A Person Is An Imprint Of The Surrounding Society

423.02

Find yourself and be yourself: Remember, there is no one else like you on Earth like you (Dale Carnegie).

Comment: But we spend our whole life fulfilling desires imposed on us from the outside. For the most part, we are not ourselves.

My Response: We, like little children, are constantly learning from others. Look at a little child. He constantly learns from adults and imitates them. You can call, let’s say, a cup by some other word, and he will repeat it after you and get used to this name.

If you teach him an action, he will try to repeat it. Then this habit will enter into his nature. He will instinctively prefer this action to others, even ones that are more reasonable and useful, because habit becomes second nature and by fulfilling its desires, he will enjoy it.

Therefore, we are all an imprint of the surrounding society and none of us is ourselves

Question: Isn’t it time for us to be ourselves? When can this happen?

Answer: Today there is already such a desire, but still in a small number of people who are beginning to ask themselves about the purpose of existence, about the seeming purposelessness of this world. Millions of people in the world are asking this question, but millions are not billions.

What The Science Of Kabbalah Reveals

226Question: Why do you always say that Kabbalah gives a person an answer to what is the meaning of life and other methods do not?

Answer: Because it raises a person to the level of clear, explicit comprehension of both the question of the meaning of existence and the answer to it in this life. It reveals to a person the line between the present life and life after death; it pushes this border, and the person continues to see his existence beyond the border of animal death.

Question: Can this also be fantasy?

Answer: No, this is not fantasy.

This is the same fantasy as our life today. Exactly in the form in which we perceive it, we also clearly perceive what Kabbalah reveals.

Since Kabbalah reveals the upper world to us and gives us the whole perspective of the transition from this world to the spiritual one, i.e., a perspective of transformation, development, correction, and elevation, then we can talk about the next stage as reasonably, clearly, and scientifically as we can talk about our life.

Is It Necessary To Experience The Risk Of Losing Life?

963.6

It is solely by risking life that freedom is obtained; . . . the individual who has not staked his or her life may, no doubt, be recognized as a person; but he or she has not attained the truth of this recognition as an independent self-consciousness (Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel).

Question: Is Hegel correct that if a person did not risk his life in war, for example, he does not have a normal self-consciousness; he is not advanced by evolution? Is it necessary to feel the risk of losing one’s life in order to come to self-knowledge?

Answer: The risk of the loss of life must be felt. But in the name of what? What do we mean by life, by understanding the loss of life? This all needs to be well grasped. Otherwise, these are beautiful empty words.

The animalistic fear of losing one’s life, in principle, does not give anything. All animals have it. And here, it means something that lifts us higher.

Question: What does it mean to a Kabbalist “to lose life”?

Answer: To lose life means to lose connection with the property of bestowal and love, with the Creator.

Let Us Learn In Order Not To Make Mistakes

202.0Everyone has their own program of development, according to which they are advancing. No person who was born can understand where he ended up, why he was born with such qualities, in such a family, at such a time, and in such conditions.

Then he grows and develops. As far as souls are concerned, this corporeal development leads to the question of the meaning of life, and then a person comes to the wisdom of Kabbalah, and receives the opportunity to develop further, beyond the boundaries of corporeality.

If a person declines the opportunity given to him to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, he continues his animalistic development. If he accepts the wisdom of Kabbalah, but uses it incorrectly, he will be moving in circles until he corrects his approach.

Nowadays, however, it is no longer possible for a person to develop in all possible directions, the way it was in the past. After all, back then, the development of humanity happened widely in all directions. Today it is narrowing more and more, focusing more and more precisely on the purpose of creation.

In our time there are not many people in the world who want to found some new religion or their own school of philosophy. Humanity has already gone through all these fantasies. The time has come for more practical exercises that allow us to discover methods of correcting a person in order to bring him in line with the correction of the world.

A person receives thoughts and desires all the time from above, from his purpose of creation, that is, from the point where he should be in the common soul. From there, he constantly receives all kinds of discernments in his mind and heart, in his feelings and in his reason, which each time guide him in life, that is, that return and push him to that very end point.

If he tries to use his chance and finds the right environment, he can develop quickly and successfully. If not, he will wander and get confused on the way for a long time, but in the end, he will still reach the goal.

Everyone will eventually reach the goal. The only question is how long will we have to wander, that is, how many cycles of life will it take and how much suffering, in order to eventually understand that there is no choice in this life, except to approach the purpose of creation.

We are inside a solid, correctly organized system, but it leaves us some degree of freedom and allow us to make mistakes in order to learn from them or to learn in order not to make mistakes.

In The System Of Interconnection Of Souls

200.04

There are situations in a person’s life when life itself seems to tell him that there is a certain program that determines everything and that he has no control over it.

Each of us can remember such perceived incidents. Sometimes we even know in advance what will happen and suddenly a greater vision opens up to us. It is natural. We are all a little bit like Wolf Messing in some way.

The question is: Where does this lead us? As a rule, this leads nowhere. A person simply continues to live; he was only shown some small fragment of the future and he does not know what to do with it.

In principle, for a person it does not fundamentally solve anything. It is just that a fragment of the future is revealed from the general system of our corporeality, but concealed from us are the spiritual relationships by which we are rigidly connected with each other.

We are in a network of connection that functions in an absolutely rigid and constant manner. Each of us has absolutely no freedom to do anything within it. In this network, everyone goes through all sorts of sensations of himself, which are perceived as in this world, or that world, and so on. But nevertheless, we are always in the same system of interconnection of souls, of our “I”s.

If this system opens up a little, then we can perhaps see the relationship between the two layers, between the layer that should happen and the level at which we each are today. It seems to be an accidental phenomenon, since the person did not see anything in advance.

Of course there is nothing accidental in our life. Everything is absolutely determined.

But what did this lead to? Perhaps one began to behave differently or more correctly, more sensitively, and became warmer toward people. Or in one’s profession he made some changes for good. But in principle, he did not change anything fundamentally.

As a result, we see that throughout the history of humanity all prophetic dreams, insights, slanders, and predictions of clairvoyants do not lead us to anything. There were always a lot of them and they exist now and they will in the future.

Only if we reveal to a person a clear methodology for attaining the entire system of the universe, our connection with each other, the course of life, and the future goal, when this is revealed to us and we are given the opportunity to explore, to confirm, and most importantly, to control our destiny, then we can already say that a person has really been given some kind of tool to control it.

Otherwise, the future should not be revealed. That is why Kabbalists never talk about it. They believe that it is harmful to humanity.

There is a rule: do not place obstacles before a blind man. That is, only to the extent that a person can correctly understand the future, that it can be brought closer to himself to work correctly on its implementation, then it can be revealed to a person, and he will begin to correct it.

Go Beyond Death

131The question about the meaning of life is the next degree in human development. We must go beyond death, so that it is not an obstacle for us, and begin to perceive the world higher, bigger, wider, and beyond our material sense organs.

Question: Does only a Kabbalist possess this knowledge?

Answer: No. Kabbalah is simply a technique for expanding our senses beyond what the body feels. Then we begin to talk about what we attain, about the boundary that we remove from ourselves.

Right now this boundary is limited by the existence of my body. If I begin to move this boundary further, then I include into my range of feelings an additional existence, an additional world. I explore it, I live in it, I communicate, I treat it the same way as I treat our world.

And then the question of the meaning of life disappears from me. I begin to understand that it is in its perpetual continuation beyond the limits of the current existence in this tiny volume.

You Need To Hurry Without Haste

538Question: There is a World Slow Day that was invented by the Italians. Now it is celebrated in 90 countries around the world, including in Paris, London, and Washington. The president of The Art of Living Slowly, notes that, “‘It’s an occasion to take a little time for yourself and remember that if we’re always rushing, we end up taking the wrong road.” The day promotes slowing down to live better.

How do you feel about living so leisurely?

Answer: It depends on the people and not on whether or not to introduce a holiday.

Question: Can I get under this stream?

Answer: Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. The influence of the environment on a person is well studied.

Question: What is a leisurely life for you?

Answer: I already think that I live slowly. Nobody drives me anywhere; I’m my own boss. The only thing is that I still have responsibility for thousands of people.

Question: And does the slowness immediately disappear at this moment?

Answer: It is already changing its form, even its function and its content. It turns into a leisurely responsibility. This means that I must not rush, but at the same time understand that I cannot just stop and allow myself to think and rest as much as I want. I have to take into account those people who somehow depend on me.

Question: And the rigid life schedule remains?

Answer: Yes! It’s above everything. I believe that slowness is when a person has everything correctly distributed. It can be at great speed. That is, the whole day is absolutely filled, but he knows what he must do this at every moment of time, and he fully relies, if necessary, on his extraneous forces. And so he relates to life as the implementation of mandatory procedures.

Question: Tell me, please, should an ordinary person live leisurely?

Answer: Any person is obliged to live slowly; that is, he is obliged to make his life, the lives of those around him, the life of the country, the state, and the world such that it obeys a very clear understanding of the goal and the steps to achieve it.

Question: What goal should such a leisurely person strive for?

Answer: To achieve true slowness because any haste leads to incredibly undesirable results: a person immediately instantly limits his analytical abilities and decisions and slides into haste and makes irrational decisions.

Question: What specific goal should a person set?

Answer: To constantly be at a certain pace, like a train: move, move, move, without slowing down or adding speed. All the time. This is the right attitude toward life.

Question: What is your goal as a leisurely person?

Answer: To achieve the maximum possible disclosure of the Creator for me, the maximum possible dissemination of the science of Kabbalah, and the maximum possible distribution of this knowledge among my students. That’s pretty much my goal.

Question: What about an ordinary person?

Answer: I think that in principle, everyone should gradually approach these same questions. And then for an ordinary person the goal will be to achieve a correct understanding of life and the world.

Question: What is it?

Answer: To reveal it. And that’s it. That is, when the disclosure of life and the world coincide with the desires of a person, with his goal and what he realizes.

Question: What is a person led to?

Answer: To reveal the inner force of the world that created our world, that created us, that controls everything, why, how it does it, and how I can work with it on this together.

Question: That is, to become an accomplice in this process?

Answer: Become an accomplice in this whole thing. It’s to be an accomplice.

What Does Nature Push Us To?

962.2The question of the purpose of life arises in a person because nature pushes us to this, its program, according to which, we must develop until we comprehend the entire volume of the universe and feel the framework of a common world that goes beyond this world, to wherever we feel ourselves today only in our animal hypostasis.

Today we are made up of inanimate, plant, and animal matter. And we have to go one step further.

We are just animals. As long as I exist, my physical body exists. That is, my “I” is included in this animal and lives in it.

And how can I pull this “I” up from my animal state and make it develop individually, separately from my animal, independently of it, so that even if this animal dies, my “I” remains? How can I tear off this “I” so that it exists independently? This, in principle, is the idea of Kabbalah because in this case we have something to live for.

To tear off your “I” means to rise above your animal state so that it does not prevent you from existing independently. In our world, all sorts of theories have long been developed about how to suppress the body, practically kill it, destroy it with all sorts of suffering, torture, hunger strikes, meditations, etc.

Kabbalah is a special technique based on the fact that a person, along with this life and together with this body, must begin to feel a still and vast world in which his “I” exists above his body, independently of it.

The Meaning Of Life: The Question That Cannot Be Avoided
Questions About The Creator

Freud Had No Idea

559Comment: The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud argued that if a person asks about the meaning of life, it is a mental illness.

My Response: From the point of view of a psychoanalyst he is right because a person should live normally and peacefully in his animalistic state. Children, spouse, work, nature, this world, everything is created so that one would find their place in it.

All our impulses, good and not so good ones, both high and low, in principle, should arrange the world that surrounds a person. He must find himself in all this and balance it with all his flaws and opportunities in the environment, in the place, and in the era in which he lives.

Freud was coming from the fact that a person in our world, in general, is self-sufficient. The entire environment around him is designed by the Creator so that a person can reach the right rapport with himself, with nature, and with his inner self.

From Freud’s point of view, everything closes within the framework of our world and there is no need to look for anything else.

On one hand, he was right. Humanity has been moving in this direction for tens of thousands of years since we climbed down from the trees and began to develop as humans. In this regard, we have always found new horizons of development, new motivations in our world. Each generation set itself new tasks and new solutions for them.

In each generation, there was a constant reevaluation of values. Even in ancient Greek writings it was said that our world is not the same as it was before: everyone strives for freedom, children do not listen to their parents. That is, everything moves, everything changes.

Freud had no idea that the world would reach a state where even the most ordinary people would have a question about the meaning of life from within. He believed that a simple person acting within the framework of our world was self-sufficient.

Comment: I imagine the state of a person in whom the question of the meaning of life awakens. He may not always even realize what kind of question it is.

My Response: But this is already a post-Freudian person.

How To Get An Answer To The Question Regarding The Meaning Of Life?

202When a person wonders about the meaning of life and shares his concerns with his friends, they often do not understand him at all and ask: “What is wrong with you? What do you want?” This is what we see in the world today.

Usually such people turn to a psychoanalyst, who says: “You are depressed, you have questions to which, in principle, there are no answers. This is some kind of disorder.” A normal person should live within the framework of our world and find his fulfillment and satisfaction in it.

He must accept this life as a normal human existence. And although we have a question about death, we sense it just like animals do, but we understand its inevitability and nevertheless exist.

During the Soviet era, we were diligently taught that nature is infinite, eternal, perfect, and we gradually have to reach maximum harmony in order to live happily, safely, joyfully, beautifully, and comfortably, meaning that our animal existence should be very good, comfortable, nice, and that’s it.

Comment: The famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud believed that a normal person should not question the meaning of life.

My Response: He was right, because there is no answer to this question. And if it remains unanswered, then it arises from some painful conditions that are unnatural for us. Therefore, it is considered unhealthy.

It is the question about the meaning of life, about deep otherworldly states, where did I come from, and what is it that exists there?

Such questions lead humanity to very unreasonable actions, religious wars, all kinds of misconceptions, and thousands of all sorts of paradigms, and we do not know what to do with them.

There are various ramifications that emerge and the separation of mankind according to approaches to life and death. People who invent all sorts of rituals, religions, methods, and beliefs profit from this. And all this spins around the question of death and the meaning of life.

Therefore, Freud offers a very simple solution. We exist within sensible limits, and outside of them, we have no understanding, no feeling, no solutions whatsoever. Therefore, everything that arises outside of this frame is the fruit of our imagination. Let’s not touch it, it always leads us to suffering. Let’s lock ourselves within the framework of our world, and we will live for ourselves and the future generation.

In the same way the Soviet government once brought us up very simply and very primitively. By the way, the very first societies at the dawn of mankind were communist. Meaning, we live for ourselves and for our children. That is all. And in this we find our satisfaction, fulfillment, and happiness.

Question: Is the science of Kabbalah engaged in what gives a person the answer to the question about the meaning of life?

Answer: Kabbalah is engaged in first raising a person to the level of this question and then giving an answer to it. But if a person does not want to delve into it, if he does not have the motivation to do so, Kabbalah does not come to him.

And even if a person begins to be interested in revealing this question through Kabbalah, it does not immediately give him an answer. It is like it is telling him: “You have to develop yourself to the point where you are aware of this question yourself, and then you will gradually begin to reveal the answer to it.”
