If You Were Offended

Question: A student asked: “Teacher, how can I learn to forgive?” The teacher replied: “Learn not to be offended.”

Do you still need to learn to forgive or learn not to be offended?

Answer: Do not be offended.

Question: Why? Can you explain it to me?

Answer: We need to understand other people and agree with them in advance that offense is all a pure product of our egoism.

Question: If I learn to forgive, then do I learn to forgive him? And if I learn not to be offended, is it me who learns not to be offended? Is there work with my “I” here?

Answer: Yes, sure.

Question: What do I do with it if I am not offended even though I have been very offended?

Answer: I believe that this is in the order of human nature; therefore, I do not feel justified in rising up against it.

Question: Is it human nature to offend? If I have been offended, I must say, “This is human nature”?

Answer: Yes.

Question: At the same time, should I say this is my nature, too?

Answer: In general, yes, but it is not necessary.

Question: Is it possible not to be offended when you, your “I,” are crushed and spoiled?

Answer: It comes with age that you begin to feel and understand that this is human nature, there is no point in being offended. We are talking beyond 70 years of age. And before that, you are still a child.

How Can You Make a Teacher Like You?

“Not all who want to take the Lord may come and take. This is why we need the righteous of the generation. By adhering to a real teacher, whose desire is only to bestow, and then one should do things that his teacher likes, meaning hate what his teacher hates and love what his teacher loves, then he can learn Torah that will not be a potion of death (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 245, “Prior to the Creation of the Newborn”).

Question: What does it mean to bring contentment to the teacher, and how does this manifest itself in the ten?

Answer: The teacher requires only one thing from you—to approach the Creator through the ten all the time. That is all. Do you want to be liked? Do this action, nothing else is needed.

What Does It Mean to Rush on the Spiritual Path?

Question: Baal HaSulam’s article in Shamati 248 says that “He who rushes—gains.” What is one who rushes?

Answer: A quick person is a person who wants to strengthen his or her actions in coming closer to others. He does not wait for his friend to love him but tries to be the first to love the friend, as it is said: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

The one who acts quickly, looking for ways to come closer to his friends, is always ahead.

Question: The sources say that the Creator is the first and the Creator is the last. Does my effort between the first and the last help in being quick?

Answer: Your work is to try to love your friends and the Creator with all your strength and desires.

Add Kindness and Love

Question: As a rule, the tightest connection between us occurs after some conflict or dislike for a friend. Can we provoke these states ourselves, or do we not need to do this?

Answer: No, in no case should you provoke anything negative.

Comment: But through kindness and love, the connection is somehow felt less.

My Response: I understand you. But to do this, you need to see that you still need to add kindness and love to your friends so that you may feel that you are getting closer to them.

Question: Why is the process of our connection taking so long?

Answer: We constantly receive questions, answer them, come to prayers, and get closer and closer to the Creator. But still, it takes a lot of time because the distance between us and the Creator is great.

Question: What helped King David be at such a high level of emotions? We read his psalms every day. Feelings of this degree are simply unattainable.

Answer: That is why King David is considered the first king. All our prayers are from him. They all come from what he wrote.

Question: Do we meet with Klipot during the preparation period or only when we are on spiritual degrees?

Answer: Everything that prevents you from approaching the group and the Creator can be safely called Klipot (unclean forces).

Question: When you know the answer to your question, is it worth asking? Or should you wait until you have a question you do not have an answer to and only then ask?

Answer: If you think the question is worth for everyone to know and hear the answer, then ask.

Preferred Option

Question: Let’s say you come to the lesson and only read the text with everyone, or you come to the lesson, read the text, and pray for your friends, or you come to a lesson and see that you have no strength, and you ask the Creator to give you the strength to pray for your friends and to be in the intention. Do these options attract the light of the Torah differently?

Answer: Certainly, the preferred option is the one that most awakens the prayer to the Creator. It depends on what you want from the reforming light that returns to the source.

Ideal is the desire to awaken all the friends, the ten, the group, and to rise together with them to the Creator and provide Him with a common Kli so He can fill it up to the final correction.

Lessons from the Creator

Comment: There is a certain perception of reality. Some parts of the universe seem to take us aside, while others, on the contrary, lead us.

My Response: These are all manifestations of the Creator. There is no difference between what takes you away, what leads you, what properties, feelings, people, or reasons.

All these direct me to the Creator or are how He leads me to Himself. He leads me by confusing and addressing me in various ways. Every minute He takes me somewhere else, and I need to cling more and more to the understanding that all this is Him, according to the principle, “There is none else besides Him.”

Then I will gradually begin to see through these interferences, through all His exercises with me, that He wants to teach me to distinguish Him inside all these scenes that He plays before me, including playing Himself.

The Creator wants me to attain His thoughts, His mind, His desires, and His intentions regarding me and everyone; He wants me to attain the internal motor that controls the entire universe.
