“The Mount That Entombed Pompeii”

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 28/11/21

A few days ago I visited Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy. In the fall of the year 79 CE, the mountain exploded. The explosion was so violent that it shot a cloud of fragmented rock and gasses to a height of 33 km (21 miles), released pulverized volcanic glass (pumice) and hot ash at a rate of 1.5 million tons per second, and unleashed a torrent of liquid rock and gas that flowed down the mountain at a speed greater than a Category 1 hurricane. To this day, such events are referred to as “Vesuvian eruptions.” That outburst buried the lavish Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and to this day the tragedy symbolizes nature’s wrath at man’s decadence.

Volcanic eruptions are nature’s way of restoring balance. Just as viruses trigger “eruptions” of pandemics today, so this colossal explosion served the same function then.

All of reality evolves in such a way that to shift from one state to another, it must reach a certain threshold and then erupt. Planet Earth and the entire universe evolve in this way.

At the same time, natural disasters are not mandatory, certainly not at such levels of destructiveness. Because humans exert a negative influence on nature, we tilt it off balance, tremendously increasing the severity of volcanic eruptions and other cataclysms. If we understood the extent of our influence on nature, we would see that there is a lot we can do to calm it down.

Since nature is in balance, anything that is unbalanced in it has a negative effect on it. In all of nature, humankind is the only part that is corrupt and distorted. We inject nature with swarms of selfishness and almost no good will. We contribute nothing to the prosperity of other plant and animal species, and deplete, pollute, and corrupt everything we touch.

Clearly, such a severe imbalance requires intense rebalancing. This is what we experience as “natural disasters,” whose viciousness and deadliness are “man-made.”

I Am In Favor Of Being Vaccinated

962.3Question: What do you think,  is people’s unwillingness to get vaccinated a manifestation of egoism, distrust of medicine, or distrust of the government?

Answer: I think that it is people’s distrust of what is going on around them. They feel the world, no matter what place they feel it from and in what way, as hostile. This is because of the government or because of healthcare or for whatever reason.

After all, everything has been bought and is under the control of circles that think only of themselves, of their own benefit. It turns out that it is going to harm me; either they need to reduce the population or to suppress people. Today a person does not believe in anything. He sees that nothing is being done for his benefit.

Therefore, naturally, no one agrees to just go and expose themselves to vaccinations, which, by the way, are not such a clear thing either. Where did they come from? What am I being injected with? How will this affect me, my genes, my offspring, and everything?

Maybe we are just infecting each other, and as a result, we will get an environment in which viruses living in us will determine everything—right down to our consciousness. There is certain logic in this.

But I do not hold on to that. I believe we need to get vaccinated.

New Life 1324 – About Consumerism And Internal Property

New Life 1324 – About Consumerism And Internal Property
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

The experience of shopping brings us pleasure, excitement, success, and status. In addition, Internet purchases create the anticipation of delivery, and the excitement of opening the box.

The nature of the will to receive is to always desire to acquire something new. The more we receive, the more we enjoy. It’s not that we swallow the object itself, but rather we swallow the pleasure we receive from acquiring it.

We need to ask ourselves what is needed for life, and plan ahead to buy only that, not what the advertisers persuade us will bring pleasure. Otherwise we find ourselves surrounded by objects that just gather dust, while the emptiness of our will to receive remains.

We should educate children by example and teach them to seek inner fulfillments that don’t cost money—books, music, games, sports, relationships, and conversation. Healthy consumerism is buying only what we truly need and raising our importance for attaining inner assets.

This summary was written and edited by students of Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman.

A Desire Directed Toward The Creator

243.07Question: What does the land of Israel mean?

Answer: The land of Israel in Hebrew is “Eretz Yisrael.”  Eretz, from the word “desire” (Ratzon). That is, the concept of land has nothing to do with soil or the land on which we stand; it means “desire.”

Israel (Isra-El) is Yashar-El, aspiring toward the Creator.

Therefore, the desire of any person or group of people striving toward the Creator, toward similarity and connection with Him, is called the desire directed toward Him, or Eretz Yisrael.

What Is A Person’s Choice?

703.03Question: Can you describe the state or some conditions in which a person is free and can choose? After all if we are in our egoistic nature, then any choice is out of the question.

But the fact is that in the altruistic nature of the Creator, we also have no choice. Then what is a person’s choice?

Answer: In the thing that the one chooses between this and that, when one knows what is good in the eyes of the Creator, in the eyes of the absolute law of the universe. And this is rapprochement, mutual assistance, connection, right up to love.

Love is a selfless connection for the sake of others. Then we will have nothing to be afraid of, we cannot do anything wrong and we will move as quickly as possible, the shortest path toward our best state—complete correction.

Do Stars Affect Our Destiny?

712.03Question: Do stars affect our destiny? If so, is it worth studying astrology or cosmology to somehow influence it?

Answer: There is no point. It is written, “You shall not act on the basis of omens or lucky hours.”

We need to have a correct attitude to our lives. Apart from getting closer to other people, apart from learning to behave correctly with each other according to spiritual laws, which are the laws of connection, love, and friendship, nothing will help us to improve our destiny, avoid world war, or get closer to a good future.

Question: If we live in a volume called nature, the universe, then is it not logical that the stars affect our body, our thinking? After all, we are created from the same matter, from atoms.

Answer: The fact is that a person has a soul. It is said that this is a part of the Creator above, which is within us. It is not subject to any changes and metamorphoses, to anything that happens in our world.

“Are There Intelligent Life Forms, Other Than Us?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Are there intelligent life forms, other than us?

Besides the still, vegetative, animate and human levels of nature, there is nothing else in the universe. No matter how much we seek other life forms, we will nevertheless discover nothing outside of these four levels.

The human degree is the highest life form because it holds the ability to exit the corporeal world and enter into the higher spiritual and eternal world, a completely different level of existence beyond the universe as we know it.

As large as our universe seems, it is in fact a very tiny and limited place. It emerged from a tiny spark that broke through from a higher degree of existence, called a higher “world” in Kabbalah. We know this event as the Big Bang, a starting point for the construction of life forms and the existence we now have.

It is important for us to note that everything existing in our universe, including us, everything on our planet, and all the stars and galaxies, are merely the outcome of a tiny speck of light that came from a higher degree of existence.

We perceive a vast and endless expansiveness in the universe, with tremendous distances and an immense picture because of how we are created. However, when we look at it from a different point of view, we see it all as something very small and limited, and there is nothing special about it but the ability for the small tiny living creatures in that small circle to come out of it, to rise above that circle and exist on a higher level.

Our universe and everything in it exist on the lowest degree of reality, and by rising above this degree, we discover much bigger and more expansive degrees. We can rise through more and more degrees that exist in reality up to the final perfect and eternal degree. However, we do not need to reach that final degree in order to see that the universe as we currently perceive it, with the still, vegetative, animate and human levels of nature contained in it, stems to us from a higher degree of reality, creating all life forms in our universe and on our planet. There are no other places or degrees from which to emanate for any life forms, but solely from that higher degree.

You Can’t Wish For A Better State

559Question: On the one hand, “existence from existence” is the Creator with the absolute quality of bestowal. But I cannot work with this force directly, I have no tools to tune in to Him, so I have to work with my neighbor.

If I want to acquire the quality of the Creator, then should I try to bestow upon my neighbor? And what does “to bestow” mean?

Answer: Teach them to be similar to the Creator. If you teach your neighbor this, then you put the other in the best possible state. Nothing else can be.

Doing good to another person means to help the one to reveal the Creator.
