Two Trends In The Life Of The Jewish Diaspora, Part 1

laitman_437Where is the integration of Jews in other countries leading?

Question: Several hundred years ago with the arrival of Arabs to Spain, the Spanish Golden Age period began. Jews enjoyed religious freedom, led the country’s economy, and had judicial autonomy.

In the 12th century, even the word convivencia appeared, meaning the happy coexistence of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Usually such periods in history ended very quickly. As soon as Jews would begin to integrate with any country, the law of anti-Semitism switched on immediately, and they were persecuted. Why? You always say that the goal of dispersing the Jews is to transfer the spiritual method to other nations.

Answer: Only If their goal is to really transfer the methodology.

Dispersion usually leads to the absorption of a people and nothing remains of it. Who then would fulfill the plan of nature? Therefore, the law of anti-Semitism kicks in, the law of the preservation of the Jewish people so that they fulfill their spiritual mission. Assimilation is absorption, dissolution.

Remark: But the Jews kept all the commandments, all the traditions. Always.

Answer: No, it was not always the case. They tried in every possible way to adopt the cultural and worldly traditions of other nations. Many converted to a different faith. Mixed marriages spread. Jews rejected their dependence on the Torah. It was not easy.

Remark: Indeed, such people in Spain were called conversos or maranas. They adopted Christianity in order to advance through the ranks and occupy posts. It was at this moment that the pogroms began. As the Soviet historian S. YA Lurie wrote: “So, we come to the conclusion that the intensification of assimilative tendencies in Jewry has always caused an increase in anti-Semitism and in particular (which sounds especially paradoxical), an increase in accusations of particularism,” that is, in separation.

Answer: You will not escape; this is the law of nature. You can develop but only in the direction that enables your connection with others in order to convey your spiritual path to them. And if this is not the case, then this connection brings a sharply negative impact from those with whom you are connecting.

laitman_255Question: Is there a mutual guarantee between a husband and a wife?

Answer: Marriage is a state of mutual guarantee to help each other through life in order to achieve the revelation of the Creator between the spouses. It is very important.

Question: If a couple has adopted children, is this considered a whole family?

Answer: Yes. If a couple has adopted these children, it is considered a whole family. But this is indeed a special family, and they will receive special help from above.

Question: How can a woman fight viruses in her head, the foreign thoughts? Is this possible in Kabbalah?

Answer: Kabbalah says that all those thoughts that you consider to be viruses are just like any other thoughts, and they intentionally come to us from above. You must acknowledge them, understand them correctly, connect to their source, and then you will correctly position and work with them. But you should not negate or discard those thoughts.

Question: Should spouses connect the male and female parts in them so that their relationship would be balanced and harmonious?

Answer: Yes, each one needs to connect them so that the male part would give the Tzimtzum, Masach, and the reflected light, and this is what we call the corrected state. The female part, on the other hand, should provide the desire, the ego above which it is possible to build the correction. And both parts will interact harmoniously in every individual.

Question: There are quite a few good female members in our group who have been studying Kabbalah for a long time and are not married. How should we care for them?

Answer: You should do everything in your power to have them married as soon as possible. Then you will have many more good members. Start engaging in this seriously. You will be doing two good things at the same time: you will marry the women and you will acquire new members in the group.

The Difference Between Spirituality And Corporeality

laitman_562.02Remark: In the spiritual world, everyone feels the others and is in balance with them. In the corporeal world, a person feels only himself, considers only himself, and is only in external communication with other people.

My Reply: In the spiritual world, everyone feels one common desire, and therefore, all are included in one common whole.

Question: Can we imagine this as the body of a single organism?

Answer: It is better to imagine it as the Creator because it is within Him that we gather.

Remark: In the corporeal world, all living organisms operate according to a predetermined program: maximum pleasure with minimum energy spent. However, in the spiritual world, the opposite is true: each element of the system works for maximum bestowal and requires only the necessary absorption.

My Reply: Yes. In order to bestow to a maximum.

Remark: Corporeality is receiving for one’s own sake, and spirituality is pure bestowal. The difference is only in the intention, in the direction, and the train of thought. Yet, nevertheless, this is just a psychological transition.

My Reply: This is absolutely correct. Our world exists only in our perception, in our head, in our feelings, and no more than that. If we annul our thoughts and desires, our world would disappear from our senses. In reality, it would not exist.

Naturally, this contradicts the statement that matter is the reality given to us in our sensations. Matter is not reality but  what is currently happening in our senses under the given circumstances.

However, if we changed these circumstances, we would no longer feel matter. It practically does not exist. If we change our qualities, we will feel the spiritual matter instead of the corporeal one.

In other words, both the spiritual and corporeal worlds exist within us, and only in our sensations, in our desires. Outside of the desire, we cannot realize, understand, or define anything. If something exists outside of our desire, we define it as Atzmuto—something that exists in itself, the upper root.

Balancing Relations With The Light

laitman_939.02Balancing our relations with the Light means that we have to constantly relate to it the same way it relates to us. The attributes of the light are bestowal, love, and mutual connection.

So, we have to feel how we can constantly create balance with it. If we want to advance correctly in the Creator’s world, this has to be our mission.

We can gradually get closer to keeping this condition only if we are in a group. Then we will begin to create and acquire the right attitude to the light in the connection between us and understand which attributes there should be between us and what the mutual connection between these attributes is.

We need to learn how the mutual relations in different parameters, different attributes, yearnings, and desires will complement one another and will eventually all resemble the light that shines on us all the time.

The light of each ten, each Kabbalistic group, shines differently, because each one is seemingly a small part of the one big body of Adam, the one general soul.

So, when we are together in a small group, we can begin to resemble the light as a result of the relations between us. Mutual cooperation will determine our attitude to the light.

Then we will begin to feel the light and to cooperate with it in mutuality, and our relations with it will be the most important thing for us, whereas all the other things in our world will be totally unimportant to us.

We still seemingly detach ourselves from our world and use it only in order to exist, while everything else, including our energy, our study, and our feelings will be dedicated only to the connection between us, to resembling the upper light more and more each time. Then the upper light will fill us, warm us, and give us a feeling of eternity and wholeness.

We will begin to feel how the Creator, the light, is revealed in us, and then we will feel that we are in the upper world while living in our world.

Everything Is Absolutely Fair

laitman_571.01Question: There is a rule in spirituality: the worse, the better. Is it true that the more difficult the starting conditions, the better the spiritual advancement?

Answer: I wouldn’t say that. It only seems that way to people because they can’t measure what is better or worse. Envy always depicts the grass as being greener on the other side. There is no need to pay attention to it. This is absolutely not the case.

When you correct yourself and begin to view everything correctly, you will not have any complaints about the Creator. “Why does he do this, but I have that? Why does this person have it easier and I have it harder? Why wasn’t I born 2,000 years ago, but exactly during the last generation?” You will see that everything is arranged absolutely right.
