Problem Number One

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe problem with education is the biggest problem in the world. It is thought that a human being is differentiated from animals specifically because of education. But If we compare how humans and animals raise their offspring, to our great sorrow, we don’t have anything to boast about or be proud of.

Animals educate their offspring until they learn how to live correctly, protect themselves, develop, and reproduce. While we educate our children in the same manner, when they mature, they withdraw and kill themselves.

This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the educational results of the present generation can only be seen twenty years later. And if, after twenty years, something begins to change, the future changes will be revealed and appear in another twenty years and even later.

According to the example of my generation, one could say that we didn’t devote any attention to sex education and mutual relationships between young people. They didn’t teach us how to educate children and how to build the right relationships in a family between parents and children, in society, or with our neighbors.

We didn’t learn the psychology of the person, or the society in which we live, or the psychology of the world. This negligence in education cannot replace intelligence.

Education is the most important thing in life, but we don’t get it in kindergarten, in school, or in universities. Even those who finish their studies in psychology remain undeveloped psychologically because their education is not appropriate to their age. This is in contrast to what usually happens with animals that develop and naturally connect with nature. Humans don’t have this.

Most adults don’t differ from children in any way. They don’t know how exactly what is necessary to behave, how to interact correctly with their surrounding environment or in the family. Men are not familiar with the psychology of women and women are not familiar with the psychology of men, so they don’t know how to communicate correctly between them.

The wisdom of Kabbalah says very simply that if we want to live normally, even simply, we must organize our material home life, and that first and foremost we must pay attention to education. And it is not important on what level of technological development we exist as the main thing for us is the good organization of human life and a normal, healthy family. This is what we are missing so much.

It is specifically on this that the wisdom of Kabbalah places an emphasis, in that it is explained that from a person must be made a social component included in a communications circle, to create the possibility of the right mutual cooperation with other people, and show in what manner he can come in contact with them so that human society will become one family.

Only in a case like this will we feel ourselves in safety, comfort, and pleasure and be able to comfortably pass on to our children the safe and comfortable world that we have prepared for them.

Soon Everyone Will Want His Own Planet

Dr. Michael LaitmanRegarding money and questions about the economy in general, countless books have been written by Nobel Prize winners in this field. Interestingly, despite this, they are frequently mistaken.

The ability to profit from a connection with other people, to buy and sell and create special relationships with them changes a person into Adam (human). Before this, people acted only through the use of force.

But today, anyone with money is found at the top of the social pyramid.

If I don’t have money, I cannot get food, establish a family or buy a house. In exchange for money I buy power, respect, and all my means of communication, because everything depends upon how the amount paid. It turns out that money is a cover, with it I can fulfill any desire.

There are some things that I cannot buy, for example, wisdom, or other kinds of characteristics I receive from nature. But it is possible to acquire them with money by buying people possessing those characteristics. For example, I can pay a person to write a book that will be signed with my name.

Not long ago, there was no substitute for money. But in the 1960s, a community of people appeared who related to wealth with contempt. They wanted to be happy about other things and wanted to be happy internally.

And even though the ego thirsts for fulfillment, many today no longer agree to a life of constant tension. A poor person has no happiness because he has no money, and a rich person has no happiness because besides money, he has nothing. And this is not a problem of money, but a problem of the society that gives us these values.

When a person has the possibility of getting everything, he loses his desire. In this sense the poor are more successful than the rich. If I have a need that I can cover through effort, if it pulls me forward, if I see pleasure through working for it in a future that shines for me from a distance, then I am happy.

A wonderful example of this need is the yearning of lovers to meet each other. This illuminates their entire lives; they wait for this meeting and are ready to overcome all difficulties for it.

If we could exist without dependence on society, let’s say, on some deserted island, and we could educate our children as we truly want, then we could get them accustomed to a simple way of life. Then they would live without tension, without crises and tragedies.

Today the world is experiencing an economic crisis. But essentially this is an ideological crisis: We have developed artificial desires in people, and after that, it turns out that we cannot satisfy them. With our claims and demands soon everyone will want his own planet. But even then he will not relax because he will immediately envy a neighbor whose planet is bigger.

The time has arrived to scrutinize how to utilize the power of covering, the power of money. On the one hand, it is necessary to educate a person such that he will bring his needs to a necessary level that we can satisfy.

On the other hand, it is necessary to think carefully about how to organize the economy so that it will be ready to create everything needed and a system of education that will move a person towards rational needs and ways to fill his spare time.

It follows that in the new economy people will be involved with the creation of money coverings for the rational balance of physical desires as well as the higher spiritual desires that will be discovered in them. This is how they will advance.

The Force Of Overcoming, Part 3

laitman_527_01The essence of overcoming is that a person feels the importance in what he did not appreciate before. For example, he wants to lose weight and that it is why he joins a weight loss association. In this society, everyone talks how bad it is to be fat, how much it harms health, causes others to make fun of you, and makes you clumsy and awkward.

Hearing all this, one is burning with the desire to lose weight. The environment has a strong influence on a person, and he begins to follow a diet. In the past, he could not help eating sweets. And now he suddenly loses taste for the things that he loved before. Thus, he is gradually changing.

That is, overcoming is related not to the action itself, but to the acquired feeling of importance of what was previously thought unimportant and did not do, as one followed one’s desire.

But now I have overcome my reluctance, acquired a new need, desire, and value, and therefore, I act to achieve it. It is already not difficult for me and does not require overcoming.

Suppose I must refrain from eating lunch. In the beginning it was absolutely impossible for me because I longingly waited for this lunch from the morning. But now I not only stopped waiting for it but I forget all about it. That is, overcoming was needed to stop thinking about food, but not to abstain from it.

Question: At some point, a person gets accustomed to the diet so much that it becomes easy to observe it?

Answer: No, it is not about a habit, but about finding such a strong desire to become slender that will completely suppress my appetite.

Before I was drawn to something harmful to me and I was constantly thinking about it. But now I think precisely about this harm, which becomes more important for me than pleasure. Being slender is more important to me than eating something tasty and gaining weight. And I cannot lose weight while eating everything in sight.

If the risk of obesity for me is more important than the pleasure of food, then the importance of this, my desire to be healthy, directs me to the other side. So, it is not difficult for me to follow a diet. I forget that delicious food exists at all.

That is, I do not need to overcome my desire to eat all the time, overcoming is required only to maintain a constant understanding in me of the importance of being slender.

Usually people associate overcoming with a struggle with their desire to eat tasty food. But this is not correct. Overcoming is to always seek confirmation of how good it is to be fit. I have to constantly make affirmations: “It is important to be slender! How fit people around me are! How disgusting it is to be fat!”

Then I will not be afraid to pass by a restaurant or a pastry shop; their flavors will not attract me because I will aim at different things. My desire will not be directed to food but at how to be slender. That is, I need to change the vector of my focus, goal, to switch attention from one to the other: from tasty food to a slender figure. This is the entirety of overcoming.

How Does One Sell Happiness?

laitman_228Question: When I look at my family and my immediate environment, I ask myself, “Is depression the result of a lack of desire to buy new things or is it created from a lack of money?”

It could be that if there were more money, happiness would return, and it would be possible to continue to celebrate purchases. However, I noticed something else: boredom.

Answer: The world doesn’t have the content that a person is looking for now. In the past, it was enough for us to see an interesting movie, have fun, and have guests. We lived in a more natural way and thought that this would go on.

However, the situation has changed. On the one hand, manufacturers don’t take into account the change in people. So, in fashion shows, designers invent costumes that are far from reality. This is a unique art through which they want to convey their views about a person’s individuality. Their examples are appropriate only for people who weigh ninety pounds, and are six and a half feet tall.

On the other hand, desires are changing fundamentally and have moved on to a new quality. Instead of money, respect, control, education, and even knowledge, a person now wants to know what he is living for. He apparently stops mid-life and begins to ponder things.

This desire comes from within; it is not because we suddenly become smarter or become philosophical. Nature changes us according to its program and thought, and we are not the masters of this.

We must see this trend, but we don’t have any possibility of changing, stopping, or slowing it down somehow. We must agree that this process will not only continue but also will expand. We will feel it more deeply and it will be difficult for us to resist it.

If we understand this from the start and react consciously, then the communications media and advertising gradually will change in the direction of greater flexibility. Then, they will go along with nature. In the opposite situation, they are like two trains, each going in the opposite direction.

We see that the world is returning to a natural form and contracting to its natural consumption. This is expressed more clearly in the financial sector. Paper money is losing its value. Everything is returning toward natural equality.

In other words, very soon, the level of our consumption will match exactly the amount of gold that we have. Then, it will be very important to understand what the new form of production and consumption will be.

We were educated by advertisements that things supposedly would make us beautiful, respected, and successful. This means that they were selling us pleasure, and what pleasures can be sold now for the new desire? It is pleasure from connection and unity! Clothe them in entertainment or creativity and a person will feel them as the source of his pleasure.

A Push Toward Unity

laitman_938_02Question: Our sick friend became the reason for connecting and consolidating the world group. Can we initiate and create points like these in ourselves, not derived from someone’s illness, but from our goal, from something good?

Answer: Certainly, we must gather all our problems on the way toward the goal, everything that disturbs our connection, or vice versa, everything that can be used as a push, drive, and incentive toward our unity.

However, on the other hand, the Creator gives us new conditions for every one of our steps toward the Light. So, what will be, will be. We must take all this into account.

However, for now, the Creator specifically chose a sick friend so that we would carry out a mass action of connection for him. For this, we must respect, love, appreciate, and take care of him, for he now has become a means for our advancement.

However, even without this incident, in any case, we should search for other methods of advancement. Generally, we find them in dissemination because within the group itself there is no particularly sharp push or incentive for connection and unity. However, when we are engaged in dissemination, as a general rule we begin to get all kinds of problems that help us unite together to solve them.

Question: When the activity in Sochi was arranged, we all were involved in dissemination there. Now, we aren’t doing activities like these, so, apparently as a counterweight, our friend became ill.

If we plan an activity like this again and begin to be involved with it, then all attention will be directed there. Could it be that the Creator will stimulate us to advance only in a good way then, through dissemination?

Answer: First, I don’t put any conditions on the Creator, and I don’t determine my actions according to what will be or won’t be. None of this is my problem. I am not responsible for this mechanism. It is necessary to do everything to move the system toward correction maximally and most efficiently. This is possible only through dissemination of the method of integral education and knowledge.

Give a general shout into the entire space of Russian speakers that you first are going out for one dissemination activity, then another, and so on. To the degree possible, make a general program that will be accepted in all regions because all of the groups are on different levels of development. However, you can do this and be in constant communication and connection among yourselves.

In fact, the action in Sochi united a circle that was not large. It was a good idea, but how many people were there in comparison to all of the groups? They sat in one place and cooked by themselves as in a big pot, and now it is necessary for something else to appear from all of this cooking and from the Saint Petersburg convention.

You must begin to act in wider circles and not continue with actions on ourselves. I think no one would prohibit actions like these. It is possible to try to arrange them under a pleasant slogan about the unity of all of humanity, a call for mutual understanding and the like.

All Together At The Point Of The Big Bang

laitman_933Question: What is the connection between relationships among people and relationships among viruses?

Answer: All of nature is like one soup in which all of us are cooking together, regardless of whether they are large bodies or tiny viruses. Everything that happens in the soup is transmitted to everything found within it: to stones, to plants, to animals, and to people.

This is a global, integral system. A global world means that there are an infinite number of mutual connections; everyone is connected to all the rest. They say that you communicate with all of humanity through five people you know. But the threads that connect them in every possible form, stretching from one to another, are not just between people, but are between all of the components of nature in general.

The entire universe emerged from the point of the “Big Bang,” from one source, and it began to expand and develop. And all of us have remained connected with each other since then. These are like spider webs in which there is not a single atom or elementary particle that isn’t connected with all of creation.

We must take this into account and inform the younger generation, specifically providing them with this view of the world. Otherwise we can’t expect a good life for them in this era of globalization.

Question: What does each person need to understand to be able to pass through this period successfully?

Answer: It is necessary to understand that I am living in a system in which I am linked with everyone and everyone is linked with me with such tight connections, like iron bars, that my slightest movement causes shifts throughout the system on all levels. A person doesn’t understand this and thinks that he is isolated from all the others. But that is impossible.

Everything came from a higher source where the universe came into existence, from the point of the Big Bang. After that it spread out, reaching every level. We must take this into account and understand that it is as if we are found in the very point itself of the Big Bang.

Periodic Table Of Nature

Laitman_709Question: Since the ‘30s of the previous century, the world has become one big village and from that time should we have related to humanity as one family, with one government, with one world “Ministry of Health”?

Answer: It should have been done even before then, from the ‘20s! World War I was a reaction to our disregard for the general system that connects everyone together.

It is not important that there are regions in South America, Africa, and Asia where they live as if it were a thousand years ago. In a family there are both adults and children, less developed and more developed according to age. But our attitude towards everyone must be equal.

Such unity should have been reached by humanity at the beginning of the 20th century, but was not. And so it got the first and second world wars and today’s Ebola epidemic.

Question: And if we relate to the whole world as one family, would the virus not spread? How is this connected, and how does the system work in relationships between people, countries, and nations? How does the Ebola virus know when it needs to spread and when not to?

Answer: A viral epidemic is the result of an imbalance. We violate the balance in the system, and on every one of its levels some kind of deviation from the balance that we must forcibly reconcile appears. In order to forcibly reconcile the lack of balance and restore the system to a state of balance, the Ebola epidemic has broken out.

The human level is above the entire system, this being the relationship between individual people, nations, and countries. And its highest stratum is determined by balance among the people of Israel.

Israel is found at the highest part of the human pyramid in the sense that it is inside of it and requires balance first; particularly in the State of Israel balance is required. And so the removal of imbalance and accordingly the Ebola plague is primarily dependent upon the people of Israel.

Question: What is not clear is what the relationship is between the upper level, where we communicate with each other as one family or as strangers, and somewhere below how it is infested with viruses?

Answer: Well, this is a unified system that includes within it all of the levels of the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking. All of nature is a single system outside of which there is nothing.

Nature includes various levels of matter, beginning from the still, where atoms connect with each other and form the chemical elements: carbon, oxygen, copper, silver, gold and the like. After that comes the vegetative level with the myriad of different plants, then the animate level, and then the human level.

The human level does not refer to a bipedal mammal, rather it refers to human intelligence, knowledge, evolution, and consciousness that allows him to see that he belongs entirely to a single system. Man begins from his determining that he is found within a single unified system of nature and depends upon everything and everything depends upon him.

He sees that he perceives a higher level and through his behavior and relationship with people he determines everything that happens to all the rest of the levels of nature.

When he ascends and descends, the human raises and lowers the entire still, vegetative, and animate nature along with him.

Ebola Is The Mirror Image Of The State Of Society

laitman_220Question: The behavior of the Ebola virus, its aggressiveness, ruthlessness, the ability to settle inside a person and kill him inside, reflects the contemporary human society as if in a mirror. It seems that the spread of the deadly virus across continents is a consequence of increased violence among the people?

Answer: Of course, these things are connected. By disturbing the balance on the human level, we project it on the lower levels, causing an imbalance in the body.

It only seems as if our body exists separately. But in fact, it generally floats in the general soup, and its internal state is the same as in the soup outside. We exist within a system that does not perceive us as separate bodies.

Comment: No boundaries can stop the Ebola virus. If now its outbreak occurred in Liberia and other West African countries, it does not mean that it will remain there. It understands that all of humanity is one body, but we do not understand that fact.

The World Health Organization has recognized that it awoke too late to fight the virus, only after it went beyond the borders of Africa and all of a sudden became a worldwide problem. While it was raging in Africa, no one was worried, but as soon as it came to the United States and Spain, then people started shouting and it was noticed. It turns out that the epidemic is already at a catastrophic scale.

Answer: We think that the epidemic originated in Africa because of the low standard of living. But the reason is that we neglect these countries, do not deal with them, and do not accept them as part of our family. Our neglect leads to an outbreak there, and then it will come to us.

Question: So, it turns out that the weak place, which we neglect in our human society, becomes a convenient focus of the infection where it can penetrate and begin to spread throughout the body? As if we hurt our toe with a resulting inflammation, which we did not pay attention to until it spread further?

Answer: We can even make a purely pragmatic calculation, how much will it cost us now to fight the epidemic of Ebola, compared with how much we have spent on the establishment of a minimum balance and raising African countries to the level of all others.

The Root Of Ebola: Isolation Will Not Help

Laitman_703_04Question: You say that today we represent a single organism. Consequently, ailments of society apply to each individual because he is part of the whole?

Answer: Yes. What is needed today is general calculation. After all, we have closed the entire globe, all the continents, all civilizations, all the nations and peoples into a single planetary civilization system. Therefore, no one alone can correct anything in it. On the contrary, all decisions must be all-inclusive.

We already see and will see more and more clearly in the coming years how various natural disasters affect everyone. In oriental medicine, it is customary to find out what exactly caused the disease in a person.

Today, a collective illness, which affects everyone, is added to this. Therefore, treatment should be comprehensive, holistic, and not fragmented.

Only in recent years have we begun to understand that humanity is a single entity. We have taken hold of the entire globe, have established a variety of interconnections, found ourselves dependent upon each other, and all of them are the outward signs of our undivided unity. That is why the imbalance in one place is reflected on everyone.

In the past, what did the Indians have to do with what was happening in Europe? They did not even know of its existence. The same with the Australian aborigines and many others. The Chinese have long been shut off from the world; the Japanese did not let foreigners in.

But today, everything has changed. We are one, entwined by the threads of interconnections. The internal evolution of human society seemingly weaved a blanket, common for everyone, and covered the Earth with it.

That is why no one can isolate himself from the world to establish happiness in one individual country or village. Isolation will not help because it cannot be achieved. No one can escape to his own private island in the middle of the ocean.

The system does not take into account our childish attempts to hide in a shell. The system’s forces and laws penetrate any wall and barrier, merging everyone together. No matter how much you distance yourself, no matter how much you isolate yourself, you are connected by invisible threads with all of humanity, and its fate will still be yours.

We will see how the most “protected” countries become vulnerable, despite all the precautions. If imbalance has affected the system, then it has affected all the nations and continents to the extent of how much each of them lacks balance.

In the end, one way or the other, everything depends only on the imbalance of human society. Therefore, only by maintaining social balance can we protect our health. If we want to get rid of diseases, then it is one more reason to balance social relations. Otherwise, no medications will help.

It all starts with a person. People need to know that they are in a unified system that must be brought into balance, as this is the benchmark, the sign and the basis of all types of health: physical, family and social.

Question: What does it mean, “to bring into balance”? How is it expressed?

Answer: It means that we interact with each other as if we are parts of one body. Indeed it is in reality. Any system is a body, parts of which care about each other.

At least, it is necessary, finally, to think about this; we need initial advancements in this direction. And then we will see how Ebola along with other ailments retreats, releasing enormous resources that are being invested today in pharmacology and medicine. They will not require these investments, if only we will support social health.

The Root Of Ebola: My Health Is Not In My Hands

laitman_547_04We ourselves produce phenomena such as Ebola; we ourselves cause such outbreaks, spikes of imbalances. Much was told about this in the framework of ancient healing practices, including Eastern ones.

Modern medicine has evolved over the past few centuries and before that a real doctor was not limited to giving remedies.

Many ancient sages and healers pointed out at the importance of a person’s mental equilibrium, which has an effect on his bodily balance, on his health.

However, then times were different, we weren’t yet so interconnected with each other and so every person individually could determine the state of his health, taking care of the balance of his internal system with nature, with the environment. Accordingly, a doctor could treat him with tinctures and other natural substances, which had a real impact.

Today, they are powerless because we have been poisoned by the environment and are on a completely different level of development of egoism. But in the past, natural remedies, consisting of the elements of the still, vegetative, and animate nature, did their work, along with the measures to maintain or restore the patient’s balance with the environment on the human level.

Nowadays, this factor barely depends on the person himself. The close ties of the “global village,” the universal interconnection, do not allow him to balance and heal himself really just by natural means. In a global world, balance depends not on one person, but on society.

Therefore, I would recommend international organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, WHO and others to take care of this problem. But they should take care properly, understanding that from time immemorial to the present day, in the end everything depends only on the balance between people, which from this degree “spreads” downwards, to the lower levels of nature and our being.
