A Perceptual Connection

938.01In other words, we observe Torah and Mitzvot because we want to please Him, to give Him contentment, for it is the nature of those who love that the love obligates them to want to bring them contentment (Rabash, Article No. 28, 1989. “Who Needs to Know that a Person Withstood the Test?”).

Question: If I do not feel the Creator, I do not feel my friends. How can I practically work with the pleasure mentioned in the article?

Answer: The fact is that when you are among friends, and even when you are far from them in your feelings, you have to imagine all the time how you are getting closer to them, how you are becoming closer and closer to each other. And from your inner feelings, you should choose those common feelings in which you come into contact with each other.

Try to feel the perceptual connection.

Question: How can I check that joy comes from getting closer to the Creator?

Answer: It depends on the friends. You should approach the Creator together and experience a sense of joy and pleasure because the Creator fills your common desire.

Grab Hold of the Friends

236.02Question: If I feel that I am falling, that darkness is coming, and I am holding on to the Creator, can I feel gratitude and joy in this darkness?

Answer: Yes, only by holding on to the Creator after you connect with your friends.

Question: How can you grab hold of your friends from the darkness?

Answer: It seems to you that it is easier to hold on to the Creator than to the friends. In fact, this is not the case.

If you cling to your friends and want to be together with them as one man with one heart, then from this state you can also cling to the Creator. Otherwise, you will not have the right preparation to come close to Him.

From Absolute Darkness

236.01Question: Recognition of evil disarms a person, and he understands that evil is a complete lack of love. Since there is no light of love, there is no strength to do anything because you are in absolute darkness.

What should one do in this state?

Answer: You should ask, and ask, and nothing else. There is no such thing that there is no strength at all. It means that you have no connection with the group. If you have a good connection with your ten, there is strength for any revelation.

You should strengthen your connection with the group and turn to the Creator from there. When a person asks only for himself, the Creator does not answer him. It is necessary to ask from the point of connection in the group. Although it seems difficult to us, we must do just that.

Two Qualities In One Person

549.01Question: What is the difference between an absolute righteous and an absolute wicked?

Answer: As a rule, both states are in the same person. A person reveals oneself in this way relative to the Creator, either as an absolute righteous or an absolute wicked, because these states cannot be manifested simultaneously.

Question: Should I treat my friends in the ten as absolutely righteous, and if so, how will this help to reveal to them that they are wicked?

Answer: It does not matter who they think they are or who you think they are. In any case, you should think that they are absolutely righteous, and then you will be able to come closer to them and through them to the Creator.

The Group’s Common Diary

530Question: When we come to the awareness of evil, how can we use it correctly? After all, we have no other fuel to achieve bestowal.

Answer: First, we gather in the ten. Second, we agree to unite, and we write down in the group’s common diary everything that opens up between us and interferes with our unification.

All the properties that prevent us from being in the right connection are called yetser ra (evil inclination), bad qualities that are opposite to the properties of the Creator. We must get rid of them.

So write everything down in a group journal and then check once a week whether you were able to get rid of something or not. This will lead you to a correct understanding of who you are.

In addition, write down your impressions of connecting with friends: what pushes you away from them or brings you closer. It is very important! There is no need to hide anything.

Question: Wouldn’t it put them off if they read how negatively I feel about them?

Answer: No, it won’t put them off; to the contrary, they will see that you are an honest person, that they can deal with you because you see your shortcomings and write them down so as not to forget them and to analyze them when you are in a different mood or a different state.

The point is that when you no longer focus on negative thoughts, you begin to figure out past states and try to work with them.

And at the end of the week, you can get together, read your common diary, and talk with each other. This will make you more open to each other and understand each other more.

Do not be shy. In a group you should be like one person with one heart. You cannot imagine how much as a result of this work a space filled with the Creator will open to you.

Become an Example for the Friends

934Question: It is said: “If I am not for myself, then who is for me.” How can we understand this?

Answer: You have to think about how to constantly advance. For this, you should join a group, get closer to your friends, and be an example for them, so that they in turn become an example to others, in a circle.

As a result, you will form a great force of striving for connection into which you will simply be sucked.

The World Is the Way We Are Capable of Seeing It

294.4We think that connection in the ten is the same as simple friendship like with former classmates or other long–time friends with whom it is easy and pleasant for us to be together.

But the ten is not the same at all. By connecting with friends in the ten we build a spiritual Kli. Through this, we attract the Creator, the good who does good, into our connection, and it is He who corrects our state.

Therefore, connection in the ten is not just a friendly connection, but the attraction of a higher spiritual force into our connection, the only force that can correct everything.

And if we want to change the picture of the world that appears before us today with its wars and sufferings in practice and get closer to the Creator, then we need to get closer to our friends, as it is said: “From love to friends to love of the Creator.”

And then, within our connection, the Creator will be revealed, and we will feel how the state of the world changes.

All states that we see around us are actually our personal, internal states. We do not see what is truly happening in the world, but we see only what we are capable of seeing in it.

And if we want to see that not only the power of judgment rules in the world, but love and mercy, we can do this through the power of our unity and prayer to the Creator. The power of judgment will completely disappear only at the very last stage of final correction. The main thing is to rise now from the feeling of this world, the lowest reality, and feel that the Creator is doing everything for our benefit to raise us higher and higher.

Questions about Spiritual Work—34

281.02Question: In meetings and lessons our ego is noticeably corrected. How can one work alone at home correctly so that it is felt?

Answer: While at home you should read texts or listen to lessons. Then your time will not be wasted, and you will constantly go through the right states.

Question: What does the depth of the heart mean, and why does a person not descend into it?

Answer: The depth of the heart is unknown to us. We comprehend it on the way to the purpose of creation when the whole heart is gradually revealed to us. But, in general, we should try to feel the Creator and friends with all our hearts as close as possible.

Question: How can one come to a feeling of awareness of the greatness of the Creator so that even a breath of air can be inhaled through gratitude?

Answer: It depends on your systematic efforts on an ongoing basis. But the point is that you have to join the group, and the group must join you; otherwise, it will not be permanent.

Question: If our evil is revealed to us, then at each stage will it manifest itself in portions, a little more and more? Or will it be revealed at one time, and until the end of the correction we need to work with what has been revealed?

Answer: No, evil is revealed only to the extent that a person can work with it. Therefore, at each stage it will open up more and more. So, do not be alarmed, but the full revelation of evil is yet to come.

As If for Your Own Children

938.05Question: Why does joy arise in my automatically when a child takes his first steps or begins to speak, but joy for a friend I must gnaw out of myself and ask it from the Creator?

Answer: The fact is that if your child receives something good, you automatically rejoice for him, and moreover, you feel that it was given to you. This is our attitude toward our children. But we do not have such feelings toward other people’s children.

In principle, our attitude toward children is much more reverent than toward ourselves, which is why we behave this way and feel this way.

Question: Is it possible that joy for our friends will also arise in us automatically?

Answer: If the light of the Creator descends on us, then we will rejoice for our friends as we do for our children, and even more.

Intention Does Not Replace Action

947Question: As a rule, we do not interfere in the inner work of a friend. If, for example, he stops attending lessons or outwardly shows less activity, we support him. And if he is doing well, we do not touch him. Is this the right approach?

Answer: Why not? If he is on the spiritual path, why bother him? We should just show that we are going together. But if someone turns aside a little bit, we need to try to get him back on the right path.

Question: Let’s assume that a friend did not come to the lesson although he should have come. What should I say to him if he says: “But I work in intention, I pray for you”?

Answer: No, it cannot be. Intention does not replace action because all our actions take place in the ten, in the group. Therefore, we must fulfill all the physical conditions of our connection.
