The Group Is the Guarantor of Safety

528.03Question: Very often disagreements arise between several friends in a group, sometimes even of a purely corporeal nature. Is it possible for a person to insure against this?

Answer: No. Not in any way! We need to increase disagreements. A person will have the strength to overcome them if he has a strong ten that will hold him and secure him like climbers secure themselves. But all the same, he will always fall into an egoistic abyss.

If the group does not break up and holds on, it will pull him up, it will help, and he will again get hold of the goal with his teeth and pull himself out. The ten helps, but it cannot work instead of him. It gives the importance of the goal and throws the end of the rope: “Please, be strong,” and he has to pull himself up on his own.

But it happens that everything is in your hands, just latch the carabiner! But the friend does not want to tie himself to the others because that is it: “They will drag me, and I will no longer be able to detach myself.” He cannot. Here, latch the carabiner—but no! And he will move away, tangentially, on his own. There is a special trajectory along which a person moves away from the group: along a parabola, gradually, not abruptly.

He begins to be interested in some other similar things to be fulfilled with money, fame, power, knowledge; he is under some other stronger influence. In general, this is a problem.

But the crisis that is developing around helps a lot. People have nowhere to go, they begin to understand that we  are talking serious business, that we are sober, normal, rational people, that we actually know nature, both man and the world around us, and that we are not mystics, but, on the contrary, realists. And they see they are the mystics.

In the end, they will see: “No matter how much we despise them, hate them, and are ready to crumble and grind them, it turns out that they are right.” And they will have to agree.

Advancing Friends To The Goal

Every Penny Joins into a Great Amount

945If I rise above the claims of egoism, which convince me that this work is meaningless and the spiritual path is not for me, then it means that I am going above reason. And so, “penny by penny joins in a great amount”; that is, all the overcoming accumulates to a certain measure necessary in order to become a vessel for receiving the upper light.

It is in this form that we advance and the degree of connection between the friends is very important here. After all, in states of weakness, a person will not find any strength, desire, or awakening that is capable of lifting or stimulating him at least a little. Additional strength can only come from connection with the friends.

We need to understand that we have to receive all the strength to advance from the group and from nowhere else. There are only two options: either from egoism or from connection in the group. These are the only levers available in our system. Therefore if we want to advance toward the final correction, we must try to connect more and more, as much as possible in the ten, and receive strength for awakening and unification from there.

And then again and again, extract everything from there. Even when it seems that there are no resources left, you still squeeze out strength from there as if you are scraping the last crumbs from the bottom of the pan. This is how you need to try to receive strength to unite from the group. After all, this is what the real work that moves us forward should be.

Ready to Raise the Shechina from the Dust

260.01Shattering is indeed an opportunity for correction. And therefore, when Kabbalists saw the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, everyone wept and the greatest sage Rabbi Akiva laughed. He was sure that now there was an opportunity to start building the Temple, that is, a place for the revelation of the Creator between us.

The external shattering shows us that there is a shattering within us. If we reveal how severe our external shattering is, then we understand how we are shattered internally and have the opportunity to raise  Divinity from the dust.

This is the state in which we find ourselves; we reveal that we have neither strength, nor understanding, nor any clue of how to start building our connection called the Temple, that is, the place where the Creator can be revealed. Therefore, we can also rejoice that we have recognized what we lack.

Many have been complaining lately that we have no chance, no strength, no way to reach connection. It is good that we have come to recognize how much we are opposite to the qualities of the Temple, the place suitable for the revelation of the Creator. After all, our task is to build a vessel (Kli) where the Creator can be revealed.

It is good that we understand that this is not in our powers and capabilities because we are completely opposite to this. So, we can only demand, pray, and ask.

We must try to get closer to each other against our egoism as much as possible and then cry to the Creator that we are not able to complete this action, and He must complete it for us, uniting us into one spiritual Kli in which He can be revealed. As it is said, “The Creator will finish this work for us.”

The very first task is the revelation of Divinity, the place where the Creator will be revealed. This place is built on the connection between us. If we in the ten are not able to connect as one man with one heart, then we are in a state of shattering. But if we are already aware of this state and do not agree to remain in it but want to correct the nature of our relationship, then we are ready to raise the Divinity from the dust.

The Formula of Life: “Me, the Group, and the Creator”

934All of reality is ticking like a wound-up clock according to a determined program, and everything that is going to happen is bound to happen. We just need to establish the correct attitude to what is happening.

But through this more correct or incorrect attitude we, in fact, look at the world, and depending on it we see good or bad events in it. Our attitude is like a filter through which we evaluate and feel reality; you define your entire life this way.

We are inside a deterministic system, all the events in it are precisely predetermined. All we can correct is our attitude toward reality, which is revealed to us. This makes us feel how we ourselves are changing and how the world is changing.

Everything depends on the inner attitude of a person toward his life, whether I am able to fill my entire life with the upper force that moves everything and controls everything and together with my friends try to perceive the Creator in this way. We connect with the friends and feel that the Creator is within us. We live in this aspiration; this is our true internal life.

Outside there is only a mechanical life in which we still need to somehow exist and act. But the main work is to hold the Creator, who supports and connects us, between us, and together with Him move from state to state.

The very first action is to return myself to the state of “There is none else besides Him” all the time. In order to connect myself with the upper force, I need to connect with the ten in order to return from there again to “There is none else besides Him.”

This is how I ascertain every state according to this formula: “Me, the Group, and the Creator.”

Build the Desired State

938.05Question: We are very eager to love our friends and to work in the center of the ten. How, based on this, can we pray for all the friends in Arava? I know you are saying, “You must try.” Maybe you can share your experience because we are going through a new state?

Answer: Prayer can happen in the case where you build the desired state that is in front of you for yourself, and you can reach it. In fact, that is a prayer.

Prayer should be in feeling, when you literally approach this state and build it in your imagination, feeling, mind, in everything you can, you literally put it in front of you and enter into it, and want to live in it.

Therefore, you should try hard. Try all together. We just need to see that these things should already materialize so that we can live by this.

Our Nearest Future

There Was a Wall and now No Wall

419The Creator did not create a flawed creation but created it in a completely perfect state, and the creatures need only to reveal this.

We must study from Kabbalistic books what connection means and imagine what our corrected state should be: our behavior, thoughts, desires, and how it differs from what it is now.

But we do not correct any personal inner qualities; and to the extent of our desire to connect with each other, our inner qualities will correct and change only because of it.

Otherwise, time goes by and man does not change. Changes occur only when we strive to build the correct system of relations between us.

The Creator created the creation in a completely corrected state—merged with the Creator—but then he shattered it and instructed us to reveal this shattering and ask for its correction. The difference between the desired and the actual state is growing all the time: every time I reveal the next shattered degree, I incorporate in it and feel that this is me. And then I begin to correct it in connection with the ten and by turning to the Creator.

The revelation of a new degree each time feels as if one has come across an impassable wall. But if we connect with our friends, then the wall disappears—just evaporates as if it never existed.

At first it seems that a concrete wall of endless length and infinite height is in front of me. And suddenly, I see that it begin to melt, as if a fog is dissipating; it was there and now it is gone. And now everything is open, clear, familiar, and tangible in front of me. Everything depends only on connection.

The wall that I see is inside me and is built on the lack of my connection with my friends. This is the flaw I see in front of me. All that remains for me is to cry and ask the Creator to help us unite with our friends because by doing this we cancel the wall.

I should see before me only the connection between friends and the connection with the Creator—two degrees of connection. Connection is the key to the solution.

We will see later that this whole world is just an illusion. Therefore, one must go forward, do not look around, but take a direct course to connect with friends and connect with the Creator. This will help us achieve the goal very quickly and to this extent see the truth.

Don’t Miss a Meeting with the Creator

231.01A person should do everything possible in order not to miss a lesson. After all, you come not just to a lesson, but to a meeting with the Creator when you connect with your friends. Even if you do not feel this connection, the Creator knows about it and understands, sees you united, and takes care of you.

If you did not come to the lesson and neglect the opportunity to connect with the group, it means that you neglect the connection with the Creator. Therefore, you will get the corresponding result. Try to work in such a way that everyone awakens his friends!

The Creator Shines to Us through Friends

943Can love for the Creator be greater than love for friends? It simply cannot be that I treat the Creator better than my friends. After all, the friends are my spiritual Kli, as it is said: “And from the love of friends one can reach love of the Creator.”

Therefore, we must understand that just as much as we are drawn to the Creator, we must first of all strive to unite with our friends in the same way, and even more strongly. But in practice, it usually happens the other way around. A person strives for the Creator and this is his goal, but in his friends, according to his egoistic nature, in the ten, in love for his neighbor, he does not see the importance.

We begin our journey with the desire to find the upper force that controls us. But we gradually begin to discover that we need a spiritual Kli, which is based on love for friends, unity, and a sense of the importance of all mankind. It turns out that the attitude toward our neighbor becomes more important to us than the attitude toward the Creator.

Although the Creator is more important, is the ultimate goal, the Creator is everything, at the same time, the importance of friends is revealed to us because if the Creator shines on us, it is through them. It turns out that friends are becoming more and more important to me, and I am building such an image of the group in my heart so that it becomes my Kli where I will reveal the Creator and my attitude toward Him.

Therefore, the question: “Can love for the Creator be greater than love for friends” requires a very simple answer: today, the group is most important to us. Although the ultimate goal, meaning, the Creator, always stands before us as a guiding star, we can reach this guiding star only in the chariot called the ten.

The Effectiveness of Spiritual Work

530The effectiveness of spiritual work depends on how much I feel its importance and the support of the environment. This means, I am connected with a group that is constantly undergoing changes in such a dynamic that we feel as if we are in a single boat sailing through a raging sea. Yet, we are heading toward the cherished goal, the promised shore.

The main thing is to realize that we are inside the field of the upper force that controls us and arranges everything both from within and from without; it changes us, confuses us, hinders us, and helps us. It plays with us like an adult does with a child, trying to awaken in us all kinds of desires and thoughts that contribute to our development so that the child grows up and becomes ready for the future adult life.

This is the help we want to receive from the Creator through the friends in the ten in order to advance spiritually.

The Structure of Spiritual Division

232.08Question: It is written in Torah that Moses’ father in law gave him the structure of the “ten” to organize the people. He said “But you shall choose out of the entire nation men of substance, God fearers, men of truth, who hate monetary gain, and you shall appoint over them leaders over thousands, leaders over hundreds, leaders over fifties, and leaders over tens.”

Is this only the inner hierarchy of our desires or was the nation was indeed divided this way in the corporeal world?

Answer: Sometimes it used to be this way.

If we desire to become similar to the Creator, come closer to Him in our properties, we have to build ourselves, our society, the state, even the world and all of humanity according to the same principle as  described in Torah, meaning we have to divide all into tens, fifties, hundreds, etc. Everyone!

This is because when we unite this way we can reach the property of mutual bestowal, interconnection, mutual guarantee (Arvut). With the help of this relation among us we will be able to relate the same way to the Creator.

Question: But why exactly is there such a division into ten, fifty, one hundred, one thousand?

Answer: It comes from the same ten Sefirot. If we have the upper one, bestowing, His bestowal spreads down the ten rungs until it reaches the last Sefira Malchut, which receives everything.

The distance of ten rungs from the bestowing state Keter (crown) until the receiving state Malchut (kingdom of receiving) fully reflects the development of the Creator’s desire to bestow into the creation’s desire to receive.

If the creation from its side desires to become similar to the Creator, it has to make a restriction upon itself: not to receive the way the Creator made it, but the opposite, to act in similarity to the Creator, meaning from the bottom up, back from Malchut to Keter realizing itself in the property of bestowal.

In fact the restriction was not for the action itself, but rather for the intention. However, when we restrict the intention, the action simultaneously is restricted as well. After that the action can develop in the opposite way, toward receiving. The main thing is the intention.

Question: But where did fifty, one hundred, and one thousand come from?

Answer: It does not matter. Actions in the fifty, hundred, a thousand etc. fall under the same conditions, the same laws as in the ten.
