Now Or Never

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhen we go out to disseminate, and more generally, throughout the entire day, we must wholeheartedly worry about the strength of our unity. This is the only thing determining the strength of the Light, which passes through us to the nation of Israel and to the world. It’s like we’re trying to hold something up, afraid to let it fall lest it break. We constantly hold up unity because the Light will pour forward only through it. This is mutual guarantee.

Otherwise, our words will remain empty sounds. What does it mean to unite? To sit and hug each other? To talk about it? We have been talking about it for years, but is it of any use? Does each of us have to be up against the wall, with a gun pointed at him, to feel the need to unite?

To you, “uniting” means sitting and talking about how important this is. But I don’t enjoy sitting and I don’t enjoy talking about it.

Question: So how can we overcome these final millimeters between us? We feel indifferent, disunited, and repelled by one another. Every person sits in his own corner, in his own niche, with his own thoughts and plans. But we don’t want to go back, so what should we do?

Answer: You need a cry, a prayer.

You need to understand that there will be no forgiveness, no second chance. If you want to attain success, then now’s the time. And if you’re not up to it, then you’re better off going your separate ways. At least that way you’ll know for sure that you’re on the wrong path and have no part in the correction of your soul.

In such cases, words are useless. When a person feels real love, he doesn’t talk about it. People don’t parade the thing closest to their heart—they hold it in secret. That’s why I cannot go out shouting about unity. It’s a different matter when you talk about it scientifically, although the emotion cannot be expressed since it lies much deeper.

In any case, you now have a unique chance and it is up to you to implement it. On my part, I have given you everything and cannot do anything for you. The ball is in your court. If you step back now, the future of Israel and your own future will come under the upper verdict…

There won’t be any other time. You have always waited for time to do its work. But it won’t. Baal HaSulam said in this regard: One who rejects the moment will realize it years later. Right now we are simply obligated to work 24/7, upholding the unity at every moment. There’s no other option. This must be our personal and common, single objective.

Forget about me. You have everything you need, so take action, if that’s what you want. And if you don’t, then I have nothing to add. There are things a father cannot do for his son. The ball is in your court now. Everything is up to you.

What’s important is not the materials we hand out or the conversations about having to unite. This has to be conveyed sincerely from heart to heart. I hope you will accept this and feel it deep down. I hope you will attain prayer, a cry and mutual support. Good luck!

Invitation To Unite

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe survival of the people of Israel has always been dependent upon its unity. Therefore, now, more than ever, we must unite. If we rekindle the love among us, we will protect ourselves better than any “Iron Dome” will ever do. Moreover, unity will continue to protect us even when the storm subsides, endowing us with peace within, and the favor of the nations. (From the booklet, “Invitation to Unite”)

Israel Under A Powerful Magnifying Glass

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: You say that, through its internal separation, Israel influences the Arabs and awakens a hostile attitude in them. However, the Arabs don’t just attack us, they mercilessly kill each other.

Answer: The reason for this behavior is the separation of the people of Israel. This is what causes effects like these in other nations. Through our lack of correction, we also awaken a lack of correction in others, and because of this they behave cruelly.

Your correction or small deficiencies appear in them on a scale multiplied a million-fold. Suppose that you feel bad about your Jewish neighbor and distance from him about a millimeter. On the Arab side, they begin to kill and slaughter each other. Do at least a drop of good for your neighbor, and the Arabs also will calm down, and it could be that they even will begin to perform good deeds.

Israel is the bottleneck, the source of what is happening, the pipe that conveys the Light, a good attitude to other people, and if we close this pipe of Light, we become the reason for all the problems.

Question: Does it follow that all of the relationships between us in Israel radiate to the relationships of other people, which grow on the scale of millions?

Answer: Israel is the faucet that manages everything. We open this faucet a little and streams of goodness flow to the world, and if we close it through our bad behavior, then the world is left without Light and screams that Israel is harmful to the world.

Such small changes in us, in our faucet, awaken positive or negative changes in the entire world on a grand scale.

Question: You want to say that my bad relationship to citizens is radiated to other people a million times over, as if through a powerful magnifying glass or a loudspeaker, for example, to Syria, the Ukraine, and so forth.

Answer: They not only fall upon each other, but they also come to us with accusations, for they feel from where this relationship comes. They see in us the reason for their hostile behavior in their relationships to one another and the reason for all their troubles, and they unconsciously bring this hatred back to us, because it is our fault they are hostile.

This is a law of nature, and it is not important if humanity understands it or not. It feels the same thing unconsciously and acts accordingly.

My bad relationship with a neighbor comes back at me like a boomerang, multiplied many times and revealed in the form of the hatred of the Arabs toward Israel and the missiles that are sent in our direction. We cannot determine this unambiguously: Now, I looked askance at my neighbor and, in another moment, an air raid siren is heard. This is a closed system, complex and integral, but, specifically within it, there is such a connection.

We only need to begin to connect, and we will see how, thanks to this, the world will be different. Perhaps it won’t be immediate, but, after some time, everything will begin to calm down.

A Jew Is Not A Nationality, But A Mission

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Arabs are feuding not only with Israel, but also among themselves. Civil wars are going on in many Arab countries in which they ruthlessly destroy their own brethren with all types of weapons, even chemical. It becomes clear that bad connections between people are destroying the world.

Answer: In addition, industry and trade are linked in such a negative way that we are destroying the earth, exhausting natural resources. We are killing ourselves by our own egoism, which divides us and forces us to fight.

What destroys our lives today in the 21st century is a bad connection between people. If someone can show an example of good connection between people, he will become a positive factor affecting the world, a good force, and this is the purpose of the state of Israel. No one else can bring the world to peace, except Israel.

The world is in a global crisis that has gripped absolutely everyone. This crisis will only grow, expand, and deepen, absorbing us into itself. It is like a pit that opens in the ground under our feet, where we will fall one by one.

We do not yet feel this crisis to such an extent, but we already understand that we have no leverage to correct it, and are not able to control it. Humanity is helpless before this crisis and cannot cope with it. This is the crisis of the family, of a person’s relationship to the world, to his neighbor, to his children, and to nature.

This is a crisis of nature itself, of climate. We are losing hope for life, the form of our existence, its purpose. People are gripped by such despair that they don’t understand what to live for. And here, there is an opinion, gradually formed in the world that the whole problem is in the Jews, and namely in Israel …

This hatred of the Jews, the usual anti-Semitism and the newborn “anti-Israelism,” will not stop, but will only increase. One must understand that these grievances against the Jews come from nature itself. Therefore, we must examine them and find out how “fair” they are.

If we refer to the sources with this question, i.e., the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is the true Torah, the basis of the nation of Israel, its creation and organization thousands of years ago, we will see that the grievances are correct.

Kabbalah explains why the nations of the world hate Israel. After all, it should be a light to all the nations, it should shine to all seven billion. It is his duty, for which it exists on this earth.

There is no such nationality as “Jew”! There are French, Spanish, Russian, British, but the people of Israel are no ordinary people. Anyone in the world who wants to convert to Judaism and join the people of Israel, becomes a Jew. He supports unity (Ehud) and hence is called a Jew (Yehudi).

Israel’s Wars: This Is How We Will Win

Israel's Wars: This Is How We Will WinQuestion: The wisdom of Kabbalah claims to have the solution to all of Israel’s wars. What is the connection between these wars and Kabbalah?

Answer: On the whole, Kabbalah is the method of revealing the higher system of governance and providence over all reality. We’re talking about a system of Infinity that spans across five levels of “restriction” down to our world, and controls it.

Essentially, the wisdom of Kabbalah reveals this entire gigantic system, the level of Infinity and all that lies below: the levels of Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya, down to our world. And it explains how these forces arrive from Above, from the level of Infinity, like spheres folded one into another. And as a result, our universe, Earth, and ourselves constitute the smallest sphere, which is also the focus of all these forces, of all the worlds along with everything that comprises them.

What is the purpose of this? To bring man to the desired path of development. To help him to develop via his own efforts and acquire a special desire, which is essentially the desire to become the master, one who understands, feels, and activates this entire system in place of the upper force.

Thus, all the things Nature sends our way are meant to awaken us to this—to push us to take the system’s activation into our own hands. In essence, that is what we reveal. However, in order to set this system in motion correctly, we need to learn and know a great deal; moreover, we ourselves need to upgrade, to correct ourselves. A gangster mustn’t be trusted with running a hospital. A crook mustn’t be tasked with running a bank. A person with vile inclinations mustn’t be made school principal.

In other words, the level of access to the spiritual worlds depends on the level of man’s development. By taking part in governance from Above, one takes upon oneself some part of it and activates it independently, making sure there is no difference between the commands coming down from Above and those passing through him.

The entire system is structured in a way that in the end we must undertake the governance of the level (world) of Infinity. We the people have to govern all of reality, including the degree of our world, to as if block any commands coming down from the Infinity. On the foundation of knowledge, understanding, and self-perfection we will correct ourselves to such an extent that we’ll truly be able to assume this role of governance and act in place of the upper force.

That is the process in general terms. And there are two options with which to lead us along:

  • We can correct ourselves and slot into this system willingly, with acceptance, good sense, and determination, by igniting this fire within.
  • Those upper forces of Nature that man should have replaced but didn’t pressure him, leading him through painful states.

This doesn’t mean we can already explain how and why the world is experiencing outbreaks of wars, pandemics, and other disasters. We are not familiar with the system; indeed, we are very far from being familiar with it. But if we were familiar, we would see that it is we who provoke all the problems, from the minor and personal to the great and global. We provoke them by not compensating the upper system, by not taking on the governance of reality in its place.

Question: What exactly is the purpose of the war for the nation of Israel? How does it facilitate the process of development?

Answer: As a rule, war leaves us with a negative impression. If the impression is a positive one, and we feel pride and the joy of victory, as it was after the Six Day War, for instance, then on one hand, it is good, but on the other, the deficiency from the former state of rapture is revealed over time. In the end, the Six Day War caused us great harm: We decided that everything was good and we didn’t need to work on our own relationships, to progress as a people, and correct ourselves.

Question: But in our wars we always defend against enemy attacks, being forced to fight so as to defend ourselves?

Answer: That is true. But we also need to see it from a different angle. By the late 19th century we have begun returning to the land of Israel, which, by the way, was called “Palestine” at the time. And ever since then the people that had lived here have had a problem with us. They also want to return to what they believe is their home.

If you look at the issue from the side, were we within our right to claim the territory of another nation, driving out a portion of it and settling here? On what grounds do we believe this land to be ours? On the grounds that our ancestors had lived here two thousand years ago? But it was they that had lived here, and not us.

What were the conditions of their living here? If we’re referring to history, let us check. It is said, quite simply: The Jewish people must be united as one man with one heart, by the principle of loving your neighbor as yourself. To prepare and carry out this condition, they needed forty years. Only then were they ready to enter the land of Israel, which became a place where we could live.

In the ancient times we drove seven nations from this land, and although this was a decree that came down from the Creator, it was also accompanied by a very serious discussion: Was it our right to act in such a manner?

On the whole, history shows that when we are truly united, then we live on this territory called the “land of Israel.” The era of the Temple was one of true unity among the children of Israel. But then came the descent, and we fell to brotherly strife, losing the connection between one another, meaning our spiritual degree. And that is why we were exiled from here to Babylon.

There we spent seventy years in exile and then, thanks to the events known as Purim, we were able to genuinely unite once again. How? We were faced with a dilemma: Either we would be destroyed, or we would unite as per the will of Mordecai and Esther, and thus defeat Haman and his retinue. We were successful, and returned to the land of Israel, rising in our unity to the degree of the Second Temple, albeit losing ten tribes in the process. Just look at the heavy price we pay for our disunion.

The unity of the Second Temple lasted only several years. In the time of Rabbi Akiva, new defects began manifesting. He did all he could, appealing to us to love thy neighbor as yourself, “Let’s do it! For otherwise we are doomed!” But it didn’t help. 24,000 of his students plunged into a true egoistic epidemic, a fratricidal war, and the Second Temple was subsequently ruined, driving the people back into exile.

So, if we are not united, we are not the nation of Israel. This has been the case since Abraham, who had gathered and led his group from Ancient Babylon, which represented essentially all of humanity at that time. Abraham invited to come along everybody who wanted to go to the land of Israel, to become as one man with one heart, to unite and reveal the upper force. As the Rambam writes, he was joined by five thousand followers, and he united them, laying the foundation of the nation thereby.

Therefore, at our very source we were given a very straightforward condition: no matter how different we may be, if we wish to become like the Creator, to aspire to Him (Israel stands for Yashar Kel — “straight to the Creator”), to acquire love and bestowal, in then we constitute that very notion of the nation of Israel. It is not inherited by birth. Rather, if a person undertakes this condition upon himself, he joins the nation of Israel, and if he does not, then he does not belong to them.

This means that the nation of Israel exists only in unity, only in the work towards unification, with the objective to become similar to the force of love and bestowal, the upper force.

Accordingly, the land of Israel is such only under the condition that the true nation of Israel inhabits it. If not, then it is Palestine, named after the Philistines that had lived here in the times of the first conquest three thousand years ago. In fact, without the nation of Israel being here, you can call it anything at all.

Getting back, in the late 19th century we were granted permission to come here, even though we had not gone through the “forty years in the desert,” —had not corrected ourselves and united. Moreover, we continued internecine infighting, as evidenced by the Altalena Affair and all that it entailed. Essentially, we arrived in this land in a state that’s actually pushing us to leave it.

Yet, despite the lack in preparation, we were allotted a certain time frame to correct ourselves. And if we accomplish this within said time frame, the land of Israel will become ours. Indeed, in such a case we will achieve a degree of unity of the nation of Israel, and the land will therefore correspond to its intended purpose. Such is the opportunity that we can put into effect.

So far, however, a different scenario is playing out. It’s been more than a century, and we have yet to realize the purpose of our return, have yet to understand what true nation of Israel should be like in its land. We remain nothing more than a collection of exiles, and this is not the land of Israel, for it has none of the moral principles or laws related to the notion I’m speaking now not about the laws of the Torah, but about the sole law governing our relationships: love thy neighbor as thyself. It must be a supreme canon for us.

If there’s no brotherly love among us, then instead of the good providence we suffer the distortions triggered by our faulty participation in the operation of the general system of forces. The results are clear: endless wars and problems. And the outcome is obvious: When the deadline passes for the opportunity we’ve been given, we’re going to need to leave this

Question: What exactly must the nation do concerning the principle of love thy neighbor as thyself? How do we correctly arrange the social systems, laws, and so on? Might it be enough to simply be a normal, prospering nation, and nothing more?

Answer: No. We can never be “normal” in the eyes of the world. Just the opposite, we have always been abnormal, always playing the role of strangers. There is but one condition presented to us—to unite and thus serve as an example for the whole world. That is the meaning of being a “light to the nations.”

Today we do not share a connection imbued with brotherly love. We are engaged in conflicts and competition among ourselves, we feel hatred, repulsion, indifference, and loathing for one another. This negativity goes deep down, and it is truly the cause of all wars and After all, we claim to be that same nation that came out of Ancient Babylon. So why do we not observe the laws upon which it was built?

The nation of Israel is possible only if we observe the condition of unity, by creating the appropriate mechanism of relationships in the entire society, and also by caring that the world come to unity as well. The global crisis is not accidental—it was caused precisely by disconnection. And whose fault is it that the world is lacking the right kind of adhesion?

Who’s depriving it of harmony in the relations between people and harmony with Nature? Only the nation of Israel. After all, it is this nation which must lead by example and teach others about unity.

And if we don’t, the nations of the world accuse us of robbery: “You have driven Arabs from this land, the people who used to live here, but you are not doing anything to justify it, you are not realizing your mission. We supported you ardently at first, thinking that your return will help you to actualize your main condition. But today we see that you’ve become a bone stuck in the throat of the world….”

One might think, why are we put to such a high standard? But we cannot view the nation of Israel through the typical criteria. Israel is special, and even though we try to be like everybody else, we are doomed to fail from the start. If you want to be like everybody else, don’t be Jewish.

Indeed, the mission of the nation of Israel is to be the good teacher for the world. And if that doesn’t happen, it will be accused for being a bad example and blamed for all the world’s problems. We have always been the butt of a natural, instinctive hatred, and that alone testifies of our special role. So, let us see what exactly we are capable of and what the nations are truly demanding of us.

We can only balance the situation with the right example of unification, which will allow us to resolve the crisis.

Question: What can we lean on to not be like everybody else? That is a difficult task.

Answer: Lean on the wisdom of Kabbalah. That is why it is being revealed in our world, and explaining what has to be done. With its help we can correct the nation of Israel and the whole world, for it allows us to use the upper force to arrange everything in proper order. It is indeed the pillar that will grant us confidence.

Armistice Between The People Of Israel, Not Outside Of Them

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Are you trying to say that rockets will not cease until I begin to love every Israeli like my own child? This means that this situation is absolutely hopeless because there is no chance that this condition can be carried out.

Answer: What if you suddenly discover that all the people of Israel are as close to you as your own children, that they are that closely connected to you and you to them? Suddenly, your vision would expand to such an extent that you would feel that they are a part of you and far more inseparable than your own children. If a miracle happens and a perception of this connection suddenly appears within you, would it be hard for you to love them?

Now, you love your children so much that they are more dear to you than your own life. However, suddenly, a feeling appears in you that you begin to feel other people, all the Jews living in Israel, like your own dear children. You would feel that they are closely connected to you, and depend on you and you on them.

It would be impossible to break this connection because they became closer to you than your own children. Also, you would always worry about them like they were your children. You would want to always be connected to them with your entire heart and soul. This situation simply would force you always to think about them and care for the love and connection so that everyone would be happy.

Today, you are driven by your love for your children, which was given to you by nature. Similarly, nature will beget a love for your entire nation within you, and you will care for every one of them and want to do well by everyone. At the same time, you will receive an opportunity to help everyone, and you will relax.

Every person will feel this way toward everyone else because they will perceive the others as a part of them. The fact that everyone is in his own body will not matter. Your children also have physical bodies, but you still care for them like for yourself. You want them to be happy and you will perceive everyone else the same way, in other words, to feel like they are even closer than that.

No one expects that you will make this happen immediately, but do not think that it is impossible. If our connection suddenly becomes revealed, this will become possible.

Question: However, human nature dictates that there is no one closer to a person than himself!

Answer: This is exactly why you will care for them once you feel like they are an inseparable part of you. Obviously, this is not a natural state, but it can happen just like when a woman births a child and begins to care constantly for him since he becomes her most dear part and more important than her own life.

Nature makes it happen, and it can make us love everyone else like our own self. This definitely will happen one day.

We must understand that the only way to end the Qassams is though the connection between us. Our unity will relax our neighbors and even turn them from enemies into our most loyal and closest friends, and the entire world, which is now standing behind them and will not allow anyone to touch them.

You soon will see how we will be required to cease fire and stop in the middle of this operation. We will not be able to complete it. The threat will remain, and tens of thousands of rockets will be aimed constantly at us.

However, if we unite, the entire world will change and say that they feel that we are their closest friends and that they want to be with us and will connect to us with their heart and soul. Through unity, we become the Light to the nations. We show them how to rise above their egoism, which never stops ruling over everyone and does not let go of entire nations and countries, this entire planet.

We can show everyone an example through our unity and teach them how to rise above their egoism. Then, our life will become peaceful and happy, and we hold the key to this life.

The nations of the world understand this subconsciously, and they blame Israel for bringing harm to the entire world and are to blame for all the world’s problems. The people of Israel do not see the connection, but other nations feel that this connection exists. To them, it is clear that Israel is the source of evil. This is their way of saying that Israel can be the source of all goodness, but is not carrying out its responsibilities.

The only way to disarm Hamas is by uniting between us within the nation of Israel. This way, we will stop supplying the world with an evil force. The entire world is blaming us for causing them harm. We are the channel through which bad energy flows out into the world.

People who have had no connection to Israel, who are on the opposite side of the world and do not share any borders with Israel, insist on this. They feel this subconsciously. This is their way of saying that Israel can be a source of good energy. If you want the wars to stop, to become the source of goodness, do good to the entire world.

The world only lacks connection, a friendly attitude toward other people: love. At least, do not do the things that you hate to others, and only Israel can bring this attitude to the world, under the condition that they follow it first. Let us begin with not wishing bad things to our neighbors!

The Heart Of The Nation

The Heart Of The NationQuestion: What connection is required of us? Is it the same thoughts and opinions?

Answer: How is each of us connected with their children? Do we have the same thoughts and opinions as they do? However, love will cover all sins!

Comment: This is quite true, but we are quite different in our home. Even twins are different. Therefore, it is impossible to reach the same opinion, yet we are very connected and close to each other. I do not know how it happens, but we are united by hearts.

Answer: It is that you love your children, despite all the differences between you. This is the kind of connection that is called “Love covers all transgressions.”

Question: Does it turn out that everyone can stay with his views, left or right?

Answer: Of course. If my children do not share my views, does this reduce my love for them? No! They are totally unrelated things. Similarly, it is in relation to other people.

Question: The last war revealed sharp differences among the people, between left and right, hardliners and peacekeepers. If we achieve unity of the people, will everyone be able to have his opinion?

Answer: In any case, I will feel one man with one heart, regardless of the differences in our views. Love between us must be paramount to bring us to unity, to the connection of one man with one heart, and under all that, if we have differences, that’s not so bad.

Question: However, if there is a disagreement of opinion, is it very hard to connect?

Answer: Suppose that there are differences, but the “One who creates peace in heaven will unite us.” We finally will understand how to do this. You just need to begin to act. There is no need to try to understand everything in advance. We are not capable of this now. So, we should just start to work, to unite with each other, to participate in workshops and discussions in circles.

Thus, we will discover that even though we are all different and distant from each other, despite this, we can build a common center of feeling. In this overall experience, we feel together as one heart for everyone.

When we are sitting together and talking, everyone trying to get out of himself and become integrated with others, in the center of our connection, we turn into one person with one heart. By this, we will open the tap, and the Light is shed through such a united group to the entire world.

If ten men of the people of Israel try to unite in this way, then as a result, millions of people of the nations of the world will feel that their lives are improving and thus, will change their attitude toward Israel, and if the world’s opinion changes, Hamas will not be able to do anything against us!

Question: What hope can you give us to solve this crisis?

Answer: I do not give any hope, but I am giving you an effective tool, the tool to unite people. What is required from us is not faith, but action. I wish us luck!

Unity Of Israel: Time Is Running Out

A Time To Act As One Man With One Heart

Dr. Michael LaitmanIsrael is at war. There has never been such war before. For the first time, rockets of Israel-haters almost cover our whole country. Today in the firing range are five million Israelis. Previously, Israel was divided into climatic zones; but today, minutes and seconds were added into this division. It’s the time allotted to us and to our children to hide from incoming missiles.

We are fighting and we will be fighting until we win, but that is not the reason. Hatred motivates our enemy: How can we overcome it? We supply them with food, electricity, treat their wounded and we exchange the body of our soldiers for hundreds of live terrorists. We agree to a “humanitarian” ceasefire. And what do we get in return? Only hatred and anger.

And if it were just our neighbors. What about the internal enemies? Riots in Jerusalem, as well as the demonstrations in Judea and Samaria last week, are vivid examples.

How does the world respond to what is happening? Brazil and Ecuador are withdrawing their ambassadors. Anti-Israel demonstrations are taking place in  Germany, France, England, Italy, and other countries. They unanimously require that we get out of Gaza. In other words, they want us to not interfere with Hamas who are digging tunnels and firing rockets at us.

The whole world, not saying a word, is united against us, and us: “Where is our unity!?”

When missiles are falling on Tel Aviv, some of our people go to the streets with demonstrations against our combat with Hamas. When rioters in Paris burn shops of French Jews, American Jews protest in Manhattan with signs “Boycott Israeli Apartheid.”

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

History repeats itself in a horrible way. Haters of Jews are united among themselves, and the Jews are either passive, or, on the contrary, show examples of self-destructive indifference.

Before the looming Holocaust, the eminent Kabbalist of the 20th century, Baal HaSulam asked, even begged, the Jewish people to unite, but no one listened to him. Here is what he wrote in the editorial of the first and, at the same time, last issue of HaUma (The Nation) published on June 5, 1940:

If we don’t hope for a miracle, it becomes clear that our existence—both individually and as a nation—is teetering on the scales of life and death.

If we lose time and do not rise together as one man in order to apply tremendous effort needed in the hour of danger, saving for ourselves the remaining part of Israel, then the events, happening now, will turn rampant, as the situation unfolds according to the will of our enemies, who intend to wipe us from the face of Earth.

It is also clear that the enormous efforts on the path, which lies before us and containing abundant obstacles, will require unity, firm and unbreakable as steel, of every part of our people without exception.

HOW TO UNITE

Unfortunately, few people know that Kabbalah is primarily a method of unity. Throughout history, Kabbalists united people, but there were always external and more often, internal forces that prevented this. When the idea of unity prevailed among the nation, it won, and when the nation was torn by internal contradictions, its enemies defeated it.

Today, Kabbalists are again make every effort to unite the people of Israel, and the best opportunity to experience the real power of unity are in the discussion circles that are held across the country.

With the help of the Kabbalistic method of unity, it is possible to overcome any barrier: mentality, origin, age, political views, or any other. Common efforts can overcome rejection, disagreement, and misunderstanding. We are all different, but we can become “as one man with one heart!”

Hamas Will Eliminate Its Own Missiles

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What does it mean to carry out the mission of the people of Israel, to return to the religion?

Answer: This is not what is required. It is necessary only to begin to be involved with uniting the people. This is called the wisdom of Kabbalah, the wisdom of connection and unity. The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about this.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains the structure of the world and the great collective system that manages it. The upper higher system of management is designed to help people understand and attain it. And it is only possible by detaching from it and learning it gradually from this state.

It is precisely due to our division, separation, and shattered state that we slightly begin to discover this higher system of conduct,“as far as light excelleth darkness,” (Ecclesiastes 2:13). This system is singular, complete, integral, and analog; we must gradually build ourselves the same way within.

The moment we connect between us in a general common “circle” where we are all are equal, where all friends help each other and are connected together with love, then the higher system begins to act in a good way towards us and helps us. Then we advance towards the good.

But Israel is at the center of all humanity, at the foundation of all religions and faiths. And so, the moment we begin to advance towards the good by uniting to be like one person with one heart, we immediately pass this good power to the whole world.

The whole world also begins to feel itself as circular, linked. Suddenly everyone understands how wonderful it is to be in connection with others and how much individuality, competition, and our thirst for money and control harms us. On the contrary, it is much better to be equal and united together.

This attitude comes rom Israel and influences the entire world. All of humanity then begins to receive a round form like this. In this manner, instead of being a negative source, Israel becomes a source of good for the whole world.

Such a task stands before us: “becoming a light to the nations.” This is the main thing that we must do.

Certainly as long as missiles are falling upon us it is necessary to fight and defend ourselves, to stop them. But we must understand that the military operation itself will not lead to any solution. Everyone already understands this. We will have no place in this world if we remain as we are.

The army is imperative until we connect among us to the degree that Hamas will eliminate its missiles and tunnels itself, thanks to our influence. They are linked with us, and through our separation within the people of Israel, we invite their fire upon us.

That is how they unconsciously are fighting with the evil found within us. And the moment we transform our evil into good and cover ourselves with love, a protective dome of love instead of the Iron Dome anti-missile system, our enemies will become friends and will also want to join us and learn from us.

They all fiercely want to be with us, but through our internal separation we reject them, send them away, and produce hatred in them, and cause all the disasters in the world.

Question: What evil are you talking about? Other people in our position would have already annihilated such hostile neighbors. Instead we are healing our enemies in our hospitals at the height of the war.

Answer: This is not what they want from us at all. Our hospitals don’t interest them at all. They want to receive a new human nature so that they will participate together with us and the whole world. Then connection and love will prevail, creating a circle of unity.

Israel: Hope For A New Life

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Now all of Israel is under rocket fire and everyone felt what it means to live in constant tension and fear like residents of the south of the country have been experiencing for more than ten years. During this time, a generation of children has grown up whom we call the “generation Qassam.”

This is a generation that is accustomed to the constant air-raid sirens and life in shelters. We do not have the most basic conditions necessary for life. We cannot let a child go to a kindergarten without fear—if this kindergarten functions at all.

We almost have lost hope that our lives will ever improve. There were so many attempts to find a true, permanent solution that would solve this problem forever. However, at best, we get a break for a few months, and then everything returns. What solution can you offer to give us hope for a new life?

Answer: Now, for the first time in the history of the modern state of Israel, I really feel hope for change. For the first time, after two thousand years of exile, we finally have hope.

In the old days, it was impossible even to think about the true mission of the people of Israel who are intended to bring the entire world to liberation. However, today, this mission is becoming more obvious, and it is precisely from this difficult condition our nation exists in now.

The history of human development should lead us all to unity. We, human beings, do not unite with each other in a natural way as does the still, vegetative, and animate world. All of nature behaves as a single mechanism, a general, closed, integral system. In nature, everything is connected and in harmony, in balance, with each other.

However, as a result of his development, the human being brought imbalance into this system. The more humankind develops, the greater imbalance it causes in the system. It, itself, is unbalanced within itself because of its huge egoism, pushes people away from each other, and tears humanity to pieces, and the same egoism separates us from the whole of nature.

The human being becomes such a harmful organism that he recognizes no balance or harmony and disregards anything except his own immediate benefit. I cannot abandon my egoism for the sake of the next moment, even for myself. Every second, it controls me so much that I cannot think of anything except my fulfillment at every moment of my existence.

If I can do this at the expense of someone else, it is even better. If, along the way, I crush him, I feel much nicer. Thus, I build myself on general destruction.

Thus, we have come to the general crisis that the world experiences today. It is impossible to solve this crisis by any means except for the realization of the mission of the people of Israel.

This crisis is not only in Israel, but all over the world—the crisis of everyone, of the entire still, vegetative, and animate nature, in the economy, education, and family. This is a global crisis, involving the entire world and already is leading to a third world war.

This is a special state that has no precedent in history. We never have been so connected between each other around the globe, have never been in such dependence on each other. For the first time, we have found ourselves completely confused without any means of control over our lives. All of life is out of our control.

We see that, among the leaders, the heads of governments and large organizations, there is no one who knows what to do with the world. There is no such king or president. It is a desperate state, causing general depression. To correct it, we must achieve balance with the general system of nature. This is the mission of the people of Israel entrusted to it since the days of ancient Babylon.

In ancient Babylon, we were in such a state, but then we were a small group of three million people living in a small area in the Mesopotamian region. Our presumptuous egoism made us build a tower to the heavens. No one wanted to know the other, although before that, we used to live in mutual harmony and understanding. However, then things went awry.

Then, a group of people led by Abraham broke away from the Babylonians. This group didn’t want to go along with egoism but sought the Creator and love toward others. That’s why they called themselves Israel, which means “straight to the Creator.”

The Torah tells about the stages that this group underwent in its correction: the ups and downs with respect to their connection with each other. In the end, they will realize their dreams and reach connection, which is called “the nation of Israel in the land of Israel.”

In the meantime, all the other Babylonians were scattered around the globe and continued to evolve with their egoism. Now, it is necessary to correct all of humanity. Thus, Israel must become a light to the nations of the world. Just as Abraham had once taught them, they must now teach all of humanity how to achieve balance with nature and peace.

When we reveal general perfection, we will rise to a completely different dimension. This is the role of the people of Israel in the world. It turns out that, as long as we do not realize our purpose—do not set an example to all the nations of the world, do not give them knowledge, Light, correction, fulfillment, the feeling of a round, kind, connected world—we will feel their hatred.

After all, they all feel that they should get something good from Israel, and don’t get it. Thus, they blame Israel for all the world’s problems. Although there is no evidence to support our connection with negative events, the nations of the world intuitively sense that all the evil in the world comes from us, from the smallest to the largest.

On the one hand, they know that we are special, smart people, full of strength and opportunities. On the other hand, we did not bring them what they needed to get from us. That’s why they feel that we are the cause of all their troubles.

So, when we look today at Hamas, we need to see how, gradually, the entire world, without exception, is gathering behind it. Those groups, countries, and organizations that were once our allies, gradually are leaving us and switching to the other side, including Jews living in other countries.

That is because we are approaching a state where everyone in the world is beginning to feel that Israel is a harmful country, a bad force, because it was obliged to do good for everyone, but doesn’t.

That is, we are fighting not with Hamas and not even with the world. We are at war with a completely different opponent. Indeed, the world is passive and just waiting for something good from us.

How can we get rid of Qassam rockets and solve this problem once and for all? There’s no physical solution. The military operation that is going on now should show this quite clearly. We stand against the enemy who is willing to die. It does not care about children, does not care about its own life. It is ready to do anything to wipe us off the face of the earth as a source of evil in the world, and the entire world is behind it.

We are a small nation standing against this enemy, and at the same time, divided, fragmented, and split by disputes. This is our state.

What solution do we hope for? The solution is simple: We must give the world the idea that Abraham brought us once, that is, connection, unity, and love cover everything happening in the world. Love will cover all sins.

We do not need to fight against egoism and evil, but we need to teach the entire world, and above all ourselves, how to be in a kind and good connection between ourselves. Then, we must bring all the rest to it so that all people are united by ties of love, as it is taught in the Torah, “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” This is the basic law of the entire Torah, which explains the structure of the whole universe.

Question: I did not understand. Do I have to love those who shoot missiles at me?

Answer: First of all, you must love every Jew, at least within the boundaries of the state of Israel, as you love yourself. You should relate equally to your family, to your children, and the neighbor who lives near you.

When we reach such love among the people of Israel; we will become a Light to the nations of the world and be able to show them an example that it is possible to live in connection and love.

That’s exactly what the world expects of us. All of these wars are intended only to oblige us to find the right connection between us and become a Light to all the nations, a correct and good example for all of humanity.

We have a method that allows us to realize this called Kabbalah. It accompanies us in concealment throughout our journey, but is revealed only today for the implementation of this principle: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
