War Has No Future

115.06Only in relation to our connection with each other can we find out what state we are really in, meaning the state before entering Egypt, in Egyptian slavery, or perhaps ready to go free? Everything depends only on the degree of our unity.

Before entering Egypt, everyone was at odds with each other, like Joseph and his brothers. And then they go down to Egypt and discover that it is good to unite egoistically, and that due to this, one can succeed. But gradually we find out that problems cannot be solved in this way, but our relations must be changed.

It is written that only seventy people descended into Egypt, a small group. Then it multiplied greatly, and the point here is not the number of people, but the fact that the egoistic desire of everyone grew. Pharaoh gets inside them and adds more and more desire to enjoy to them, as if there were millions of them.

And when there are so many of them, the work of unification should already begin between them. Clearly, this is the solution. And that is exactly what needs to happen all over the world today. The whole world must feel that it is tied into a common ball.

And that is why wars and serious problems flare up today. These are not just random clashes and temporary, local disagreements. Wars and epidemics will spread throughout the world so that everyone will feel how connected we are to each other. No one will be able to avoid it. And this is to make us feel like we are in Egypt. All of humanity is approaching this state.

We will not be able to easily get out of this crisis. The world is only at the very beginning of all sorts of troubles that will cover the entire globe: economic problems that result in a deficit of the most necessary things, environmental problems, and epidemics.

Today, the entire globe is Egypt, and we will all have to realize this in order to get out of it, out of all the problems that surround us. The science of Kabbalah and current events are becoming very close these days. This is the most significant period in the entire history of mankind because a new world is being born now from the previous stages of inanimate, vegetative and animate. And the task of Kabbalists is to help it rise from the animate level to the human level.

There is no better solution to all problems than unification over all differences and all obstacles. We will not be able to fix each other and make each other look like two peas in a pod. Each must preserve his individual character, and in doing so, we must learn how to connect above all differences so that “love will cover all crimes.”

It is impossible to do it any other way! If everyone makes claims to the other about why he is not the way I want him to be, then this is a destructive approach in which no one can live in peace.

In nature there are special connections between all elements beyond the desire of each one. This is how the organs in the human body are connected and how metabolism occurs—only due to connecting bridges based on mutual benefit and not one demanding something from the other.

Therefore, people, countries, and societies must understand that there is no future for the desire of one to rule over another. Each individual must control himself in order to unite with the other, and in this way the world will develop in the right direction.

“Put Leaders In Our Shoes” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “Put Leaders in Our Shoes

I recently posted my reply to an email I received about praying. I receive many emails, and these days, a lot of them concern the war in Ukraine. Another email I received about the war came from a man named Vladimir. I do not know his nationality, but his plight is universal. He wrote, “Dear Michael Laitman, I’d like to share with you that I tried to put myself in my friend’s shoes. His son is fighting in the war. After five minutes, I went into a state of shock. I kept the phone constantly in sight, and dreaded every time it rang or vibrated that it might be someone giving me the worst news. My hands felt as heavy as lead, and life became the pauses between phone rings. Tell me, what kind of world are we living in? Why are we given this today?”

My reply to Vladimir was simple: We are given this horrible situation so we will experience it and be able to decide how we want to live. It is we who have built our reality this way. Therefore, despite the pain, it is also our responsibility, as a collective, to make it better.

One thing that would work is if we placed the “managers” of our world in this situation. If they experienced the same fear for their family as we do, even if only for a week, their attitude would change. If they, too, dreaded the ringing of the phone the way we dread it, they would understand much better what war means for those who actually experience it.

People who feel this anxiety become more responsible. When your own children are at risk, it is a different story than when your children are safe and sound, away from the war, and you are sending other people’s children to the battlefield.

If that were the case, they would do everything within their power to avoid a war. Decision makers who have children on the front lines think differently from those who have no children out there; they are far more disposed to contemplate and act in service of the interest of the public rather than seek their own glory and prestige.

Therefore, if you asked me what I would advise, this would be my advice for a quick end to the war.

Two Forces Acting In The World

546.02Question: When neuroscientists and psychologists speak about the phenomena that arise in a person who has an extended retention of power, they distinguish the following signs: narcissism, excessive attention to one’s own image, identification of one’s interests as the interests of the state, a sense of divine omnipotence, lack of control over the court, unwillingness to listen to advice, and the loss of perception of reality. All this leads to incompetence and a lack of the sense of one’s situation.

What is the internal mechanism of this phenomenon?

Answer: We live in a world in which, in principle, there are two forces: the force of attraction and the force of repulsion. They are both on the physical level and on the moral level.

That is, we perceptually attract and repel each other. In these states, we seem to draw closer both in the physical world and in the spiritual in more internal sensations between us.

Naturally, there is a thirst in us to feel the other in all possible directions, at our level, below us, above us, closer to us, and further from us.

The only question is how a person is brought up, how he begins to understand his nature, and how he feels he can manage it to achieve certain goals in life. Therefore, what we have is still not enough.

It is important how we will act in order to realize our possibilities and to move away from or approach sources that are desirable or undesirable for us.

According To Spiritual Laws

947The Jews are the people who left ancient Babylon, adopted the Kabbalistic method of existence, and settled down according to this method.

The Romans and the Greeks are parts of Babylon that took a different path and settled down according to their egoism. This is described in the books of the historian Flavius Josephus who lived in Rome and wrote Antiquities of the Jews.

Rome developed absolutely materialistically, in complete contrast to Jerusalem, because the Jews lived according to certain laws that were set originally from Abraham.

They were taught how to behave in the city, in the family, and in their circle, and also how to strictly observe the code aimed at equality, respect for each individual and his development. There was no difference between a poor man’s son and a rich man’s son. Each received the same education.

There was no such thing that a girl from a poor family without a dowry could not get married. This was always the concern of the whole community or city. Not a single girl, neither poor nor rich, remained unmarried.

All this was spelled out in the laws and was very clearly carried out because these are spiritual laws that speak of a maximally corrected society.

The king had to give an account to his people. In the Psalms, King David seems to cry to the Creator, “Look what I have to do as a king: judge and participate in all the showdowns. I am obliged, obliged, obliged…”.

The roots of this ideology originate in the spiritual where everyone is equal and interconnected and each completely determines the position and condition of each other.

Therefore, there is no small and there is no big, everything is a circle, a ball.

To Develop One’s Soul

281.01Kabbalah says that a person should develop his soul. What else do we exist for? We understand what an animal body is and what its life on this earth is. But the main thing for us is the development of the soul.

It is said that the soul is a part of the Creator, meaning, a part of a certain absolute in a person. The Creator is the quality of bestowal and love.

It would seem, on the contrary, that if the soul is a part of the Creator in us, then, as a part of Him, it should not be subject to correction. But first of all, it is necessary to create it in ourselves, to want it to be formed, and to wish to be a part of the Creator so that this quality is born in us.

When Kabbalah says, “a person is a part of the Creator,” it speaks from the Creator’s side. And it takes a huge effort on the part of a person to make this happen to himself.

Kabbalah Is A Tool For Achieving Happiness

214The method of Kabbalah came to us from the distant past, from Ancient Babylon, when we were all there in the same situation as today. But their global crisis was small because there were only several thousand people on Earth. They also discovered a connection and at the same time mutual hatred among them. And they also did not know what to do. That is when Kabbalah appeared.

Question: Why could it not be fixed in those days?

Answer: Because their egoism was not sufficiently developed. In addition, they had someplace to move to get away from each other, and, like insects, they scattered all over the earth. Today there is nowhere to go.

Comment: But today, there are many who are also trying to find a way out and say that we will fly to another planet, to Mars, or somewhere else so as to not unite with each other.

My Response: It will not bring anything. We need to get settled here. The other planets are not for us. It is a fantasy to say, “Apple trees will bloom on Mars,” and although that is good, no one needs it. God willing, they will still bloom on Earth.

Question: Why does Kabbalah only speak about the purpose of creation and about the program of creation?

Answer: What else can a person talk about? Only about the next day and what he should achieve. Simply give him the tool to achieve happiness. Here is your state, here is your tool, and here is your goal. Look how beautiful it is! Go ahead!

Question: But why doesn’t any other method take a person to an upper level?

Answer: Kabbalah connects us with the upper force that created us, governs us, and can correct and pull us to itself. Other methods do not have this power.

Moreover, Kabbalah is a science. It has nothing to do with beliefs, religion, or anything else. It simply gives a person the opportunity, strength, and knowledge to raise oneself to the level of the Creator. It is real.

The science of Kabbalah describes in physical and mathematical terms and progressive actions how a person must constantly change himself. It gives him a connection with the source of life from where the upper light that governs us descends to us and which we must attract more strongly to ourselves so that it corrects us. It revitalizes us, gives us a purpose for existence, and waits for us to start applying it for correction.

Why Have There Been Fewer Armed Conflicts

273.02Question: You say that real victory is the correction of the egoistic heart. Any other victory, in principle, causes even greater conflicts and wars. Why?

Answer: Because with this you don’t do anything. You do not conquer evil. On the contrary, maybe you increase it even more.

Question: Over the past 70 years there have been fewer armed conflicts and fewer casualties. What do you think is the reason?

Answer: People are afraid of armed conflicts and they don’t want them. They have the opportunity to live well. If in the past only 1% of society could afford a more or less good life, now it is already 10 – 20%, and they do not allow any conflicts to develop so easily. After all, the calculation begins at either I start a war or perhaps, calmly live well, especially for the sake of children.

Question: Do you think that this is the main reason for the decrease in conflicts?

Answer: Of course it is and it is an absolutely selfish reason. But there will still be no peace. Nature itself, the Creator, will not let us live in peace.

“Redefining Overconsumption” (Medium)

Medium published my new article “Redefining Overconsumption

Thousands of school kids took part in the School Strike for Climate on March 25, 2022 in New York City. The students held a rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall and marched over the Brooklyn Bridge to Foley Square to bring attention to the inaction of city and state officials to face the current climate emergency. (Photo by Erik McGregor/Sipa USA)

The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) declared that the environment is almost at the point of no return. It warns that unless we restrain our insatiable hunger for power and wealth, we will destroy ourselves. In my opinion, the problem is not that we are consuming the environment, but that we are “consuming” one another.

According to the IPCC report, “It is unequivocal that climate change has already disrupted human and natural systems.” Moreover, the report concludes that “The cumulative scientific evidence is unequivocal: Climate change is a threat to human well-being and planetary health. Any further delay in concerted anticipatory global action on adaptation and mitigation will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable [sic] and sustainable future for all.” To mitigate the danger, the IPCC suggests several steps, the key one among them being “Inclusive governance,” which will inhibit the “shop ’til you drop” attitude, which drove economies forward until now, and make it more equitable and just.

In my opinion, the heart of the problem is the fact that we are “consuming” one another, insatiably exploiting and abusing other people, nations, and countries. “Inclusive governance” will not change our attitude, but rather a thorough, willful process of self-education that will lift us from the “Me! Me! Me!” culture to a more considerate, and therefore sustainable attitude to one another. If we can achieve this, everything else will follow.

Consumerism, or overconsumption in order to drive the economy forward, is only one aspect of our abusive attitude toward everything that is not us. In other words, our problem is not that we are buying too much or eating too much or doing anything too much. Rather, our problem is that we have no concern for nature, for the environment, and first and foremost, for each other. This attitude allows us to conceive such exploitative approaches that manifest not only in overconsumption, but in exploitation in all its facets.

Think of the power struggles that countries conduct among each other, the wars they are fighting and their decimation of their perceived enemies. Think of how people are trafficked for slavery and abuse of every conceivable kind, including children. Think of how freely we deplete nature’s resources for the sake of growing richer than the richest people.

We do it all not in order to provide for ourselves, to maintain a sustainable and reasonable way of life. We do it in order to become richer, stronger, and more powerful than others. We do it in order to defeat other people regardless of the cost. In a sense, our aspiration to “consume” one another — to annihilate the competition, which is anyone who is not me — is our problem.

If we uproot it from among us, we will solve all our problems. We will not over consume because we already produce twice as much as the world needs. We will be able to cut production by half and leave the whole world satisfied. We will not need to work so hard; we will not need slave labor, and we will have no inflation since we will not seek to make excessive profits.

Subsequently, we will not need such extensive military forces since we will not be engaged in overpowering others or protecting ourselves from the attempts of others to overpower us. The resources that will be freed once we are able to virtually eliminate defense budgets will allow us to raise our standard of living even higher, cut expenses tremendously, and free resources for improving people’s living conditions.

Additionally, the stressless lifestyle and the rejuvenated environment will improve our health tremendously. This will not only improve our lives on the physical level, but health expenses, too, will not need to be so prohibitive.

In conclusion, if the ICPP wants to prevent climate catastrophes, then the international community must initiate a worldwide educational process that will free us from the abusive narcissism that is destroying our psyches, our societies, and our planet. Anything less ambitious than such an inclusive (they like that word) process will not achieve its goals.

“How Can The World Be Rid Of Evil?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How can the world be rid of evil?

Very simply, by accepting a simple axiom—evil exists solely within you.

If there were no evil in you, then you would have no sensation of evil, and you would not perceive any evil manifestations in the world.

The evil we see in the world is a projection of the evil within us, and we see it on the outside. We think that all kinds of behaviors are evil, and see evil throughout nature, but it is due to evil dwelling within us that we perceive it outside of us. Thus, to rid the world of evil means to correct ourselves. By correcting ourselves, we reach a state where we see only good in the world.

In order to correct ourselves, we require regular learning of the method of correction so that from one day to the next, we increasingly master the method of eradicating evil and approaching good.

In principle, that is mainly what the teaching of Kabbalah entails. That is why the wisdom of Kabbalah has become disclosed in our era on a mass scale: to correct the evil within, to eradicate evil at its root, and by doing so, lead us to sense reality as absolutely good.
