revealed. As it is said: “Truth is born in a dispute.” But not in disputes that are currently taking place in parliaments of different countries.

The UN has issued another statement condemning Israel. However, we must understand that the main reason for the hatred of Jews is the fact that we are not fulfilling our purpose in the world, which is to explain to all nations how to achieve good connection and peace; otherwise, the world will slide further down its downward spiral.

The growth of antisemitism comes from the general law of development of humanity. If humanity has to develop and we do not sweeten this development through our correct behavior, then we cause hatred toward us. This is a law of nature.

Therefore, antisemitism will grow, and there is only one solution, which was described in the wisdom of Kabbalah and in the Torah thousands of years ago. We will not be able to escape from our mission. We have nowhere to hide. There is no place on Earth where we would be able to exist if we do not establish correct relationships.

Then it will influence all the nations of the world and they will look at us differently. Everything depends on the good and correct connection between Jews because the people of Israel were assembled from representatives of all the nations of the world. Only in this form can we oblige all nations to good association and connection, and then peace and tranquility will come to the entire world.

We are holding the key to happiness for the entire world. I cannot express how painful it is for me to see how people suffer and do not find solutions because they do not understand in what form nature operates and what interconnections exist in it. Yet, there is a solution. According to what the wisdom of Kabbalah and the Torah say nothing is required except for one thing: to bring the people of Israel to unity, and we will thus cause all the nations of the world to unite.

Unfortunately, it is easier for Jews to unite with their enemies and haters than with each other. After all, uniting with each other belongs to correction, and uniting with haters belongs to corruption. Our stony heart is drawn to corruption.

While we do not do that, nature will be beating us. Two days ago, more than hundred people died as a result of a tornado in the US state of Kentucky. In a few seconds, the city turned into ruins, an apocalyptic scene. And nature is already preparing more tornadoes.

It is possible to stop all natural disasters by uniting people. Let’s try. Maybe it will help right now. The force of unity of people is more powerful than any tornado, any natural disaster. It is even stronger than the upper force.

Any disaster—a hurricane, a financial crisis, a viral epidemic—all these are blows of nature in response to the lack of unity between people. The connection between people is the most internal force in the world, and if it is not sufficient, then nature reacts with blows.

Yet, people cannot unite because there is a group in humanity called Jews. This group is mandated to come to unity first and thus awaken the feeling in all the nations of the world that unity is the cure for all troubles.

Therefore, the nations of the world need to turn to the Jews and demand that they start working on their unification. This is what the United Nations is for. Instead of condemning the State of Israel, let them protest against the people of Israel all over the world for not working on unification in order to prevent natural disasters in all corners of the world in any form.

It does not matter in which country a Jew lives, in Russia, in America, or in Israel, whether he is rich or poor, any Jew who does not work on unification causes disasters in the world. Therefore, time is running out, we need to unite right now. Only if we show the entire world an example of unity, will we fulfill our purpose.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What is the reason behind the increase in natural disasters nowadays?“

When we observe natural disasters, we might be able to understand certain geological and ecological factors, but what is behind those factors? In other words, what is behind the world that we perceive around us?

We might say, “the laws of nature,” but that provides no complete answer.

Why, then, do natural disasters happen to begin with, and why are they on the rise in recent times?

Natural disasters result from our imbalance with nature. While the world and our universe abounds in inanimate matter and physical forces, qualitatively speaking, the inanimate level of existence is the lowest qualitative level in nature. The highest qualitative level is that of the human.

Balance or imbalance at the human level determines our balance or imbalance with nature. Therefore, the more our connections become imbalanced—where we relate to each other by increasingly prioritizing self-benefit over benefiting others, i.e. becoming more and more egoistic—the more we experience crises such as natural disasters.

We live in a globally interconnected, interdependent and closed system where we all influence each other. One of our problems is that we fail to feel the vast extent of our interdependence. Therefore, we need to first learn about our interdependence, and from an increasing understanding and feeling of our interdependence, start establishing new conducts among us: laws of cooperation, mutuality and reciprocal concessions on a worldwide scale. Until we wake up to the extent of our interdependence, then we will fail to reach the required balance in our connections that would balance us with nature. We can then expect natural disasters—together with several other crises—to continue increasing until we positively connect.

Hillel the Elder formulated the first step toward observing such laws: “What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow.” In other words, at the very least, take great care not to harm other people. Observing this condition is an initial step toward enacting the laws of cooperation and mutuality among each other. Therefore, while this condition still does not bring us into balance with each other and nature, it does put an end to our exploitation of each other and nature for evil purposes.

As agreeable as such a condition might sound, it is naive to think that it is possible for us to observe it off the bat. In order to observe such a condition, we need a new kind of education that focuses primarily on bringing us into balance with nature. We need to reach a feeling of our global interdependence, and currently, we are far from that.

The more we go through such education, the more we should reach a sensation of our interdependence—a sensation that should guide our prioritization of altruism and cooperation over egoism and exploitation. We would then be able to renounce myriad forms of exploitation that exist in our world today. That is the first step: the understanding that harming others boomerangs back to us, ultimately harming ourselves. Natural disasters are an example of that kind of indirect harm we bring to each other by failing to enter into balance with nature.

Searches for the answer to the question “Why do I feel sad?” broke all records with a 10% jump from the previous year in the rankings of the most popular Google searches for 2021. Searches on topics such as: anxiety, stress, sadness, grief and methods to cope with them increased incomparably.

I can understand why people feel that way and I feel sorry for them. Even more difficult for me is to see that this suffering is not producing any results. It is as if the pain were not big enough to bring them out into the streets to demand global change.

Obviously we need to get to a level where the suffering is already coming from multiple directions and is felt by everyone. Only then will we begin to understand that across all the worries and problems, we need to connect with each other, to unite to influence leaders, to drive out the blight, to bring down inflation and to eliminate sadness.

I see this clearly: all human suffering stems from a lack of connection between us. We do not have good, friendly and amicable relations. Yet, simultaneously we are interdependent of each other and our happiness is dependent on the happiness of others, but we refuse to accept this reality.

Instead, we do not care that we cause harm to others, we do not curb our egoism, our relentless penchant for self-benefit, that drives us to commit harm and to be indifferent.

When suffering inevitably increases (Google searches show suffering is trending upward worldwide), then collectively we can recognize the problem and its solution, but when will that happen? How many more blows and of what magnitude will we have to endure? We are like heedless, stubborn children who do not want to hear anything. We do not want to acknowledge that we live by the laws of the ego. So, through blows and catastrophes nature will compel us to realize we have no choice but to submit to and abide by its laws since we are surrounded by and enclosed within the inescapable force of nature.

The inanimate, vegetative, and animal levels in creation practice mutuality based on their interdependence, and therefore the general natural system preserves them and provides the balance between them. Only the human race acts contrary to this system and shows no tendency to reciprocity; it singularly disrupts this equilibrium. We receive only for ourselves according to the laws of egoism and are unwilling to give according to the laws of nature. Thus, we disturb the balance not only between us, but also in all the other levels of nature, and they, like a mighty boomerang, smack us right back.

The year 2021 has been a year of discovering great inadequacies in the relationships in human society, a revelation of so much ugliness of the selfishness that dominates the human race and drives it to fight, harm and destroy. We must see this exposure of our nature as an opportunity and the foundation for building a new social structure.

We will rise from the crisis in the right way if we direct our efforts toward connection and cooperation. In this way, by the end of next year, our most pressing questions in life, such as “Why am I sad?” “Why am I suffering?” will be answered and put back in order.
