“What Are The Things That Do Not Matter In Life?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What are the things that do not matter in life?

We are made of egoistic material, where we primarily consider self-benefit at the expense of others.

The more we develop, the more our egos grow, and in our era especially, our egos have developed to such heights that we find it increasingly difficult to fulfill ourselves.

Beyond our life’s essentials—food, sex, family and shelter—our egos make us think that wealth, power and fame are important, so much so that many people are willing to dedicate their entire lives in order to reach one or more of those goals.

However, if we understood that beyond all of the corporeal goals we can picture to ourselves, there is a more exalted spiritual goal awaiting us all—one where we become awarded with an eternal soul, neverending fulfillment, a complete perception and sensation of reality, as well as harmony and balance with nature’s altruistic quality—then we would see corporeal pleasures as unimportant, since they are transient and lead to no lasting fulfillment.

It has been written about the spiritual goal by those who have attained it, that if a person would experience even the tiniest amount of spiritual pleasure, then he would be willing to give away everything he has in corporeality for the sake of spiritual growth.

Spiritual pleasure, however, is hidden from us.

This is because, if it were readily available, then we would become attached to it simply because it would be a much greater pleasure than everything available in our world, and by doing so, we would exercise no free choice in our spiritual pursuit.

We come to the spiritual path when we feel a certain kind of emptiness and lack of fulfillment in our corporeal desires. As much as we fill ourselves with food, sex, family, money, honor, control and knowledge, we keep finding ourselves lacking, wanting something different, and eventually question life’s meaning and essence.

Those with existential questions together with bitter experiences in their corporeal desires are led to a spiritual search, where they check different materials and groups seeking answers, ultimately, as to why they are alive.

If we reach the realization that we live in order to elevate ourselves to a higher perception and sensation of reality, where we attain our eternal soul, then when the greatness of that spiritual goal illuminates as being of utmost importance in life, we lose importance in corporeal goals of wealth, power and fame.

We then develop a much more natural and balanced approach to corporeality. We stop trying to extract all kinds of pleasures from overinflated corporeal desires, and instead, operate above them with an intent to reach the spiritual goal.

“How Would You Define Love?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How would you define love?

Love is a quality, force and longing to fulfill the desires of others, which is directed from the person outward.

How is it possible to fulfill another person’s desires?

It is possible if we understand their desires.

If we have shared habits, thoughts and opinions with others, then we know how to fulfill them and express our love.

If we lack understanding of their desires, then we should aspire to have desires that are similar to those whom we love, i.e., to build an inner model that matches their desires.

Building an inner model through which we can understand the desires of others grants us the ability to give them fulfillment.

We can then understand our own feelings when we receive the same kind of fulfillment, so we know how to fulfill them.

In the wisdom of Kabbalah, such a state is called “equivalence of form.” That is, by equalizing qualities with others, we achieve a state of unification, and love is the sensation of that unification.

The Light And Its Source

Laitman_177.13Question: Is there anything between the light and the source of the light?

Answer: No. We perceive only the upper light but not its source. We speak about the source of the light according to the light that we attain, but we cannot say anything else about it.

Question: Does this mean that the light is between us and its source?

Answer: Yes. But we cannot understand its source, feel it, or reveal it. We can only say that it radiates good because this is what we feel.

We give names to the Creator according to our perception of what comes from Him and not any other way. It is the same in our world where we give names to anything that we feel according to our feelings.  For example, if we are talking about a person you say he is good, someone else calls him evil, the third says he’s dumb, and the fourth that he is smart. Each one depicts him in a different way, which is also how we relate to the Creator.

I Want To Know The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_571.01Question: What should I do when I do not want to study anything related to my profession, but want to listen around the clock and to know only the wisdom of Kabbalah? I live only by it and nothing else interests me.

Answer: You need a group, systematic studies, and the correct relation of yourself with the surrounding world, family, work, and children. You must be fully in these systems, correctly balanced, and advancing to the attainment of the Creator. This is the only way to attain Him.

Question: How can I feel the Creator? At present, a lot of knowledge is opening up before me, but I cannot feel it.

Answer: Concentrate on the connection between you in the group, then you will be able to learn from this to direct yourself to the Creator.

Question: How can I correctly ask the Creator for His revelation?

Answer: Again, only if you are correctly connected with the group, study together with the friends, and advance according to the clear methodology.

Question: Once we complete the process of correction and we all are in one soul of Adam, what feelings will we experience?

Answer: We will feel that we are all together in one feeling, in one understanding, and are connected with the single upper force.

If Women Do Not Unite, The World Is Doomed

laitman_567.04Women must understand that if they do not unite, then the world is doomed. This should be the inner sensation of a woman. Men cannot help in anything here. The woman must fulfill her female role: she gives birth, takes care of the home, the children, and the future.

A woman must understand that if she does not connect with other women and does not take care of the world with them, then the world will be finished. No need for revolutions. Women only need unity and it will already change the world. In addition, no action will be required: the unification of women will eliminate the entire global crisis.

The whole crisis is between women, not between men, due to the fact that Malchut alone broke into many small Malchuts. If we put them together, this will be the correction. Women must know this well, and then we will have a real chance at achieving the correction of the world.

Only if we reach the stage of Bina, bestowal, can we acquire this quality called “mother.” After all, a mother gives, cares, feeds, and looks after the whole world. We must all find this power of bestowal—both men and women—and with the help of this power, we can unite among ourselves.

A man with a man and a woman with a woman can spiritually unite only to a certain height. But then we need to connect with the acquired force of Bina, and here we need women too.

Therefore, in our world as well as in the spiritual world, a perfect connection is needed between all men and all women so that we all come together, so that a perfect man, Adam, is born in whom there are male and female parts acting together.

We are already in a very advanced stage of pregnancy as a fetus, and we should be born soon. I cannot say exactly which month of pregnancy Malchut is now in. She really wants to start giving birth, but we are not ready yet. After all, to be born means to have the right desire for unity between us. Then we will break out of Malchut and be born in a new world, the spiritual world.

When we leave Malchut, exit the uterus, we immediately find ourselves in the spiritual world based on bestowal. We are not ready for this yet, and therefore, it would be a premature birth.

When the unification of women into one single woman takes place, everyone will feel that the power of women reigns in the world, like a mother who takes care of a child. So, all men will feel that this force of a mother, a woman, Bina, dominates them and that through her comes the power of bestowal, the inspiration to which all bow and are ready to listen to the voice of the woman who will begin to rule the world.

However, so far, each one of you individually has such a power of desire, but you cannot combine them together to make an impact. Try your best to unite. It all depends on you!

I really hope that we are entering a new era, a new humanity. If women’s strength grows more and more, men will feel how much they need female strength, and so we will move forward together. I wish you and your family health and happiness!

Will This Life Suffice To Attain The Creator?

laitman_962.1Remark: It seems that this whole life is not enough to attain the Creator.

My Comment: If you are really listening to what I say, I promise you that you will be able to fully attain the Creator during your lifetime. After all, this is what the goal of creation is all about. Although it may seem that our life is short, it was created this way, so that we will be able to do it.

It is as if we are standing on the heads of the generations that preceded us in the spiritual work. Our souls have undergone the gradual states of spiritual evolution and so we can speak about these things today. In addition, we cannot even imagine how we can speed up our spiritual development if we begin to do it in a group. Then each of us will immediately increase himself by ten times (according to the number of friends in the group), and then ten times more and so on.

This means that we will infinitely accelerate our spiritual development.

So, do not worry about not having enough time to complete your correction. Anyone who arrives at the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah absolutely has the clear opportunity to do so.

Does Love Exist?

laitman_622.02Question: Does love exist?

Answer: Of course it does.

Love is when I want to fill the other instead of myself. As a mother wants to fill her child, as a friend wants to give everything to another friend, as the Creator wants to fill us, and if we go forward correctly, we want to fill Him.

Love is the desire to fill another.

Turning Anxieties Into Joy

laitman_563Remark: Baal HaSulam writes that joy is an indicator of good deeds. If good actions are not for your own sake, then joy and gladness are revealed.

Answer: Joy in spirituality is the result of the correct actions, while on the earthly level it can be the other way around—you steal and rejoice.

Question: What is a good action?

Answer: Good actions are actions that are similar to the Creator’s.

Question: What level of correction of each person will be sufficient for universal anxiety to be replaced by universal joy?

Answer: For anxiety to be replaced by joy, we need to find the feeling of the Creator.
The feeling of the Creator is called “faith.” That is what we need. Then all anxieties will turn into joy.

Many Fears, One Joy

laitman_571.04Question: If there are 800 types of fear, how many types of joy are there?

Answer: Just one. It is a joy from revealing, attaining, and feeling the Creator.

Look how many movies, musicals, and everything else that humanity has invented on the subject of grief, suffering, and all kinds of conflicts in our world.

And how many happy movies do we have? Some insignificant films. There are not many facets or experiences in something kind, sweet, and joyful.

It is precisely because we exist in egoism and its manifestations are bitter and painful that there are so many shades in it.

Question: Is there joy in relationships with others, for example, in love for a man, a woman, parents and children, the path to the Creator? Or is it just egoism?

Answer: No, it is pure egoism.
