Question: What is the most important thing for you to convey to your students?

Answer: The correct worldview: a view of the world, life, a person, and an epoch.

This is the most important thing for me—to position a person toward the right view of his life. To do this, I need to more or less explain to him the picture of the world in which he exists and how it can be changed in the best direction, with what, by what means, and to what this picture of the world should be brought—because it depends on us.

The world is a derivative of our perception. It turns out that we don’t live in the world, but the world lives in us. And this is what you need to convey to a person—that you make your world, you create it, you paint it inside yourself! It’s not easy to get to this point. To start relating to the world like this is a revolution, a person’s very serious internal, spiritual revolution.

It is necessary to bring people to this, to draw their attention to the fact that the world is not what they feel. The world is a derivative of how they relate to it, that is, you can remake and readjust yourself to the perception of another world. The world does not have its own shape, its own form. This is a picture that you can program. And so you can build the world you live in.

Question: And will the world I live in immediately change for me?

Answer: Of course. It will change according to your wishes, your qualities, and your efforts. That is, you create the world.

Comment: Now, in your daily Kabbalah lessons, you have put aside for a while such texts as The  Study of the Ten Sefirot and The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, and we are studying articles of Baal HaSulam, currently “Peace in the World,” “The Peace,” and so on. Please explain this turnaround.

My Response: This is necessary in order to understand that indeed the world is purely a reflection of our attitude to it.

We exist in a world of upper light. And to the extent that we approach and adapt to this light, we will feel it and feel it in various forms. And these forms should progress depending on our inner change and self-improvement. That’s what I need to bring a person to.

Do you want to see the world differently? Let’s do it!

But for this we must first acquire some knowledge and some tools in order to understand how we perceive the world and how and to what kind of world we can change it.

Because the world itself has no particular quality and no particular form. If we do not interfere in it, then all of us people see the world the same because we all have an egoistic desire and it tunes us to this mutual picture of the world. Therefore we have a common perception, a common language, communication, interaction, and so on.

But if I begin to understand that the world is what I draw in myself, and in this way I see it outside of myself, then I can already work on an individual picture of the world, the arrangement of the world. And here we are already entering a completely different area. That is, we begin to understand why we are in such a deteriorating world, why it is felt by us in this way, and what we can do in order to begin to feel it differently.

To do this we must readjust internally and come to a state where we will feel in our five bodily sense organs one picture of the world, like everyone else around us.

And in the five organs that we will gradually create in ourselves, we will feel another world, the so-called upper world. We will be able to feel the difference between them, how the upper world paints a picture of this world in us, and how we can rise from this world to the upper world. These are the states that we must begin to realize in ourselves; they should gradually become closer and closer to us.

Therefore our most important task is to go through certain stages of spiritual preparation, and then begin to change ourselves, and correspondingly observe how we change the picture of the world around us in accordance with our internal changes, as a consequence of our internal changes.

The fact that this world is given to us in such a state is a certain picture given to us, perceived by us in our primordial egoistic qualities, which are also gradually changing. They change for everyone, more or less, at the same time. Therefore we observe humanity and inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature as gradually changing. But this development is very slow, over thousands of years, and it is purely egoistic.

If we rise above our egoism, we will begin to enter into completely different sensations of the world, and we will already see a different world, a different picture, different interactions in ourselves, as it were, independent of the external picture.

We will no longer see inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature and man, but rather the world of forces—that which actually exists. And our world is also the forces that influence us and create such projections of this world in us that seem alive and existing to us as given in our sensations.

But in fact it is important for us to start interacting with the world of forces; that is what I have to bring people to. They don’t know it yet, but they need to be prepared for it. Preparation takes many years. I think that today it is already possible to talk about this, and we should come close to it literally within the next short while, maybe even in a few weeks.

Therefore I do not want to engage in sheer mechanics or some kind of abstract science where we draw some charts on a piece of paper to depict interactions between physical forces that we do not understand.

And when we are able to reproduce and realize these forces in ourselves, then what we study will be our theoretical part, which is necessary for the implementation of our spiritual actions. That is what I want to bring people to.

Therefore I am in no hurry to break into the very science of Kabbalah. In order to break into it practically, we need to hold certain forces of nature that are not yet in us today; they are not yet manifested. We need to start revealing them and learn how to really work with them.

This is the answer to what we must come to.

My Response: This is absolutely true. If you tamed, that is if you brought some of your properties, into a person or even into an animal, then you are responsible for those properties that now exist in him from you. And you are thus responsible for it.

Comment: The world is now shuddering from a new variant of the coronavirus. The world knows almost nothing about the new variant of the coronavirus and it is already causing irreparable damage to the well-being of people around the world.

It has deprived them of the confidence that the worst was over, and this has slowed down the exit from the economic crisis after two years of the pandemic. It has robbed the world of certainty. My Response: No! There will be no growth! We will quietly slide down, just slip down, because the world psychologically does not need any progress. It no longer needs any economic growth. No! It’s best to have nothing at all.

Question: And what will happen then? How will the world live in this case?

Answer: It will live quietly, quietly, and even more quietly. What we have is good for us.

Question: When will the lofty meaning of life rise to at least the fourth, third, or second place?

Answer: If something changes, it will change only under the influence of very acute events.

Question: In your clips when you talk about an upper force, about the Creator, about goodness, about nature, about connecting people with each other, and about good relations, what do you expect?

Answer: I am counting on suffering, when we—by our actions, by our way of life—will cause such suffering that we will not be able to turn away from it just like that, and that it will make us think about the meaning of suffering or, in other words, about the meaning of life because life will be filled with suffering.

Then we will begin to think whether we should live at all, whether we should suffer, whether it all makes sense, and what we should do with ourselves. And then we will start asking serious questions and trying to answer them.

We will come to the conclusion that our life is wrong and we must find the right style of life so that everyone feels good and so that life itself does not end but rather comes to its top result. That’s another story. But people will start listening.

Comment: Meaning you do not fade at the end of life, but on the contrary…

My Response: No, of course not! During this life you go to the next degree of development; that is, you rise from the animal level to the level of Man, Adam.

Question: Why does it not fascinate a person?

Answer: It is at a completely different level of attainment. This requires completely different feelings and intelligence. And neither our brains nor our hearts work for this.

Comment: But even for our inner peace, it’s good that you don’t fade, but rather blossom.

My Response: It sounds nice, but nothing more. It’s been replaced with religion, maybe a little philosophy. But in our time, when everything is packed with television, travel, and other things, which a person does not have today, he does not need that.

Question: But if, one way or another, people must come through the suffering to whatever you say, then why was this whole program launched on humanity, this whole program of entertainment?

Answer: It is in order to realize the evil of our nature and what it leads to so we can go against our nature.

Comment: Back in school when we studied food chains we learned that when a seed falls into the soil, the soil sustains the growing grass, a hare eats the grass, a wolf eats the hare… If there is no grass, there is no hare, and so on and so forth. If all sparrows were exterminated,  crops would be eaten by parasites and millions of people would die of hunger.

Today almost the entire system of chains has been broken. For example, new computers are assembled in China, but chips come from Taiwan and Malaysia, displays arrive from South Korea, and some parts are sourced from Europe. If you need 20 parts, but have only 19, there will be nothing.

There is a warning that 2022 will be even worse. They clearly see it coming, but can do nothing about it. They feel an onset of something! Some agricultural leaders predict that they will shut down certain countries and eat only what they have nationally.

My Response: No, it won’t happen. We are so deeply interconnected with each other through fertilizers, pesticides, assembly, and processing everything. It won’t happen.

I think the majority of the world’s countries, especially the developed ones, will be unable to survive on their own. There is no such thing as a “closed cycle” today.

Question: What are we facing now?

Answer: Well, we are being forced. I am ready for anything except to share and cooperate. The worst thing is to depend on others!

Comment: I see. Our intellect is egoistic. But even an egoistic mind seeks safety. Still, we feel the need for communication and cooperation. We know the world is interconnected. I think everyone understands it today. Everyone!

My Response: Who will be cooperating? Who listens to whom? Bring heads of state together? No one will be able to agree with anyone on anything!

Question: Then, draw a picture of the future world for us please. When will we get there?

Answer: At some point we will get to the point where people realize that the Jews are at fault for everything. This is really so. We do not bring the world to the realization of evil and its correction.

I can’t keep silent since this is the most painful and urgent problem. You cannot replace it with anything.

Question: What shall we, the Jews, do for the world?

Answer: Rise above ourselves and show the world an example of unity. “Above ourselves” means above our egoism that is greater than anybody else’s.

Look at how we treat each other! It’s so hard for us to be together even when we are faced with great fear and external pressure. We cannot rise because the external pressure, the external hatred, pressures us.

We don’t stick together. Don’t you see what’s going on here in Israel? Nothing can help us. I can’t blame the government or local upbringing for that.

Comment: By and large, you can blame the Creator for that.

My Response: The Creator does His job. As to us, we must act against Him.

Comment: In other words, the Creator brings us against each other, cultivates our egoism more and more, but we have to act against Him.

My Response: That’s right! But we’re unable to.

Comment: Sooner or later, as you say, the responsibility of our people is to show the world an example of unity.

My Response: If we don’t realize this, there won’t be any “sooner or later.” It will go on and on. There is no set date. It won’t happen. It will only occur when the Jews realize their mission.

Question: What will make them realize it?

Answer: I don’t know. I cannot envision such a state! But it simply can’t be otherwise!

Suffering is constantly growing. Perhaps the realization of some things, but not yet no matter how much we write, no matter how much we talk about it.

Question: So one way or another, will it also come from above, but no one knows when?

Answer: Not from above. Everything, certainly, comes from above, but our reaction has to come from below. Our normal response is still missing.

Comment: So, your formula is simple: “The Jews have to show an example of unity” and then the world will be on the right path. Kabbalists knew it, you realize it, but only a few people in the world understand it.

My Response: Yes.

Question: So, how do you want to be heard? Tell me please how?! How?

Answer: We have to start screaming to the Creator! Crying to the Creator that people do not hear us. And He will help us, when we have a truly serious desire.

Even in Germany 80 years ago they stayed until the last moment and didn’t feel any danger. Nor do they feel it now or realize that so many things depend on it.

I think it will come to a point when the world will start demanding. We have to disseminate more and more the knowledge of Kabbalah, the wisdom of correction of the world, so that nations of the world demand from the Jews and the Jews will address the Creator for the sake of all of humanity.

Comment: Three people convicted of the same crime can receive completely different punishments. The first one might be given a suspended sentence; the second, two years in jail; and the third imprisoned for ten years. This is today’s reality.

A study was conducted that found that judges are more likely to give a suspended sentence in the morning or after a lunch break. Hungry judges are more severe. In England, when a local football [soccer in the US] team loses on Sunday, referees give tougher sentences on Monday.

In France, an analysis of six million sentences revealed that defendants were treated more leniently on judges’ birthdays. Even the weather influences a judge’s decision. As a result of a review of two hundred thousand immigration court decisions, it was found that on hot days the likelihood of obtaining political asylum is lower.

Who judges us?!

My Response: Who are the judges? Are they not humans? Of course they are. If the judge’s wife yelled at him in the morning, or his car was cut off on the highway, or something else happened, then naturally everything works differently inside him because he is human after all.

According to Kabbalah, according to the Torah, a judge is the highest category of human development. Therefore a judge can be a person who has completely risen above all his properties and feeling who can absolutely objectively understand and feel the other and judge him.

To judge means to weigh what in the things that happened to a person came to him from the Creator, and what, perhaps, from the person himself? And in fact, what is there from a person in general, then?

Otherwise how can you judge a person, take his life, throw it on the scales, and say…? You know, it is as if they throw a piece of meat on the scales in a store and say: 10 years, 15 years, and so on.

And the person goes to a place from which there may be no way out. And what happens to him there and what they do with him is totally incomprehensible.

Question: You spoke about a judge’s high standard. Do today’s judges feel responsible to some extent for passing such sentences?

Answer: They will have to face the consequences. There is also a problem in this, to what extent do they understand or not understand what they are doing and so on?

Question: That is, in any case, only the one who has risen above absolutely all calculations can become a judge, and it is impossible today, right?

Answer: Today it is completely impossible! There was a period when we lived as an ancient people in the age of Judges. But those were glorious people!

A person who appeared before the judge did not even have a thought that the judge could pass a sentence on that day that would be different from the previous day, and that I would want to go to this judge, and not that one. How could that be?! Such incomprehensible things happen in our world, and we agree to this.

It is the struggle for power among them, for jobs, and for positions.

Question: What do you think is the solution today? To replace a judge with a machine in which laws are embedded?

Answer: Yes. If we replaced it all with a machine, it would be much more objective.

Question: Will we ever reach the state of real judges?

Answer: I think that we will already get corrected along such a path that we will begin to move away from this meanness in which we exist, and therefore we will no longer need judges. We will be the ones to judge ourselves. Let us help each other. In general, let us rise up from below.

Comment: Why do altruists very often cause not gratitude, but resentment? Experts say, it is because we doubt their selflessness and see the calculation behind everything. Thus, the good deeds turn into a fat minus. Psychologists call this mass phenomenon “the syndrome of do-gooder derogation.”

It is believed that the most reliable way to avoid belittling good deeds is to do them in secret. If others accidentally find out about them, and this will eventually have a positive impact on your reputation, just consider it a bonus. Oscar Wilde said very beautifully: “The nicest feeling in the world is to do a good deed anonymously and have somebody find out.”

My Response: Yes. Others “accidentally” find out, in quotation marks.

Question: Does it mean that our world is built in such a way that we cannot do any altruistic action?

Answer: We can’t in any way. This is our nature. We can only make a mess everywhere, we use, break, and violate. We cannot act in any other way. Therefore we must think about the way to limit ourselves reasonably to such an extent that we violate everything around us as little as possible.

This is possible only through educating a person.

Question: Does a good deed at the level of our world exist?

Answer: A good deed at the level of our world is when we treat our world as our home, common to all of us, and we are like one family, and we take care of everyone.

If a person has such an attitude, then of course we will put this world in order. We have passed some peak of excessive consumerism, destruction, and distortion of everything possible, and now we have to put it all in order a little, i.e., limit ourselves in everything that is not necessary.

Question: Can a person come to this?

Answer: Nature will force him. There is such a thing as necessary and sufficient. Mutual restriction by all of us, which is voluntary and accepted by each of us in order to make our planet comfortable for ourselves and future generations, is necessary.

Comment: But people say: “This is what we want.” There are many such movements.

My Response: They do not really do anything. We cannot do it by force and we cannot do it by shouting in the squares either.

Question: How can we do it?

Answer: By educating people! All these environmentalists and Greenpeace only create a lot of noise and cause hatred and distrust.

Question: What should be the basis of this education?

Answer: To turn all of humanity into a family and the entire Earth into one comfortable apartment for everyone, into our home.

Nature will force us to do this. We are in such a state. Perhaps we will go through something else. For example, there could be a world war and half of humanity or most of it will be destroyed. It will come to this anyway. Nature brings everything to balance.

Question: Do you realize that this is a very long educational process considering who a person is?

Answer: This is a long process, but it depends on the understanding of the need for it.

Question: Who can be a teacher in such schools, such universities of life?

Answer: One who has risen a little above his egoistic natural level can be a teacher.

Question: Psychologists, religions, and spiritual movements often tag pride as the greatest evil. Pride is behind insults, diseases, wars, and all kinds of sufferings. Author Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth contends that there are 41 evidences of pride, which include: self-infallibility, a patronizing attitude to others, a sense of self exclusivity, feeling like a victim, bragging, the ability to put an opponent in his place, and so on. All these evidence pride within us, but in disguise.

Why is pride given to a person?

Answer: This is our main quality!

This is precisely our egoism, which supposedly wants to raise a person above others. Pride is given in order for me to realize how sinful, vicious, insignificant, stupid, weak, etc. I am. It is in order for me to understand in all my actions and thoughts, that is, in my mind and desires, that if I want to do the right thing, I must act only by the force of connection with the Creator.

Question: Does it mean that it is not evil, but rather good?

Answer: Of course! It was created to show us how insignificant we are if we are under the control of pride.

Comment: Psychology and religions say that it is the greatest evil. Yet you, after all, say that this is the greatest good.

My Response: Evil leads us to absolute good. It is what the Creator created: “I created evil and gave the Torah, the upper light, to correct it.” So, go and correct yourself.

The Creator created pride so that we would realize our insignificance in it, and would want by all means to get rid of it, and therefore, to find strength, to find the mind to turn to the Creator so that He would do it. Thus, pride leads us to the Creator, helps us find a connection with Him, and allows us to reach the height of the Creator.

Question: What does pride turn into in this case?

Answer: Into complete agreement with the Creator. There is nothing left of it but joy in obtaining the greatness of the Creator.

Question: The results of the regularly conducted survey “What Worries the World?” have been published. Coronavirus is no longer the main problem that concerns the inhabitants of Earth, it is in third place. It was overtaken by poverty and unemployment.

Poverty and social inequality concern 33%, unemployment – 30%, and the coronavirus – 29%. Then there is corruption, crime, education, climate change, emigration and so on. At the very end,  the content of social programs (Ipsos, “Coronavirus no longer the world’s top worry as it is overtaken by economic concerns”).

What will we come to? What will humanity care about?

Answer: When there is no goal, it is impossible to talk about anything. Each, like a swan, a crayfish, and a pike, pulls in their own direction and that is it.

Comment: However, they say directly that a person wants to be happy.

My Response: That is a separate happiness for everyone.

Question: Will a person’s aspiration for his happiness not lead him to this?

Answer: In doing so, he stumbles upon the desire for the happiness of everyone else. Thus, they pull in different directions.

Question: Should the aspiration be one, common, toward one common goal?

Answer: Yes. Until we come to agreement, none of this will happen.

Question: What is the main problem that should concern people?

Answer: People should be concerned about the question of what they exist for, what the most important thing in their life is, and how to reach this state. After that, I can already talk about the things that prevent or help me to reach this goal.

Question: In your opinion, what should be the goal?

Answer: To be really happy.

Question: What do you mean by the word “happiness”?

Answer: When everyone is happy, everyone is satisfied, everyone is fulfilled, and everyone feels good.

Question: Did you just say not that I would be happy, but everyone would be happy?

Answer: How else can it be? If not everyone is happy, then in the end it threatens me too.

Comment: So, I have to care that all the people of the Earth will be happy.

My Response: Only in this case can I guarantee myself absolute happiness.

Question: In what case will the people of Earth be happy?

Answer: When all of them will think about exactly that, and worry about making everyone happy.

Happiness is to be in absolute harmony with inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human nature.

Question: This Russian poem still spreads over the Internet, which means that people feel it is relevant. How do you become a human in such a difficult world today?

Answer: This is a problem. I see that this is impossible without the help of the Creator.

You can admit your lowliness, the lowliness of your nature, anything. But if you admit that you have been given this from above for correction and you have to turn to the same source, to the Creator, who created you this rude, egoistic, etc. way, and you admit that you need to correct yourself, this can start helping in some way.

What’s the use of what Okudzhava summons? We see that humanity cannot do this. If we are only within the boundaries of our nature, we can keep on saying anything. There’s only one thing left for us to do—get drunk. What else? Drugs. Do you see what humanity is doing? Nothing!

Question: So you think that to learn practically the art of “condemn yourself first” is difficult?

Answer: I think it’s impossible. I even think we should not condemn ourselves, after all, we are created that way. And then a person stumbles upon some kind of internal contradiction, “What can I do if I am created worse than animals?”

Animals don’t act like us. We are ready to destroy everyone, animals don’t. Any animal eats another because it sees it as a source of food and nothing more. Therefore, whenever it destroys, it does not really destroy the other, it feeds.

This is a completely different attitude to life, to another, and to the world than our perspective. We destroy the other, not because it is necessary for us to survive, but to be above him. And our desire is not limited by anything.

We see that the world is not moving toward a better state. It can’t move to a better state. We have to get worse and worse. Our egoism is growing more and more, and no one and nothing can help us in this except the awareness of where it comes from.

It comes from the Creator specifically so that we understand why we were created in such a terrible, egoistic, uncorrectable, incorrigible nature.

Question: You are speaking such a bitter truth, and yet the Creator’s script is for us to try to get out of this nature?

Answer: When we begin to realize that nature, meaning the Creator, which is the same thing, created us like this and precisely for some purpose, and we realize ourselves to be so vicious, then on the one hand, we are somehow lost. What can we do if we are like this?

We need to accept that we are like this and cannot be different. And then we have the only opportunity to turn to the same source that develops this evil in us all the time: “I created the egoistic desire. I created egoism.”

Then we need to ask Him to give us the opportunity to at least somehow limit this evil, somehow occupy it.

Comment: Then this last stanza of Okudzhava: “Not in another, but in yourself, conquer the enemy.”

My Response: But it’s not us, it’s through the Creator again, through the same source.

Question: So the victory over the enemy is to turn to the Creator?

Answer: This is a victory over ourselves, over our own limitations, so that we turn to Him and always urgently demand from Him that He change us. For this He created us so creepy, terrible, egoistic, and limited so we could understand that our egoism cannot be corrected or changed in any way.

We do not need to blame ourselves, we do not need to blame others, and we must admit that we are the ones who are worse than the rest of the world, both vegetative and animal, and anything else, and we must turn to the Creator to change us.

Comment: And then, as Okudzhava writes: “And you will become a man.”

My Response: Yes!

Question: Then what does “man” mean?

Answer: A person is one who wants to do good, like the Creator. Then we will see that the Creator is not the one who created egoism, but who created egoism so that we turn to Him for correction.

The first part is the awareness of egoism. The second part is an appeal to the Creator to give us the strength to correct it and to teach us how to correct this egoism. And then proceed to this practical work on correcting egoism. Thus gradually, gradually, from oneself being opposite to the Creator, to make oneself similar to the Creator.

This is what is called human, this is our mission. And what will become of him, will be called a man, Adam, from the word “Edomeh – similar.”
