Become Worthy of Being Called Man

935Question: Why is the nature of the Creator bestowal and love? Why did He take precisely this form and no other in relation to us?

Answer: He created an egoistic quality, according to which each of His creations wants to be filled with Him, the Creator. Such a desire is called “inanimate,” “vegetative,” or “animate.”

And if the creation wants to be filled not just in the form of inanimate, vegetative, and animate, but from the sensation of another, meaning, no longer within himself, but in another, then it is called “man.”

The Creator feels us outside of Himself. And if we reach such a state and can feel something outside of ourselves, then we will be called “Adam” (Man) – from the word “domeh” (similar to the Creator).

Approach and Attain

276.02Question: What is the right name for the force governing us: the Creator, God, thought, the upper force?

Answer: Whatever you like. Whatever is more convenient for you in each case.

Question: In the science of Kabbalah, it is written that “Bore” (the Creator) is from the words “Bo” and “Re” (come and see). Where to go and what do we see there?

Answer: The Creator is a quality that we can approach and attain. That is why we call it Bore. If you get closer to Him in qualities, then you will understand who He is, what He is, and you will be able to explore Him.

Question: In the science of Kabbalah it is said: “What we do not attain, we do not know by name.” What does it mean?

Answer: The fact is that we attain everything in our senses and not outside of them, and therefore, we cannot name anything in an objective form. We attain everything only in a limited, predetermined condition. Therefore, the Creator is called Bo-Re.

Selflessness of Actions

565.01Question: Baal HaSulam says that it is necessary to consider the Creator not as a person, but as laws of nature. It turns out that if you follow the laws of nature, you get rewarded, and if you don’t, you get blows. Can it be viewed this way?

Answer: Yes. It is not important. We must try to act all the time in such a way that we come closer to the Creator in the selflessness of our actions.

Question: Let’s say, by observing the laws of gravity, I live. And it does not matter if I understand them or not. Is it the same with the Creator? He says: “We need to connect with other people.” I comply, that’s it, I’m fine. If I do not comply, I feel bad.

Answer: No. Bad or good ,you cannot determine; otherwise, you will act in order to make yourself feel good and not bad.

Comment: In general, if I observe this law and somehow come closer to others, then I should understand that I will somewhere get some kind of reward for this although I do not see it.

My Response: It is still a reward.

Comment: But I do not see it.

My Response: It does not matter. You do not see the money in the bank either.

Comment: Yes, but I can always withdraw it.

My Response: Here too you hope that you will withdraw.

Without Thinking about a Reward

622.02Question: I have to imagine that the Creator is great, that He wants me to unite with other people. Where can I find fuel and hope that for the efforts to unite with others I will get some pleasure?

Answer: You should not hope for any pleasure. It should come precisely from the fact that through your efforts you bring contentment to the Creator.

You should simply imagine it. After all, if you really feel pleasure, then you will do everything only for the sake of it. Therefore, a person should close himself, make a restriction on himself, and not receive any pleasure from his spiritual work.

Question: But it is not clear where to get fuel for this?

Answer: You will get it, don’t worry.

Question: Are there some resources in nature that can be used?

Answer: You have no idea! They are much larger than in our world.

Comment: It is not clear what this altruistic fuel is.

My Response: It will come when you want to work without any egoistic fulfillment. You will see how many opportunities there are in the world to act without response, without fulfilling yourself, without thinking about reward, when the work itself, the action itself without any reward is a reward.

If a person is freed from thoughts about himself and starts as if exiting himself, this is the greatest pleasure.

The Hidden Potential of Man

275In each of us, in a hidden form, are all the desires that will manifest themselves on the path of personal development from this moment to the very end of correction. The question is how to reveal and realize them in practice to accelerate one’s development.

Each person is like a baby in whom vast forces of growth are hidden. Our task is to reveal these forces and internal reserves through studying Kabbalah, joining in a group and prayer, and making every effort to transfer these forces from potential to action, from concealment to revelation.

The most effective way to do this is to work in a group because it is precisely there that these hidden forces arise. At first we all existed as one system— Adam haRishon. But it was shattered and then everyone lost the entire vast arsenal of powers, properties, knowledge, and sensations belonging to the complete system of the common soul.

And now everyone is left to exist as one small separate cell of the body in which he feels only his own temporary life as separate from others. This kind of existence is called a man of this world.

However, such a life does not bring happiness. We must return to the single system of Adam haRishon and realize ourselves in it with all our might, which means to connect with everyone else. Now we are given the opportunity to connect with our friends in the ten and return to group work, which is the first stage of the reconnection of Adam’s common system.

Information genes (Reshimot) are hidden in each of us and our entire path from today to the end of correction is placed in them until the revelation of the complete system of Adam haRishon. We are obliged to realize them. And the upper light continues to act, revealing more and more shattering if we do not keep up with correcting the system ahead of time. It turns out that we are going through increasingly difficult states of shattering in this world.

But if we strive to unite, we will find that our condition is improving. The goal of all evolution is to return us to a corrected state.

Is There Really no other Way with Us?

962.7Comment: Alesya asks: “You say that it is necessary to bow your head before the Creator and say: ‘I agree.’ But how do you agree with what He is doing? It is Him who is doing this! Is it really impossible to treat us in a different way, in a kind way?”

Answer: It is possible to treat us kindly, but we do not understand. And therefore, it is necessary for the Creator in His attitude of absolute goodness toward us to forcefully, gradually introduce into His quality of absolute goodness the quality of suffering, the feeling of lack; otherwise, we do not react.

Question: There is such an expression, “Attract with kindness and push away with suffering.” You say that “attract with goodness” is not enough? Which means, we do not hear this attraction with goodness?

Answer: We do not feel it. Every day, from morning to evening, every second, we have opportunities to treat each other with kindness: to connect, unite, and try to feel a good force between us which will eventually accumulate and manifest itself as the upper force, as a quality of kindness and love.

But we do not hear it. Maybe we connect for a minute and that is it. Then we disconnect from that and again jump into all sorts of quarrels between us.

Question: And that is why you say that actions of the Creator are only to enforce?

Answer: No. He acts all the same with kindness. But in this goodness, some actions manifest themselves more and they seem to us harsh, bitter, and so on.

Question: And what is it in us that turns these acts of goodness into apparent suffering? It seems that goodness is aimed at you, but you are suffering. What is it that we have in us?

Answer: Our egoism! The Creator wants to show us every second how the egoistic quality pushes us apart and away from each other and leads to all kinds of regrets and suffering. This is clear from every second of our existence.

In general, it is terrible when you see it!

Question: So, until He gets us to the point where we see it, it will not stop?

Answer: No, of course not. We must see this evil in us and everything will immediately start to turn around.

Question: We will want to get out of it, feel this good that is directed at us after all?

Answer: You have to imagine it even before you see it. You do not have to see anything! Imagine everything that is said, and this will be enough to break away from egoism.

Question: Imagine that only a flow of good comes to us?

Answer: Yes, that there is huge egoism between us and we need to somehow overcome it and connect with each other above the egoism. This is the main work of man.

I and the Universe Are One Common Whole

707Question: What is the difference between the current distorted state and the corrected state that we have to come to?

Answer: Our current state is corrupted, temporary, and unstable. It gives us suffering every second because it forces us to come to global harmony.

Global harmony is when all parts of nature are interconnected and absolutely complement each other. Today this necessity is beginning to unfold in our world.

Therefore the difference between the present world and the world of the future is that by correcting our desires from receiving, from egoism, to bestowal and love, we begin to feel our world, our universe, and all other spiritual worlds together as one common whole absolutely connected with us. Meaning, I and all this are one common whole.

Moreover, I feel it as “I and everyone else are connected together.” No one and nothing disappears; all these objects, all the properties, desires, and thoughts just become one common whole, an interconnected, complementary, harmonious single body called Adam.

This spiritual construction, in which everything is harmoniously connected, is called the world of infinity, the world of infinite, perfect, harmonious, eternal existence. We will come to it because all the parts of this system complement each other, constantly overflow, exchange, and so on.

There is nothing that would die, be destroyed, or act at the expense of the other. Everything is based on mutual addition, the same as in a healthy body.

In the System of Common Connection

557Question: I live in this world and I am connected with other people. How much do my wrong actions influence other people’s punishments?

Answer: They do. I cannot explain how much, but they do. And their incorrect actions influence you.

Question: Let’s say I understand the laws of nature, I try to observe them, I make efforts. However, there are several billion people who consciously or unconsciously do not want to fulfill them. Do I receive punishment for them?

Answer: Of course. We are all connected into one system.

Question: What can we do in this situation?

Answer: Try to correct yourself, and others through yourself.

Question: So not to correct them, but myself?

Answer: Of course.

Question: But they exist anyway. What is the connection if I correct myself and they are not corrected?

Answer: You should pray for them.

Question: Why should there be such a responsibility?

Answer: Because it is a common system.

Comment: But all these collective punishments have seemingly outlived their usefulness. A person should be responsible for himself.

My Response: Nothing has outlived its usefulness. This system exists and will always exist. The Creator created one single Kli, desire, and this desire must reach the level of the Creator.

Efforts Are the Reward

600.01Question: Your teacher Rabash wrote that to the extent of the efforts a person makes, he receives a reward; meaning, the efforts themselves become a reward. Why?

Answer: The efforts themselves are the reward because, in principle, they come from the Creator even if it seems to a person that they are his own efforts. The measure of the efforts made determines the spiritual status of a person, the magnitude of his ascent, and his proximity to and adhesion with the Creator. That is, he defines his spirituality by it.

If the Creator requires us to make only one effort, to connect with others, then making efforts to come closer to different people whom I may even hate, this action itself will be a reward.

Question: Let’s say if a person makes an effort, then where will the pleasures from the effort come from?

Answer: From the fact that he does it for the sake of the Creator, comes closer to Him, and brings Him contentment.

Question: In this case, should the Creator and His greatness be revealed to a person?

Answer: No. If it is revealed, a person will act for the sake of revealing the greatness, for the sake of fulfillment, for the sake of his elevation.

This is concealed on purpose so that he performs all actions not according to his egoistic desire and goal, but according to the altruistic one when he does it without any reward, not wanting anything for himself.

Do We Understand what Love Is?

527.03Question: The Creator is a quality of bestowal that manifests in me. Let’s say the quality of bestowal and love has manifested in me, and I somehow show it in relation to another person?

Answer: How can you measure this quality of bestowal and love?—only in your egoism: how much you rise above it, how, and in what conditions exactly. It is all very difficult. But, in principle, the science of Kabbalah talks about this.

Comment: When we talk about love, we understand what love is.

My Response: Absolutely not! This is precisely the difference between people. Look how he understands what love is and how she understands it, and what frictions there are between them.

Comment: But there are some general principles: care, help, and so on.

My Response: In general, everyone agrees with this. And when you begin to enter into more practical and more detailed definitions, then there is already a problem because we are all different. There are no people similar to each other.

We cannot compare our impressions, measure our feelings, and actually determine who of us is who relative to the other.
