Life In An Aquarium

laitman_928Question: The picture that you draw is depressing and even angers me. Is it really so, that all of my perception of the world is absolutely subjective and limited by my sensations?

Answer: Why does the perception of our world depress you? If we look at a fish in an aquarium, it lives calmly. For him, this aquarium, the water, and everything in it is his life.

A fish wants to live and take care of itself; it is satisfied with life in an aquarium. This is because it is important to it for there to be water saturated with oxygen and food. And it doesn’t want anything more.

The aquarium is his world. The fish doesn’t know what is to be found and what exists outside of the aquarium. That is how we also live in this world, in such an aquarium without knowing what is happening outside of it. The wisdom of Kabbalah is a science about the perception of reality that makes it possible for a person to expand his horizons.

Question: But the life of a fish in an aquarium doesn’t anger him. Why are we worried about what is found behind its walls?

Answer: This is because we have been chosen from all people to be born and develop such a desire that goes outside of the aquarium. We want to go out of the aquarium and discover what exists outside of it. This is a new desire that is irrelevant to a person in this world. It already belongs to the next level that is outside of our bodies; and that is what we need to explore.

I feel that I must discover what is concealed there, behind the glass of the aquarium. This life within the aquarium chokes me and I feel as if I am in a prison. I would prefer to die than to live a life like this because my desire is much greater than what can be fulfilled in this world.

I want to get knowledge and a feeling of a wider reality, of the outside world. And so I feel myself in this world as if I am locked in a dungeon or buried alive. Even though I am alive, I feel as if I am in a narrow coffin and am trying to break out of it.

There are people for whom life in an aquarium is absolutely enough for them; they are 99% of all of humanity.

Question: But aren’t all people dissatisfied about something?

Answer: They are dissatisfied that food wasn’t put into the aquarium on time and that the pump supplies oxygen poorly. Their desire is not developed beyond this. But there are people whose desire is much greater and they want to discover what is found beyond the limits of the aquarium.

Kabbalah And Jungian Psychology

laitman_205Question: I have found many answers to questions and an understanding and awareness of the world in Jungian psychology. Is there a connection between the wisdom of Kabbalah and psychology?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah and materialistic psychology are closely linked. But the idea is that psychology is involved with investigating the psychology of an animal called the “human.”

For every beast—a horse, an ape or an elephant—has its own behavioral psychology and so forth. So it is possible to learn the psychology of the human as a beast through the works of Jung and the rest of the scientists, because they investigate ordinary human nature.

But if you want to learn the psychology of the soul, then ordinary psychology won’t help you; it won’t be enough. Scientific psychologists cannot investigate it because they haven’t attained their own soul. Here the wisdom of Kabbalah is required.

Those who come to the wisdom of Kabbalah are people who feel that they must attain the meaning of life. But if ordinary psychology is enough for you, be involved with that; that’s your business.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is required for someone who cannot live without a clear answer to the question: “What am living for?”  But if this question doesn’t burn in you, then you can be involved with whatever you want. We don’t invite people who are involved with something else to us.

If we are talking about human behavior in our world, then this is ordinary materialistic psychology. It is correct and justified in the framework of our daily behavior and it investigates people and society with the help of our materialistic characteristics, and after that it is recorded and compiled into an entire method.

But if we want to investigate human behavior that rises above its egoistic characteristics, then psychology becomes the wisdom of Kabbalah there, because a person must change receptive characteristics into the characteristics of bestowal, transforming egoism into altruism, feeling himself exiting the egoistic body. And if he investigates these states and records them, then for him the result is a psychology called the “wisdom of Kabbalah.”

He will record this in the form of Aviut (the depth of the desire), Sefirot, worlds, and levels. Precise knowledge will appear in him about how his actions change according to his ascent above the ego, from connection with others and so forth. This will be a science based upon a revision, a precise perception of reality. Everything that we investigate in ordinary science we can investigate in this higher psychology called the “wisdom of Kabbalah.”

But the wisdom of Kabbalah is not at all involved with the behavior of an ordinary person in our world. Materialistic psychology is involved with this. That is its use. Before a person discovers the upper world, where he feels his altruistic desire, we are dealing with psychology.

And from that moment on, we are involved with the wisdom of Kabbalah. So Jung and all the rest of the psychologists were interested only in the level of our world. And they don’t exist above it.

Everything Is Predetermined

laitman_746_01In the News (from The Wall Street Journal): “As factors continued to be discovered, the number of possible planets hit zero, and kept going. In other words, the odds turned against any planet in the universe supporting life, including this one. Probability said that even we shouldn’t be here.

“Today there are more than 200 known parameters necessary for a planet to support life—every single one of which must be perfectly met, or the whole thing falls apart. Without a massive planet like Jupiter nearby, whose gravity will draw away asteroids, a thousand times as many would hit Earth’s surface. The odds against life in the universe are simply astonishing.

“Yet here we are, not only existing, but talking about existing. What can account for it? Can every one of those many parameters have been perfect by accident?… For example, astrophysicists now know that the values of the four fundamental forces—gravity, the electromagnetic force, and the “strong” and “weak” nuclear forces—were determined less than one millionth of a second after the big bang. Alter any one value and the universe could not exist.”

My Comment: The existence of a higher intelligence with the plan of creation, predestination, and the system of control of creation does not deny the existence of freewill in the created beings. Kabbalah reveals the nature of the Creator and everything that was created by Him in order to enable every person to reach the peak of knowledge, eternity, and perfection of existence.

laitman_739Question: Why does the wisdom of Kabbalah explore all the laws of nature by bringing a person inside the study as one of the parameters and trying to understand it through the entire universe?

Answer: Do we have any other opportunity to study and possibly exit our skin, our body? The whole picture of the world appears inside my feelings only. And if I disappear, then this picture will disappear in relation to me.

This world exists without me, and if so, does it exist in a way I see it or in some other form, in different wavelengths; that I cannot say. I still perceive everything only from my body.

Question: How does a Kabbalist see the world?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is the science of “reception” (Kabbalah), so a Kabbalist explores one’s perceptions of reality. Due to certain actions, one begins to change oneself and explores how, depending on the internal changes, one’s worldview varies as well.

A Kabbalist changes one’s internal properties, the form of desire, perception of, and communication with what is happening outside in the surrounding reality. A person begins to work with one’s desires and connection with external reality in such a way where new worlds will be built upon this.

Now we feel we are in a huge world that contains many different objects and phenomena. A person who begins to actively work with one’s desire, builds a new world upon it, a new reality.

A person remains living in a physical body and still perceives an earthly picture of the world in the five physical senses. This picture is constant, as the necessary foundation. But in addition to it, the Kabbalist creates five new senses with which one feels an additional world. A Kabbalist sees this world, feels it, works with it, and lives in it, in addition to the body that exists in the five physical senses.

This additional sense is called the higher or spiritual world. And the old perception through the five physical senses in which a person existed before and remained there is called this or our world.

If there are other people who also have this perception in five additional “out of body” spiritual senses, they can communicate with each other.

Question: If I were able to realize that the whole picture of the world is perceived by me, according to my internal properties, would it be able to open many new phenomena for me?

Answer: First of all, we must agree that all perception depends on a person, on an observer. And if there were no people, no one would reveal the existence of the reality of this universe. It exists only in our perception.

It did not exist before humans appeared on earth and found it. After all, it is apparent only in relation to a person. For example, ten years ago I discovered that the universe emerged fourteen billion years ago. But in fact it is me that perceives this reality in my mind versus this reality existing objectively in such boundaries of time and space. All of this is relative and exists only in a person.

From The Last Exile To The Last Redemption

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah, “Leviticus” 20:1 – 20:5: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, and to the children of Israel, you shall say: Any man of the children of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall pelt him with stones. And I will set My attention upon that man, and I will cut him off from amidst his people, because he gave of his offspring to Molech in order to defile My holy ones and to profane My holy Name. But if the people of the land ignore that man when he gives of his offspring to Molech, not putting him to death. I will set My attention upon that man, and upon his family, and I will cut him off, and all who stray after him to stray after Molech, from amidst their people.

A son is our next state. “…who gives any of his offspring to Molech,” means giving it to the ego, which means to allow my next states to develop in the egoistic direction.

Therefore, the prohibition of giving one’s offspring to Molech means that in the current state, you have to prepare your next state so as to focus yourself absolutely clearly and guaranteed to be in the right direction. But if you are wrong and your next level falls into the ego, it is your problem and not the problem of your offspring, of the next state.

Thus, all the responsibility lies on the shoulders of the previous level that prepared itself incorrectly for the ascent, which means that the father is responsible and not the son. When a person is born, he is nothing. What you fill him with—the plans, attributes, qualities, and values—is what he will be.

It says that if people are forgiving with regard to a person who had given his offspring to Molech, the Creator would cut him off and all that go astray after him. This means that if most people believe that in their next states it is preferable to descend into our world, it will be necessary to raise all the desires anew and to correct them. This is very serious work with heavy losses.

This has previously happened in our history and now we are actually in the same state of having fallen from the spiritual path, which is called “giving your offspring to Molech,” and should rise from this fall once again, which means to rise from the last exile to the last redemption.

A Secret Covenant With The Higher Power, Part 1

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How did the nation of Israel arise, where is it going, and what potential, which has not been realized, is inherent in it? If we understand this, then we might reach a completely different state, instead of experiencing all of today’s problems.

To understand this, we need to return to the events of more than two thousand years ago at the time when the Jewish people were in the land of Israel and hadn’t gone into exile yet. Many associate something mystical with theses people and believe that they have a secret connection with the upper force, a union. What is it really about?

Answer: We are talking about a group of people who united according to their desire to understand the essence and meaning of life: What are we living for and who governs us? That is, they were concerned with the questions of the very essence of life. That is why they united around Abraham who was the sage that lived at that time in ancient Babylon and began to teach them how to answer these questions.

In material terms, life in ancient Babylon was quite comfortable because a person lacked nothing on the still, vegetative, and animate levels. That is, the body felt well and pleasant. The only problem was in the Tower of Babel, which rose to the heavens. It was necessary to find out what they lived for and why, where the source of life was, and who managed it. That is, they wanted to know their Creator.

Abraham taught them that it was possible to do this. After all, their life fell apart for this purpose. People became estranged, distanced from each other, and no longer understood each other. But those who felt the urgent need to solve the mystery of life joined Abraham. He was a famous Babylonian sage and came from a prominent family. His father Terah was a Babylonian high priest.

Abraham taught them how to understand the force that controls nature: the force of love and bestowal. This force is opposite to the egoistic force of the still nature, of plants, animals, and people of this world, and therefore it created us in the opposite form, which is reception and hatred. This is what was manifested in them in Babylon in order to oblige them to reveal something contrary, the opposite force.

Abraham taught how it was possible to correct oneself and obtain this force in addition to that which we already possess by nature. This force does not exist in our world because our world is entirely sustained by reception and hatred. That is why, in order to acquire this opposite force of love and bestowal, we need a complete science.

The force of love is the upper force. How can we bring it closer, want it so that it is revealed to us, begin to live within it, and how can we start using this force?

If it is a force hidden in nature, then maybe we will be able to catch it through question about the meaning of our life, about what controls it. Through these questions, which in essence, any person asks, but does not delve into, we can begin to become acquainted with the upper force.

Forbidden Question

We Must Embrace Nature In Order To Move Forward

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe early elections in Israel are accompanied by a serious crisis of confidence between the public and its elected representatives. It is no accident that one of the headlines in the newspapers was “The Knesset has Dissolved.” Yet the members of the Knesset voted for dissolution because they understood that the confidence of the public has dropped in recent years.

The public feels that politicians are cut off from them and this arouses disappointment, especially among young people. Many don’t see a reason for going to vote because they don’t expect any change for the better. Few think that the elections will truly help us solve the issues of housing, the cost of living, social relations, and security.

When people hear the campaign promises, they know that immediately after the elections everyone will forget about them until the next election. All we have left is a feeling of bitterness due to the lack of the ability to influence anything. Even the [Israeli] president recently expressed his concern about people not not going out to vote.

Clearly, a lack of faith in the leadership of the nation and the party that is elected undermines the foundations of democracy and has serious consequences. In the last decade, this phenomenon has spread among many nations in the West. And accordingly, fewer and fewer citizens go to the polls to vote, with the percentage of voters going down by double digits, which is a significant change.

Question: How did we arrive at a situation like this?

Answer: First of all, we must understand that the development of the world is subject to a particular program. Even though we are not aware of it, the course of history indicates this.

Sure, there were prominent figures like Napoleon, Lenin, Hitler, and Einstein who contributed greatly to history. That is, there are people through whom this program has been revealed in the world. But in general, the program continues to work, and it makes no difference who sits in Congress, in the Duma, in the Knesset, in the Majlis, or any other elected parliament.

After all, we are within a system called nature, and to the degree that we investigate it, we discover a rigid immutable law, without any concessions to anyone no matter how much one is sorry or concerned. Ultimately, nature relates simply to the levels of the still, vegetative, animate, and human, and has activated them to bring about a specific purpose from the beginning of creation until its end.

So when we choose people like these or others, it is up to us to understand that, in fact, this doesn’t change the program of nature. Rather what is important is how much these people understand the general program of nature and know how to bring the society to accord with it. This is precisely the place to introduce change, to transform our lives to become easier and more pleasant. This is because if we accommodate ourselves to this program, we will have fewer troubles.

But on the other hand, if we don’t understand the program, or even deny its existence, we will always stumble across unpleasant phenomena. And it is no wonder. Can we go against nature? Because of our lack of knowledge, we try to go against it, and we decided to build Communism and are quick to perform social experiments, but all these steps must be derived from nature. Without recognition of its laws, we are almost surely wrong in all of our activities. As a result, we waste a lot of energy, money, and resources, and, in spite of it all, we cannot realize our programs because they are not adjusted to the program of nature.

Question: What happens when we go against nature?

Answer: We find ourselves in trouble. For example, the politicians suggest completely contradictory solutions and one doesn’t listen to the other, leading us to a crisis. This is not to say that the elected public officials don’t want to or cannot help, but that they don’t bring their programs into coordination with the program of nature. This is particularly so in our time. For in the last 30 to 50 years, humanity has gradually reached a state in which it must intentionally and independently participate in its development. It is up to a person to be aware of the program of nature, to investigate it, and accordingly organize himself and society.

For thousands of years and up until the last half of the previous century, nature didn’t ask us how we wanted to develop and didn’t obligate us to develop according to its goal from an understanding of the program and its purpose. Rather, we were like a herd that advances with the help of blows, problems and pressures of various kinds like natural disasters, wars, social conflicts, the high cost of living, unemployment, family problems, and so forth.

But now we have reached a situation in which we must rise to the level of Adam (Man), who is a creature whose head begins to be similar to the program of nature. He begins to understand and attain creation, and from beginning to end, he sees the causes and effects and the possibility of proper participation in a process that runs through nature. Otherwise, this process will pass over us like a steamroller, “in its time,” and we will have no escape.

Therefore, it is up to us to learn the program and advance through the way of “I will hasten it,” and accordingly we take proactive measures.

This means that we ourselves will change, reaching a level in which we understand what nature demands from us. Then, according to the pressures of nature, we will respond immediately, time after time, and advance in a harmonious embrace with it.

In principle, this approach has been relevant since the end of the 19th century, but from the middle of the previous century, it was necessary and in the last 20 to 30 years, it has become obvious.

As a citizen, who can I vote for? Can I rely on someone when I see that the ritual of elections in the world brings nothing but new problems? Every leader promises that he is ready to help people in every way possible. Let’s say this is right, and he is truly ready, but he doesn’t know how to do it.

So advancement will be in a particular direction that is independent of the prime minister or some president whom we curse. The crisis of confidence among the people towards their leaders is a natural phenomenon. And the problem is not in the leaders themselves. Even if they were truly committed to the people and their welfare, their plans still aren’t feasible.

There is only one way to succeed, and that is if leaders and the people will learn the essence of the question: towards what are we advancing under the pressure of nature? Then we would understand that it could be that it is not worthwhile for us to fight directly against the cost of living, the deterioration of education, the crisis in the family, and against corruption. It could be that we find a solution on an absolutely different plane. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, in such a , we would solely and only take care of the social issue.

Even today in the parties and in many organizations social issues are their top priority. But even if they understand that the leverage found here possesses immense potential, where can they find how to activate it? This is possible only if we open nature up and investigate it deeply.

So, even someone who wants to make changes for the better doesn’t succeed. As usual, the intentions are good, but the actions and their results are the opposite. We see this in regard to the last term of the government. A number of ministers were determined to succeed, but at the end, they entered into such great crisis that today all of the people ridicule and despise them.

The time has come for the people to understand the reason for the despair, why they despise their leaders and why there is a crisis of confidence in those who represent the people. We are already approaching this understanding.

For this, people must know what is really happening. It is up to them to understand that it is not right to punish and reject the politicians who sit in the Knesset, in the government, and in the various organizations. First of all, it is up to us to go back to school and learn the program of nature.

Humanity, and in particular the people of Israel, is entering into a new era. Today we must understand how nature is leading us and toward what goal. What is the shape, pattern, and model that our society must accept; how do we adapt ourselves to it, and accordingly, how must society change year after year?

We will change society ourselves and not through the blows of nature. In today’s situation, people must purposefully participate in these changes.

There is no escaping this. We cannot be released from this burden by holding the leaders and elected representatives accountable. None of them are ready for this task. First of all, it is up to us to learn what nature requires from us. There are people who call this force the divine or higher power because it is higher than us. This is because if a tsunami were to come, it would be beyond our abilities to deal with it. In other words, it is up to us to know how to behave in regard to it.

Our goal is to begin to learn, understand, and become familiar with the situation. This belongs to the officials elected by the people and those who elected them. We will then see which of us are ready to connect. Indeed, studies show that we need to connect “as one person with one heart” and not divide into many camps that devour one another.

There must be a completely opposite trend and a new perception that inspires people who are ready to correctly answer the questions that nature presents to us. In fact, all of the questions that nature places before us are solved through connection.

But if we continue to act according to the old methods, we can expect many more difficult problems than before. For the process is moving forward, and if we still have not adapted to the program of nature, we will endure much more suffering.

Don’t Be Afraid To Start A New Life In the New Year!

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How does one finally start a new life in January 2015, the life which we postpone year after year?

Answer: We have our television channel that we sustain with our own money, without receiving help from other sources. I strongly recommend that in this New Year, everyone tune in to [Israeli] Channel 66 and start watching and listening to it.

In this way, you will gradually enter a new world. You will discover how to reverse your life to one that is safer, kinder, gentler, and will begin to understand where you exist. If you begin to engage in serious study, then you truly will be able to reach new heights. It is possible for each one to achieve it.

In many cities there are branches of the Bnei Baruch Education Center, which provides Kabbalah courses for anyone that wants them. Through the Internet, it is possible to study virtually and connect with others. We also organize meetings, conventions, and conferences here and around the world.

Comment: Please give us advice on how to achieve happiness in 2015.

Answer: Let’s create a bond between us. Start to learn about what the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks of. It is the most ancient wisdom that comes to us from Babylon. Its founder, Abraham created the Jewish nation by uniting people around the wisdom of Kabbalah. This wisdom clarifies the foundation and general outline of man’s nature.

Read my article “Who Are You, People of Israel?” published in The New York Times on September 20, 2014. The article addresses the sources of anti-Semitism, what is happening today in the world, where are we from, etc. Begin by reading these small pieces.

When you are ready, I will be waiting for you in our center in Petach Tikva where I give lessons for beginners. It might be that we will meet in another city, since we have many students all over Israel.

Let’s become acquainted, let’s do it, and in spite of the results of the election, the year 2015 and the following years will be years of peace and good.

A Required Occupation That Is Controlled By Destiny

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Some people get tattoos of the three-letter holy names because they suppose that each name has its own unique power. Is this effective? Has the person written a “recipe” for success for himself?

Answer: How will it help your life if you write a recipe with three ingredients on yourself, for example: ten grams of salt, five grams of pepper, and a liter of water? You have to bake the cake and not just write the recipe.

This recipe must be made by taking powers from the soul, finding out what water, salt, spices, flour, and yeast are—all the ingredients needed for preparing a cake. They must be found inside, joined correctly, and thoroughly blended.

And while you are preparing this concoction, you don’t see anything good in it since you need to put it in the oven, and this is not simple process! Only after you put this unpretentious concoction in the oven will it begin to rise to a beautiful cake. And then you can cover with honey or whipped cream.

Question: Have I understood correctly, that this is not just talking about a tattoo, but about ritualistic ornaments and pictures on the wall? If I don’t prepare my cake myself, then none of the various magical accessories will help me? But didn’t they come from the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: It is constructed in people’s perception this way. It is like buying someone else’s diploma. A friend finishes school, he gets a diploma, and you photograph it, write your name on it, and hang it on the wall. Will this help you?

You cannot go to a university and become an expert with this diploma. You are only deceiving yourself that you have something.

Question: How can Kabbalah truly help me to change my destiny?

Answer: First of all, if you want to change your destiny, it is up to you to learn. No unique skills are required for this. It is written: “It is not the wise who learns.” This is for everyone. If is his destiny, he must study Kabbalah!

We have reached a situation in this generation where everyone must learn to change their destiny. It is impossible to escape from this. If you flee, then you will get caught by the ear, with the help of the police and the courts, and you will be sat down at the study table.

Laitman_083Question: What should I do if I want to change my destiny through the wisdom of Kabbalah? Should I ask this of the Kabbalists who possess such forces?

Answer: First of all, you, yourself, need to learn the wisdom of Kabbalah. A person comes to Kabbalah because he wants to learn about his destiny.

Question: If a person studies Kabbalah, does he get the force to change his fate?

Answer: Of course, not immediately, but over time, he will be able to do this. He studies in order to do this.

Question: And, if I ask another Kabbalist to change my destiny, will he be able to do this?

Answer: No, it is impossible. You need to learn how to change your destiny. A Kabbalist can influence his own destiny but not someone else’s. After all, everyone has to change his own destiny by his own correction.

For this, we exist in this world in order to achieve the desired state by going through all the intermediate stages in our development. We go through this process of development like a child at school who must study. He still will learn, either forced by the rod, constantly getting punishment, or he will be become smarter, will do his homework and graduate with distinction, feeling everyone’s love and enjoying life.

We can conclude from this example that we need to know our entire personal program, as well as the general one, what desired form we need to achieve. Whether we like it or not, we will be obliged to come to it as defined in our destiny.

The fate descends to us from above, like to a child who is not asked whether he wants to go to school or not. He must enter it since there is the law of universal secondary education. However, it is up to you how you will study personally. If you are smart and realize that there is no choice and that you must complete high school, then you try to learn what is required from you at every stage. You try to do all that is necessary, but in the most convenient form.

Alternatively, you might even shorten your time of studying and graduate ahead of time, in seven or eight years instead of ten.

Question: So, the person, himself, must examine the overall program and then will be able to integrate in it better, and if I ask the blessing of a great Kabbalist, how will it affect my life?

Answer: It has only a psychological effect. A Kabbalist cannot affect your destiny, either in a good or a bad direction. After all, he cannot deprive you of an opportunity to apply your own effort; he cannot steal your freedom of choice, your work through which you should change yourself. Similarly, parents cannot do the homework for their child, pass exams, and graduate from school instead of him.

However, a person believes that the blessing of a great man will bring him success. This gives him confidence, like a child who feels confident under his parents’ care, and, since the person calms down, he really recovers, worries less about his problems, and solves them. Therefore, he thinks that the blessing helped him.

However, this is only a psychological effect; it does not change destiny. Only a person himself can change his destiny, everyone due to his own efforts. Only in this way can he change his destiny, advancing from the starting point to the end.

Question: So, in order to change destiny, I must evolve as a person. I, myself, should become acquainted with the plan of development and see my place in it.

Answer: This became possible only in our generation, but not before. In the past, people did not ask about this. They just lived, and that’s all. One hundred or two hundred years ago, only certain wise men, philosophers, or psychologists wondered for what purpose the human being was created.

A person lived, asking no questions. He knew that if his father was a blacksmith, he too would become a blacksmith, and then his son. So, it went on from generation to generation. Everything has changed only recently, in the last few decades.

Question: Does this mean that people are getting smarter from generation to generation and that today we are given opportunities to achieve the same power over our lives that thousands years ago was available only the greatest sages?

Answer: Yes, humanity has evolved so much that today ordinary people are on the same level of development at which two thousand years ago only great sages such as Aristotle, Plato, and so on were.
