Question: The word ”Kabbalah” is perceived by many as something mystical. All the people shouting that they are engaged in Kabbalah from Madonna to who knows who, are they really engaged in Kabbalah or in show business?

Answer: Of course it is show business. Kabbalah is a teaching about the revelation of the Creator to a man in this world. Anyone can practice Kabbalah. But in order to actually achieve results, one must get into it very seriously.

Question: If this is so, then why don’t all Jews without exception study Kabbalah?

Answer: Firstly, it was once forbidden to engage in it because people were not sufficiently developed. But starting from the 14th to 15th centuries, Kabbalah had already been allowed to be practiced. Great Kabbalists such as Rambam and Ari wrote about this. And in the 20th century Kabbalah was revealed to everyone so today anyone can study it.

Question: What is the most important thing for you to convey to your students?

Answer: The correct worldview: a view of the world, life, a person, and an epoch.

This is the most important thing for me—to position a person toward the right view of his life. To do this, I need to more or less explain to him the picture of the world in which he exists and how it can be changed in the best direction, with what, by what means, and to what this picture of the world should be brought—because it depends on us.

The world is a derivative of our perception. It turns out that we don’t live in the world, but the world lives in us. And this is what you need to convey to a person—that you make your world, you create it, you paint it inside yourself! It’s not easy to get to this point. To start relating to the world like this is a revolution, a person’s very serious internal, spiritual revolution.

It is necessary to bring people to this, to draw their attention to the fact that the world is not what they feel. The world is a derivative of how they relate to it, that is, you can remake and readjust yourself to the perception of another world. The world does not have its own shape, its own form. This is a picture that you can program. And so you can build the world you live in.

Question: And will the world I live in immediately change for me?

Answer: Of course. It will change according to your wishes, your qualities, and your efforts. That is, you create the world.

Comment: Now, in your daily Kabbalah lessons, you have put aside for a while such texts as The  Study of the Ten Sefirot and The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, and we are studying articles of Baal HaSulam, currently “Peace in the World,” “The Peace,” and so on. Please explain this turnaround.

My Response: This is necessary in order to understand that indeed the world is purely a reflection of our attitude to it.

We exist in a world of upper light. And to the extent that we approach and adapt to this light, we will feel it and feel it in various forms. And these forms should progress depending on our inner change and self-improvement. That’s what I need to bring a person to.

Do you want to see the world differently? Let’s do it!

But for this we must first acquire some knowledge and some tools in order to understand how we perceive the world and how and to what kind of world we can change it.

Because the world itself has no particular quality and no particular form. If we do not interfere in it, then all of us people see the world the same because we all have an egoistic desire and it tunes us to this mutual picture of the world. Therefore we have a common perception, a common language, communication, interaction, and so on.

But if I begin to understand that the world is what I draw in myself, and in this way I see it outside of myself, then I can already work on an individual picture of the world, the arrangement of the world. And here we are already entering a completely different area. That is, we begin to understand why we are in such a deteriorating world, why it is felt by us in this way, and what we can do in order to begin to feel it differently.

To do this we must readjust internally and come to a state where we will feel in our five bodily sense organs one picture of the world, like everyone else around us.

And in the five organs that we will gradually create in ourselves, we will feel another world, the so-called upper world. We will be able to feel the difference between them, how the upper world paints a picture of this world in us, and how we can rise from this world to the upper world. These are the states that we must begin to realize in ourselves; they should gradually become closer and closer to us.

Therefore our most important task is to go through certain stages of spiritual preparation, and then begin to change ourselves, and correspondingly observe how we change the picture of the world around us in accordance with our internal changes, as a consequence of our internal changes.

The fact that this world is given to us in such a state is a certain picture given to us, perceived by us in our primordial egoistic qualities, which are also gradually changing. They change for everyone, more or less, at the same time. Therefore we observe humanity and inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature as gradually changing. But this development is very slow, over thousands of years, and it is purely egoistic.

If we rise above our egoism, we will begin to enter into completely different sensations of the world, and we will already see a different world, a different picture, different interactions in ourselves, as it were, independent of the external picture.

We will no longer see inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature and man, but rather the world of forces—that which actually exists. And our world is also the forces that influence us and create such projections of this world in us that seem alive and existing to us as given in our sensations.

But in fact it is important for us to start interacting with the world of forces; that is what I have to bring people to. They don’t know it yet, but they need to be prepared for it. Preparation takes many years. I think that today it is already possible to talk about this, and we should come close to it literally within the next short while, maybe even in a few weeks.

Therefore I do not want to engage in sheer mechanics or some kind of abstract science where we draw some charts on a piece of paper to depict interactions between physical forces that we do not understand.

And when we are able to reproduce and realize these forces in ourselves, then what we study will be our theoretical part, which is necessary for the implementation of our spiritual actions. That is what I want to bring people to.

Therefore I am in no hurry to break into the very science of Kabbalah. In order to break into it practically, we need to hold certain forces of nature that are not yet in us today; they are not yet manifested. We need to start revealing them and learn how to really work with them.

This is the answer to what we must come to.

Question: What is the main message in the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah?

I think that’s wrong. We have to fight. If we turn to the upper force of nature that created us like this and strive to rise in connection with each other, then we should succeed.

Otherwise we just go down to our end. We have no other option. Alternatively we advance gradually and kill ourselves. This could happen in the next war. Or we will rise above ourselves and begin to implement good relations after all.

Question: Yulia wrote: “Some kind of grandiose step-by-step program is needed to unite people.” Does it exist?

Answer: The program exists. But she has to connect to it.

We have this program, and we are trying to disseminate it, explain it, and implement it. It is in front of you, please.

Question: In this step-by-step program of ours there are several stages about which questions are asked all the time. And you have talked about them. The first is “don’t do to others what you don’t want done to yourself.” And the other is “love your neighbor as yourself.” Can you explain them to people in a very simple way?

Answer: This is reaching the level of Bina and reaching the level of Keter.

I’ll say it simply. The first is to rise above your ego. This is “don’t do to others what you don’t want done to yourself.” To achieve a neutral state when you don’t want to do anyone any harm.

And the second is when you want to fill everyone with absolute goodness. That’s it. Two steps.

Comment: The twentieth century was marked by many fate-altering events. Thus, in the twentieth century, Baal HaSulam revealed The Book of Zohar to our generation and urged everyone to start studying Kabbalah, foreseeing that delaying it would be catastrophic.

He warned that this was indicated in The Book of Zohar, but very few listened. Everyone knows what followed: world war and a hundred million dead.

At first glance, to the uninitiated eye, there is no connection between the disclosure of The Book of Zohar and its impact on the world setting off a chain of events.

My Response: The Book of Zohar is a source of the upper force in this world. It is a bridge through which we can cross from our world to the upper world, a communication channel through which we can contact the Creator. There is no book equal in power to it. Kabbalists have written about this in all ages.

When we started studying The Book of Zohar in the framework of our Kabbalah academies and education centers  (KabU in the US) all over the world, I immediately began receiving letters from people whom I had previously considered spiritually dead. They wrote: “This is so powerful! What’ is happening to me? Why is that?”

The fact is that they began to feel huge changes within themselves. Without understanding anything, without any preliminary preparation, with only some small rudiments of Kabbalistic knowledge, they suddenly began to feel that they were going through very serious states.

The Book of Zohar is a channel of the upper light to our world. We are dealing with serious energy here.

Question: How should we organize the work of people responsible for integral education?

Answer: It should be mutual work where everyone is an expert in his own business but all are tied in one team. How? As far as I bend to my friends, in this I am great, despite all my personal searches. The unification should be just above this.

But in our business it happens that a person suddenly falls, for a day, for two, etc. He is unable to speak, he has inner experiences, and his spiritual muse disappears somewhere. Here you need to come to the rescue, look for a temporary replacement.

Question: How can you convey to people with structured thinking, who do not have endless torment and  doubts that these are just properties that can also be useful?

Answer: Do you really think that when I go out to class every day, I have no inner searches, worries, assents and dissents? But my students don’t see it! You can never tell by looking at me what my inner state is like. And, believe me, it is thousands of times more complicated than yours.

You have to own it. At first it is very difficult and may even become an excuse to say: “I cannot do anything now,” they will understand you. But it shouldn’t go into the system. Then it will be easier.

Question: How do we make the work of each integral education specialist as efficient as possible in order to get effective dissemination?

Answer: The most important thing in a person’s work is to receive approval, respect, and support from the team in which he works.

We want to do the same in those places where we disseminate integral education and upbringing. We begin to weave a network of connections, so that people are mutually connected, so that they understand how they can enrich the team, how much easier, more joyful and comfortable it will be for them.

In this way, they can improve both themselves and the environment in which they exist, and feel happy. First, we must maintain such a state artificially until we begin to receive it from the internal connection with one another.

For this, a responsible person is appointed who makes sure that the members of the team have a constant ascent, meaning choose special content, clips, arrange phone calls between them throughout the day, and so on.

Moreover, those responsible should understand that since they are engaged in dissemination, they have nothing to pass on to other people without an inner fire. A person with a bad mood who is in a mental decline, definitely needs a team. He needs to be raised, put on his feet, healed, and reassured. And only when he is filled with inner energy, with the air of special unification, can he go on further and do more, otherwise he will fail the work.

People leading integral classes, first of all, should unite themselves, get a collective inspiration, a sense of security, reliability, a sense of their high state. They need to show themselves to students as confident, knowledgeable, and carrying an inner charge and warmth.

When they enter the team they should give the feeling that there are, say, not three people there, but one, one common whole. They begin to play with the collective with six hands, as one single body.

Question: Could there be such concepts as envy and honor?

Answer: There is everything here! We are dealing with the egoism of man, we understand the basis of his nature. Therefore, there should be envy, power, honor, respect, a sense of a leap, a sense of pleasure in the attack, and so on. That is, all these qualities should work, absolutely all of them!
