Medium published my new article “A Bailout Plan for a Country in Pain”

Look around, we need a bailout plan, and we need it fast. COVID-19 is winning on all fronts, the economy is crashing, anxiety is rising, and aggression is winning. But there are things we can do, if we have the guts, gumption, and grit.

If people stay home idly for more than a few months, they will begin to lose their ability to commit. Once they are in that state, it will be virtually impossible to train them and make them productive for society, and they will remain a weight on the back of society.

First, we need to free the world from the illusion that the coronavirus is a passing phase. It is here to stay. It may not remain the coronavirus that we know today, but its quelling impact on the capitalistic world we’ve known for generations will remain. So whether we like it or not, capitalism as we know it is over, and the sooner we get over the withdrawal phase, the better.

Next, the majority of the job market that we know today will not survive the transition. Anything that is not essential for regular human sustenance will fade, though perhaps not immediately, and the remaining occupations will shrink in size and volume to a fraction of what they are today. Alongside the demise of the old job market, a new scope of jobs will emerge. The New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman referred to them as jobs that “create more value with hearts and between hearts.”

These jobs will be occupations that deal exclusively with bringing people together, increasing mutual responsibility within communities, mutual care and concern, and a sense of accountability and affinity even among strangers. To engage residents in the process, another aspect of this new social work will deal with providing knowledge about the shift that the world is going through. The information will be given via courses that will explain the nature of the change we’re going through, why all of a sudden the economy came crashing down, why we must be responsible for one another like never before, the benefits of such a change of mind and change of heart, and what would happen had we kept going the way we did until the outbreak of COVID-19. The two kinds of training — for enhancing solidarity and providing knowledge — will run side by side and will keep people busy at least as many hours as they would be occupied had they kept working as before, perhaps minus transit time.

Third, the transition period between the capitalist era and the new era must be as short as possible. Human nature loves rest and becomes accustomed to it almost instantaneously. As a result, if people stay home idly for more than a few months, they will begin to lose their ability to commit. Once they are in that state, it will be virtually impossible to train them and make them productive for society, and they will remain a weight on the back of society.

Fourth, alongside the shift in the job market, society will transform its values from admiration of the powerful and narcissistic to esteem for the empowering and altruistic. This will not be a society that worships superheroes, but one that honors those who bring it together in solidarity.

Fifth, preparing the next generation for life in the new world will require changes in the approach to learning, teaching, communication between teachers and students, and between students and students. As in society, so at school, the most commended students will be those who excel in helping their peers work together. The idea isn’t a novel one; it’s been around for more than a decade. Perhaps the best expression of the practicality of collaborative learning is a quote that patent lawyer Lawrence Ebert J.D. found in an essay about high-school cheating: “In no industry is collaboration considered cheating. Only in school is this a problem. What are we teaching our kids?”

We have very little time to make the change. COVID-19 is pressing and old certainties are crumbling. Fringe groups have become mainstream and extremities the norm. If the bailout plan begins without delay, it can take us across the water to the other bank in relative calm and safety. If we let the current carry us where it is going, we will drown.

From high-end venues such as Neiman Marcus through discount retailers such as Tuesday Morning, to car rental giant Hertz, veteran businesses all over are filing for bankruptcy faster than anyone can update the list. Here are just some of the big names that COVID-19 either crushed or handed them the final blow: J. Crew, Neiman Marcus, Stage Stores, Brooks Brothers, J.C. Penney, Tuesday Morning, GNC Holdings, Lucky Brand Dungarees, Gold’s Gym, Pier 1 Imports, Hertz, CEC Entertainment, and this is hardly the beginning of the list.

The heroes of tomorrow will not be movie stars or Instagram icons; they will be people who bring people together, who promote solidarity and mutual responsibility.

It’s not as if the coronavirus started the trend. Just last year, Gymboree, Payless Shoesource, Forever 21, Diesel, and many other big, medium, and small retailers filed for Chapter 11. While it is true that these stores fell prey to the online commerce revolution, it is still a sign that we are seeing the end of an era.

Accelerated by the virus, a process of abandoning the brands and embracing the basic is happening the world over, with America as the trailblazer. It is not only that people’s need to show off their high end tech-gadgets and trappings is diminishing; they also need less of them. The coronavirus-induced lockdown landed a big blow on sales everywhere, and some recovery is to be expected, but the general trend is downward.

People are changing; they are losing interest in buying gadgets that are here today, gone tomorrow, and leave nothing but emptiness in their wake. Instead of stuff, people are beginning to look for meaning in more lasting engagements, and mainly in human connections. It is simply that life has become so cold behind the text messages, and so limited behind the cellphone screen, that people need some real connection—connection of the hearts.

The heroes of tomorrow will not be movie stars or Instagram icons; they will be people who bring people together, who promote solidarity and mutual responsibility. The most admired individuals of the emerging era will be those who quietly make others feel that heart to heart connection is what makes them happy, what gives them confidence, and what they would like to feel from now on.

Question: During the coronavirus epidemic, our planet has calmed down. It became less seismically active. The isolation of people in their homes and the fact that they do not work in plants and offices has allowed us to listen to the Earth and what is happening inside it.

Now scientists can finally make correct measurements. It turns out that human activity has caused all the unrest, anxiety, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and so on.

Among other things, we know how nature reacts to everything. All of a sudden, in Santiago, Chile, a puma was seen walking around the city and a deer walking in the suburbs of London. Wild animals practically approach cities.

We wanted to invest billions, trillions of dollars in gradually restoring nature, planting trees, cleaning the oceans, etc. So, maybe these trillions should be invested in keeping people at home and nature will restore itself as a result? That is, to allocate funds for educational programs, to educate people all the time, for a lifetime. And nature will recover by itself.

Answer: Great idea. I totally agree with you. The main thing is not to put your hands in it. And everything will be well.

Let nature recover. Do not interfere and it will recover. You cannot imagine what it will do! The globe will rotate in a different way, the sun will shine in a different way, birds, anything you want, everything will change. We will measure the main parameters after a while, I am not talking about the atmosphere, and we will be surprised, it will be as if we are on another planet!

Everything that we decide, we decide through our egoism. Nature cannot handle it. We can do nothing good, nothing until we correct our egoism! And only after correcting our egoism can we act, to the extent of our correction, in the right way.

Most importantly, correct yourself and not nature. By correcting himself, man will step a bit aside from nature, and he will understand that he does not need to interfere in anything! Only to fit in beautifully into this integral picture of nature.

We do not understand its integrality, its perfection. We just need to turn off our brains, put away our hands, and stop using them until we correct our egoism.

Question: In what would you invest this fortune of money, donations that were spent on restoring nature?

Answer: In restoring human nature. That is, for training, for correction of human egoism. Nothing else! This is our biggest enemy, and it will not supply us with anything good in the future. And in the near future. Nature will smash us heavier than this virus.

How many billions, how much money, have we invested in our development, and you will see how now, in the near future, we will have to get rid of all this and leave only the most basic and necessary for our existence. And nothing more!

Question: Who can draw up such a program to correct man, correct his egoism?

Answer: It does not need to be made; it exists. We must now apply it seriously to all living creatures on Earth.

From now on, we must not do anything to another person if he does not want it. As Hillel said: “That which you hate, do not do to your friend.”

Imagine what the Earth will be like when we achieve at least this! This is only the first part of the program when you do no harm to another person. And the second part of the program is when you do only good to others.

Nature requires this from us. It will lead us to this. Today we are for the first time in the history of mankind at a level of development that has never existed!

The program itself does everything. Everything is resolved at different stages. It is being implemented, and everyone agrees. What can we do?

And now we do not need to ask what we can do but how we can help this program. How to approve of it and make it desirable. And then in every family, in every community, in the city, in the state, on the whole Earth, there will be a friendly atmosphere.

That is all. We just need to try and let nature work on us. We must understand and support it with our inner strength and aspirations so that all this happens.

Question: There are surprising statistics in China. A huge number of divorces happened while sitting at home due to the coronavirus. Then suddenly, other statistics appeared.

Answer: People want a reliable partner because they have become convinced that home is important, and they will have to stay at home who knows when and for how long. They want to have a reliable partner with whom the person can really see himself sitting in such confinement next time because they feel that they are not out of this virus yet.

I feel that this is very important to them. And it doesn’t matter whether or not there will be a virus and when, but there is a need to be with a person who is reliable, good, convenient, simple, easy, with whom you practically do not feel confined.

Answer: Yes. These marriages will be stronger. Because the person felt what it means to be with the one with whom he was. These will be very interesting marriages.

How well they are going to be, I don’t know. But I think that a person, who has lasted a month or two with a family or even without a family, just with a partner in such confinement, already understands what he needs.

Answer: Of course, as it is with nature. The virus forces us to be integrally connected: I give to nature and nature gives to me. So it is with my partner: I give to my partner and my partner gives to me.

Question: According to a sociologist of fashion, fashion is coming to an end. Now the top fashion houses like Versace, Armani, Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel whom the world followed, will have to reconsider everything they were based on.

What do you think they should come to? In your opinion, what is your ideology of future fashion?

Answer: The ideology will be built through the blows to our egoism. It will teach us to do what is comfortable for us and for others. And this will appear beautiful to us.

Beauty is in simplicity, and in something that is easy to communicate, and you feel free with, and not that it strikes and crushes, like in royal palaces.

Remark: But still, it captured the imagination.

Answer: That time is over.

Question: What is the root of this phenomenon. Why was it like that?

Answer: To impress gentlemen! Gentlemen were raised to be impressed by such ladies.

Question: How do we connect fashion to egoism’s development?

Question: What would you recommend to famous trendsetters?

Answer: To clarify that their time has passed. Let them switch to another style that is comfortable.

Everything must be done very practically, so that a person is comfortable and simple. That is most important. And praise this image. And whoever makes it the most practical, in the material, the cut, and convenience, so that it can stretch and not constrict a person. People should look and say “this person is practical, this person understands a lot about life.”

Remark: But you know that my questions and your appeal are addressed mainly to women. It is women, one way or another, who will regulate fashion and demand. They will be ignited and demand something and the race will begin again.

My Comment: I don’t think that everything will return to the same. Humanity has matured a little, slowed down. It is like the difference in the worldview of a girl and a woman with a child.

And now, as if everything is ready. We sat with families and children, and survived this virus. And now we must continue to live somehow differently, to adapt to the next virus. And scientists are already talking about this, both doctors and virologists.

So, I think that we will take a different direction.

Question: I really liked the comparison that there was a girl who liked everything beautiful, with sparkles, because she had a goal—to like.

And now she has already become a woman, she has children, a family. She does not need to like, but only to make it comfortable for the family. Even figuratively speaking, she matured. Now, after a virus outbreak, does she begin to understand more?

Answer: Of course. She gained a sober outlook toward life and the world. The demands are totally different.

Remark: The time of the epidemic brought forward people of low-ranking professions, like drivers, nurses, deliverymen, and cashiers. Now the important person is the one who delivers to the door, connecting us.

97% are household assistants, medical caretaking personnel, nurses, midwives, salesmen, and so on. That is, in the last 30 years everything was the other way around. A person with a diploma, with three degrees, with a PhD, a doctoral dissertation, and a professorship were considered quite necessary and important people.

And suddenly now the necessary, simple professions came to the forefront.

My Comment: Nature itself, our society, will allocate the necessary professions both in quantity and quality. Unnecessary universities, professions, and everything else will be closed.

However, there are a large number of professions that we need and value their qualifications.

We need to build houses; we need engineers, technicians, and technologists. We must produce cars and everything but not overburden ourselves with excesses. In anything!

This is the most important thing that the virus must do in us. It should give a person a sense of sufficiency, saturation, and fulfillment. We must evaluate everything as to how necessary it is.

Everything will be aimed at optimization. The main law of nature is that the interaction between its parts is integral, mutually complementary, correct, and accurate when you do everything that is necessary for the other, and the other does what is necessary for you, and thus you are merged.

Question: Who do you call a scientist in such a world?

Answer: A scientist is someone who understands this principle of the integrality of nature and can apply it, at least in some of the fields, and perhaps in everything.

The most important thing is to understand the principle of the integrality of nature, when everything that is done is necessary in order to complete it to integrality, to the circle, to the sphere.

This is how we must participate in it. We should only complete it. For example, is such and such profession needed anywhere, and if yes, in what quantity, in what quality, in what perspective, and so on. And if not, then we remove it.

Any profession, anything can be necessary. I approach it from the point of view that I do not understand anything about it, but let’s try to figure it out. This requires a really thoughtful, correct relationship between people when they look from the point of view of the correctness of their connection into a single society.

Question: What will be the most important professions?

Answer: The most important professions are those that teach the correct interaction of people with each other in their optimal, not excessive, complementation of each other.

Question: In the UK, under the law, a person is criminally liable starting from the age of ten. “Criminal liability from the age of ten—isn’t it too early?”—ask researchers, parents, sociologists, and psychologists.

When you are ten years old and British, the law severely restricts your rights. You cannot drink, smoke, vote, or get married. You cannot even get a dog or a cat on your own. You are under-age.

However, when it comes to murder, ten-year-olds are tried as adults. In England and Wales, the age of criminal liability starts at ten.

Can a person at such a young age understand what murder is if he commits it in a state of fervor or passion?

Answer: For this, he must be brought up in a certain style. The upbringing in Britain used to be very serious. Even now, in universities, you can see what bug-eaten benches they sit on and what plates they eat from—these are cracked earthenware plates from 200 years ago. Researchers are wondering: even outside of the framework of the movie, are children able to take responsibility for their actions in such cases?

Answer: It is hard to say. Neither children nor adults are. Neither children nor adults! It is not a question of age but of what training and education they had received.

Question: Then how can we judge them correctly?

Answer: There is no way to judge them if they are not ready to be judged and judged correctly.

Society is to blame for not giving them proper training, for not educating them in the correct way, for their behaving in this way, and for their father behaving in this way. It is society! We should not blame the parents, and that is what happens.

And do not think that people will be similar to each other. They will not. We do not standardize people. But after that, this will be our responsibility.

And today too, it is our responsibility! How can you hold a ten-year-old child responsible? We show him all sorts of deformities on TV, he sees the hell knows what in the family. How can they act differently? There is no way.

Who should be punished? Those who are responsible for the upbringing are not even the parents. What about these poor parents? What kind of parents can they be? We need to put the ministry of education and upbringing in jail.

Question: You said that we will depict an image of a new person and educate the generation according to this image. Can you show us an image of a new person?

Answer: The image of a new person is very simple. It is someone who understands their personal responsibility for the entire society and lives the life of society. In other words, the main thing is to support society so that it is always in a good state.

That is it. When there is such an atmosphere, everything will be alright.

But this must be monitored! The police, the ministry of education, and the ministry of upbringing should still exist. Upbringing! After all, upbringing is not the same as education.

And everything, starting from kindergartens, should be subordinated to this. Then people will be healthy both mentally and physically.

My Comment: A lie is what a person adds to the information he has in order to somehow embellish, exaggerate, his or someone else’s actions.

Remark: We know that the Torah says: “Get away from lies.” What is the lie it is necessary to get away from and what is the lie that is not necessary to get away from?

My Comment: Truth is a gradual, constantly progressing disclosure of the Creator in our world. And a lie is something that prevents this disclosure.

Remark: Kabbalah says that all qualities, all properties, are needed.

My Comment: In order to use them or not to use them.

Question: And how can a lie be used correctly for human development?

Answer: It allows us to get away from what is called a lie. Or it can be used to help people, on the other hand, with the negative.

There are things that I know and don’t say, and I even lie to others because by doing this I arouse positive qualities in them.

Question: Then could you name the main criterion for the negative quality of the lie and the positive one?

Answer: Only if you act for the benefit of a person outside of you, only in this way will you find the right criterion.

Question: But is there any principle, a person can always relying and never lose?

Answer: Here is this principle: when you act for the benefit of another person, then in the end, in the long run, you will always win. That is, take the truth as a reference and use it, and never take a lie against it. And then you will be moving toward the goal of creation.

Comment: In the times of the coronavirus, we are bombarded with reports of new cases and the number of the deceased. A person reads it all, absorbs it. Naturally, he develops a growing fear of death.

My Response: We are being frightened like little children. We are being provoked!

Question: What’s good about that?

Answer: It is for us to grow up! Not to stay as little children.

Question: What does our growing up entail? Thinking more about life and death? Or something else?

Answer: About its purpose! Nature gives us a hint about what we have to do. This is such help! You are being taught. We have to be grateful to this virus!

Nature doesn’t do anything without a reason. It is better that it teaches us this way than through a third world war, which we were speculating was nearing and thinking we couldn’t avoid it.

Question: What attitude should one have toward death? One way or another this question arises, especially now when one might end up on a ventilator. I am asking about my attitude toward death. What should it be now when we hear about it constantly?

Answer: You should have a serious attitude about it. Death is not an accident, it is a necessary state inherent in nature that we must go through. Death separates us from our animal body, my “I” is detached from the body, and we can be transitioned into the following states.

We can read an article about it. Here I have my teacher’s book, his articles. He writes what a person must do in order to rise above this life. Everything is written in Kabbalah.

Comment: This is written by a Kabbalist, while I am asking you about a simple person today.

My Response: What do you want with a simple person? He is like a small child, he is playing around, and he is not interested in these questions.

Comment: Can you lift me above death, help me cope with fear somehow? Tell me something about that, if you can.

My Response: I must not. Or you will begin to strive for it. You will stop being afraid of it.

Question: Should I be afraid?

Answer: Yes. Because the fear, the unknown is there specifically to encourage you to correct yourself in this world.

Question: So that I would want to rise above death, above fear?

Answer: That’s what the coronavirus reminds you of. Meaning, it is on your side; it is your friend; it cares about you. It says: “Look, you’re on the edge. So, come on, we still have time to do something that will allow us to pass this line beautifully, easily. It doesn’t even matter how. The most important thing is that you will find your world, that is, the future world, while in this life.”

Question: If I treat the virus this way, will my attitude toward life and death change?

Answer: Everything will change. We do everything in this world based on the fact that we die. And if we knew that we were not dying, but transforming, then we would act differently, in accordance with this transformation. Just as you are now working toward a pension, or a vacation, or something else, you still think not like a small child, but further ahead. So, we really need this motivation.

Comment: Please clarify the term “reincarnation.” For many, this is an “Indian” concept.

My Response: Oh no, we don’t transform into birds or trees, or anything like that.

Comment: “If you lived like a tree, you’ll become a baobab.”

My Response: No, not at all. As a matter of fact, this is very interesting. When I was in India, I saw how much this helps people accept things in life, live with them, and remain calm, philosophically inclined. But this is not the level we’re talking about. Although, when a billion people around you think this way, whether you like it or not, involuntarily you somehow fall into it.

Question: What kind of reincarnation are you referring to?

Answer: We are speaking only about the internal transformation, about the spiritual state ,of a person.

Question: Which changes how?

Answer: It becomes free of egoism. This is the transformation from this world to the upper world.

Question: When I start treating others with love?

Answer: If you start practicing this today, you would already start perceiving the upper world in your relation to another.

Question: So this is love and bestowal toward others? This is the upper world? If I start feeling this, I will begin to rise above death?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And death, does it only exist when I live for myself?

Answer: That is pure death.

Question: Living for oneself. So, actually, we are all living in the world of death?

Answer: Yes, this is what it is called.

Question: And it seemingly does not exist?

Answer: Indeed.

Comment: A person still feels sorry to leave his relatives, friends, habits, vacations, the sea.

My Response: Like a child holding on to his toys.

Question: Yes. Sometimes he comes across these toys, and he sighs a little: “I have lived.” He still feels sorry to leave any of it. How do you feel about these toys?

Answer: Only for the purpose of ascending to the upper world, only in order to master an even greater setting for giving, for love, for coming out of oneself, above oneself—only this is worth living for. Otherwise, it only serves to fill oneself with such a minute pleasure that immediately fades, disappears, or changes; it is certainly not worth it. I think the virus will help us.

Question: What is your personal attitude toward death?

Answer: I am completely at peace with it. Absolutely. I agree with the upper governance, whatever it does.

Question: Does agreeing with the upper force calm one down? That is, one immediately annuls before it?

Answer: Yes. It doesn’t matter what state a person is in. The main thing is that he accepts everything from above and in this way tries to be adhered to it.

Question: Please offer advice to a regular person, how should he treat his fears now?

Question: The uncertainty associated with the epidemic and about how long it will last is reflected in the psyche of children and parents. Answer: We are going through a reprogramming of our attitude toward ourselves and the world. The person in us is changing. That is, everything is changing.

This is what is happening to all of us; we all are participating in it. We need to explain all of this.

Question: Do you think people will listen when they are in such a state?

Answer: They will hear precisely because they are in such a state. Because it is all very important to them. Of course, they will hear!

Question: We have to say: “Look, the epidemic will not end tomorrow. But you have to make peace in this world of yours. How do you do it?” How can they make at least relative peace at home between parents and two or three children?

Answer: We need to constantly play among ourselves in the future world.

You will not see what is simply happening to us, but what opportunities it is giving us. It turns out that it needs our cooperation, our partnership. This is where we should be.

The internal force in this program is the upper force of nature because it is manifested specifically in man, and man is still the highest stage of the development of nature. It changes him and is directed precisely at him.

Answer: The sooner we get to the integral interaction of all parts of nature, the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and most importantly, human, the sooner we come to the conclusion that this is an integral system of interaction, mutual support, etc., the faster we will get to the state of happiness, fulfillment, eternity! Not mortification, as it is today, but eternity and perfection. All this will be awakening between

us. We will see it in front of us.

The virus is bringing us liberation from our egoism! If we wish it, of course.

Question: What is a good attitude?

Answer: To be in absolute interaction. Parents, children, grandparents, and so on. We all are the same elements of the single system. This is the first thing.

The second one is, pets are a must! You treat them in such a way that they feel your attitude to them and feel their attitude to you: what you demand from them so that this is all built on interaction. Do not treat them as animals, and do not treat them as equal to you. You must treat them as elements of the creation, from which you demand a correct, reasonable response.

Question: How should I treat children?

Answer: The same is true about children. Children are actually adults who simply have a much more limited understanding of the world around them. But to the extent that they understand it, they are obliged to reasonably participate in it. And you have to explain it to them, to treat them like that, and they will understand it.

You correct yourself and your soul by the way you treat children and household members.

Question: How should one treat one’s wife or one’s husband?

Answer: In exactly the same way as oneself! That is, the most important thing is that you support each other in your mutual actions, in understanding what is happening to you.

Question: What are my concessions regarding the other, so as not to suppress him, but to comply with him?

Answer: I annul myself in order to be the correct element in the system of the universe. I have a reasonable attitude to everything.

Question: Because we are inside the system and must correspond to it?

Answer: Yes. The integral system of nature should reveal before us, inside us, around us, more and more in our sensations, and in it we will see this huge program called “the Creator.”

We are in one system, in one world, in one globe, in one sphere. Inside this sphere everyone is equal; everyone is interconnected; everyone is friendly; everyone is connected by the feelings of mutual love, concessions, and mutual assistance. Nobody thinks about himself, but thinks only about others.

This is the law of the interconnected integral system of the world. We will necessarily get to it. But the sooner we get to it, the sooner we will understand what nature, the Creator, demands from us, and we will really discover a wonderful future.

Question: Is this what the virus wants from us? Is it launched into the world by this system?

Answer: Yes, of course. Where else does it come from? It has existed in it, we just have not been able to discern it. By our creepy behavior, we eventually squeezed it out of there. And now it appears from the opposite side.
