Time To Come Out From Hiding

laitman_533_02We know how much suffering people who were involved with the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah went through since the time that the method of the Ari began to be introduced in this world. And this is not because of someone’s evil will but because we exist in a broken system.

And the moment that you begin to go out with your spiritual idea that is directed towards connection between people, you immediately put yourself under fire from all directions.

Someone who was neutral and even supported you also comes out against you. After all, you are arousing anti-egoistic forces and egoism is the nature of the whole world. So we see that there aren’t any people in whom anti-Semitism isn’t hiding, after all, it comes from nature. It is possible to ignite the fire of this hatred in everyone.

Correspondingly, anyone who hears about the wisdom of Kabbalah hates it because he is in the nature of the broken desires. And if he is attracted to the wisdom of Kabbalah, it is only out of curiosity. But in fact, he hates it, and to the degree that he gets closer to it, he hates it more and more, until he abandons it.

There has to be great help from above and work in this world, so that together they will influence a person, and he will cross the potential Machsom (barrier) standing before him, leap above it, and rise to his first spiritual level.

We know how the first Hasidim suffered; they were arrested and put in prison in Russia and in the Ukraine. Against them was the Mitnagdim (the movement against Hasidism). Those religious Jews hated the Hassids who wanted to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah so much that they made efforts to imprison them and condemn them to death. The fire of hatred burn in the religious Jews regarding those who tried to open the wisdom of Kabbalah and spoke about connecting people and revealing the hearts that this hatred is felt to this day, even though modern Hassidism is no longer the ideology it once was, and therefore, there is not as much opposition to it.

We know how much Baal HaSulam suffered. When he published the newspaper, The Nation it was immediately shut it down. He planned to write 50 articles continuing with “Matan Torah (The Giving of the Torah),” “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee),” and “Peace in the World.” But instead of 50 articles, he only published four as he was forced to stop because the newspaper was shut down. He said: “If so, then the generation is not ready for this, and there is nobody to write for!” How many new ideas would we have gotten if he hadn’t stopped?

Even during my life with Rabash I saw how much it was difficult to be involved with studying Kabbalah. Today there are many such groups, and if you sit in your corner and don’t go out, everything is okay, there will not be opposition. But the moment that you go out, you will get blows. Like the Jews who lived in exile in the closed ghettos, the Kabbalists lived among the Jews.

But the time has come when we must come out of hiding not for the sake of some abstract idea, but because the correction in our generation is possible only with the inclusion of masses of people. The connection between them is the only condition necessary for revelation. It follows that if I don’t connect to others, I don’t create the conditions, the means, the basis, the bearer in which the Light can be revealed.

And then all of my studying would be in vain; it would bring no added value that would allow me to realize myself and truly merit the discovery of the Light, the revelation of the Creator, raising myself to the first spiritual level. This is possible only if thousands more will connect with this. Even though the power of each is minimal, together they are strong in quantity that works together with the qualitative force that worked in previous generations.

And so we have received the opportunity to fill the desire that is burning in us. It burns a bit in each one, like a thin candle. But if we connect many candles together, a gigantic blaze is created that is prepared to illuminate with spiritual Light.

laitman_430Shattered Dreams

At that time they wanted to introduce communism in Russia by force, or to lead through dictatorial methods in South America, Cuba, and Spain.

But a dream is a dream. In fact, it is correct and good because it went against the ego; for one way or another, people were striving for balance, equal rights, etc. So in principle the developed nations understood that they had to at least partially satisfy this aspiration of the population.

Today capitalism is already beginning to sink, deteriorate, and show its end. Capitalism is a necessary stage in the development of egoism, where with all our might each of us strives to get for himself, and as a result we are in deadlock.

It could be that one or two generations lived in prosperity, but with that the American dream ended. And now America and the other egoistically developed nations will deteriorate further and further. Today there isn’t even the same distorted socialism that they once tried to build in the Soviet Union anymore.

How Not To Waste Time

laitman_928Question: Sometimes there is a feeling that it is difficult to manage one’s time, that we waste it. What should we avoid in order not to waste time?

Answer: The entire universe consists of two forces, the forces of bestowal and reception, plus and minus. We all live in the force of reception, and therefore are limited.

Indeed, how much can you receive of something from someone? I am not able to receive freely from some sources as I wish. Perhaps a spoiled child whom his or her parents love with absolute love can get from them whatever he or she wants, but their options are limited.

But if my desires grow and I am in a society where everyone is like me, then we are not able to fulfill our desires. Therefore, people are steeped  in drug use, depression, and so on, because they cannot fulfill themselves.

The force of reception is very limited, but the force of bestowal is not. Indeed, you can give without limit, “If I benefit from it with a good mood and a sense of life, I would give gladly.”

Our problem is that we are organized in such a way that we get pleasure from receiving, but not from bestowal. It is only if we give to our children, relatives, and loved ones that we derive pleasure from giving. The more we give, the more we enjoy. We have only a few such examples, but these are limited in time and do not grow in strength from giving pleasure.

Here you can continue to explore further: What would life be like if we organized it not by the receiving force, but by the force of bestowal? If we all had been born or could develop the force of bestowal and live in this paradigm, then it would not be limited regardless of time.

We would feel time differently—not with a sense of a constant lack of fulfillment when I feel the time between what I want and when I receive what I wanted. On the contrary, time would shrink to zero as measured between when I want to give and when I give.

If I can give and I have something to give, then I have no time. The sense of time disappears. Then we speak not from time, but from action. In other words, we leave the time frame. This is stated in modern physics and most of psychology, in the psychology of bestowal and not receiving.

Genuine Peace Rather Than A Temporary Calm

laitman_572_03Question: Is it possible to achieve the same harmonious balanced state to which the study of Kabbalah leads just by going on vacation to rest?

Answer: As long as a person is not sufficiently developed he can simply go on vacation and be satisfied. He travels away from the city, leaving his job, competition, disconnecting from news, and calms down.

But we are talking about people who become aware that they are dominated by the evil egoistic force. Here, a vacation will not help because a person feels that he cannot rest peacefully. He cannot get rid of the thought that his empty life is slipping by, which will end without any benefit.

A person becomes desperate that he cannot realize himself in life. He cannot lie in a deck chair by the pool or the sea and enjoy. Egoism, the desire to enjoy, is burning in him, not letting him rest. He does not see where he could fulfill himself. His life is empty.

We see that today this mood is very common judging by the quantity of drugs and antidepressants humanity consumes. Everyone suffers, but many already have come to the realization we must get out of this dead end.

Here, you can explain that there is a solution, not just a sedative suppressing the evil force temporarily and letting our animal body rest like a cat who basks in the sun and thinks of nothing.

The method of Kabbalah allows us to reveal the positive force of nature and establish balance between the two forces, negative and positive, combining the plus and minus in oneself. When the plus and minus come into balance, then between them we discover the spiritual world, a higher dimension, our next state, the future world.

Then, we see ourselves not in this world lying on the beach under the sun by the sea, not surrounded by material objects like stones, plants, animals, and people, but existing in the field of forces that govern our world. We rise to the level of these forces, and there find the source of happiness and fulfillment.

The Weekly Torah Portion Naso: Counting The Attributes

laitman_557The Torah, “Numbers,” 4:21 – 4:22, 4:49: The Lord spoke to Moses saying: Take a census of the sons of Gershon, of them too, following their fathers’ houses, according to their families…As directed by the Lord, they were appointed by Moses, each man to his service and his burden; they were counted as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Question: The weekly section “Naso” begins with usual phrase: “the Lord spoke to Moses saying.” What does that mean?

Answer: When the Creator speaks to Moses He turns to the point in a person that connects him with the upper force. We always speak with the Creator through this point but we don’t hear Him. Therefore, our mission is to hear the Creator.

It says: “‘Take a consensus of the sons of Gershon, of them too, following their fathers’ houses, according to their families,” which refers to a calculation, meaning to the counting and checking of different attributes since they are all in each of us. I have to scan and organize them and to determine which I control more and which less, how they accumulate inside me into one figure, and what I should do with them. Thus, I prepare the attributes I have counted inside me for action.

The Revolution Of The 21st Century: “Down To The Foundations” Is Not Our Method

laitman_547_06(Continued from the “Revolution Of The 21st Century: Rich Man, Poor Man”)

Having engaged the people, the integral methodology will, in fact, lead to reducing the gap between the rich and poor; it will  become acceptable and no one will see it as unbearable. The familiar feeling as if the rich rob us will disappear.

As part of the new relationship, without any negative incentives, the rich themselves will be willing to share more than you can imagine today. Their contribution to society will be enormous.

We are talking about successful people who, under the new conditions, will be able to manage society correctly and integrally including the interests of the weaker sections of the population. The poor are incapable of this. Only their children and grandchildren will be able to become good managers.

Thus, in addition to social learning, nothing else will help. It’s either the one or the other. Gradually, the poor will realize that they need the skills and abilities of the rich, and the rich will realize that they must serve the poor. As a result, both parts of society will be imbued with unity and love, and confidence in the future.

There is no other solution.

For example, in Russia, the October Revolution completely destroyed the previous system down to the foundations, and the dire consequences of this are still being felt. You cannot put a housewife in the leadership of the country.

The same thing is happening in the Israeli Knesset: Some journalists become politicians and lawmakers. Moreover, he strives to become the Prime Minister. On what basis? Indeed, one, must first graduate from several universities, take special courses, and gain experience.

In the West, it is done in this way. Not everyone can be a good head of state or a minister or member of parliament. However, here eloquence replaces true qualifications.

The Method For Spiritual Ascent

Laitman_041_01The Torah is a method for purification from the ego and the gradual attainment of “entry into the Land of Israel,” meaning, the attainment of desires similar to the characteristics of the Creator filled with goodness and love directed from each one to all the rest.

All of this was realized in the forty years of wandering in the wilderness. Nobody attained the height all at once. When a person comes to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, he or she is preparing him or herself for entry into a spiritual level; he passes through a multitude of different states: ascents, descents, and forward movements that seem like a regression to him. There is perpetual movement from one state to another state. Actually, the same tendency can be seen here: All of the states are absolutely different; all of them are given to us by the upper force, the Creator, and we need to direct them to the singular point of convergence towards Him for everyone. The main thing is connection with the Creator in spite of all the states we are found in.

Laitman_931-03In the News (golos-ameriki): “Turn on the TV and see one problem after another, an endless number of problems. Fear, tension, depression. The feeling that everything has gone out of control. Maharishi used to say: ‘The negativity is like darkness.’ Darkness – is the absence of light, the darkness does not need to be fought. You just have to turn on the light. Turn on the light, and darkness will go away. If you are able to illuminate your inner field of feelings and perceptions with bright light, you can say that you are a different person. Light banishes negativity. And you do not need a very large number of ‘fireflies.’ It is enough for just one percent of the population to significantly expand the field of positive. The world is currently hanging in a dark cloud of negativity. It is necessary to make an enormous effort to disperse the cloud.”

My Comment: In principle, this is what we are doing. But I think 600,000 bearers of Light will be sufficient for the whole world to be entirely illuminated with Light. And to begin with, dozens are enough!

Communism: Utopia Or Reality, Part 5

Laitman_083Sooner or later, humanity must become a happy society. However, this can be reached either through suffering or through awareness.

The path of awareness is an investigation of our final state, making it possible to plan for it, in other words, finding out how to become like it. Then we will have no need for a “stick” to drive us toward happiness.

How do we do it? The final state of all of nature is to bring itself to absolute harmony and balance, so people need to perceive themselves in the identical place, becoming like nature, an absolutely balanced system.

But so far, we are on the path of suffering; feel it for yourself. What is it that is stopping us?

In nature, there are two opposing forces that tend toward equilibrium. For every positive or negative event, there is its corresponding opposite: plus – minus, north – south, and so forth. The laws of their combination are the formulas that we study in physics (inanimate matter), in botany (plant matter), and in zoology (animal matter).

Yet we do not understand the  human. There is insufficient knowledge and opportunity because when we study the nature of the previous stages of development (still, vegetative, and animate), we investigate it from top down, from the higher level. If we are on the same level as that which we must investigate, then we cannot say anything about it ourselves because we are on the same level. So we introduce errors because of our relationship to the object of investigation—us.

In order to know our nature, we need to rise to a higher level, and this is not possible. We learn a little psychology, but it cannot be called science because science is the study of nature at all levels from top to bottom. So, the human level is inaccessible to us. We do not know about ourselves.

Here we have the support of the wisdom of Kabbalah, which explains how one can rise to the next level and investigate our level from there. Studying Kabbalah before ascending to the next level—called Adam (Man) or “speaking”—we can discover what a person really is and how it to reach that level.

According to Kabbalah, the way by which to realize ourselves on the next level, investigating ourselves from there and beginning to behave in our world, is self-education. This means that we must raise ourselves to a new sensory, spiritual level of relationship and community, which is defined by the simple condition of “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”

This phrase speaks about the law of existence for all humanity as one single entity. When a person begins to get close to this state, it will be clear that this is the true communism that people once dreamed of.
