Does Nature Require The Impossible From Us?

laitman_571.01Question: What do you mean by connection? The great Kabbalist Baal HaSulam writes that there are only two laws in society: the law of receiving and the law of bestowal. By our nature, we love to receive from society and as for bestowal—to the extent we can receive.

Therefore, the problem is that we cannot clearly balance between how much a person in society should receive and how much he should give. If there were a correct balance between receiving and bestowing, then would there be a right type of connection?

Answer: At the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels, nature regulates this instinctively. On the human level, however, we must regulate this by ourselves, but we cannot because we do not know the whole picture regarding nature. We are ruled by egoism and everyone seeks to bend nature for themselves.

Comment: This is a whole science: How much to receive, how much to give, and who to give to? Who should determine all of this?

My Response: We cannot describe this with directives from the government to people. We only need to feel the system of interconnectedness that includes all the forces of nature, and act in accordance with these.

Question: That is, the solution is not to tell a person how much he should receive and how much he should give?

Answer: No. There is a very clear understanding of what should be according to nature (Kabbalah), not in accordance with what comes into someone’s head.

Comment: It is clear to us how this happens in a family. If I feel a connection with my child, my wife, and my relatives, then I will strive to give them as much as possible and receive only necessities for myself because I enjoy giving to them.

My Response: But this works instinctively in you. What do we do when we do not feel the neighbors at all and do not wish anything good for any of them? On the contrary, when I feel that I am above them, that I am bigger and more important, this fills me and pleases me.

How can we rejoice in the success of others more than in our own, like we rejoice in the success of our own children because they are more important to us? Where do we get this love one’s neighbor as oneself?

Comment: Can you imagine what nature requires of us ?!

My Response: It requires the impossible.

Question: And then what?

Answer: Take strength from nature itself, which nature requires of you, then it will make you an altruist. It will put you on the level of your egoism and you will be able to find the correct line of behavior between egoism and altruism, between receiving and bestowing, and between caring for yourself and caring for others. And then you will see how you can change the world.

Why Don’t We Feel Interdependence?

laitman_962.3Question: The spreading coronavirus shows how much we are all interconnected. A Chinese man ate a bat (at least they say so) and now every day thousands of people are dying, a third of the population are quarantined in their homes.

If before we theoretically knew about the butterfly effect, today we see it explicitly. Why don’t we feel dependent on other people?

Answer: Because we are not at the level of the interaction that exists in inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature, but at a higher level of interaction. We are not given the natural way from nature to feel how much we are interdependent in our desires and properties. We need to investigate this and reveal it ourselves. This is the subject of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question: For people, at the highest stage of development, does nature give us freedom of choice to independently realize all these processes, and not remain under the control of instincts?

Answer: I would not say that this is freedom. We have been given a very relative, very narrow freedom in order to make sure that we ourselves need to reveal the correct interaction between ourselves and the inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature.

This is not absolute freedom to do what you want. No. This freedom is only in understanding, realizing, revealing, exploring, and adapting ourselves to our complete dependence on all levels of nature and to organically fit into them.

Connected By Billions Of Forces

laitman_264.01Question: In the new world, in the post-coronavirus era, will each individual feel all eight billion people in the world, as well as the still, vegetative, and animate levels of nature, plus his dependence on them?

Answer: He will feel not only his dependence, but also his influence on them. As it is said, the good of one person depends on the good of all people, and vice versa, the good of all people depends on everyone.

Question: And will this be clear to any person?

Answer: Not only clear, it will be visible because we will reveal the system of interaction.

We are interconnected by invisible forces that are not felt by us. The wisdom of Kabbalah says that we must unleash these forces of interaction and begin to explore ourselves and the world around us in order to attain complete connection between ourselves at the mental, psychological, and sensual levels.

We must become one, single system so that each one who feels some desire, intention, or thought within himself, feels how much he can change the whole system with these factors because he is a strong, energetic, and an individually developed part.

Question: And a person will not need to believe in this since he will feel it all?

Answer: Of course! Just as I see various small mechanisms in front of me, I will also reveal myself as a part of one huge mechanism. Just as everyone is connected with me through billions of forces that affect me, in the same way, I simultaneously influence them with billions of my properties and qualities.

Question: There is attainment in Kabbalah and there is faith. Even if it seems logical to me, why should I believe in it if I do not feel it?

Answer: There is no need to believe! You just need to investigate it and begin to apply it as we unfold.

Mismatch Of Man With The Integrality Of Nature

709Question: You keep saying that the virus and everything that happens to us is sent by nature. What do you mean by this?

Answer: Nature is everything that surrounds us: inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature, and human society.

The inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels act instinctively according to the laws that this system awakens in them. Therefore, there are no internal contradictions.

A person consists of two qualities: the egoistic quality that makes him think only about himself and the quality of connection with the entire world around him.

Here, a contradiction manifests itself: a person is the opposite of the world. We call this oppositeness “egoism,” which is not present in the inanimate, vegetative, or animate nature. In order to achieve his goals and desires to become greater, better, richer, and more powerful, man is ready to destroy all of the surrounding nature and he has all the possibilities to do this.

Here the problem arises: what can be done with a person in order for him to become an organic participant within this system, an integral part of nature, and to not go outside of it and do with it whatever he wants?

From year to year and from generation to generation, man becomes more and more powerful. He kills nature, bends it underneath him, and does things that he does not even need to do. Why? Just because it is necessary to satisfy his small, personal interests.

He burns down forests, drains reservoirs, and does everything to earn money at this moment, to do something to indulge his narrow egoism, although it is absolutely unreasonable. He simply destroys nature.

Question: But aren’t we ourselves a part of nature?

Answer: On the one hand, we are a part of nature and we can’t get out of it. On the other hand, we have an egoistic quality that puts us above nature.

Question: Nature has its own laws: the law of gravity, the law of thermodynamics, etc. Over the past few hundred years, humanity has discovered more than 200 physical laws. Which of them do we as humans not conform with?

Answer: We do not conform with the integral law of nature because all of it is interconnected and is in the state of a closed system that must support itself. We go beyond the framework of integral nature, believing that we can do anything because we need it at that moment.

Let us say I want to be richer than others. This is not justified, but I want it and so I cut down forests, pump out oil, and pollute the air. And it does not matter to me, the main thing for me is to achieve my own egoistic goal.

The animal world has no such goals. Their only goal is to feed themselves and raise their offspring. In addition to these animalistic goals, man has another goal: to rise above others. This is due to our egoism that pushes us to use everything possible in the world around us in order to achieve this goal.

Traveling To Other Far-Away Places

Laitman_712.02Question: We say that traveling, fashion, and current pleasures are not needed anymore. What will we give people instead? What are we going to tell them? What will they get pleasure from?

Answer: I offer you traveling in an absolutely different volume—in the spiritual one. You will be able to travel yourself, fly anywhere and however you wish through all levels, move from world to world, instead of just seeing this small, messy, smoky planet. You can feel what life outside the body means. It is all up to you.

The coronavirus is a medicine that helps us rise to the next level of existence, to feel nature. So do not be afraid, there is something to compensate for your so-called loss.

I have visited all the continents and dozens of countries myself, and I can say that nothing remains in the end. All this is needed only to fill yourself and forget. You will see, in a couple of months you won’t even remember about it. You will be captured by the other unknown far-away places.

Question: And will the people from outside hear this?

Answer: They will! The virus will do this, not us. It does not depend on what I am telling you. I am just informing you in advance. You will see in people how they will be drawn toward completely different far places.

What Prevents Us From Uniting?

laitman_259.02Question: In order for our consciousness to change, i.e., the feelings and mind, consistent upbringing and education are necessary. You say that it is necessary to start with realization of a person’s motivation. He must first understand the benefits of being united with others.

In order to create motivation, values in society must change. We were originally created as social animals and society influences us. What will be the motivation for people to change their priorities?

Answer: In order not to perish and to achieve the right, gracious level of existence.

We need to rise above the level of earthly existence and while still alive in this world begin to feel the next level, the so-called upper world, the level of eternity, perfection, and infinity. Therefore, Kabbalah says: “Understand your world while living in this world.”

Remark: Today in different areas, there are a lot of studies about the benefits of uniting. We see that people who are somehow simply united are more socially protected, they have better health, less depression, and are happier.

But although people specifically see that uniting helps, something still bothers them. We cannot create a society that cultivates bestowal and love.

My Comment: Egoism prevents us from doing that. It is specially created in such a way that in the end, we learn to bestow, to be connected with each other, to unite, and to restore a single network of the interaction of all people, a single network of nature. We have to do it!

It is said that man, as it were, creates the Creator. So, it says: “You made Me!” After all, we must create this network by our efforts, by our understanding of how it should be, how much we must be interconnected. This is our real job!

Precisely thanks to the coronavirus, the crises, and other emerging problems that we must understand that we need to work only to properly feed ourselves, to dress, to put on shoes, and nothing more. Let the rest be done so as to correctly unite with each other. Then in our right unification, we will begin to feel a higher existence among ourselves.

Question: Are the Creator and nature one and the same?

Answer: The Creator is nature in its ideal, correct interaction revealed to us.

Egoism: Disease Or Help?

Laitman_115.05Comment: Kabbalah studies that the world is a single organism and all its elements are interconnected. Today, there is a lot of research on this topic. That is the first point.

The second point is that nature has created an element called “human,” which is opposite to this unity. It specifically created our egoism, which manifests itself in various dramatic situations. Not only the current coronavirus, but all the problems of humanity are the result of our egoism. It turns out that egoism is a real disease.

My Response: I would say that this is not even a disease but our faithful assistant that leads us forward and shows us where we are not in integration with nature. This is where the ego manifests itself, indicating exactly where we are ill. Therefore, egoism is help for us.

Question: Is it as if showing us the opposite state of what we need to come to?

Answer: Yes. It is even called “help against you.”

Comment: But the problem is that we do not see the director of this script.

My Response: Why? Nature around us is the director. Its inner qualities, inner plan, thought, everything is within it, only we cannot recognize them. We are like a little child who looks around and sees only a very small fragment of this picture.

Question: Does each one interpret all natural phenomena in their own way?

Answer: Of course. Each one does this to the extent of one’s egoistic development. Egoistic! Therefore, no answer can be correct.

Comment: It means that on one hand, there is egoism that separates us, and on the other hand, nature pushes us to integration, to connection.

My Response: Yes. It requires that we consciously move to a society of connection, an integral society.

We need to understand that this is what we need in the post-virus state, and we must ascertain all the common and private problems that will arise in building society after this blow when we start slowly getting out of it. I wish everyone good luck. And it depends only on our correct interaction. I am really counting on it.

Using Egoism To Benefit Others

Laitman_177.13How do we survive in the state of quarantine, stress, and loneliness? This blow affected all of humanity, all over the world, striking America, China, Russia, Europe, the Middle East, and the northern Scandinavian countries.

It does not matter where you are, everyone has the same problem. And since the whole world is connected by trade and technological relations, the virus instantly spread throughout the world and everyone felt that a global crisis erupted.

This is not the same as it was in the past when some local crises would erupt having others all too happy to profit from it. Today, this will not work. The crisis will be global, absolute, and will affect all people, all countries, all nations.

Therefore, the only thing we can demand from governments is universal education that will teach us that we are a part of the same system, that all the people on Earth are one nation, and that only with mutual support and care can we avoid the blows that are coming to us and are already on the horizon.

Imagine that the coronavirus is followed by epidemics of other dangerous viruses that exist in nature. We are completely unprepared for this. The only way to avoid this danger is to establish good relations between us. This is the only way to destroy all viruses.

It seems to us that this cannot be compared with an antiviral vaccine, but this is the only thing that will work. Let’s try it. We will have to do it anyway: we must connect into one system.

There is no other way to deal with the crisis. Even if we manage to defeat the coronavirus epidemic, what will we do next? We cannot return to our previous lives and begin to restore the same industrial and trading systems around the globe.

We do not have enough physical or emotional strength to do so. People will not want to return to their old entertainment, they will not fill the resorts, cruise ships, or restaurants.

Mankind has experienced a very serious ideological blow. People do not really want to return to their jobs. They understand that they must make a living, but it does not bring the previous level of enthusiasm. The excitement, incentive, and desire to succeed, to win, or to lead is lost. The impact of the coronavirus made us grow wiser.

The whole world will be depressed until it finds the right path. To do so, we need a new education that will correspond to the world about to emerge. We are in a global and integral nature, and we are obliged to change ourselves by adjusting to the same state.

Otherwise, this state will come to us uninvited as bloody as all changes in social paradigm shifts have been, accompanied by wars and revolutions.

Now we have the opportunity to make this transition gently and easily through public consent and national education. And then we will come to a new society, which will not involve world wars or revolutions.

I really hope that people will understand this, listen and agree with it: both young people who want change, and older people who resist change. Change must be in the relations between people. A person must remember that he lives within an integral nature and must be connected with everyone and care for everyone. Then we find ourselves living in a good world.

Otherwise, we will continue to destroy the Earth, which is no longer able to tolerate us and will simply dispose of us. In material terms, we need no more than what the animal body requires. And there is no need to squeeze out of the earth more than we need for our existence as animals. And only in the relations between us should we be people: backing each other up and building a friendly system of ties between us all.

Therefore, it is necessary to reduce all artificial businesses that there is no real need for, which only destroy nature. And all people that are free from unnecessary work must be engulfed by an integral education system so that everyone would sit at their desks and learn what kind of connection should be between us if we want to survive on this earth and live happily.

Everyone needs to be provided for at the animal level with all that is necessary for sustenance and support for their families. As for internal fulfillment, we need a properly organized society where education and culture are cultivated. We do not need to deplete natural resources to do so, we will be filled with spiritual gains rather than material ones.

Today we find satisfaction in destroying each other and thereby feeding our pride. We ourselves cut the branch we are sitting on. The globe is no longer able to withstand us. The problem is the bad relationships between people and the poor attitude toward nature. This is what causes the emergence of new viruses.

People can continue to engage in science, culture, music, dance, and sports. But there is a difference between the composer writing music for his own benefit in order to become famous and rise above others, or to the contrary, to give them pleasure with a pure open heart.

For a scientist, it is important why he is developing the science: if he wants to understand the whole universe, then what is wrong with that? He grasps the complexities of the world, transmits this knowledge to others so everyone will understand that they really live in a unique world worth saving. I do not call for destruction of egoism. It should be used to benefit people!

To Calm Or To Help?

laitman_600.02Question: Am I correct that the tendency to calm others and seek a positive opinion is damaging and harmful?

Answer: Do not calm others, help others rise.

And why do they live and receive some kind of suffering? It is in order to correctly use it. It is the same as a sick person in front of you, and instead of treating the person, you administer a sedative. And meanwhile the disease is progressing.

You must explain to the person what kind of disease it is and how one can cure it and become healthy.

The Coronavirus Identifies Social Problems

36Question: The coronavirus has revealed another problem. On the one hand, nature separates us from each other, and on the other hand, we have to spend more and more time with our loved ones. As a result, divorces began in China after the epidemic ended. What does nature want to tell us?

Answer: I am not very familiar with China, and I can only say one thing. If previously people worked 12 hours a day or even more, which is natural for the Chinese, and during the epidemic they had to spend 24 hours a day at home, then perhaps this turned out to be an overwhelming burden for them.

The Chinese are workaholics; they cannot live like Europeans. I can’t imagine a Chinese men sitting at home all day and switching television channels. They are very attuned to some goal, to profit. And if suddenly it all disappeared, then, of course, it brings either divorces or suicides, but something should be here.

Question: It’s not even about China. A huge number of social problems arise precisely in the family. Nature has separated us from strangers, but now I spend all day with my loved ones and see them all the time. Maybe this is some kind of hint that I must first correct relations with loved ones because it is simpler, easier?

Answer: First of all, we should just understand what to do.

Today, man does not know why he is participating in this whole game of nature. He does not understand what it is doing with us, what the purpose is. He sees that we have long been following a certain chain of events.

And why these events? He does not understand what is happening to him; he does not know. He sees that we are developing technologically and at the same time we are developing family, social, and state relations. But he does not realize the intention of nature, he does not see why and what it’s all for.

Man needs to have his eyes opened and be told where our development leads us. After all, this is not just a stupid development of nature, which is supposedly evolving according to some kind of mechanical laws. There is a plan in it, and it is impossible to take any action if you do not initially imagine it in some more or less finished state.

It seems to us, as young children: “So I will do something, and something will work out.” There is no such thing in nature. Its ultimate goal is in the original intention.

It consists in bringing all of nature to an integral form in which the beginning, all actions, and the end would appear as absolutely complemented, interconnected with each other. Nature seeks to become integral, completely connected in all its parts and at all its levels. We are developing toward this.

And when we enter into a break with the law of nature to bring everything to equivalence, integrity, interdependence, we begin to feel nature as directed against us. Therefore, all kinds of viruses appear, volcanoes wake up, forests burn, hurricanes develop, etc.
