The Eternal Question About The Meaning Of Life

002Why do people commit suicide? They cannot bear the feeling of melancholy and emptiness. After all, they wanted to fill themselves, but despite the fact that we have television and radio, thousands of different channels and programs, I am unable to fill myself. The flaw that unfolds in me, inner dissatisfaction and emptiness, is much more than I can get from all the sources around me.

I need the meaning of life! Does my life have a meaning, a purpose worth living for? I cannot find an answer to this question. I need to know that life leads me to the right goal, to a good outcome, from which it will be better for me and others, and that I am in a special process of the flow of life, which continues forever.

Most likely, a person will stop thinking about suicide if he finds out how reality is arranged, within what program of nature we exist, and how nature controls us. We are constantly moving from one program to another, receiving a new “upgrade,” and so we comprehend creation in its entirety both in this life and above it.

The process of evolution leads us to a very worthy and lofty goal. A person must feel the stream of life flowing through him from infinity to infinity. I am in this endless stream and I myself am also endless. I just need to open myself to the perception of the power of life that is around me, and so to develop more and more.

This is not taught at school, at university, at home, or in the family. Therefore, now, when despair has grown so much and will continue to grow, a person will eventually be forced to resolve this question of the meaning of life.

I invite everyone to our Kabbalistic community to see how kind and warm it is; it helps in finding the meaning of life and its purpose, which does not end with this earthly existence. A person gets a sense of peace, eternal and wonderful life, which is worth living every moment.

278.03Question: What is the best way to start personal growth? What will help us start improving?

Answer: It is necessary to identify what I am really drawn to and not what is a consequence of being in a certain environment that instilled its values in me. I must find out what I am personally yearning for.

Question: Are there concepts of “early” or “late” in self-development?

Answer: Of course. Preferably sooner rather than later. But in any case, I will have to realize myself.

Question: What is self-realization for you?

Answer: Knowledge of your soul and its full realization.

Question: What is the difference between self-realization and the satisfaction of needs?

Answer: Satisfaction of needs is an animalistic existence, and self-realization is attaining equivalence to the Creator.

Question: At what age did you begin to seriously engage in self-realization and self-development?

Answer: I think it was only after I found my teacher, Rabash, when I was already 33 years old.

Question: How should one decide who to be, how to earn one’s living?

Answer: It does not matter what your occupation is. We come to this world not to somehow earn our living and realize ourselves within its framework, but to realize ourselves in relation to the Creator.

Question: Where can we find motivation for change and personal growth?

Answer: The environment. It is said that envy, jealousy, and desire for honor pull a person out of all states.

Question: What is more effective for personal growth: forcing yourself to leave your comfort zone or, to the contrary, listening to yourself and doing what you want?

Answer: Neither. It is imperative to enter the environment that will take you to the next level of development.

Question: How important is positive thinking for personal development?

Answer: In general, it is important. But at the same time, one must understand that there is also a critical view of this.

Question: If your close environment has chosen the path absent of self-development, is it worth running away from them so as not to become the same as they are?

Answer: You should always look for an environment that would push you forward.

Question: Why am I not applying what I know? Why are we made this way? What is stopping us?

Answer: It is the egoistic desire to hide so that I would not be in any way humiliated or defeated. We are hindered by the fear of losing some small egoistic obstacles if we engage in a higher purpose.

Question: How do we make sure that doubt and uncertainty do not hinder but help us grow and develop?

Answer: You must be very confident of yourself and, undoubtedly, aware of your strengths and capabilities to achieve the highest goal.

Question: How do you react to obstacles preventing you from reaching your goal?

Answer: I am sure that I can somehow get around them if I correctly check my goal and myself.

Question: What life achievements are related to self-realization?

Answer: Arrange the entire pyramid of needs correctly, and you will see how much simpler everything becomes.

Question: Is there a difference in self-realization of a man and a woman?

Answer: Yes. But it is the same with every man and every woman.

Question: A person has all his potential from the very beginning. You just need to start studying and discovering it. And this can only be done through the environment. Is this the technique of personal growth?

Answer: It all depends on the environment. Therefore, we must try with all our might to create the right society around us.

Question: Do you think that all psychological methods, when a person works on himself in order to improve his qualities, do not relate to realizing himself as human? Only in the right environment he can become human?

Answer: The psychological method is good until the level of similarity to the Creator is reached. And in our time, it will no longer work.

The Dominant Desire

597.01Question: Can we say that today the desire for self-realization prevails over other desires?

Answer: In our generation, we are already turning the pyramid of desires into a circle. Since all nature is integral and is a huge ball in which all levels are connected and support each other, all the aspirations that manifest in humanity take place, whatever they may be. Not only to wealth, entertainment, knowledge, and discovery, but to absolutely everything.

We cannot say that the modern stage is characterized by something special in comparison with other periods. The only thing is that now a person begins to develop an attraction to reveal the Creator.

In the current generation, the desire for self-realization is more and more evident in the understanding of the main law of the universe.

Question: Psychologist Abraham Maslow believed that no more than 4% of the human population could reach the highest level of the hierarchy of needs (the desire for self-realization). Moreover, a person feels happy even if the thirst for self-realization is satisfied by only 40%.

Do you think that the realization of your potential is the highest point in the pyramid of desires?

Answer: Naturally, if the realization actually occurs. And if the desire is there, but it is not realized?

For example, in our time, many seek not even to know, but to reveal the Creator. Knowledge is open to all, and can be the lot of everyone. But if we are talking about the revelation of the Creator, it is not given to everyone, and therefore, it can no longer be said that a person reaches this state and is happy.

Up The Pyramid Of Desires

275Comment: It is believed that the higher the quality of needs, the fewer people have it.

My Response: Naturally. This is the same pyramid of desires.

Question: Does it mean that not everyone needs to realize themselves at the highest level?

Answer: Of course. At the very bottom, at the base of the pyramid, are people who still have simple animalistic desires: family, work, sex, and hobbies.

Question: Is everything so deterministic that one cannot move from one level to another?

Answer: It mainly depends on the person, on the way one came into this world, so to say. Very little of it can be changed by the environment. Baal HaSulam writes about this in his articles on the influence of the environment.

It is possible to change one’s destiny, but to do this, a person must realize himself in a new environment, subjugate himself to others, bend his head, and then he will receive from others their desires, aspirations, and values.

Question: If I am, for example, on the third level of the pyramid and I realize myself there, does it mean that I reveal the meaning of life at this degree and I do not need more?

Answer: No! You only reveal the meaning, but you do not realize it yet. Realization goes further.

Eventually, all of humanity will reach the highest degree, which will turn into the center of a circle or of a sphere, and all people, that is, all souls, connecting with each other will form one common wholeness and exit the framework of our world.

Why Precisely In Our Time Should We Reveal The Creator?

202.0Question: People have always sought to explore nature. If the Creator is an all-encompassing thought, a field, a single law of nature, then why precisely now should we reveal Him as this law?

Answer: Today we can really investigate the Creator and become similar to Him, or vice versa, to the extent of our similarity to Him.

The final development of egoism gives us this opportunity. In each generation, it was gradually developing and consistently leading us through all states up to the very last one, at the top of the pyramid of human needs.

Question: With a small egoism is it impossible to reveal the Creator, or is it possible but at a very primitive level?

Answer: No, with a small egoism we also expect some attainments, not of the Creator, but of His small, side, external actions.

Question: Does spiritual realization mean revealing the Creator?

Answer: This means not only one’s realization in spirituality, but generally revealing the true world.

Peculiarities Of Our Time

laitman_222Question: The history of human development is the history of the development of our desires. About 3,500 years ago, the level of basic animalistic desires began to develop for food, sex, and family.

For 4,000 years until the 5th century C.E. (Common Era), the desire for wealth became dominant in humanity. From the 5th to the 15th century it was the desire for power. From the 15th to the 20th century it was the desire for knowledge. And since the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century it is the desire to reveal the meaning of life and realize yourself precisely at this degree of the pyramid.

What is the peculiarity of our time? What does it mean to realize oneself at the last degree, in the spiritual?

Answer: The fact is that our desires develop gradually, according to special laws. The highest degree is the one we are on today. It is really the highest: egoism pushes a person to realize himself in equivalence of form with the Creator, to become like the Creator.

On the other hand, the absolute impossibility of achieving this is revealed in us. And here we come to the conclusion that the task of becoming like the Creator is not solved directly, “head-on,” but develops and is realized in a different way.

Everyone should receive the forces from nature that help him change himself and build a structure above himself called “Man – Adam,” “like the Creator – Adameh.” After all, we are animals in all our ordinary pursuits.

And where does the man we need to develop hide in us? Very deeply; it is just a small desire that has been developing in us for centuries, until in our time we begin to feel it. And its realization comes in a very interesting way: We should not develop our original egoistic nature, but change it to the opposite, altruistic one. This is the equivalence of form with the Creator.

If you want to be human, you must turn yourself inside out, renounce animal existence and human predilections. Renounce all current values, such as wealth, power, fame, and knowledge, and prefer only one thing to this—the study of the Creator and the equivalence of form to Him.

Depression And The Meaning Of Life

198Remark: Billions of people who were staying at home during quarantine are now slowly coming out of it. At the same time, a lot of problems arise with a person’s psychology, with finding where to work and what to do. Psychologists say that the main thing is that reducing the pace of life will make us think about how and why we live.

In fact, they say the main problem is when a person begins to think about the meaning of life, what he is living for.

My Comment: This is natural. When he sees his life both in quarantine and without quarantine, before the coronavirus and after the coronavirus, and with new viruses, he will still start to feel, “What is happening to me? Why is nature playing with me?” This is where we need to start organizing a person.

Question: What will you tell him so he would hear, would suddenly feel the light at the end of the tunnel?

Answer: Nature is offering us an ultimate solution: You, all of you together, will have to correct yourself to the likeness to nature, that is, to create a good human community on this Earth. Through the correction of relationships between people, you will begin to feel our world as infinite, eternal perfection.

Question: Should education be directed toward this?

Answer: Nurture the relationship between people so that you create harmonious common humanity.

Remark: I was running around all the time, looking for work, filling myself with work. And now you are telling me, “You came to a halt. Stop. None of this will exist. Start thinking about how to build good connections between people.”

My Comment: Yes. This is the work. This is precisely the work of a person!

Question: Are you referring this to each person?

Answer: Absolutely everyone.

Question: Not only to those who manage people?

Answer: No. To all people. There is no management here. There is more mutual help than management here.

Question: Does it mean that the simplest, most inconspicuous person begins to think, how do I build good relationships with other people—with the inner circle, the far circle, and so on?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Do you call this work?

Answer: Of course.

Question: Should he receive some kind of compensation for this? After all, he must have something to live on.

Answer: He will receive compensation. Human society will be arranged in such a way that it will be paying for this, giving everyone a kind of stipend.

Question: That is, a person is paid for building good connections with others? This is something new, this is a revolution for humanity.

Answer: Why? This is work! Perhaps you will be able to measure it.

Question: Will humanity agree to this? After all, someone has to pay for this.

Answer: It will have to agree.

Question: Firstly, where can we get money to pay people for such work, which, in principle, was not considered work before?

Answer: Money is printed; there are no problems with this. We can print notes or maybe tokens.

People will work at necessary-for-society enterprises, which will be constantly reorganized so that they are as environmentally friendly as possible. That’s it!

Let’s say that 20% of people, constantly replacing one another, will have to work at these enterprises that produce what people need. Only for people and only what people need. They will spend all the rest of the time and effort on creating a correct connection between themselves.

Question: To do this, a person will have to study. As you already said, 20% of the people will be working, replacing each other. And 80% will be sitting at desks, from young to old. Will they be paid for learning how to build good connections with each other?

Answer: Yes. There will be a necessary living standard and that is it. And there will be a very kind, good atmosphere.

Question: There will be no depression?

Answer: No. First of all, envy will disappear. Envy will remain only in the form of, “Can I do as much for society as others, and not less?” Meaning, positive envy.

Question: In what will a person feel the meaning of life then?

Answer: He will attain the Creator in a correct connection between him and the others. This is the reward that is more elevated and perfect than any other. He will feel his life as eternal, perfect, and complete.

Question: Why will the Creator come to a person the moment he builds good connections with others? Why will the Creator be revealed to him?

Answer: According to the law of equivalence of form between the Creator and a person who builds himself in good relationships with others.

Question: Let’s say that the Creator is revealed to me, to the ordinary person. What does it mean for me? What is it?

Answer: The feeling that you exist in an eternal, perfect space. The entire cosmos, everything around you, feels like your home, your eternal, perfect state. You perceive this not through your body, not through your animalistic state, but rather through another, more elevated state, which is called “soul.” This is natural and accessible to everyone.

I am sure that this will become a very urgent need in the coming years.

Find A Middle Ground

760.4Comment: I am being pulled to the bottom by my usual way of life. And all those with whom I communicate do not believe in the possibility of change. From this, hands fall, and the desire to move forward disappears.

My Response: So what? Hands drop down, you don’t want to move forward, don’t move. All the same, life will force you.

You just need to find a middle ground for yourself. Do not rush to jump headfirst into something, but walk measuredly, clearly, and with the help of Kabbalah analyze everything that you meet in life. This will teach you the right approach to the world very quickly.

Question: But is there a life path that leads to success, or is it a loose concept?

Answer: Of course there is. But it is already destined for you, and you reveal it either in a good way, or in an bad way. These are such different paths that it seems to you that they are different lives.

Comment: It turns out that in this life we can either walk our path of spirituality and comprehend something or end our days in ignorance.

My Response: You will appear again in a new incarnation.

How Can We Know The Ultimate Goal Of Our Existence?

Laitman_198Question: How do we find out the ultimate goal of our existence? A person is limited to living in a certain country and has certain financial and physical capabilities. Where should he start the shift? Is this some kind of internal process, an internal decision?

Answer: A person will be unable to see, define, understand, or realize his final state. For example, if a two or three-year-old child suddenly saw himself as an adult on the stage of a theater conducting a huge orchestra, he would not understand what kind of person was standing there and waving a stick, while the rest were pulling strings or blowing horns.

We don’t see our final state because we don’t have any predisposition to it. We can only read about these final states, we can only imagine them in a very limited way, with certain conditions that Kabbalah sets before us, saying that we should not rush too far ahead.

See what is in front of you, the final states will be explained to you, and you will get an idea of the overall picture. But most importantly, these are the states that you must gradually realize in your spiritual progress.

The Information Record That Is Everything

laitman_202.0Question: We can say that spiritual advancement pushed Mikhail Lomonosov, who was born into a poor fisherman’s family, to leave his native village and go on foot to Moscow. Let’s say that people do not have such an awakening, there is no such aspiration, but at the same time they can listen to us now. Where could they start? What can turn them on?

Answer: If they have such an information record that they should turn on, then they turn it on, and if not, then no. This is destiny.

Question: They say that 50 percent of your destiny can definitely be changed, and 50 percent of events you just need to accept. I am not suggesting that this is correct. But it turns out that everything that happens in life can be changed?

Answer: No. You can only be what you are as recorded informationally in your original state. It contains all the steps you must take on the way to your final absolute state. But you can speed up this path, make it more convenient, and most importantly, do it yourself. You can enjoy realizing it.

Such a realization of the path of life, when you make yourself a person of the future, is a great pleasure. It gives you fulfillment and creativity. But in general, you still keep going and translate into reality the informational record that was in you initially.
