Envy The Good

962.6Comment: Usually people envy each other with standard egoistic envy.

My Response: What do you want from people?! They need to be educated. Today, in the 21st century, they are at the same level of development as 10,000 years ago. At absolutely the same level! Their inner potential, their inner attitude to “I and the world” did not change, but only became worse, more egoistic.

Who do you consider to be human? A creature that can press buttons on a phone, work with text messages, or something else like that? What has changed in him? His attitude to the world? No! Only the toys he uses have changed.

But he himself is a consumer-egoist, an all-hater. His attitude to everything and the world around him became much worse.

We need to transform evil egoism into good. Good egoism is based on the fact that I envy the positive qualities of others and want to be like them.

I thank them for giving me a good example and helping me with this. I will beg them, and they will help me pull myself up.

I do not envy the fact that someone has become rich, smart, and knowledgeable. To the contrary! I want to be like them, and with the help of this, I advance.

I understand egoists who want everyone to be worse than them. But, in principle, this is the smallest, most undeveloped egoism.

Big, fruitful, and correctly implemented egoism is when you envy the good. And as much as possible!

As we say in the group: we must envy our friends. I have to think that they are the biggest, and I am nobody and nothing. Then everything starts to burn in me! Not because I want to bring them all down, criticize and erase them, but because then I can pull myself up to them.

They may be very small, as in the example of Rabbi Yossi Ben Kisma, but I can advance. This is what is important to me. Because no one knows who he is. In fact, his height is from here to the world of infinity. Each and everyone’s!

When Does the Line Turn into a Sphere?

275Today, society itself is everything; it is becoming self-sufficient. Therefore, the question is how to form this society so as not to let it develop spontaneously.

A lot of work has been done for a long time by special services and various organizations that sit in public networks and process an integral virtual community in all languages through thousands of methods known and unknown to them. Everyone knows and understands this.

But still, no one knows or understands what this society should be and what path it will take.

On one hand, all governments and intelligence agencies are busy working in cyberspace. But they work the same way like a pipe that enters a sphere and tries to influence it with its linear laws. It will not last long. They will see, nevertheless, that they are not achieving anything.

As we study in the second part of TES “The Interaction of a Line and a Circle,” the integrality of a sphere, with some kind of influence on it, can be when the line itself takes the quality of a sphere.

The line can affect the sphere only when it teaches or causes the quality of bestowal in this sphere. After all, the sphere itself, i.e., society, humanity, locked into an integral system, is a global, analog device working together, and is closed within itself in everything and throughout. Therefore, it will be possible to influence humanity only in this way.

275Comment: You say that the entire world is within a person, but I perceive myself as existing outside of you.

My Response: Of course! I perceive you that way too, although I know with certainty that it is all within me. But I address you as someone existing outside of myself.

But I have no complaints about your external self. If I want to change something, it is not you that I should change, take a screwdriver or pliers to, to get inside you and start tinkering or rewiring. No! I should change myself. Then you, as an external reflection of some internal image of mine, will change as well.

Question: How do you change all this?

Answer: Only by rising above egoism with love can these desires be united together and directed toward a common center within me. In principle, it is done like this: I try to feel your desires and influence them so that they become better.

Question: Isn’t this just psychology where you artificially justify another person?

Answer: No, if I justify there will be nothing for me to correct. I must reveal my true actions in this.

Question: Suppose you see a desire outside of yourself and perceive it. How do you change it within yourself? How does this process happen? How do you see the changed reflection?

Answer: I simply see that there is complete internal convergence with this desire. We unite in thoughts, feelings, understanding, and decisions. We become like one entity helping each other.

These two desires, yours and mine, are different in their origin. That is, at the starting point you have certain desires and I have others, but externally in their implementation they become similar, and we work together in perfect harmony.

If two people already in a spiritual state, meaning a Kabbalist with a Kabbalist, are engaged in correcting desires, then their joint work goes against the rest of uncorrected desires. They create dipoles, tripoles, and quadripoles, and begin to function as a joint organism. And thus, it is as if they are being rebuilt.

Global University

582.01Question: Why don’t you want to create a more university-like, classical approach to our academy?

Answer: Our studies take place through communication, uniting, a person’s experience, formation, and upbringing.

A regular university does not educate. It provides education, general information, but not upbringing.

We give information that shapes you from the inside. Therefore in the process of obtaining this information, you must be connected with the teacher and the group and work together with them, then you will go through all kinds of inner sensations.

It is not easy. Our university is very unique, unlike others.

We must create a system of world education that will be suitable for any modern civilization. Today, there are six or seven different civilizations in the world. These are Europe, Africa, South and North America, Australia, and Asia, which in turn is divided into southeast and northeast. That is, we have many applicants who need a special approach.

Gradually, we are creating a worldwide virtual education system. We have built a portal where we want to unite all the forces in the world who understand what a crisis is, that there is no ordinary way out, that it can be solved only through unification and integration, only by the fact that people will be interconnected into a common system.

This is how we prepare the base, public opinion, and scientists. We want to unite all this into one “mighty bunch,” numbering thousands of people who understand and feel it, mainly all kinds of scientists, psychologists, sociologists, economists, and politicians. Together with them we will gradually understand that it is necessary to educate humanity, that it is the most important thing, and that we cannot solve the crisis in the same, old ways.

We cannot solve the crisis by stimulating production. Then we would completely deplete and pollute the entire earth. Besides, we cannot leave everything as is and start conserving, because if we do, the masses will rise.

What can be done? If we can neither stimulate nor cut back our life, what then?

Therefore, we need to organize a completely different society, one where everyone works minimally and the rest of the time is spent studying and going through a constant course of upbringing and education from the beginning to the end of life, studying about the world we live in.

And since the world we are beginning to enter is a world of degrees, all mankind must constantly engage in education and upbringing in order to ascend these degrees. This is the global university. In the end, this is how it should be.

We will approach this in several stages. The first stage is recognizing the crisis, the impossibility of getting out of it either in expanding or contracting, namely, in transitioning to an economy of reasonable consumption, which is what Baal HaSulam spoke about. In everything else, you fill a person with inner work.

Otherwise, nothing will work! Even if no one wants to, or if some do and some do not, it will be necessary to oblige people to take a minimum course of upbringing and education so they understand that we are entering a different system.

There is no other way. Nature will force us. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent all excesses through education and start now. I hope we can do this in the near future.

Subtleties of Virtual Dissemination

962.7Question: Among your students there is a certain understanding of going out to the masses. Ninety percent of Kabbalistic material is intended for inner development, but many people think that they are engaged in external dissemination. How can you protect yourself from this?

Answer: All this will be formed simultaneously. A teacher cannot work without students nor students without a teacher.

Once they receive some knowledge, everything else is attained in practical work. They have to work with virtual networks, with the population. Gradually, as the virtual community develops, we will be able to speak differently and open up.

When you start working with a small child, you communicate with him at his level: toys, dolls, cubes, and so on. You are slowly pulling him up, giving him more abstract toys, more complex tasks based not on his primitive feelings, but by requiring some kind of mental work.

You need to develop him gradually from simple soft toys to cubes, from cubes to drawing, from drawing to logic, and so on.

All this must be formed! Today we have to work with “soft toys”;  we have to show people on social networks what they want to see, and to add our ideas into it a little bit, about half a percent.

Question: How can we protect this child from burning down the apartment or kindergarten?

Answer: He will not burn anything. The only thing he can do is throw you away and come back to himself again. Then the suffering will beat him until he hears you again, until you come a little closer to him and you coincide with each other.

This is how we have to go together at every level. Here everything depends on how much he feels suffering and is ready to listen, and how much you can lower yourself and become such that he will hear you.

Question: You have students who are like little children to you. How can these little children not get into trouble so as not to negatively affect other children who are even younger?

Answer: They will not mess up! Because the path of suffering is the worst path. Eventually, we will raise humanity by our own efforts and lead it upward. There is nothing worse than sitting and doing nothing.

Therefore, we should try to disseminate by all means. Something drips somewhere and breaks through somewhere. Perhaps not now, but it will still remain online, and suddenly in a few years, it will begin to manifest itself. People will start to remember!

The Power of Cinematography

Comment: When a person watches a movie, he becomes permeated with the desire of the main character, he worries, cries, and feels the pain that the character feels. How does this principle work?

My Response: This is an attempt to get into a different character, connect with it, imagine yourself in his place, and put on his life. Each of us has such an attempt, without which we would not be connected to each other. But for this, we need an auxiliary tool—empathy.

Therefore, theater, cinema, and video clips have a very serious influence and strong means of perceiving someone through a visual image.

Therefore, we need to show the society of the future what principles it works on, what relationships exist between people, and how they come to the society of the future in a good way.

It can be done through war, but clearly, these are terrible sufferings that will force humanity to agree to anything just to stop suffering. But to come to it in a good way, it is necessary to be aware of this process and its desirability, not even because I want to escape from suffering, but because I see a great light in it.

It would be great to implement this idea in the cinema.

Not from a Good Life

231.01Comment: In the current situation in the world, there is more and more depression and stress and people are becoming more and more closed.

My Response: People are closed up to a certain point where they can no longer escape anywhere. They are still playing and trying to get away from problems; they are using those instinctive means that they have used for thousands of years: we will dance with spears around the campfire like wild people, get drunk, get stoned, or play war.

What does humanity do? Drugs, alcohol, sex, and also football. This is something that you can really seriously distract yourself with, not from the good life, but only to get away from stress.

When a person has a good life, when he is in ascent, he should not suppress his animalistic body. On the contrary, it only helps him to advance.

“Is there anything wrong with living for your own pleasure too much?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is there anything wrong with living for your own pleasure too much?

We live within laws of nature, which develop us according to a certain plan in order to reach a destination where we will harmoniously connect with each other and discover the positive force of love, giving and connection that dwells in nature.

Toward that happy ending, nature created us in an opposite quality to its own—as egoists, while nature and its laws operate altruistically—in order for us to develop a realization of our egoistic nature as flawed, and come to want an inversion to a new altruistic nature, which accords with nature’s laws.

We thus have a period in our development when we grow through our egoistic desires, enjoying materialistically for our own personal pleasure, and another period when we start feeling increasing emptiness in our constant pursuit for self-benefit. The latter feeling characterizes our current era.

Today, we experience our egoistic desires reaching a threshold where they can no longer be satisfied like they used to. We developed through desires for food, sex, family, money, honor, control and knowledge, and today we feel increasingly short-lived fulfillments at these levels. As a result, we bear witness to rising depression, loneliness, stress, anxiety, drug abuse and suicide, i.e., all kinds of phenomena that stem from our desires feeling emptier, that we cannot be meaningfully satisfied by the smorgasbord of available pleasures.

We are thus at a crossroad between our outdated egoistic mode of enjoying ourselves, the need to grow out of our egoistic attitude to life and to acquire a new altruistic mode of relating to each other, which is congruent with nature’s laws.

At this crossroad, we still find many people who cling onto an approach of “I have my job. I don’t steal. I pay my taxes. I’m a good citizen. And yes, I enjoy life. I travel overseas with my family, I visit Disneyland, go to all kinds of restaurants, and so on. What’s bad about that?”

We see, however, that it is still insufficient. Moreover, there is a mind, plan and laws of nature that operate beyond our egoistic minds’ reach, and according to that higher plan, we need to grow up, to learn how it works, and how we can apply its laws to our own attitudes and connections.

Our egoism, however, rejects the higher plan and laws. In this respect, we are like small children who reach a certain age where they have to leave behind their pacifier or various toys, and they want to hold onto them at any cost, crying and crying if they are taken away.

Therefore, we do not want to recognize and understand these new laws. Why? It is because in our egoistic modus operandi, we fail to see how we can enjoy life according to an altruistic paradigm, i.e., where we switch our primary attitude of self-benefit to benefiting others.

There is no problem with enjoying the many pleasures of life, like eating well, making money, traveling and going to good restaurants, and so on and so forth. It is just that while we immerse ourselves in those corporeal pleasures, we are not advancing in accordance with the higher plan that was prepared for us, i.e., to the true meaning and purpose of our lives. We fail to develop our emotion and intellect to a whole other level that nature’s laws lay out: the sensation of an eternal and perfect reality where pleasure flows abundantly, unbounded by the constraints of our narrow egoistic perceptions, and where we all experience completely harmony and bliss.

There is thus nothing wrong with enjoying the many pleasures of life. But we need to acknowledge the existence of a plan that is higher than us, and that we are in a certain stage of development where we will have to grow out of our current narrow egoistic worldviews and start feeling a new eternal and perfect reality with the positive altruistic force of nature enlivening our connections.
