What Creator Are We Praying To?

239Question: If you want something, you start seeing it everywhere. I know this myself. For example, when you want to buy a car, you constantly see this particular make of car everywhere, and before that, you did not pay attention. There are many such psychological studies: suddenly you begin to see things that you did not value before, they were not in your field of vision.

It turns out that we do not see the Creator because we do not appreciate Him. He is not important to us.

The Creator is the quality of bestowal. Is it that bestowal is not important to us? Is it only the quality to receive that is important? Is only this valuable to us? Is that why we do not see Him?

Answer: If we received something from the Creator, we would not pay attention to Him.

Comment: But the whole world still prays to the Creator, and we remember Him when we feel bad.

My Response: This is just in case. We do not pray to the Creator, but to the golden calf—”people perish for metal.” Everyone prays to what they receive egoistic pleasure from.

Question: Which Creator should I turn to?

Answer: To the true one, to the property of bestowal and love. If you have the quality of bestowal and love for your neighbor, then you can turn it to the Creator. If not, you will not turn to the Creator in any way, He will be hidden from you.

Question: Do you want to say that the Creator created other people instead of Himself and gave me a field of activity? If I treat them with love, is it identical to the fact that I treat Him the same way?

Answer: Yes, you will gradually come from love for your neighbor to love for the Creator.

World Not Limited By Egoism

608.02If we could go beyond our narrowly focused intention—to do everything only for our own sake (consciously and subconsciously, by any effort, by force, by all means)—we would begin to feel the world not with our five senses, but as if through the senses of someone else.

The perception of the world through other people’s sensory organs gives us a completely different picture—non-egoistic, above the egoistic one, which we call the upper world. After all, to the extent that we begin to exit ourselves, exit our intention for our own sake and integrate into intention not for our own sake, we discover that previously we were serving the force for our own sake and now we are serving the force for the sake of others.

Intention for the sake of others is called Lishma.

When we acquire this intention, we begin to see the world differently, not depending on us, on our existence, on our actions and desires. This world is called the upper world. Why? We begin to see forces, actions that are above us, higher than us, outside of us because they are not limited by our narrow egoism.

This opportunity to act in an absolute form not for our own sake, which is called Lishma, takes us to the degree of eternity, perfection and gives us the opportunity to exist in a different world, in a different space.

Question: Where is the Creator here?

Answer: The Creator is the general force of bestowal and love, which in this case is revealed to a person since he begins to acquire it outside of himself. To this extent, partially, he becomes more and more acquainted with this great field, the great force that surrounds him in a new dimension, in a new world, which is called the Creator.

What Is The Name Of The Creator?

548.02Question: It says that the ten Sefirot are the names of the Creator. Can we say that the sparks that are called a thin candle and that sustain our world are the names of the Creator?

Answer: No. The 618 sparks are not lights, but small illuminations that lead us forward. They are not names of the Creator.

The name of the Creator is the direct light that enters Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin, and Malchut. When the light reaches Malchut it is reflected backward.

These lights are clothed in each other and create a complex light, which means that a spiritual disturbance takes place in them. Each light is clothed unto the light that is opposite from it, and the combinations between them create the name of the Creator.
It is a very complex system, the connection of the reflected light with the lights that enter.

How To Attain The Creator

622.02Question: The Creator is the root cause. I attain some kind of force that created me. I am the will to receive and there is some force called “the will to bestow.” In order to attain this force, do I need to bestow to the neighbor, that is, to the other person?

Answer: This action is a kind of teaching action, a means to attract upon me the help of this bestowing force, called the Creator, which in this case would simply reformat me.

Question: Does it mean that we cannot contact Him directly, but only through other people?

Answer: No. How can you? You do not have any common qualities, traits, or actions with Him. However, to the extent that you can learn to bestow through the group of other people, you begin to feel the Creator in these actions.

Question: And then I do not need other people, right? Are they just a means?

Answer: In principle, I need other people because only through them do I discover the Creator and can I be connected to Him.

In my final correction, when absolutely all my desires and intentions are corrected inversely from “for my own sake” to “for the sake of others,” I reach the state of my complete correction. That is, from an absolute egoist, the way I am today, I become an absolute altruist, as all our evolution requires of me, which eventually leads us to this.

Thus, the Creator, this force of good, the force of a kind attitude, connection, and love, as if, fills me. This means that I have fully attained the upper world.

Comment: It is not clear why the Kabbalists wrote so secretly about this: “for the sake of the Creator.”

My Response: No, they understood that “for the sake of the Creator” means not for the sake of the stars, not for the sake of the clouds. I believe that the simpler and closer to us we explain it, the better.

Yet, this is still not close. When a person begins to try to do something for the sake of others, he immediately finds himself thinking about himself: “Where am I? What about me? What do I get out of it?” and so on. That is, he understands that here in front of him is a very serious block, an obstacle, some kind of force boundary, a great psychological problem that he simply cannot overcome.

Question: Is the entire point of Kabbalah in this?

Answer: Only in this! We do not need anything else in our world. We suffer in this world only in order for these sufferings to drive us to change of our nature.

Question: That is, to the changing of our intention? What am I doing this action for?

Answer: Yes. Good luck with that!

“On That Day Shall The Lord Be One, And His Name One.”

939.01Question: There is an expression: “And the Lord shall become King over all the earth; on that day shall the Lord be one, and His name one.” What name is this referring to? What does “And His name ‘One’” mean?

Answer: “The Lord shall become King,” which means the force that manages will be revealed and will be clear. “Over all the earth,” over the whole desire that He created. “On that day,” when the whole light will illuminate all the desires. “The Lord” means the only force of good that fills everything. “And His name one,” His name means the ten Sefirot, HaVaYaH, will become one whole. This means that the infinite number of tens will begin to gather together and assemble into one ten, into one HaVaYaH, into the one name of the Creator.

Question: If I understand correctly, the revelation of the names of the Creator is the revelation of the system of ten Sefirot through which the Creator bestows unto the creation in different ways, by different names.

Answer: Yes, absolutely.

There Is No Empty Place In Nature

746.01The whole difference in how much we feel or do not feel the Creator is determined by how much we appreciate Him. Unlike the corporeal world, in the spiritual world there are no distances. The more important the Creator is to me, the closer He is to me. If I disrespect Him and do not want to come closer to Him in my qualities, then I do not see Him.

It turns out that to bring the most high closer or to come closer to Him, I need to change my qualities according to His qualities and begin to appreciate Him.

Yet how can I appreciate the greatness of the Creator if I cannot see Him? In nature, there are many concealed forces that we do not perceive with simple senses, but only through various devices. All modern science works in this way, by revealing phenomena that are invisible to the naked eye. They can be revealed only with the help of special devices or complex calculations.

If we discovered the world only through our natural senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—we would have remained animals. The human degree is special because we are able to discover phenomena in nature that cannot be revealed with our five senses.

This is why we discover radio waves, gravitational forces, magnetic attraction, and celestial phenomena in the universe. All this is above our sense organs.

The Creator is a force that includes all phenomena, the entire world is located inside Him. We are also inside of Him. When we say that the Creator is far away and we are coming closer to Him, these distances are only relative to attaining Him and not in the sense of distance. The Creator may feel far away or close in our attainment, but we all are inside of Him.

The Creator is the place of the world, the entire world exists inside of Him. Therefore, we only need to develop our senses in order to feel that this space; this reality in which we exist is all the Creator.

Then we will discover that there is no empty place in the world. This air around us and the cosmic vacuum beyond the Earth between the stars is not really emptiness but one continuous field of desire that fills all space, operates in everything, and fills everything. All this is the Creator.

We, who are physically weak and limited, can awaken the Creator and ask Him to reveal such senses in us that will make us equal to Him so that by adhering to Him, we also will fill all reality with our desire. After all, we want to come closer to the desire of the Creator—the desire to bestow. Then our work will end in filling the entire universe with ourselves and will be in adhesion with reality itself, which is the Creator.

This is an amazing prospect, and is worth remembering when we are overwhelmed by small, egoistic calculations.

Delight The Creatures

289The Creator’s desire is to delight the creatures. This desire is spread everywhere in the universe. In the space that the Creator has allocated. He created a space, a place, filled it with Himself, and began to create within Himself creations that were opposite of Him so that each creation would attain Him and become completely like Him, since there is no greater perfection than His personal state.

Question: Is this the only truly analog system that covers absolutely everything?

Answer: Yes. But we do not attain it in an analog way, but in discrete step-by-step rapprochement, all the time breaking it up into many parts.

The Creator And Consciousness

610.2Question: When we call the upper force the Creator, we are as if personifying it. If the spiritual space is a field of consciousness, can we talk about the subject to whom this consciousness belongs?

Answer: No. There is no subject.

Question: How can consciousness be without a subject, without an “I”?

Answer: Spiritual space spreads everywhere, fills and includes everything. There is nothing else besides it. And we are inside of it. The concept of “subject,” however, implies that you must limit it by some qualities.

The quality of bestowal, on the contrary, means that everything is outside and nothing is limited. Only bestowal. Everything that exists besides Him, is created by Him in order for His creation to attain Him.

Question: How does the process of cognition take place in the spiritual? Or is there no such thing?

Answer: For the Creator?! No. There is nothing there but the quality of bestowal. Therefore, consciousness at this level does not exist. Consciousness always comes from the fact that something is missing.

Comment: If we are talking about the field of information, then this seems clearer to us.

My Response: But this is in regard to us! We feel this field relative to us, and we cannot say anything about it in itself—who, what, and how—only how we perceive Him in our sensations, how He is revealed in relation to us.

Comment: In religion, of course, everything is mixed up. However, Kabbalistic sources also kind of personify the Creator.

My Response: We need to define this concept in some kind of words: He feels, He thinks, He is angry, He rejoices. Everything we say is only in relation to a person in order to tie him to the Creator. Just as you can talk about some machine, device, or equipment, and project your feelings on this object.

Question: Does this personification disappear when we rise spiritually?

Answer: Absolutely. There is nothing left but the field of bestowal. It is infinite, has no gradation! And only we perform spiritual actions in it.

Understanding The Essence Of The Names Of The Creator

261Question: When we talk about the upper force, we only use one word: the Creator, which is to say the one who creates. Is it possible to understand the essence of all of His names?

Answer: I would not recommend dealing with this now because the names of the Creator are directly related to the degrees of a person’s attainment. It is because the soul, by ascending through the levels of the spiritual world, receives different names, definitions, and codes in each one of them.

It is similar to someone serving in the army and receives ranks: sergeant, lieutenant, colonel, major, general, etc., and each one of the levels indicate the advancement of the person. Here too, the person calls the Creator by different names according to the levels of his attainment. It is no more than that.

Revealing the Creator and giving Him different names—the good who does good, cruel, stubborn, helpful—you indicate His properties that you reveal.

And in Him, all of His properties are in one simple form: only in order to raise and delight the creatures. But you reveal them one by one and you call Him by different names. Thus, these are not names of the Creator but how a person feels the Creator. It is just like when a child calls his mother a bad mother because she scolded him today for some offense he committed. But is she really bad?

So, we cannot attribute these words, names, and appellations to the Creator Himself but only to what a person feels as a result of his still yet uncorrected state. When we attain the Creator completely, then He will be only the good that does good.

Name—The Level Of Attainment Of The Creator

630.1Baal HaSulam writes in his article “Four Worlds“: That is, each name is discerned as giving and receiving, for there is no thought or perception in His essence whatsoever, but rather in influences that come to us from Him.

So the whole creation is the revelation of the action of the Creator, the names of the Creator. A person who follows what happens and connects it with the root, dedicates a name to the Creator. This means that the name is what a person receives when he explores and attains the giver.

Question: What does it mean to follow what happens?

Answer: When we see all the actions of the Creator that descend upon us, we can more or less understand what happens in our individual feelings, and we give Him names based on that. This means that we give Him only personal, subjective names. It is like a small child who suddenly cries out: “Mommy is bad” when she yells at him because of something he has done. We are the same.

Question: What is the difference between a created being that has no name and created beings that have names?

Answer: Created beings that have names are desires that have already attained a resemblance with the Creator to a certain degree and so they have names of their own. A name indicates the level of attainment of the Creator that the created being is on.
