Waiting For The Messiah

Dr. MIchael LaitmanQuestion: What is “the coming of the Messiah”? Have we already entered this period?

Answer: No, the coming of Messiah is the revelation of the force that will take humanity out of its old ego, those that understand and yearn to it, and also those that don’t even feel that they are in the ego.

Therefore it says that man has to be in one of the two extreme states, in the good state or in the bad state. We know this according to our daily spiritual states.

Question: Is there a middle state?

Answer: Middle states do not awaken a need for redemption. Redemption from what?

And I need to expect and yearn for this force to come to me. Such a state needs to be desired, and I, with complete power, should demand the Messiah, attract this force to me, and try to act so that it will pull me forward.

I am in expectation of when it will redeem me from the ego, when it will lift me to general love and bestowal, and I will spread in the whole universe in such a manner that I will not feel myself but only what is outside of me.

The other state is completely opposite to the first state. It is completely egoistic, wild, and scary. But precisely being in it, I understand that I am a complete egoist. I don’t expect and don’t call, because I understand that I exist in it and feel the ego as bad.

In each degree of the spiritual development, we pass alternately between the two states. The transition from degree to degree happens in analogy with change of social formations. If society does not reject its current state completely, it can’t change itself, meaning perform a natural revolution and rise to the next degree. It must tear all the relations that connect it to this degree and rise up. In other words, in order to rise to a higher degree, a negative potential has to accumulate.

Besides, there must be certain dissemination to the public, consent of the masses, inner tension in society, struggle between different classes, etc., that always changes the system. Meanwhile I don’t see these signs in the inner ripening of the society. Therefore we did not yet enter the period of Messiah.”

Connecting Through The Teacher

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe main thing learning is not the study of separate phenomena but of the connections between them: how one phenomenon depends on the other in a direct and an opposite manner. This means that studying provides us with a picture of the connections between all the parts of reality.

This is what we pay most attention to during the lessons. We learn more about the connections between the elements than about the actual elements. It is impossible to study only one thing.

It turns out that a person cannot study by himself. Therefore it is written: “I have learned from all my students.” The teacher doesn’t learn by himself but actually from his students. So if we disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah or teach the integral method, we learn from our students and thus advance.

But if I don’t teach and have no students, I cannot advance. One can only learn from his students, and it is an essential condition. Now we may understand why Kabbalists call us to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah. We are not doing anyone a favor by that but are helping ourselves.

Teaching a student means establishing a connection between him and the Creator. This is actually what a teacher teaches his student: how to connect to the Creator. This means that the teacher is between the Creator and the student as a mediator, a guide, a conductor.

A student connects with the Creator through the teacher whether he wants to or not. Every time he renews his connection with the Creator, whether in a positive way or a negative way, all the changes are through the conductor, through the teacher. No matter what the student does, whether he ascends or descends, he activates this conductor and the teacher gains from that.

It is impossible to connect to the Creator unless you are a guide, a conductor that conveys to the group or to a student. This goes together with the fact that there is no need to correct a person himself, but rather his attitude towards others, including the Creator.

Rid The World Of The Virus Of Anti-Semitism

Dr. Michael LaitmanToday we feel ourselves completely alone in the stormy sea of hatred towards us. During the last half-century we could not even imagine a situation like this. We supposed that anti-Semitism had been a passing phase in the history of humanity.

And suddenly it flares up with a new fury, engulfing scientists, men of culture, science, and psychology, which is to say the most developed and educated part of humanity, not to mention everyone else.

Such an attitude towards us is absolutely irrational; it is within humanity. The outbursts of hatred, like a mental illness, have no connection to the level of cultural, scientific, social, and economic development. They come by themselves and spill out during certain periods of human history.

In our day this comes to be expressed even among those people who never had any connection with us. This hatred towards us is completely not understandable, because they don’t really know who the Jews are.

They hate us because some kind of virus breaks out from within them. For them it is new. It simply breaks out inside them and spreads in all directions.

Throughout the generations, the Jewish people have suffered from a virus with the resounding name “anti-Semitism.” But in our hands there is the method of Abraham, based on the laws, “And you shall love your friend as yourself,” “Don’t do to your friend what is hateful to you,” on the principles of Arvut (Mutual Guarantee) and unity.

As long as we don’t bring this method to our attention, not as a theory but as something practical in daily life and don’t begin to educate ourselves in this direction, we ourselves nourish and open up this general anti-Semitism.

So the attitude towards us will only grow and become more severe from day to day despite any temporary calm and lull, after which comes a new wave of hatred, even greater than before.

We are found within a natural framework, which has repeatedly demonstrated his trend to us. I hope that we understand what must be done and will succeed in regrouping to provide everyone with security and a good future.

Without a doubt, everything that happens between us respectively influences humanity. If we begin to take steps to connect and unite, as one people with one heart, the rest of the peoples will also turn around towards this under our influence.

They have no freedom of choice, so they simply follow us. In fact, immediately, we will see how qualitative changes in our attitudes will cause changes in their attitude between them and with us.

It is impossible for us to forget this; it is worthwhile to consider seriously that the correction of our attitude according to the general rule “Love thy neighbor” will cover the entire world and bring happiness and wellbeing to humanity.

The Kabbalists About The Nation Of Israel And The Nations Of The World, Part 11

The Nation of Israel Is Obliged to Fulfill Its Mission

In a generation in which the children of Israel should deal with correcting themselves and the world but don’t carry out their mission, the destroyers of the world’s people raise their heads and generally desire to destroy the children of Israel. As it says in the Talmud, “All suffering in the world comes for Israel only” because, as stated in the “Tikkun Zohar,” their actions cause hunger, poverty, violence, humiliation, killing and looting throughout the entire world.

After neglecting our mission in the past, we became witnesses of this prediction in The Zohar: six million people were lost. And now we are the only ones that are responsible for everyone’s relation to the method of correcting a person, Kabbalah.

Two Properties That Generate Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanEvery man shall fear his mother and his father [Honor thy father and thy mother]… the Torah, “Leviticus,” 19: 3.

In the spiritual correction it is necessary to properly use the properties of a mother and a father, reception and bestowal, which must be balanced with each other. Reception comes from a mother while bestowal comes from a father, and together they work on a person’s soul.

Each of us has to place and combine both properties internally, so then when they are mixed, they work correctly; otherwise, without them we can’t connect to anyone.

Properties of reception and bestowal, i.e., male and female parts, work together as a plug and a socket where one part goes into another and vice versa. According to a simple analogy, light appears only when a plug goes into a socket. That is, we must always work as follows: I have to receive, the other person has to give, and vice versa. This happens to everyone without exception.

Question: Why is it written: “Fear your mother and fear your father?”

Answer: In order to develop a property of reception in order to bestow, one should always feel if you another chance to do it and do you pass it up. This state is called “fear.”

Regarding Terror, Rising Prices And The Unification Of Society, Part 1

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: The state of the world today arouses much concern: international terror, the uncontrolled growth of extremist terrorist groups like ISIS, the threat of the war of Gog and Magog that was described by the prophets. And in Israel a new intifada has arisen, the economy and the social situation are deteriorating. What can you say about this?

Answer: The situation doesn’t need to be explained. Even so, everyone feels and sees what is happening: intifadas, anti-Semitism, economic problems, the cost of living. These problems have become our daily reality and don’t come down from the daily agenda but only trade places; sometimes this problem pops up above all and sometimes another problem.

And it is necessary to understand that we, the people of Israel, create this picture in ourselves and its transformation from good to awesome depends only upon us.

From my point of view, the most important issue of our time is the growth of anti-Semitism in the world.

This is even more important than the economic problems and even the problems of security within Israel. But the Israelis don’t ascribe significance to anti-Semitism in the world and don’t pay attention to this.

Through closeness between us, among the people of Israel, we can change and transform the general situation throughout the world, even the relationships with the Arab neighbors that surround us and also with the Arab citizens within Israel. All of this depends on us and we can change the situation. The choice between the good way and the bad way is in our hands.

The ball is in our court; we are responsible for peace in the nation and peace in the world, for all the evil and all the good that is found in it. And we have nobody to blame because we ourselves measure the goodness or badness of our common destiny according to the degree of our unity or separation. And the standard is determined only by whether or not we can correspond to the general global nature.

Only we are ready to bring ourselves and after us the entirety of humanity to general harmony. So there is no need to hope that the changes will come from some other people or from UN resolutions. Everything depends only on us; we determine what decision they will get. This is because Israel is the head of humanity.

Understandably, each one can say that he doesn’t agree with this and doesn’t accept it. But together with this, he has no choice, and neither do we. If the world is in crisis, we are to blame; we brought it to this state.

The main thing is to understand the same principle: the solution to all problems is found in unity and connection, even in the struggle with the intifada and in the rise in prices. If we connect, then we can influence the forces of nature, balance our society, attain greater equality, and then lower prices. But this is beginning to be understood even if we aren’t making such a big circle and are not going in the way of the higher system.

It is simply necessary to imagine that if we connect, we will want to approach a bit, equalize with each other, and will succeed in finding a way to lower the prices. In other words, it is possible to conclude this from simple logical deduction.

If we use our method of discussions a circle, then thanks to this patent, this exercise, it is possible to bring people closer to one another; and then each one can give up a little to others and reduce the inequality a bit.

That is how we arouse the good force in society, melting every heart. The main thing is that a person must understand that connection and unity influence our lives and act for the good of our pocket, health, education, the education of our children, and everything else; and this comes from the wisdom of Kabbalah.

A Black Point Is A Point Of Making Efforts

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom Rabash’s article “The Matter of the Returning Light”:

A student who is exiled, his teacher is exiled with him.” Therefore when the lower doesn’t see any greatness in the upper, the lower doesn’t even have smallness.

Thus the lower first has to believe that there is an upper in reality, and that he doesn’t feel the upper because the lower doesn’t see the greatness of the upper.

Therefore, when a person begins to observe that the greatness of the upper, which is called that the AHP of the upper, ascends, the lower also ascends and begins to attain the feeling of Godliness.

A person has to constantly feel and imagine that he is in AHP of the upper. A person’s height is measured according to the connection between the lower level and the upper. We don’t feel the presence of the upper level at all, as if we are all alone in the world. This is called unconscious existence without any spiritual recognition, without the recognition of the upper.

We are in the upper, but we don’t know or feel it. Therefore, we have to make different efforts in order to feel the upper level. We have to be incorporated in it at least as a black point, which in the meantime has no feeling but makes an effort by trying to feel the upper.

The main thing is to make an effort. The problem is that we are waiting for the revelation to come from Above. But how can it come from Above if all of creation has intentionally descended and spread from the top down through different levels so that we will have an opportunity to exert ourselves.

We, however, wait for the Creator to exert Himself instead. This cannot be! Thus we are prolonging the time by waiting for something that will not happen. Days and years go by until in the slowest human pace of natural evolution all the Reshimot (reminiscences) we have to correct accumulate and operate on us in the form of blows and troubles, and then we finally wake up.

But this is already the ordinary, natural way, in its time (the path of suffering), whereas I will hasten it (the path of the Light) means that we look for and try to locate the AHP of the upper we are in by ourselves.

Preventing A Third Intifada, Part 3

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom the moment the wisdom of Kabbalah was revealed to a group of people called the Israeli nation, this nation became responsible for everything that happens to humanity and to all of nature in general.

Israel is responsible for every process in the general evolution and for the fact that all of nature should go through different, perfect phases in the course of advancing towards the ultimate goal.

If there is any distortion and this form is no longer perfect, it is Israel’s fault. They then must feel the stronger influence of the forces that evoke it, forcing it to wake up and bring all of humanity to a state of harmony once more..

This is the perspective from which we have to look at all problems, especially current problems and every event in the entire history of humanity. We should understand that all the intifadas and the anti-Semitism in the world stem from our delay and from our insufficient participation in the evolutionary process of the world. We should have started to pull everyone towards connection and unity a long time ago, starting with all of the Israeli nation and then all of humanity. We should have helped humanity become more connected and united and closer to the perfect ultimate form.

Question: Why do you think we are in a delay?

Answer: We can see it by the pressure that is put on the Israeli nation. The Israeli nation is a clear index. If there is an eruption of violence, it means that we are behind in our correction. We actually summon the imbalance of the positive and the negative forces that cannot reach a state of balance between them by our delay and our refusal to bring the system to a state of harmony at any given moment.

All of humanity is in the middle between these pluses and minuses, between the evil inclination and bestowal, the Creator, and the pressures that affect all of humanity and through it, the Israeli nation. It is actually Israel who has to bring all the others to the perfect form.

This is the reason that it hurts me so to see the eruption of terror, but we have to understand that we are the only ones to blame for what is happening. All the nations of the world only carry out the orders of nature’s forces. They have no freewill and they don’t determine anything. This is the reason that we cannot expect them to correct the situation.

It is fundamentally wrong to expect that the Americans or the Europeans will be able to bring peace to the world or that the Arabs will suddenly change by themselves. We have to think only about how we, Israel, take command and control of nature’s forces and arrange the connection within our own nation.

We are not required to establish connections with anyone, neither the Israeli Arabs, nor with our Arab neighbors or the UN. We don’t need to think about others in order to do our job. This work is done within the Israeli nation. But to the extent that we connect among us internally, the power of this wholeness, the unity, the connection and the love, will pour through us unto the whole world and all of humanity will suddenly begin to calm down and connect.

Then the whole world will come out of the global crisis it is in and all the disputes in the UN and all over the world will come to an end and everyone will quiet down, unite, and hug. It will be a wonderful good state, one great global commune, and it all depends on how the Israeli nation establishes the internal relations between its people.
