Our World And This World

laitman_547.03Question: In Baal HaSulam’s writings we see the concepts “our world” and “this world.” What is the difference between them?

Answer: Our world is what we as if feel in our qualities. This world is how Kabbalists speak about the lower degree, which at the same time is called “our world.”

It all depends on the observer. If we observe what is happening around us, we call it “our world.” If Kabbalah speaks about this as the lowest degree of the worlds, then calls it “this world.”

laitman_531.03Language Is a Sense of Communication

Baal HaSulam writes that a Kabbalist must use absolutely accurate definitions. Where can we find them?

Here, the law of root and branch arises in all worlds, in all states, in each and every one of us. It is from there that I can take clear, accurate definitions from nature’s point of view. You also will take your definitions from there and we will compare them with each other. From this comparison, we can correctly understand each other rather than speak with the same words but with a different meaning.

In our world, each one ascribes different meanings to the same words because each of us differs from the other. How can we combine everyone’s complex internal states in order to begin to understand each other and overlap each other so that these concepts will combine and give us a clear idea as to what extent we are talking and feeling the same thing? This is a problem with language.

Language is a sense of communication with each other when you and I feel the same thing. If we do not, then we clearly feel the difference in our sensations.

laitman_227Adhere to the Language of Kabbalists

Baal HaSulam, ”The Essence of the Wisdom of Kabbalah”: Any reasonable person will understand that when dealing with spiritual matters, much less with Godliness, we have no words or letters with which to contemplate. This is because our whole vocabulary is but combinations of the letters of our senses and imagination. …

It is particularly so where one needs to find some rationale in these words to help one in the negotiations customary in the research of the wisdom. Here the sage must use rigorously accurate definitions for the eyes of the observers.

If we expressed in our words everything we feel, each of us will create our own language, our own encyclopedia, etc., and we would be unable to communicate with each other. Therefore, what we can and should do is take the words, expressions, and definitions based on our essence.

This is exactly what Kabbalah does. It says that a person consists of desire that is divided into five kinds: zero, one, two, three, and four. In these five types of desires, we feel various positive and negative fulfillments, and everyone has them. Thus, everything consists only of desire.

Therefore, if we adhere to a clear Kabbalistic language, we will not go astray. We will speak the same language. It was so before the shattering in ancient Babylon when all people spoke one language, Aramaic, in which The Book of Zohar is written.

The Aramaic language is good because it comes from the essence of nature itself. The five levels of desire, from which each of us consists, generate five definitions. This language is based on them.

laitman_744Attaining the Upper Light

Question: If the world is a reaction to forces, does it mean that I am also only a reaction? If this is so, then what is this I that is attaining all this?

Answer: Indeed, I am a reaction to what I produce. I feel myself as one form or another.

My head, body, feelings, heart, and so on are all my automatic, natural, instinctive reactions to what affects me and eventually gives me a sense of myself, my body, my thoughts, and feelings.

I do not know who I am. I am inconceivable just as the Creator is inconceivable. We attain only our reactions to something around us.

Then, as we attain more, we will see that in fact, we are attaining the upper light. It gives us a sense of ourselves and the world around us. Gradually it will come to us.

Laitman_917.02Why do we see the world as distorted?

Question: I heard that a person perceives reality and the world as a real distortion. Is it true?

Answer: Yes, of course. We only perceive everything in our sensory organs, and since they are distorted, uncorrected, and shattered, then naturally the world also looks like this.

The fact is that the world around us is perfect, but we do not perceive it as perfect because we feel it in our shattered, defective sensory organs. So we can say nothing about the world itself, but only about the way we perceive it.

Our method is in correcting our perception. Then I will see the world as perfect to the extent that I correct myself. Nothing else is required. I do not need to correct the world. On the contrary, in Kabbalah, it is considered a completely wrong move. Look how people there have been and currently are correctors of the world throughout the history of humanity.

However, if we approach the world in the way the wisdom of Kabbalah advises, then by correcting ourselves we will see that, apparently, the world around us is ideal, perfect, infinite, and eternal. There is nothing that needs to be done in it other than to correct ourselves.

Therefore, the entire wisdom is built on giving a person advice on how to correct oneself. How to make oneself corrected, integral. Otherwise, we will sink into even bigger problems and greater incorrect perception of the world.

laitman_625.02Rise Above Corporeal Senses

Baal HaSulam, “The Essence of the Wisdom of Kabbalah,”: However, it is quite sufficient, for this is the rule: “All that is measured and extracted from His Providence so as to be realized into the nature of Creation, is completely satisfactory.” Similarly, one cannot wish for a sixth finger on one hand, because the five fingers are quite sufficient.

We are arranged so that it is enough for us to have five fingers on our hand. Would it bother us if we had a sixth finger? For example, a monkey has a special finger to grasp branches. It would be nice for us to have it too. Yet, I do not need it anymore! I do not feel any need for one more finger. It is the same everywhere, in all my senses I do not feel that I am missing something.

Telescopes and microscopes are only quantitative enlargements of sensory organs, their expansion. But if I use all my senses, I do not feel that I am lacking an additional sensory organ. I can say that I would like to hear ultra and infra sonic waves like dolphins. But all this comes from nature, this is just an expansion and not new sensory organs.

Thus, everything we have in us does not cause any feelings of lack, it is quite enough for us, and therefore we are not developing further. The only way to develop is to rise above our senses: not how much I will receive in my sensory organs, but how much I can work with them in the direction of bestowal.

Here I specifically start to feel not myself, but the world around me, I rise above myself. Here is a completely different science about the world—the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question: What if five fingers are enough for me? I just live like that.

Answer: When I live in what is enough for me, it is the animate level. If I want to understand the source of everything that is happening, then nothing other than Kabbalah will help.

Laitman_011Expanding the Limits of Perception

Baal HaSulam, “The Essence of the Wisdom of Kabbalah”: Now you can easily conclude that all the names and appellations that appear in books of Kabbalah are indeed real and factual, although we have no attainment in the subject matter whatsoever. It is so because those who engage in it have the complete satisfaction with their inclusive perception of its ultimate wholeness, meaning a mere perception of actions, prompted and born of the association of the Upper Light and its perceivers.

The fact is that there is a limit to our perception. The wisdom of Kabbalah says that you constantly attain deep, wide, enter all vector spaces, and fully reveal them. However, you nevertheless attain only the reality that fills you. And the reality that does not fill you, you do not attain and do not even know whether it exists or not.

Here the question arises: How do Kabbalists know that there is some other reality? Did they attain it themselves? If so, then why don’t they speak about it as yet another additional level of attainment of reality?

It turns out that they place riddles before us or they want to intrigue us somehow, as if they say: “There is something here but I am not telling you.” However, this is not their approach.

We have to reach the quality of bestowal, the quality of the Creator. The Creator positions Himself in relation to us as bestowing, loving, and uniting, rising above us despite our egoism. We, by rising above our egoism, can explore Him, feel Him, and become similar to Him.

How can we make it so that we do not just feel the Creator because of our equivalence to Him, but feel Him not from our own Kelim (Vessels) and qualities? This is a problem.

Racing Against Growing Egoism

Laitman_115.05Question: Is the attainment of the future state in the present possible because the future already exists in spirituality and I just reveal it?

Answer: There is no present, past and future. It is all determined in our egoism. Therefore, we feel these parameters in us, in our qualities, and in our desires.

To the extent that our desires are corrected, we will begin to feel the corrected world and as if climb it. If not, we will feel the world falling more and more because our egoism is constantly growing.
It all depends on the extent to which we race against growing egoism.

New Life 1152 – Perceiving The Reverse World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

It is possible to get out of the body, replace my limited, egoistic perception, and feel a different reality based on giving. All of reality consists of me—my qualities and what I feel—and it changes when my desires change. We can transcend our egoistic perception by rising above it and developing senses for absorbing reality in a new way. When we exit from the perception of self-benefit to the perception of the benefit-of-others, we reveal an opposite world. Giving becomes precious and the upper world becomes tangible when we develop our mind and feelings according to the law of equivalence of form.

Flying To A Beautiful Future

laitman_928Question: How does the light decide who is worthy to cross the Machsom (barrier)?

Answer: The light operates upon us simultaneously, and according to our strength, purity, and similarity to the light, we aspire to the goal in our own individual way, at different speeds.

Try to be as close as possible to the light in your qualities and you will literally begin to fly, as if through the air, to this beautiful future.

Question: Can a Kabbalist, with the force of his screen and thought, travel in time: backward, forward, like in a time machine?

Answer: Traveling in time means having a screen. Yes, it is possible. But again, what for? There can be nothing egoistic; this is not like some kind of corporeal journey: I want to fly above the clouds.

Here I am referring to taking off with the force of my will, tremendous internal tension, by bringing myself closer to the upper qualities of bestowal and love, to a universal greater distribution. In this way, I can fly. These are all very serious efforts.
