Spiritual Genetics

Laitman_115_04Question: Are there two types of software operating simultaneously in the Israeli nation: the egoistic software of Babylon and the altruistic software of Abraham?

Answer: The egoistic software actually existed in those who joined Abraham. Their egoism developed according to a particular system, and they kept ascending above their ego and connected according to Abraham’s method. The other Babylonians, on the other hand, did not overcome their egoism and did not connect, and so it developed in them in a different manner, unfelt and very slowly; that is, they drew away from one another and spread all over the globe.

It turns out that the Jewish people were much more egoistic than all the other nations, but at the same time, they already knew the method of connecting by which they ascended above their ego. There were already two lines of conduct in them, the egoistic line and the altruistic line parallel to it, and they developed along the two lines. This is Abraham’s method, and whoever accepts this method and lives by it is called the people of Israel (Am Israel). “Israel” – “Yashar El” means straight to the Creator, to the upper force that governs the world, to the attribute of love and bestowal.

We are connected to this method whether we like it or not. We carry it inside us! Our nation actually was founded on the basis of this method, and although we don’t feel it, it is embedded in us on an internal, spiritual level.

The Jewish people are a very interesting group of people that has existed for thousands of years and it has been studied in depth. But it is impossible to discover its spiritual inclination on the genetic level because it is on a level that is not expressed by any genetic attributes. It is actually this level that the nations of the world feel in us because it is the strongest. There are people who look at a person and say, “This is a Jew!” How do they see that if he comes from South America and has red hair, for example? There is something in a person that people actually feel, although it is hidden.

Don’t Put Off Until Tomorrow

laitman_934Baal HaSulam, “The Last Generation,” Part 1, Section 12: However, a secular return such as today’s does not impress the nations whatsoever, and we must fear lest they will sell Israel’s independence for their needs…

Question: Does it follow that if the Jews don’t realize the program of the last generation, then they will sell the independence of Israel for their personal needs?

Answer: Recognition of the independence of Israel was a very interesting action because Israel was founded by the nations of the world. In its day, through the decision by the United Nations, the possibility was given to the Jewish people to return to their historical birthplace. If the nations of the world did not want this, nothing would have happened. This was done intentionally from above through the forces of nature so that the nations of the world, without understanding it themselves, would themselves lay the foundation for their future correction.

The people of Israel had to return to this land and realize itself as a united people and then, as it is written in the Torah, it could become a Light to the nations, meaning that it would show them an example of how it is necessary to properly cooperate mutually internally and externally.

The world is waiting for this from us. But if the wait is too long, then the backlash will begin again. For example, if I wait for a good attitude from some person, for love, for mutual cooperation, for a good heart, but instead of this get disrespect and disdain from him, then what appears in me is something from a sharp antipathy to real hatred, which is commonly called anti-Semitism.

So, if we don’t want to realize our true individuality, meaning the unity, that no one besides us can accomplish, to show the world and to teach it, then the anti-Semitism and hatred toward us will continue to grow more and more. This will bring a new annihilation, a new Holocaust. This is programmed in nature; we have no choice! On the other hand, to the contrary, if the people will understand that we exist to unite and that it is up to us to give an example of this to the whole world so that following this it will go and also reach unity, then in this manner we will discover the higher power in our world.

We find some kind of elevator for ourselves that will bring us up to the next level of existence where we exist in adhesion and in the merger of our souls into one single soul in which the higher power and the new method for our existence called the “upper world” is revealed that is eternal and perfect, which is not connected in any form to our physical body. The body is given to us only so that we can realize the connection between us. If we begin to unite today, without putting this off until tomorrow, we immediately will feel that we are causing some kind of positive response from the higher nature. This is what we must and can do.

The Intellectuals In Israel Bring The Boycott Upon Themselves

laitman_547_05In the News (inosmi.ru): “Around a week ago all of the heads of the public universities in Israel came to the President’s House to talk with the president about the academic boycott against Israel that is growing in the world….It is up to us to mobilize and stop the process in the European nations and in the United States. Anti-Israeli student organizations were very few in the past and today they are in all the leading universities.

“The hypocrisy that is dripping from this meeting and from the complaints of the heads of the Israeli academia regarding the matter of the boycott that is rolling towards the doorstep of academia in Israel is breaking records. For many years lecturers working in these universities openly called for boycotts of the nation of Israel and called it a colonialist, students were allowed to demonstrate against the existence of the nation and to call for disobedience in the name of a hypocritical and false ‘freedom of expression.’

“Faculty heads and professors refuse to admit that there is a severe political and anti-Zionist bias in humanities and social science circles and any attempt at a meaningful criticism of this trend is repulsed with absolute and devoutly fundamentalist derision more compatible with marketplace charlatans than to people whose first inclination said to be pulsating in them is an inclination towards curiosity and the quest for truth. When bodies like Im Tirtzu and academia monitor the outcry, they behave like thundering prophets and warn about the end of democracy.”

My Comment: The communities of professors in the universities in Israel are trying to whitewash and purify themselves, separating themselves from the nation, but they are bringing about their own “death.” Nobody in the world accepts them as “one of them.” Their shortsightedness is revealed more and more clearly. Until recently there was a need among them to delegitimize Israel, but now there is need for this and the boycott applies first and foremost to themselves!

Shavuot: The Festival Of Light In The Israeli Chaos

laitman_933Question: The Shavuot holiday is approaching, the festival of the giving of the Torah. But the atmosphere in Israeli society is not at all festive.

Our brothers in the south are afraid that soon they won’t have anything to eat, Dimona is bubbling; there are conflicts in Jerusalem between Jews and Arabs, and great corruption covers the country. Every day there are new scandals among the police, in the prosecutors’ office, and in the underworld.

When I think about the holiday of the giving of the Torah, the question occurs to me: “Maybe we don’t need this Torah? If we were to succeed in achieving only one Mitzva (commandment) in life, ‘thou shalt not steal,’ then life would already become much better.” How is this holiday to be perceived in all the Israeli chaos?

Answer: We do not fit this holiday. We don’t have a connection to the Torah. And even though at some time we received the Torah, we have lost it along the way. The Torah is a force that changes and corrects human nature. We are all egoists, as it is said, “I created the evil inclination” (Kiddushin 30b). The Creator announces that He created only the evil inclination, the ego, and nothing else. And counter to the ego, He gave the Torah. Apparently the Creator is saying to us: “If you want to get rid of slander, theft, robbery, and all the problems, all the evil that you cause each other, this is possible! But don’t think that you can do this by yourselves. Nothing will help you, not a new government, no one and no thing, only the Torah! But what kind of Torah? The Light that Reforms.”

Question: Does it follow that first of all we must want to be released from the evil inclination that devours us? Does the Israeli society have such a desire today?

Answer: We are approaching this state. At the time we left Egypt, we felt that we could no longer tolerate this state called “Egypt,” which was tearing us to pieces, inserting the evil, our ego into us, and we were not prepared to tolerate each other, so we fled from there.

Question: After the Exodus from Egypt we received the Ten Commandments, including, “thou shalt not steal”?

Answer: We received all of the Ten Commandments because we wanted them. The condition was placed before us: “Do you want to be guarantors for each other? Do you want to become as one person with one heart? Do you want to be Jews (Yehudi from the word “Yichud” [unity]), meaning living in unity with each other? So please, accept the Torah! If not, you will continue on this way, and here will be your burial place.”

Question: Why does God say to a person: “Thou shalt not steal,” if He created him with a nature that wants to steal?

Answer: It is to counterbalance your egoistic nature you exist in; you will understand that all theft, all problems, and all the evil that you cause others and to yourself are derived from this nature and you will no longer be able to continue like this. For this nation cannot exist for long in a state like this. We see that problems are created around us about which we have no choice, and that it is impossible to continue on this way. It has never been revealed to such a degree. So people thought that it was in our power to correct something, and if not the right, then the left, if not the left, then the right or the centrist parties could do something. Every person who achieved power thought that he could change something. But we see that a person on his own doesn’t have the power to change himself. This is possible only on condition that he accepts the Torah as a means of correction.

Question: What is the Torah that it can change a person?

Answer: Only if we want to connect, if we understand that our entire correction is in the unity between us—according to the principle “as one man with one heart,” “don’t do to your friend what is hateful to you” (Shabbat 31a), “you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18), and “all of Israel are brothers”—if we want this to be realized among us there is a unique force that is hidden in nature which is called, “The Upper Light” or “The Torah.”

Question: Where is this force hidden? In what place is it?

Answer: There is no place. You simply don’t feel it. But you can derive this force and use it on condition that you begin to connect with others and want to unite with them. So the condition for receiving the Torah is to unite and to be as one man with one heart, to try to become like that, and to want to be responsible for each other. It is when all of us want to be rid of that evil in which we exist.

All of us together, from the representatives of the Supreme Court to the simplest people, all of us must correct ourselves. And we have no possibility of doing this other than by accepting that Light that Reforms with the help of the Torah of truth and the wisdom of Kabbalah. This wisdom was concealed until lately, because it was waiting until we reached a state of complete exhaustion. And now it is revealed and it explains to us how we can use the true Torah whose Light reforms through the wisdom of the Light.

If we begin to connect between us correctly, in groups of ten people (just as Moses once divided the people into tens, hundreds, and thousands), and arrange special workshops to learn how to unite together in which each one nullifies himself before the others, wants to be integrated with the others, and feels that he is wholeheartedly together with the others, then it follows that we leave our ego, our “I” outside of the circle; whereas, within the center of the circle we insert our desire for unity. And suddenly in the center of the circle we begin to feel a unique force that comes to us from nature. This is a real force; it is possible to measure and feel it. You discover it like all the forces of nature. This force is called “Torah” and it begins to correct your evil inclination, the force of rejection, hatred, the force that compels you to steal, to lie, and to do harm to others.

Question: Does it follow that the Torah is a force?

Answer: Yes. The Light that Reforms is called Torah. The five books of the Torah are books that describe these same laws. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains how we can use the Torah so that this Light will “come out,” will be revealed, and will connect us. Then we attain love and unity between us according to the principles of “love thy neighbor as thyself” and “all of Israel are brothers.” We don’t have this now, not among the secular, not among the religious, there is no love with anyone. But we must want to acquire it. To do this we are given the revelation of evil from above. And look in what form we are discovering it: Nobody can be “inoculated” from it, the evil is discovered everywhere, throughout the nation, among all types of people!

But if we become conscious of this evil and will want to unite, then from our efforts a force will be revealed among us that will begin to connect us. We will feel that we are in a unique field in which we work together in adhesion with this force that is revealed among us. We will begin to feel it as higher, and this is called the revelation of the Creator to His creatures in this world. We begin to discover Him and to feel Him according to our inner changes. This is specifically what we must do.

So in the wisdom of Kabbalah it is written that we are in a unique generation that will discover the higher power. And so we need to look at our lives differently: Not seeing everything as evil, but understanding that it is good if we discover the evil in us because it leads us toward discovery of the Creator, the higher power, the Light, and raises us to another level of existence, to the next level of human development.

War

laitman_765_1Opinion (Dmitry Zimin, founder of The Dynasty Foundation): “We see how people are running around on Earth with a powerful 21st century weapon in their hands, and yet their brains are in the Middle Ages….

“We have to marvel at the fact that people with modern scientific and technological achievements, information technology, haven’t the slightest idea of how this world is built, not to mention human society. Even to some genetic degree humanity can have a negative influence on choice: Its average IQ is not great, but small, simply because intelligence is not that necessary for a person surrounded by the wonderful comforts of home. He doesn’t need to be saved from predatory beasts or be concerned about food.

“The fruits of what we call civilization and culture were created by a minute stratum of people, but are accessible to billions, sparing them from the concerns and difficulties of life. And the result of this is their gradual transformation into wild men, the traces of which have become so recognizable in our day. Otherwise how else is it possible to explain this wave of hatred that has arisen at lightning speed when people who were close suddenly fight with each other and become enemies? It precisely now that education has become the most important task. It could be that only education can stop the insanity of what is happening.”

My Comment: I think that education and information will not help! What is required is awareness of the need to unite everyone above all the differences and oppositions. But there are no forces for this. The “evil inclination,” egoism, separates us and causes us to reject each other. There exists only one force against it, the “good inclination,” the Upper Light.

Only Jews and everyone who joins them in this effort can awaken its influence on all of us. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains to us, this possibility of correcting our nature. Humanity is pressuring the Jews with the help of hatred and boycotts. They must demand that the Jews draw the Upper Light, the power of unity, into our world. Only this alone is required for our world.

Only A Unity Day, Part 1—Why Don’t They Like Us?

laitman_938_02Israelis have no idea that the Jewish nation has a mission and a debt to the world. Consequently, they tend to explain the general hostility towards our nation as elementary envy.

They don’t understand what is going on; they believe that a developed state that has grown, literally, from scratch, may be the cause of the hatred of other nations. Another explanation is the religious conflicts, but this attempt is also insufficient.

In fact the world doesn’t need many reasons to hate someone. Everyone has already gotten used to the idea that the Jews are a different sort and that it is quite legitimate to hate them.

Today, Israel finds itself facing the threat of a boycott. Members of the right and the left political map blame one another for this situation, but the real reasons are much deeper than that. Tomorrow they will find new pretexts for this persecution, more or less successful, but there is no point delving into such nonsense.

The hatred people feel towards us didn’t start today or yesterday. It makes no difference what excuses there are for it; there is only one real reason for this hate, which is that we don’t bring goodness to the world.

So instead of discussing our relations with the Palestinians, I suggest a very simple solution described in the Torah and in the wisdom of Kabbalah: We have to become as one man in one heart according to the principle that all of Israel are responsible for one another. It is time to put an end to the mutual hatred between us. Let’s unite more closely so that the accusations against us will disappear. People will stop talking about them and our neighbors will even cease to wage war against us,

Instead Of Boycotting: Love

An Ancient Merit

laitman_749_02Question: Why is the Israeli nation called the “chosen people”?

Answer: The Israeli nation are called the “chosen people” not because it is better than others but because if was chosen to set an example of the correct good unity for the whole world. The Jewish nation was founded on the basis of unity. If we are not united, we are not considered the nation of Israel. It is only through  a tight connection when everyone loves others like himself that we have the right to call ourselves the nation of Israel. The Jewish nation was formed by a group of Abraham’s students who decided to unite in mutual guarantee and accepted the condition of “love thy neighbor as thyself.” This is the example the nation of Israel has to set for the whole world and it is the reason they are called the “chosen people.” It is impossible to escape this mission; we see how we are led back to it time and time again.

Question: Why can’t this mission be give to another nation if we don’t fulfill it?

Answer: It is impossible to get rid of this mission and escape from it. We will be o obliged to execute it voluntarily or under duress. So we shouldn’t put it off or wait until we have to fulfill it under extreme pressure and the threat of another holocaust, which again begins to grow on the horizon.

The Jewish nation is the same group that Abraham took out of Babylon and united under the conditions of “love thy neighbor as thyself.” It makes no difference that thousands of years have passed since then. The nation of Israel are the same souls, although their bodies have undergone many incarnations. It is only these souls that can bring the whole world to correction.

Therefore, we cannot wriggle out of our mission and sooner or later we will have to fulfill it, if not in this lifetime, then the next. This was written in The Book of Zohar two thousand years ago. And there are even more ancient books that say the same thing.

So we cannot tell the world that we refuse to fulfill this mission. There is the general law of nature that leads all of the creation to unity, but the nation of Israel doesn’t allow it to fulfill this goal. The still, vegetative, and animate nature are naturally connected in a symbiosis, while mankind cannot unite by themselves; it is the nation of Israel that should unite them by being the first to attain unity and setting and example for others.

A Boycott Of Israel Or A Game Of The Upper Force?

laitman_538Question: Is the attempt to not allow Israel to participate in the World Cup soccer championship also a game that the upper force plays with us?

Answer: Of course, it is the upper force that actually plays with Israel. It wants us to start looking at life in a more serious manner and to discover its secret. The upper force will awaken and spur the whole world against Israel. Our situation will keep getting worse until we realize that we are the ones who have freewill and who can bring goodness to ourselves and to the whole world.

The world is expecting us to do so. It isn’t by chance that everyone is against Israel. It is the upper force that guides all the nations against the Jews by putting us in a very difficult situation. This is where the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed and explains that that’s the way it should be unless we discover the secret of life. Then we will understand why the whole world hates the Jews and what the Jews have to do about that and how they should solve this problem.

Question: The attempt to boycott the Israeli soccer team is probably just the beginning; we are being drawn into a war over our existence against great forces.

Answer: We are not engaged in war against forces but against the one upper force. Baal HaSulam tells us in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar” that the reason for all the disasters in the world is that the nation is Israel doesn’t fulfill its mission. When I first heard that it was very hard to accept, but we have no choice. This is the truth and, we cannot hide from it; rather, we must solve this problem. Otherwise, the world will sink into increasingly greater darkness. We cannot even imagine the state our world can reach.

No one could imagine that the world would be in such a crisis and such darkness 20 to 30 years ago, that it would be filled with such cruelty, wars, and drugs. The Israeli nation has to bring the Light to the nations of the world; therefore, we have to develop ourselves to be compatible with the upper Light so that it will flow unto the world through us like through a pipe, through a kingdom of priests, and then world will calm down.

Israelis And Jews

Laitman_421_01Question: Is there a difference between Israelis and Jews?

Answer: Yes, and a very big difference! Israelis are those who live in this country, even though they could be against it, cursing its existence or envious of those living abroad. Israelis are a special breed of Jews, who were born and grew up here, and they feel free. Those who come to Israel from other countries don’t feel that way. They feel deprived in some way.

But native Israelis are not deprived in any way really, and even if they feel that the world puts  pressure on them, they don’t accept it—the sensation of inner freedom remains with them. They are not afraid or ashamed of anything that a Jew who returns from a country of exile would be compelled to hide. There are great differences between them in their approaches to life and the world.

A Jew who is a born Israeli is more natural and open, and appears to be naive. On the other hand, those who were born and lived in other countries  are constantly performing all sorts of calculations: this we can do, this we cannot, and to what extent. Local people do not have such calculations; they are more direct.

Nonetheless, the new generation of those born in Israel but raised by parents who were immigrants are not yet completely devoid of the exile. Therefore, they are more complex on the inside. They have a greater inner need for self-assertiveness than Israelis. They understand and feel a need to possess knowledge, power, achievements, and are not satisfied with high school education. They need diplomas, titles, and awards. All of this was passed on to them from their parents since for a Jew growing up in other countries knowledge was their only luggage.

laitman_936Simply open the tap: This is the reason for anti-Semitism, because of which people all over the world instinctively feel hostility toward us. However, likewise, if we change, then the hostility instinctively will change into sympathy.

Everything depends on the connection between us, for this is what specifically conveys the abundance through us to the world. We are a conduit—a transitional link. Through the quality of our mutual connection, we apparently open or close the tap in the middle of the pipe that passes from above to below.

And so, we don’t need to deal with the problems of the peoples. It is enough to open the tap between us, to unite, and then all good and abundance will begin to stream downward through the pipe. It is impossible to change this structure in any way, because this has been our fate for thousands of years.
