What Is Jealousy?

543.02Question: Does jealousy have a root? Where does it come from?

Answer: In our world jealousy comes from the egoistic feeling of “I have this, it is mine, and I receive pleasure from this, but no one else does. Do not take my bone, or I will bite you.”

But as soon as I become indifferent to this object, let others grab it, take it, and tear it apart into shreds, then I am no longer interested in it. And if it does interest me, then it is only from my point of view so the other person will not feel better than me.

Spiritual states are built only on the combination and mutual participation in receiving the upper light. The female part cannot be without the male part and the male without the female one.

Question: Is there no such thing as jealousy in spirituality?

Answer: What is jealousy? Jealousy of whom or what? There is jealousy only of the Creator.

What Is the Power of Thought?

229Question: What is the power of thought and how can we use it? From the Kabbalist’s perspective, what should one think about every moment?

Answer: The power of thought is very great because with it we can bring big corrections into the universe, into its forces and their interaction with each other. This happens only if we direct the entire power of our heart to the good connection between people. Then it multiplies many times. In this way, we begin to correctly awaken all forces of nature.

Question: What is so special about the power of the heart?

Answer: The power of love, the power of kindness, the power of good connection.

Question: Can a person awaken it or generate it within himself in any way?

Answer: Yes. He can awaken this power within himself; connect it with the powers of other people, and in this way advance toward the improvement of the world.

“Do dogs help autistic children?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Do dogs help autistic children?

Autistic children tend to withdraw and find it difficult to communicate with people around them. They feel lonely, and dogs are indeed one way to help them.

Autistic children often develop special relationships with their dogs, patting, hugging and taking care of them with patience and devotion.

What does a dog give an autistic child that human beings do not?

When a dog gets used to a person, it is willing to accept them as a superior, both as owner and as friend, without considering whether or not they are autistic.

The dog is no friend at the level of empathizing with the child’s distress, but there is a common feeling and sensitivity between the child and the dog.

It is this sensitivity that human relations are greatly lacking in our present-day world.

We can thus learn from dogs the importance of increasing our sensitivity to each other. Dogs feel a lot, demand a lot, and they want to be loyal. The latter, however, is the main trait we can learn from dogs: loyalty—to our friends and to our owner, i.e., to the laws of nature that guide our every desire, thought and motion. The more loyal we become to caring about others and developing an attitude of giving, similar to nature’s giving force, the more we would balance ourselves with nature and experience more harmony, peace and happiness fill our lives.

How to Find a Soul Mate?

294.2Question: How does a person find a soul mate?

Answer: It all depends on the person himself and not on who he finds.

If you like someone as a person and see that he is serious and responsive, then everything depends on you. Try to treat him as gently as possible, and see if he understands you and if you begin to feel and support each other. The most important thing is mutual support and the need for each other.

Question: How can you understand that you are with the right person?

Answer: Try to be kind, helpful, and supportive. You will see how that person reacts to this and what he does in response: sincerely and wholeheartedly wants to support and preserve these states or takes it for granted as something that basically does not matter.

The Opportunity to Create by Yourself

546.02Question: The Creator created the creation. How did He plant freewill in us? How can it be activated?

Answer: On the combination of two opposite qualities. In our world, there is only one quality—egoism.

When an altruistic quality begins to develop in a person and it is opposed to the egoistic one in him, then it is between them that the possibility of freewill arises.

This is a difficult state. It appears when a person is able to rise above his ego with the help of the second quality, but there is no preference for one over the other in anything. This is where the opportunity to create by yourself appears.

We can not imagine how it is possible for some intelligent movements to appear from an absolutely empty place over which two forces rule, but absolutely equally. Where do I choose? Either I am rolling the dice, or I am already predisposed to one thing in advance and not to another. It is unclear what is being done here.

But this is absolutely not the case. There is no rolling the dice, there is no chance and there is no decision in advance. We have no way to recreate this structure where two opposing forces collide together and form an empty space in which you are free.

Then what do you even have? Let us say this freedom leads you to the right decision. But how if it is already correct and predetermined?! That is, our brain does not understand this. Our logic does not work here. But there is no deception either or some kind of game with a person.

We will wait. We will get there. We will see. Anyway, no one will be able to describe this condition in advance. It belongs to another degree, to another dimension.

Question: So I really have a feeling that this has never existed and only now is my choice?

Answer: Of course! There are a lot of states that you did not have before, but now you have formed, in general, in spirituality. The Creator created the possibility of such a state, but not the state itself.

Question: Do you have an example from your personal practice when you had such a choice?

Answer: This cannot be explained. This is faith above reason, in general, all sorts of similar phrases that will not give anything.

It is an element that forms the steps leading to the goal of creation. A staircase is built from such small blocks, which we climb.

Question: How can we not miss this freedom of choice?

Answer: There is no way to skip it.

Question: So, will the work with freewill take place only on a spiritual level?

Answer: Yes, otherwise no. There is no second force in corporeality, altruistic, which counteracts egoism, between which you find your freewill.

“What is your view on unemployment due to AI?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is your view on unemployment due to AI?

The more AI will develop, the more people will become jobless.

It is indeed a major problem, and it will increasingly show us that we do not know what we should do with ourselves. People will go crazy if they have nothing to occupy themselves with.

We will thus need to create fictitious jobs. We have a big planet, so we should start arranging it so that it becomes more and more pleasant to live in, like a big garden.

Another area of utmost importance that we will regularly need to engage in is education.

The more unemployment will rise, the more we will need to upgrade our learning about the world we live in, to know why we are alive—the meaning of life. We currently neither ask nor answer the question about our life’s meaning.

Why are we here?

We are here in this world so that we rise above our egoistic nature, which pits us up against each other in an ongoing friction and competition. By rising above our egoistic nature and developing new connections of mutual love and care, we will then come to understand who we really are, what life is, and what is life’s ultimate meaning and purpose. We will then also discover how to truly live happily and peacefully. I hope AI will also help us move toward our finding the meaning of life.

The Purpose of Evolution

600.04Question: Let’s say a simple rural guy comes to the city. Suddenly due to circumstances, he unexpectedly becomes a star. In a matter of seconds the whole nation finds out about him.

He begins to look at people differently and behave differently so that he can be seen from a different side. What is this game of egoism? How do these transformations occur in a person?

Answer: The fact is that you are talking about some small animal interests. Go to an ordinary psychologist; he will tell you everything.

Comment: But surely this has some spiritual background.

My Response: What background?! To bring all egoists to the realization that they are insignificant and that life is worthless, that everything ends without any right interest, so that they finally ask: “What is the meaning of my life?” That is all. Evolution is going exactly to this.

Now humanity will be given a couple more “final chord” blows on the head, so that everyone will ask “What for?” and begin to listen.

Comment: But human egoism goes through certain stages of development: honor, power, fame, knowledge.

My Response: Yes, everyone develops in their own direction.

“Is peace between Israel and Palestinians out of reach?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is peace between Israel and Palestinians out of reach?

Peace between Israel and any other nation depends on the Jewish people being at peace with each other.

In the past, Israeli Jews were once united in times of war. Today, even war fails to unite us.

There is no need for us to fight anyone. We will finish ourselves off with our own hands.

Until we understand that everything depends on uniting above our divisions and discovering a common love, we will have no peace and calm with our neighbors.

How does it work?

It works because we are a special nation that was established not on biological ties, but on achieving the idea of “love your friend as yourself,” and it is that example of unity that will let us function as a healthy organ in the world.

If we achieve such love for each other, then Palestinians will have no drive to fight us, and in general, the hatred against us will subside.

If we wish to be at peace with Palestinians and the entire world, we first need to be at peace with each other.
