A Gravestone Is Not For The World To Come

Dr. Michael LaitmanHumanity has believed that there is life after death for ages, but in fact the next world is the next level. On the whole, there are five worlds: Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. Each of them is divided into five Partzufim and in each Partzuf there are five Sefirot. They make a total of 125 levels and each one is also called a world. It’s a about a certain “place” in my desire to receive that has certain attributes.

Eventually I am stabilized; I am in my current state, and then I feel and understand, perceive, and live according to the definitions, the values, the perceptions and method of clarification that are typical of the current level. This level is my world, “this world.” Everyone is on this level, including the greatest Kabbalists who are also on the levels of the still, vegetative, and animate nature of their existence.

This state is given to us from the start. No one asks me whether I want to be born here.

But I can add the next level called the next world to the current state. It says: “You shall see your world during your lifetime.” This means that I have to attain it here and not after death. This is why the wisdom of Kabbalah is called “the revelation of the Creator to the created being in this world.” I can discover the Creator on the level of this world. The revelation of the Creator is called discovering another level of the 125 levels. This is how I attain it, starting from the smallest measure until the fullest measure.

The next world will be revealed if I form the image of the force of bestowal out of the items that I have prepared. Then I will acquire new feelings and a new perception in that image, in my new desire to bestow. This will be my next world, one of the 125 levels.

A Race On The Track Of The Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanThere is a constant struggle between the importance of the goal and our feelings. If the goal is important, it makes no difference what states we go through along the way. It’s like a patient waiting for an operation knowing that although the treatment is unpleasant it is meant to save his life.

We should also understand that the Creator sends us more and more disappointments, darkness, feelings of helplessness, and unpleasant states on purpose. We, on the other hand, have to keep on increasing the importance of the goal so that the goal will be more important for us than the current state and what we feel. It’s a sign that the Creator “hardens Pharaoh’s heart,” and sends us more troubles.

It makes no difference how clever a person is and whether he is sensitive or not; everyone must go through this and hold on to faith and to the general power of bestowal he receives from the environment. Then you will not lose direction and the importance of the goal in states of  the”hardening of the heart.” This actually depends only on the balance between the forces that operate on a person. It can all be measured. If the goal was important for you and you dedicated yourself to the group in order to receive the support you need now, the Creator can harden your heart even more, and you can thus shorten the way and you advance along the path of “I shall hasten it” (Achishena), towards the goal.

The path of the Light, “I shall hasten it,” is not feeling constant troubles; of course, the path of “I shall hasten it” means that the importance of the goal helps you climb every summit and fall into every pit and still come out of all these hard states. It’s because you are constantly looking ahead at the importance of the goal. So, no matter what knocks you off your feet, whether it lowers you or raises you upwards, you keep on advancing consistently like a baby crawling on all fours.

We must understand that we have to reach the hardening of the heart that will fill our measure to the fullest and at the same time allow us to struggle and keep our connection so that it will illuminate for us and keep us from getting off track and letting go. We will be more aware of how essential the Light that Reforms is time and time again. We thank the Creator for the sufferings He brings us because it’s thanks to them that we need Him. We understand that we can turn to the Creator only together by connecting and by the prayer of many.

If we know how to fulfill our mission, then the work we have to do doesn’t seem difficult at all and is actually pleasant. Although it requires our constant overcoming, it becomes a sport. We enjoy the efforts that we make if we see a clear goal before us. Thus we advance speedily.

So there are two conditions that help us not to give up the hardest work there is: being incorporated in the group and thanks to this reaching the recognition of the importance of the goal. If we fulfill all that, we will feel grateful to the Creator and reach a prayer in response to which there will come such a measure of the Light that Reforms that it will raise us to the first spiritual level, to the world of Assiya.

Through Connection To Unity

Dr. Michael LaitmanConnection is the condition in which there is nothing related to you or to me, rather it is only “ours.” In this connection it is impossible to distinguish anything that belongs to either party. It no longer exists. It is as if they pour dye into water and they mix.

And this is not a precise example, for there still remain molecules of water and dye.

Whereas, here it turns out there is something with no recollection of the previous components and division. Something completely new is created.

Even in an infant we distinguish the different facial features which he inherited from the father or mother. The same thing happens at the time of the descent of the worlds from above to below. Part reaches the Zeir Anpin from Abba and part from Ima. But after that, when we begin to pass from below to above, then everything is united in the Creator.

There is an action or intermediate state through which we reach unification. And unification indicates that there is only one, the two sides disappear. In our world unification like this doesn’t exist, for today a couple is connected and tomorrow there may be a divorce.

Fighting Against Social Inequality Is Futile…

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Boris Johnson, London Mayor): “Mr Johnson used a speech in tribute to Margaret Thatcher to argue that tackling economic inequality is ‘futile’ because some people’s IQ is too low for them to compete. … But his most controversial comments came when he said globalisation was intensifying the trend towards inequality.

“Mr Johnson said: ‘I am afraid that violent economic centrifuge is operating on human beings who are already very far from equal in raw ability, if not spiritual worth.

“‘Whatever you may think of the value of IQ tests, it is surely relevant to a conversation about equality that as many as 16 per cent of our species have an IQ below 85, while about 2 per cent have an IQ above 130. …

“‘I stress I don’t believe that economic equality is possible. Indeed, some measure of inequality is essential for the spirit of envy and keeping up with the Joneses that is, like greed, a valuable spur to economic activity.’

“He called for the creation of a new generation of grammar schools to help the brightest children from poor homes.”

My Comment: This is true in an egoistic society, but in an altruistic society, everything becomes equal because everyone gives to the best of his natural abilities and receives, regardless of giving, to the extent of his natural needs.

A Little Craftiness Will Not Interfere

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Once or twice a month we organize an integral event with planned topics at the public library. Our first event was very active and powerful. But the second time it was less intense. Why does this happen this way?

Answer: This is a sign that you don’t have anything to say to people. You must kindle desires in them, stimulate them through cross-cutting issues, identify “pitfalls” to show them how this method is not simple, how much it touches the deepest strata of the human psyche that has not yet been investigated by us.

This is not just hugging, sitting, and eating together. You must somehow bring them to such a state that they will understand that if they haven’t absorbed this method or mastered it, they cannot live in agreement and harmony with anyone, not even with themselves. All of this must be awakened in them.

I, personally, don’t have the right to do this in my lessons in such a direct method as I do with you because those who study the wisdom of Kabbalah must search within themselves for desires for spirituality. I cannot stretch a spring in them with a key, like in a toy with a spring, so that they will jump from a stimulus, whereas with your audience, indeed you can. Therefore you must.

So, you have to be a little crafty.

Discovering The Code Of The Upper Worlds

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: The general public loves the general rules of the roundtables for workshops very much. Can they apply them in life and at work, as a form of mutual cooperation between people?

Answer: In every case, if they try to apply the integral method at home, in the family, when problems pop up at work, in a collective, during discussions in meetings, with this they will absolutely prove that the method works.

The question is: Can they reach the “raspberry ball” in the center of the circle themselves, that is, the awakening of the general characteristic of bestowal and love? I am sure that they can’t because they don’t have contact with the higher power. Contact can only be for those who learn the wisdom of Kabbalah. Therefore they need us.

But gradually this will merge into a single system. After all, in Kabbalah, what are the names of all kinds of qualities: “Sefirot,” “Partzufim,” “Worlds”?—This is about the system of connections between us.

When this system begins to be discovered, people suddenly will discover that this is called this, and that is called that. “From where do you know that this is called this?” “What, it isn’t understood?” And it is not because a person reads this in a book, in general he cannot open it, but he will simply say: “This is called ‘Arich Anpin’.”

For all these names appear from the discovery of the inner links between people. Until then they didn’t exist. Adam HaRishon was the first who brought the language of the upper worlds. In principle, this is not even a language, but a code, like in a computer.

Therefore, sooner or later people will perceive all of this. But in spite of it all, we must guide them, without us nothing will be realized.

Life Is Good If You Know Its Meaning

From A Multitude Of Desires To A Single Prayer

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can we feel the need, the desire, of the 99% of humanity and fulfill them correctly?

Answer: You don’t need to feel the need of the 99% of the public. Each one of them has a complete collection of unconscious desires for: food, sex, wealth, respect, power, and knowledge. And within these six types of fulfillment that the person wants, there are yet hundreds of small needs.

If you begin to clarify exactly which desire dominates in each person, then there will be no end to this. He will say something else every minute: “I want this, and this, and this….” When you take a small child to a big toy store, he is dazzled by the abundance of toys and he will grab one and then another and another. It is the same thing with us, too.

Therefore there is no reason to look for their specific desires, they are shared by all; moreover, they wander within particular ranges more or less.

We must bring people to the fact that all of their various desires, whatever they might be, are to be summed up in a yearning to unite among them. Then they will discover that power that fulfills them.

It doesn’t matter what they desire! They don’t need to express them or share them with us. They need to carry out actions and go through states that lead to connection and unity. Then a sensation will appear in them that not only will fulfill the desires of each one but also will create additional unity among them. Thus, they will understand how exactly they can be fulfilled.

As they continue to participate in these activities, they will begin to see that the power of unity they find in a collective can solve all their materialistic problems: health, finances, preservation of the family, the education of children, and so forth. As strange as it may seem, the positive force that is created at the time of connection among egoists is really ready to heal all personal and social wounds if people are raised above their ego and become connected between them.

Therefore, it makes no difference who has which specific problems. We never delve into people. Try to arrange a poll on the street where people will enumerate the ten desires that are most important to them and you will see that they all talk about the same thing. They talk about children, about health, about family, about work, about monetary problems…. With all of them it’s the same thing. Any problem can be solved by sitting in a circle, discussing it among themselves, and with this attracting the inner Light so that it will help them. This is called the “prayer of the many.”

The Contact Between The Manager And His Subordinate

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: There is a complicated question about the contact between the manager and the subordinates. How is it possible to become the subordinate’s friend if I am his boss?

Answer: First of all, we prepare the workers, discussing with them how it is possible to act towards the manager as with a friend?

In addition, the manager needs to remain as manager. Life is built according to hierarchy. But we need to create these mutual relationships in the collective, i.e., that on the one hand, from the side of the worker, there won’t be fear of the manager since mutual assistance is the guarantee for effective work in our plant.

Let’s suppose that you can approach the manager like a friend and say, “Listen, this is not working. I think it would be better  to do it this way.” And he would accept you, would understand, would listen to your advice, and would appreciate your advice because at your level from the point of view of the executor, you know more than he does.

Mutual assistance like this will create, not only a good atmosphere in the plant but economic benefits too. We will begin to make the collective equal by assigning a part of the profits to help the most needy. Here we are talking about physical equality between people, between friends. On the one hand, they are working under a manager, and on the other hand, they are friends. And we need to attract those who participate actively during the process of integration.

It may happen that we might discover people in the collective who are not needed and even cause damage. If a person doesn’t participate in the integral system and isn’t beneficial to the collective, not from the view point of his production or from the viewpoint of his cooperation, then we should rid ourselves of him.

To create contact between the manager and the workers under him is not a simple endeavor. One needs to do it very carefully through all kinds of games. Let’s suppose we now are playing with friends. All are identical, “John, how are you? Not Mr. John Smith, but John, how are you?” And then we play as the manager and the worker, and all instantly changes.

A game is a serious matter. In this we train people to work simultaneously at two levels. It is specifically what happens with us with the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah: There is knowledge and there is “faith above reason.” We must do this so that they will feel these two levels without each interfering with each other.

Now they are playing as if everyone is equal, turning to the manager in a friendly way, not being rude, but in a friendly manner. And afterward, in the same way, in a friendly way, playing the manager and the worker under him, thus expressing on the one hand, all the complaints towards our boss at work, and on the other hand, suggesting advice in order to create a good atmosphere for the collective because it also depends on the management.

They make suitable suggestions so that their company will become integral in terms of performance and in terms of the general atmosphere because it is based on these two parameters. They will begin to discuss them both as equal partners and as a manager and workers.
