What Gives Rise To A Thought?

Question: What do thoughts relate to—desire or intention?

Answer: A thought arises when there is a contradiction between what is desired and what you have. The difference between the desired and the actual gives rise to a thought. Otherwise, it would not have arisen.

If I feel what I want, then I have no thought. I have some kind of fulfilment in desire and that is it. If I feel my desire is completely different than the one that is in me now, then the difference between the desired and the reality gives rise to thought.

This thought, in turn, gives rise to a certain action: how to achieve that vector of forces that would lead me from this state to a more desirable one.

Question: Suppose I am hungry and immediately receive some fulfillment, then I don’t even have a thought. If I am hungry and there is no such filling around me, no food, I start thinking about how can I find it?

Answer: Yes, as they say: “love and hunger rule the world.” The absence of the desired generates thought, development. Therefore, it is said, “they give two unbeaten for a beaten one.” When a person receives punishment or suffering, it develops him.

Theory of the Governance of the World: Nature

Comment: From the point of view of Kabbalah, the Creator and nature are one and the same. Baal HaSulam in his article “The Peace” explains five theories of the governance of the world, how throughout history, humanity was changing its view in relation to the Creator.

The first theory is “Nature,” according to which,

“…they came to assume that the Creator, who created all these, who watches mightily over His reality lest any of it be cancelled, is mindless and senseless.

“… And for that reason, they believe that there is no one to be angry at, to pray to, or to justify oneself to.”

My Comment: This is a very good theory. In fact, we see that this is so.

We are before the immutable law of nature and we need to study it well. By studying it, we begin to understand that everything depends on our compliance with this law, not on how it changes. After all, it changes with respect to us in order to change us. That’s all!

It means that the law is immutable. Nature always moves to connection in order to manifest itself with regard to us in ever greater integral connection.

We cannot talk about nature itself. We can only talk about our perception of it because we do not know what is happening outside of our five senses. It is like a newborn baby who does not see, hear, or feel. Then gradually the baby begins to show its senses, to engage with the world.

We live in some kind of space, and this space is also our sensation. We perceive it with our five senses; that is, something in us is reflected from it. We do not know what is really happening.

Question: Can we say that everything we see around us is the Creator?

Answer: No. We can call the Creator everything that is behind this: a law, force, thought, and intention.

Question: It is not what I see in my five sensory organs?

Answer: No. I see everything around me is changing. The one who changes everything is called the Creator.

You can call Him, as Baal HaSulam writes, a senseless law or, on the contrary, a law that is full of feelings and intentions, which may or may not change depending on my attitude toward Him.

Question: How do we learn to live not in the present?

Answer: We never live in the present. Even if I say that now I want something, it means that I already want something that might be realized in a future moment. We always exist as if in the future.

How can we learn to live in the future? We should just create it.

The spiritual future is created by a greater connection between us. The stronger it is, the faster we reach the following spiritual states. We need to think about it.

If we mainly deal with this and with all earthly problems only to the extent it is necessary, then we will suddenly feel that from that spiritual state to which we wish to advance, we also provide ourselves with material things because the upper Light will shine upon us in corporeality too.

Remark: Black holes have been verified. Time stops there; the laws of physics do not apply. The gravitational field is so strong that it consumes everything, including the light.

My Comment: The laws of physics of this world do not work there.

Question: What does this knowledge give us?

Answer: It lets us understand that there is a border for time, space, and motion. Completely foreign laws are in effect there that we cannot approach or study.

That is, we can guess based on what we know that everything is different there. But how different? In a few more centuries, we still will be no closer to discovering this because we are standing behind the radio-telescopes that gave us a picture of that black hole.

We are trying to research this phenomenon with our egoistic minds that are quite mechanical rather than quantum, and therefore, nothing will come from it.

In order to perform a serious study of what lies beyond, of what happens inside the black hole, where totally different laws of physics are at play, we too need to be different.

We have only caught a glimpse of our universe to this point of transition to some other space. This is the boundary of our attainment. We call it “the border.” It is the boundary of time and space. Neither exist there.

We have no knowledge of whatever lies inside these black holes. One thing is clear: everything disappears there for us. It would be interesting to see how we would appear from up there if we looked at this world through this black eye.

Remark: This would be interesting, indeed! To look, from a different dimension, at our own.

My Comment: We would appear to be very primitive, below the speed of light. It is the most primitive state in all of nature—existence below the speed of light. This means that I am completely under the power of mechanical light. I am overpowered by it and controlled by it; I am nothing. I do not exist because my “I” cannot be felt.

Question: What will bring us to the understanding that when a person changes, so does the world?

Answer: When our world becomes a black hole where everything disappears.

Comment: When will humanity arrive at this state?

Answer: We will arrive at it through the recognition of evil, which we are gradually approaching. We can feel this evolution.

Question: You called our world illusory. Why correct it if it is so?

Answer: You are right; we do not correct it. We correct ourselves, our egoism. The world is in our perception as a reflection of our egoism.

The world is what our ego draws for us. As soon as we begin to push our way through the world to the Creator, we will increasingly feel the upper world.

We will begin to see within the framework of our world the acting forces of the upper world, and gradually our world will disappear from our perception. Its picture remains, but the forces that act behind it will increasingly manifest. Thus, our consciousness and attitude toward the world will begin to change

Question: Can a person with a great desire, read the thoughts of other people?

Answer: Reading thoughts is a material thing. I cannot say that it is appreciated, because at the same time you catch the thoughts of other people at the everyday level. But this is possible because the thoughts on our level are material.

You can take a person by the hand and feel his thoughts, as psychics do. But what will that give you, other than tricks? Nothing. Some people have such increased sensitivity, and so they advertise themselves in such a way.

In general, I would not advise doing this, it is a pity to make such an effort. Efforts should be directed conversely, to dissolving in the group and by doing so, revealing the Creator.

Question: Is it possible to influence someone’s thoughts if I have a strong desire?

Answer: Of course. And how! Such things are known to us since the days of the KGB. By the way, they are used by all intelligence services in the world. But why do we need it? As it is at the level of our world, these are purely egoistic, mutual influences on each other.

I would not want you to think about it at all because the influence of thoughts leads to the subordination of each other, that is, to the destruction of the world.

Question: What determines the future of a person?

Answer: Undoubtedly, everybody is interested in the future. At every moment of time, it bursts into the present and turns into the present.

Therefore, the future is constantly connected to us and determines our present. If we know that something is about to happen, even not very soon, we nevertheless expect it and our state in the present depends on it, especially our mood, our attitude to the world and to life. Therefore, the future is a factor that significantly affects our lives.

Question: Is this what distinguishes a person from an animal?

Answer: Animals sense the future, but not to the same extent as a person and they are not so susceptible to it.

The future of a person depends on the way he adjusts himself in the present. After all, in fact, there is no future. If we live passively then we determine the future, what it will be, meaning depending on other people, circumstances and everything else.

When we live spiritually, there is neither future nor present. We somehow can talk about the past, because we were in a state when time was flowing, some kind of changes were happening within us. However, if I am now in the present, I can clearly make of myself such a created being that has no future.

In our world it sounds very unpleasant, “You have no future,” and to say this to a person means to kill him. Yet, in the wisdom of Kabbalah, this is not so. You have no future because you are going to create it by yourself now.

Go and do it, sculpt it, draw a picture of it and that is what it will be. And when will it be? Whenever you want.

However, if there is no past, present, and future, no world at all, and it is all just depicted to us by our qualities on the white background of the upper light, then what is the meaning of the question “What determines the future of a person?” It depends on a person!

And not just in the way we pathetically state, “A person makes his own future!” No. The fact is that each person knowing this algorithm of influencing himself, makes himself and the future because his internal desires create him and the external desires – the world around him. Therefore, the future depends only on him, and with all its elements and details.

It is not easy to come to this. However, we are capable of it and someday we will be able to do it. In the meantime, it seems to us that this is a fantasy.

When we deal with the spiritual world, we need to understand that we are entering a new realm where none of our regular organs of perception are of use. We must develop the organs of perception in a completely different way instead of the five corporeal sensory organs: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and tactile senses.

These five senses also exist in animals, partly in plants, and even slightly in non-living objects of our world. We usually call the bodily organs of sensation “animate” because we ourselves are on an animate degree. There is nothing offensive about it; it is just a particular level.

But in the spiritual world, they are completely different because they represent feelings above our desire to receive, to feel, to enjoy. These senses work in the opposite direction: to give, to delight, to fill, and therefore we do not understand them.

The transition from the sensation of our world to the sensation of the upper world consists of the fact that we must pass the so-called barrier—Machsom. There, there are other five senses, which are built on the opposite principle—on bestowal. The more I give of myself, the more I feel the world outside me.

That is, the corporeal sensory organs are built on the fact that they give me a sense of the world within myself, how much this world can enter into me, into the eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, and tactile sensations. But when I start coming “out of myself,” I feel a world that has no impact on my feelings. It does not have to enter into me or fill me. I don’t perceive it in the measure of my internal qualities, but only outside of myself—just as it is.

Here a completely new state appears, which is called the attainment of the upper world. It is based on two qualities: the quality of the screen, that is, the rejection of all reception for myself, and the transfer out of myself when entering others.

Question: The original sources say that the reality Kabbalists describe is beyond time, space, and motion. What is this reality and where is it?

Answer: Time, space, and motion are the parameters of our world, which is called the imaginary world. They appear in us because of uncorrected egoistic desires.

If we correct our desires, raise them to the level of bestowal, altruistic actions, then they lose those properties due to which time slows down to the level of our world, suddenly physical space appears, etc.

Therefore, concepts of time, space, and movement depend only on our egoistic desires. As soon as we rise above our egoism into the spiritual world, these parameters will disappear; they do not exist there.

In the spiritual world, time is a change in our desires from less altruism to more. Space and motion are the movements from lower, weaker qualities of bestowal to stronger ones.
