Purpose Of Creating Egoism

115.06Question: Is everything we see in our world forms of manifestation of “existence from absence,” or are these forms of the desire to receive, or forms of the Creator?

Answer: These are forms of manifestation of the desire to receive on the background of His desire to bestow, to fill, to love.

In fact, we, as if, see two pictures that are superimposed on each other. On one hand there is the perfect desire of the Creator toward us to fill, nurture, and bring us closer to Him so that we become like Him. On the other hand, we see between us and Him such a terrible quality as an egoistic force that we can only attribute to ourselves.

The Creator created egoism on purpose so that we would discover it and try to get rid of the ego, and once we are convinced that we ourselves cannot defeat it, we would ask the Creator to do it for us.

This is our entire work in the corporeal world, to recognize the evil of our nature and ask the Creator to change it to the opposite.

The Thought Of Creating The Creation

261Question: How can the creation of creation, meaning the desire to receive, be connected with the human soul? After all, the Creator created a huge soul, that is, a huge desire.

Answer: The Creator created the desire to receive, which He wants to fill, and this is the purpose of creation. But this is not one action of the Creator because the desire to fill consists of the desire to fill with Himself. It means to raise creation to His own degree, to the degree of the Creator.

How is it possible for creation to exist outside of the Creator as an independent object and at the same time be similar, equal, equivalent to the Creator? This is where the misunderstanding arises about what the Creator did.

The Creator created the desire to receive out of His desire to bestow. All its action is to give this desire the opportunity to become the opposite of itself, and then come to equivalence with the Creator, the desire to bestow. This is everything that we go through in our world.

All our properties, everything that happens to us, is aimed at how to transform the desire to receive, created in us by the Creator, into the quality of bestowal. Existing as separate creatures, we must try to make ourselves similar to the Creator through our own desire, effort, and after making sure that this is impossible, we ask the Creator to help us do it.

To come to a request to the Creator, so that instead of the desire to receive in which He created us, we would be in the desire to give and become like Him; that is all we have to do in this world.

And the Creator will answer our requests, and so we will move forward. Only this is the work of a person, one’s efforts, one’s ability to do something.

Love Your Neighbor: The General Law Of The Universe

934Initially the Creator gave the orientation for the creation to become similar to Him, to reach the highest level: equivalence of form with the Creator. Then it adheres to Him, that is, it ascends to the highest degree of nature.

This is achieved by connecting the creation. Previously, the creation was shattered into 600,000 parts and many sub-parts. All of them must connect with each other into one single soul. This connection is called the implementation of the law of “love your neighbor as yourself.”

All other laws of nature represent the implementation of the same law of love your neighbor, only on a more personal, lower level. Therefore the entirety of nature is given to us only in order to bring it to absolute unity.

What does love your neighbor as yourself mean? It means that a person exits himself and accepts his neighbor as someone much higher than himself, like the Creator, without any distinction between them, when the act of exiting himself becomes absolutely altruistic, without pursuing any personal goals.

When we think about the realization of the plan of creation, we must understand that this can be realized only by correcting egoistic desires to become altruistic. To do this we must create a group of 10 people who will later achieve their system as 10 Sefirot connected into one Partzuf, into one Kli (vessel) of the soul.

This is working on yourself in three lines, when the left line is ever-growing egoism, the right line is the screen above it, i.e., the intention to bestow, and the middle line is the correct use of the left and right lines.

The main driving force of all corrections is the love of friends. Our great teacher Baruch Ashlag (Rabash) writes a lot about this. Therefore if we are talking about the law of love your neighbor, then first of all it is implemented in the 10 between the friends.

Exploring Yourself

209Question: Let’s say a person starts reading the Prophets. How does a Kabbalist read it or someone who wants to break out into another dimension?

Answer: A Kabbalist reads small portions because swallowing does not mean anything. Then it would be like reading fiction.

In order to read a Kabbalistic text, one must enter it, ponder it, and be in a certain state. Some kind of Kabbalistic meditation is needed here.

A Kabbalist is one who studies books with a pen and a notebook. In general, this is not reading, but studying. Moreover, the Prophets is not a simple book.

Therefore it is difficult to convey how a Kabbalist reads it. This is the study of oneself through other characters, i.e., those people who existed in our world and comprehended the Creator. They acted only with the goal of getting closer to Him, positively influencing Him, so that the Creator, in accordance with this, would bring them closer and give them the opportunity to positively influence the world through them.

Can Artificial Intelligence Acquire A Soul?

49.01Question: Can artificial intelligence acquire a soul?

Answer: First, this is not intelligence. Let’s agree among us what we will call intelligence and what we will not.

Is a machine that can correctly calculate different moves intelligent? We have no possibility of creating a machine that will be as intellectual as a human. I am telling you this as an expert in biocybernetics, which was the first profession I acquired. I graduated from a university in the profession of Biological, Medical Cybernetics.

Biocybernetics is about devices, cybernetic apparatuses in a living body.

We can make machines that are smarter than us, that think much faster than us, but if we are defining the concept of “intelligence,” it seems that this is impossible because intelligence is a characteristic that is given to us from above and we cannot precisely create the same characteristic in a mechanical or biological material.

Therefore machines will never be wiser than humans. Yes, they may be smarter, but they will not be wiser. They will perform calculations faster, will operate without errors and the like, but they will not be able to be more intellectually wiser than a person.

Comment: Accordingly they have no soul.

My Response: Certainly. A soul is a part of the Creator from above.

Desire And Intention

610.2According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, initially, only the Creator existed—the will to bestow and to fulfill. In order for Him to be able to realize this desire, He created the will to receive, to be fulfilled. This is the matter of creation.

As a result, the entire universe consists of two opposite qualities: the will to bestow, to fill, to love, the qualities of the Creator, and the will to receive, to fill only oneself even at the expense of others, the qualities of creation.

The will to receive does not have to bestow in order to change and become similar to the Creator. It cannot emanate anything from itself. But it can receive in order to bestow like a child would eat to please his mother, and although he receives physically in action, he is actually bestowing as he acts in order to please her. We do the same with respect to the Creator.

We receive everything from Him, but if we restrict ourselves and agree that we will receive only in order to bring Him contentment, then we become the bestowing ones, equal to the Creator. He bestows upon us because He is the very quality of bestowal, we receive with intention to bring Him contentment, and then we are equal to Him.

The equivalence of qualities with Him reveals the Creator to us, and we begin to feel Him, understand, explore, and be in absolute contact with Him.

So, the Creator has only the will to bestow. The creation has both a will and an intention: the will to receive and the intention “for my own sake” or “for the sake of others,” including “for the sake of the Creator.”

By altering one’s desires from bigger to smaller and one’s intentions “for one’s own sake” or “for the sake of others,” a person can raise or lower oneself relative to the Creator, come closer or move away from Him. In this case, the intention changes the essence of the action itself. That is the point of our correction.

We cannot change the action, but by changing the intention from “for our own sake” to “for the sake of others,” the meaning of our action can change to the opposite and become bestowal instead of reception. If I receive from the Creator in order to bring Him contentment, then I am considered to be the one who gives Him pleasure, that is, the bestower.

This is how we begin to understand our work: by correctly combining the will to receive with the intention to bestow, a person correctly forms himself, adjusts relative to the Creator. This is called working in three lines.

No Mysticism!

600.02Comment: Nowadays many people say that scientists who go beyond science cross the line of purely scientific research to something mystical. And they would really have a new inner knowledge open up.

My Response: To do this, they must become Kabbalists. And there’s nothing to be afraid of. There is no mysticism here.

We are talking about our five sense organs in which we attain the world around us and build earthly sciences on them, and also how we change ourselves. We broaden our sense organs in order to build another science on them called “Kabbalah.”

This science depends on changing our sense organs, not on the devices that we create to complement the five material sense organs.

Created Beings Forever

276.04Question: Can I reach a state in which after the final correction of all beings and the whole world I will not feel like a created being?

Answer: No. You will still be a created being but one who totally feels the Creator. To the extent that you resemble Him, you will feel all the processes occurring in Him. This means attaining the Creator.

You cannot imagine how special and wonderful these states are. Therefore, it seems to you that it is not enough.

How To Attain The Highest Level?

13.07Question: How can we attain the highest level of our existence?

Answer: Gradually, starting from our world through 125 spiritual levels.

There are five worlds that descended into our world from the world of Ein Sof (infinity) in each of which there are five Partzufim, and in each Partzuf there are five levels for a total of 125 levels.

We will be ascending these levels until we reach the world of Ein Sof. On each level we must reverse our egoism and thus ascend. That is, all these levels mean internal changes, higher, even higher and higher above ourselves, the egoists.

Question: Where does the count begin?

Answer: The count starts at zero. When you enter a group and begin to annul before the friends in the group, then you measure everything in relation to it. This is level zero.

At the same time, you know exactly where you are, high or low, ascents, descents, and different fluctuations along the way. And so you advance along the way.

What Is Kabbalah Based On

013.01Comment: There are many methods to achieve the goal. Psychology is observation as well as self-observation, laboratory studies, surveys, conversations, and so on.

However in principle, all this may be biased because we are within our egoistic nature and do not go beyond it.

My Response: I cannot connect a person to some kind of device. After all only a device, that is, something that exists outside of us, can give an objective assessment of a person’s condition and his reaction. And we do not have this.

In addition, not only the subjects, but also those who read the results of the devices are within their egoistic qualities.

Question: How does Kabbalah examine reality so that it can be considered objective?

Answer: Kabbalah gives us a very interesting opportunity that allows us to explore our qualities relative to opposite qualities, egoism versus true altruism, when we go beyond the ego and attain the quality of bestowal, love, and connection. Then within ourselves we build a certain system of two opposite states and can exist in them and between them in the middle state.

Psychology, however, measures everything very clearly, but only within the framework of egoistic nature without going beyond it. Therefore it is impossible to say exactly where we are.
