The Spiritual Root of the Number Ten

548.03Question: What is the spiritual root of the number “10”?

Answer: The spiritual root of the number 10 is that after 10 degrees the root of this calculus is revealed. Therefore, the essence of the attitude of the Creator to the creation, and vice versa, is manifested in the ten. In other words, it is necessary to go through 10 degrees from the creation to the Creator and from the Creator to the creation in order for one to feel the other.

Question: How is the number 10 related to the four-letter name of the Creator “Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey”?

Answer: Ten or four are the same. If we briefly reveal the quality of the Creator and the quality of creation, then the relationship between them can be combined into the four-letter name of the Creator, that is, into four stages, or they can be expanded and explained in 10 stages. But practically it is the same thing.

What Does the Universe Demand from Us?

712.03Question: Tsiolkovsky had a feeling that death does not exist. He wrote that the universe is unchangeable, boundless, and constant. He related to human life and all of development in the same way. He said that man was created in order to come to some kind of perfect, intelligent system, intelligent life.

What is this perfect stage to which we are being pushed?  Tsiolkovsky also said that at that moment, the path of suffering in the development of humanity will end.

Answer: Of course, indeed, this is the ascent above our egoistic nature when we unwillingly, whether we want it or not, act only in self interest.

And the universe demands a different state from us, equivalence with it, when all forces are balanced and complement each other.

Looking at the universe now, we see it egotistically: everyone grabs, devours, pulls, draws in, and consumes. It is I who see it this way.

And if I would look at everything correctly, I would see that everything is in absolute harmony. And then I would also be in harmony with everything that is happening, and would see a different universe undisturbed by my ego.

Was Frankl Right?

79.01Comment: In the US, psychologist Viktor Frankl’s works are very popular and a common theme of his is that one should approach the question of the meaning of life as though it is addressed specifically to him. In this, Frankl completely contradicts Sigmund Freud who believed that if a person wonders about the meaning of life, it is a sign of mental illness.

However, Frankl notes that it is impossible to inquire about the meaning of life on a global scale since each person has his own meaning of life.

My Response: What does “one’s own meaning of life” mean? We are all products of the same nature and are all born with certain inclinations that can be divided into groups and systematized.

There is nothing special about any of us. Do not paint each person as someone unpredictable or as some special individual. Everything is predictable and predetermined. We study genes, hormones, and see how twins living in different places do the same things, marry similar women, call children the same names, etc. Therefore, everything is predictable and we can research it all.

Frankl is wrong. What does he base the meaning of life on? If everyone has their own meaning of life, then there is no such meaning at all. Everyone can decide based on their life experience that: “I live for this. Meanwhile another lives for that.”

If the meaning of your life lies within the corporeal reality, then you act according to Freud without going beyond his theory. If you are looking for the meaning of life beyond life, then how can one actually look for it outside of it? By imagining something? Then everyone will come up with their own religion, beliefs, and everything else. Nothing will come of this either because all of these are human fantasies and none of it can be proven.

But if you have to reveal that world as clearly as this one, then you will know the meaning of life. And once you do, you’ll see that just as in our world where everything is predictable, everything goes according to plan, one has a job, spins, expresses himself according to some venues set for him, and so at the next stage, beyond physical existence, we also advance according to certain laws. And these laws are the laws of nature and they cannot be denied.

Question: So the meaning of life is the same for everyone?

Answer: The meaning of life is the same for everyone. Mind you, the meaning of our present existence is revealed only in the spiritual world and it does not exist in this life.

If we focus on our corporeal life, this leads us away from true meaning and represents only a small phase. As it is written: “do not show half the work to a fool.” Therefore, if we see only half of the way, then we cannot know what follows. It seems to us that life either does not make sense or it is best to focus on this current phase and create our own meaning.

So, both the approach of Sigmund Freud and the approach of Viktor Frankl are utterly incomplete because they do not clearly reveal the next degree of our existence.

A World Undisturbed By You

294.3Question: What does “the world outside of you undisturbed by you” mean?

Answer: This is a world into which you do not contribute any of your qualities. You will be able to feel it as it is.

Now, when I feel something, I feel in accordance with my senses, with those waves and impacts that I can perceive. And if I could sense what exists around me as an infinite number of frequencies, sounds, and colors, then I would feel the truth, that what is outside of me does not enter my box or felt somehow through my filters.

If I could feel this way and study the world in this way, it would be a true science. Kabbalah says that we need to reach such a state, an exit into a different perception of the world.

Narrow Band Of Knowledge

219.01Question: What do you mean by “thought”? What is the goal of creation?

Answer: By the goal of creation, I mean one single thought that permeates, fills, and guides everything that exists in nature and that we feel in it.

In principle, we reveal nature in our senses, within the volume, the possibilities, and the limits in which we ourselves exist. The more we attain nature, the more we feel and, at the same time, reveal how limited we are. That is, I reveal some waves, some volumes, some possibilities and impossibilities at the same time.

Any revelation is some kind of private patch from the whole of nature, which only proves that it is really a very narrow strip of knowledge. As Newton said: “…to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.”

And the sea is a huge universe. So before us, there is not this universe but in general everything, everything that exists in the universe.

The thought we reveal and everything that is subject to us both in Kabbalah and in the natural sciences, we attain in our senses, in our knowledge, in our tools and understandings. We should always speak in relation to a person who attains.

If I attain, then it means that it is me who attains in my senses, within my limitations. And therefore, it is all very relative.

Nevertheless, we attain some fundamental thought that underlies the entire universe, rules it and serves as its substrate, a base above which we can feel everything else.

We cannot even understand and realize the thought itself. We realize and understand how it guides us, how it clothes in us, affects us, and how we can affect it and be in contact with it.

Nevertheless, this is being in contact, this is mutual influence, this is no longer a thought itself, but work with its clothing in us and our entering it. That is, here we are already talking about a man himself, about the revelation related to him.

Kabbalistic Puzzle

219.01Some students complain that they do not understand the material that we study from the book The Study of the Ten Sefirot and are not able to feel it. This is not surprising, no one expects such an ability from them, but where is the correct reaction?

The entire study of the wisdom of Kabbalah happens through discovering that a person is deaf to it; he is not able to understand it with his mind and feel it with his heart. He does not understand what they want from him at all. After reading all these abstruse texts, he just wants to lie down on the sofa and close his eyes or at least turn on the TV or the Internet. This lack of understanding is not an innovation at all.

The innovation is that I go to the ten with this problem and try to assemble the answer there, like a puzzle, in order to understand what they want from me. I listen to my friends and talk to them, and you should not think that we are solving this issue with our own minds.

No, we turn to the Creator with this and demand from Him that He will teach us, connect us in the correct form, and reveal this picture between us so that we would understand it. It is called, “By Your actions, we know You.”

We need all the wisdom to be revealed in practice, in our connection. Otherwise, we will not be able to understand it. Kabbalah cannot be attained by the corporeal mind and feelings. It is said that “It is not the wise who learn.”

Even if you put Einstein or Nobel Laureates to study, nothing will help. Only the connection between us and the request to the Creator will help, and then the Creator will reveal the correct state between us, that is, the solution.

Therefore, the study does not require a lot of intelligence but rather, connection with the ten where everyone annuls himself before his friends and asks the Creator to reveal the state that we are studying to us inside the ten. After all, the group is the ten Sefirot, a spiritual structure where the answer can be revealed. This is called practical Kabbalah.

Therefore, I do not worry if the student does not understand the text. No one understands anything, and this is natural. All that is required of us is for everyone to unite and solve the problem by the method of practical Kabbalah, that is, by connection and not by intellect. After all, we are not at the university. If something is not clear to us, then we are really faced with a problem that requires a solution.

What Happened Before The Big Bang?

746.01Question: For decades, scientists have been puzzled over antimatter, which created the Big Bang and then, it seems, disappeared.

They say that the universe originated at the junction between matter and antimatter. And if matter can be investigated, then antimatter has disappeared from the universe at the moment.

Is it so? What happened before the Big Bang?

Answer: First of all, I would like us to move away from the concept of place, because everything that we feel and do not feel is in one volume. In our universe there are a huge number of all kinds of objects, forces, and phenomena that we do not notice, do not perceive, and therefore cannot investigate. We will never define them through our qualities, feelings,  science, and logic, and therefore, we will not study and learn anything about them.

We just need to understand that everything exists in the same volume, only it is concealed from us and more and more is hidden. We live within the framework of a special perception of ourselves as existing in time, in some kind of sequence. In fact, this is due to the consistent concealment of some forms from us and the revelation of others, which, accordingly, gives us a sense of time, some kind of process.

Kabbalah says that we do not need to go anywhere in time. Instead of going back 15 billion years, we just need to go inside and reveal what has always existed, only removed from us in sensation.

Let’s say, talking now, we can literally move away from each other with thoughts and feelings in a few seconds, stop instantly feeling each other. Which means, all this exists in us as if within the framework of time, yet it is not time, but sensation.

Time is a change of sensations. Therefore, we can go against time: backward, forward, in any direction. If at the same time we awaken all the past states in ourselves, then we will cause a sense of time and we will be able to go back.

And it is the same about you. Today I feel like an adult, elderly. But I can go back in time and feel like a little boy. All these scenes remain like windows in a computer, only overlaid on each other, and therefore, we can go through them in the opposite direction, summon them, and define them.

Regarding what happened before the Big Bang, we will never know in our current senses. We will come, as everywhere in science, to the border beyond which we cannot attain anything. Our matter will spread out there, turn, as we can already see, into waves, and waves into something incomprehensible, imperceptible. No matter what accelerators we build, no matter how we collide particles with huge energies, we will discover a reality that escapes us.

We will feel that it exists, but it exists somewhere here. And with our sense organs and measuring instruments, which practically only expand the range of human perception, we will never feel these phenomena, because they exist in another dimension. For this, we need a completely different mind, different feelings, and a different logic, which we do not have today. It’s a different nature.

The Common Field Of Thought

537Question: Where does thought originate from? How can a person get in touch with it?

Answer: We are in the field of thought. So, it is an induction. It evokes all sorts of individual thoughts in us.

The common field in which we exist like specks of dust in the air,—that is, the air itself, the thought itself, the field itself—inductively sets in us all kinds of thoughts that allow us to understand each other, to feel this field, its general movement, to influence it back, etc.

In principle, Kabbalah deals with the general field theory. By this field we mean the Creator. This is not some grandfather who directs us from above but a common field, a common plan.

Kabbalah talks about how this plan can be influenced, how it affects us, and how we can come into balance with it, which is the goal of our current existence, i.e., to achieve equilibrium with the common field.

When we reach complete homeostasis, then we enter the next stage of creation. This is the dialectic of our development.

Fighting Idolatry

549.01Question: Was Abraham the first to break the idols and get to know the one God?

Answer: Yes, before Abraham, many people, naturally, believed in all sorts of gods, as they did after him too. But he founded an attitude toward nature as a single force that holds and preserves everything within itself, and this is how it should be related to.

Question: In a figurative sense, idolatry is interpreted as the worship of ideas, people, and idols. For example, can the idea of world domination also be considered idolatry? Are all the wars from Alexander the Great to Napoleon and beyond and the belief in these ideas also idolatry?

Answer: In some ways we are all in this. A man, without realizing it, always fights the idolater in himself.

Spiritual Qualities And Their Manifestation In Matter

746.01Baal HaSulam, “The Teaching of the Kabbalah and Its Essence“: Each of the manifold still, vegetative, animate, and speaking in this world has its corresponding part in the world above it, without any difference in its form but only in its substance.

Baal HaSulam writes that there is a law of root and branch; after all, spiritual forces manifest in our world in the form of matter.

Comment: So, when Kabbalists write in their books: “The Land of Israel,” they mean a person’s desire to become similar to the Creator. In our world however, this manifests itself in the form of matter: earth, people living on it, their bodies, and so on.

My Response: But this is on a level that does not exist in us. In principle, we are talking about those qualities that are revealed in people: how can we correct these qualities and to what level, what form we should reach.

Thus, an animal or a rock in this world is a corporeal matter, and its corresponding animal or rock in the higher world is a spiritual matter, occupying no space or time.

In the spiritual world, these are just qualities. That is, a Kabbalist sees spiritual qualities, describes them in his books, and those who have five corporeal sensory organs see them in our world in a materialized form.
