“Glasgow Climate Change Conference Changes Nothing” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “Glasgow Climate Change Conference Changes Nothing

As the world prepares for the 2021 Glasgow Climate Change Conference, more and more data indicate that human efforts, assuming there have been efforts, have been insufficient, at best. While world leaders spread declarations galore about curbing emissions of greenhouse gases, the reality is the opposite. The UN Production Gap Report tracks the discrepancy between governments’ planned fossil fuel production and actual global production levels. This year’s report reveals that “despite increased climate ambitions and net-zero commitments, governments still plan to produce more than double the amount of fossil fuels in 2030 than what would be consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C [2.7°F].”

However, even if governments did intend to meet their commitments, it would not reverse climate change. If we compare the amount of greenhouse gases that humanity produces to the amount emitted by volcanic eruptions, forest fires, and the accelerated thawing of the permafrost in Alaska, Greenland, Canada and Siberia, it will be clear that nature is headed for a rapid climate change with or without our “help.”

Climate change is not the only crisis that humanity is facing. There are crises in every area of human engagement: International tensions are rising; religious extremism is increasing; racial and cultural tensions are dividing countries from within; and the global economy is teetering on the brink of stagflation. If this is not enough, the tenacious coronavirus is still disrupting lives and economic recovery the world over, supply chains are breaking, leading to shortages in gas, food, and other staples, and natural disasters are intensifying in frequency and ferocity due to climate change. Clearly, we need to stop focusing on specific problems, and start thinking more systemically.

Our world is built like a pyramid. At the base of the pyramid is the mineral level, above it is the flora, above which is the fauna, and man stands at the top of the pyramid. We are not part of the animal kingdom because while our bodies are similar to that of other primates, our minds enable us to reflect on our past, our future, and make long-term plans for ourselves and for the planet.

However, despite our superior mind, we are not “above” the system; we are a part of it. As such, we affect all the levels below us. Therefore, any malfunction on the top, human level, “trickles down” to the entire pyramid and spoils the other levels, too.

Now it is easy to see that the problem lies squarely with humanity. Moreover, since the problems encompass every realm of human engagement, then clearly, curbing gas emissions will not solve anything. If we want to fix the world, we need to fix humanity.

When we examine humanity, each person has unique skills and traits. In themselves, these characteristics are not problems but advantages. The diversity of human thoughts, approaches, cultures, ideas, and beliefs creates a tapestry whose threads weave into a powerful entity that could, theoretically, achieve anything. Therefore, the problem is not in the people, but in how they connect with one another.

Currently, the threads in the tapestry of humanity are trying to tear each other up. Instead of strengthening, supporting, and emboldening each other, we are vying for supremacy and power. Instead of working to make the fabric as strong and as beautiful as possible, we are trying to be the strongest thread in the sheet. Is it any wonder that we are exhausted? Is it any wonder that we are sickened by the endless struggles and ill-will that surround us? Is it any wonder that depression is the most common illness of our time? And finally, is it any wonder that our world, our only home, is ruined? Now, I think we know what we really need to focus on when we come to save our planet.

Special Time

167Question: What is special for you in the present time in what is happening in the world right now?

Answer: I think our time is special. We are in a state of intensified development of humanity’s awareness of its destructive egoistic nature. I hope this will give us an opportunity to understand our state and find a way to fix it.

Question: What worries you personally?

Answer: Frankly speaking, nothing bothers me deeply except for one thing. As the great Kabbalist of the beginning of the 20th century Baal HaSulam writes, we are in the last generation, which means, in the generation that must reach the recognition of the final inferiority of our egoism, the impossibility of correcting it, and being cured of the ego by rising above it.

To bring a person to this, there are a huge number of negative forces that will cause suffering in us, up to the third and fourth nuclear world wars. Therefore, I am concerned about whether we will be able to achieve recognition and correction through it, or whether we will have to go through enormous suffering.

Question: So on one hand, you feel deep calmness, and on the other hand anxiety?

Answer: Peace of mind is that we will reach the final state anyway. It can be seen, but it’s very far away. In principle, it is close, but it depends on how you look at it because it is in our hands to make a leap to it, to reject egoism, to try to move to another level of communication between us. Otherwise, we will have to do it under the influence of a terrible coercive force.

Question: Is it realistic for an individual to see this final state?

Answer: Kabbalists see it. And the rest of the people will have to feel a little bit the impossibility of continuing life in the paradigm we exist in now and agree with this.

Consent gives a person the opportunity to realize that another form of his attitude to the world, to people, to loved ones, to the connection between us is necessary. We must exchange our negative egoistic interactions for positive, altruistic ones that will fill the entire space between us.

We must come to this realization. I say “realization” because actions are actually done by nature, but in accordance with our wishes.

Question: Is there anything that particularly inspires you now?

Answer: I am inspired by the fact that our time is very saturated with all kinds of events that are altering us at a great speed. This is incomparable with what we went through in previous generations.

I really hope that we will come to a state where we really realize the evil of egoism as our mortal enemy, and we will do everything possible to get rid of it.

What Vessel Is Suitable For The Light

260.01The Creator fills everything, He is everywhere. We are in the ocean of the upper light, the upper force, which is good and fills everything. However, we can feel it only to the extent that we have a suitable Kli, a vessel. After all, we cannot come for water with a bag suitable for holding flour. What kind of Kli is suitable for the Creator in order to feel the upper force and even measure it?

This spiritual vessel is fear. Instead, we bring a Kli that is completely not suitable for the revelation of the Creator, and therefore we live in darkness. The only problem is the vessel because the Creator fills the whole of reality. There is nothing besides the Creator; it is the common force of nature.

The entire pleasure of the Creator is to reveal Himself to the created beings because this is how He can give pleasure to us. For now He is working on us in concealment and this does not give Him pleasure. This is why we want to reveal the Creator and be filled by Him in order to give Him pleasure. That is, we do not long to receive the upper light within ourselves, but we want to give the Creator the opportunity to fill us.

We want to express our love for the Creator so that He will be able to express His love for the created beings. All this is implemented by the mutual force of bestowal, in the reflected light from the side of the created beings and in the direct light from the side of the Creator.

Therefore we need to build a vessel for the revelation of the Creator, which is called “the fear of the Creator.” That is, we are afraid that we will not be able to provide the Creator with the conditions for filling us.

We want to give ourselves to the Creator so that He will fill us and enjoy us, do with us whatever He wants. Therefore, first of all we make a restriction on our egoism, on the will to receive pleasure for ourselves, and then we give ourselves to the Creator through faith above reason. To this extent the Creator will be able to correct our Kli and fill it.

The Creator knows how to turn us into a vessel suitable for His light. This is not simple at all because there are many different lights for which different vessels are required, like the way we need different containers for water, flour, and grain. There is a vessel suitable for each filling, and we are not able to create it ourselves; only the Creator can do it. But He will do it to the extent that we can annul ourselves.

“Why Do Some People Think Jews Are Running The World?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why do some people think Jews are running the world?

It comes from the fact that the method for the world’s correction resides in the Jewish people, and this method eventually has to spread globally, so that everybody uses this method and brings the world to a harmonious, peaceful and perfect state.

The nations of the world feel it internally, on the biological level. They don’t even know where it comes from, but they feel dependence on the Jews.

They feel that there’s something about the Jews that makes the Jews superior, that they have a kind of secret that they’re hiding from everyone, from the world, that the Jews have a method of correction for the world, and that they are perhaps waiting for a time when they can sell it for the highest price, that they will be able to control the world by it.

This is a natural thought that awakens in all nations. They started feeling it not long after the destruction of the Temple, and this will not go away until we will spread the method of correction to the world, that we will completely open ourselves and explain to ourselves and the world the state that we and the world are in.

Based on the video “Where Does the Thought That Jews Conspire to Rule the World Come From?” with Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman. Written/edited by students of Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman.

Optimizing Life

963.6A person always wants to get the maximum return with a minimal investment. Nature works like that in everything. This is its general law. If we are dealing with the desire to receive, the desire to bestow, laws of development, absorption, and so on, we always see that nature strives for optimization.

Kabbalah reveals a more universal law of nature to us that takes its integrality into account. In principle, egoism remains, but it begins to take into account everything around it. And then I have to think about others, about correct interaction with them whether I want it or not, because otherwise everything will come back to me like a boomerang.

Therefore, egoism, willy-nilly, becomes altruistic and takes others in consideration because I cannot exist otherwise.

This form of mutual activity when we begin to see our integrality and work together on a common goal, on optimizing our life at all levels, leads us to unification, to mutual inclusion in each other where I must understand the other as myself, and myself as the other

Thus, we turn into one single community including all of us and the inanimate, vegetative, and animate forms of nature.

As a result, we come to a state where our thoughts change. We see everything not in a narrow, straightforward egoistic form, but in an expanded, integral form, where we consider the whole world to be our own.

Do Not Lose Your Mental Balance

630.2Question: An experiment has been launched in Brussels on restoring mental health during the pandemic. They send people not to pharmacies but to museums. Moreover, museum exhibitions vary from fashion industry to wastewater treatment.

A similar system was implemented in Quebec. Doctors there prescribe up to 50 preventive visits to museums during the year to their patients. They say that this will be more effective than antidepressants during this crisis.

How do you like this unique solution instead of antidepressants?

Answer: It is very good. At least it is a kind of educational process.

Question: Does a person forget about all his problems when he enters a museum?

Answer: He starts to look at the world in a different way.

Question: What if museums are about the history of fashion, the history of humanity, nature, and so on?

Answer: It develops a person and expands his mind. He at the same time starts to look at the world differently. It is necessary. This is the way to realize where we are, what we are in nature, and who we are in general. Man really needs this. Based on all this, he will be able to solve other problems.

Question: Are you in favor of visiting museums?

Answer: Absolutely! I can give you an example. I was in Toronto and New York for 28 days and practically did not get out of museums. Every day I went to a new museum. It helps to expand the mind.

Question: That is, a person who is in a state of crisis needs this expansion of the mind?

Answer: Yes. He looks at the world differently, in a broader manner, as a whole, and he sees connections between things, objects, and forces. He starts to look at the world in such a way that the world turns out to be much bigger than this small, narrow world in which he suffers.

Connection With The Land Of Israel

741.02Question: Why do many Jews not want to come to Israel but prefer to live elsewhere?

Answer: What can attract them here? Initially, a Jew is arranged in such a way that only the spiritual root attracts him. If he does not have a craving for spiritual elevation, then he lives here involuntarily.

Those who do not see the realization of their spiritual needs leave Israel with bitterness, resentment, and anger. Those people who feel attracted to spirituality, subconsciously feel they can realize themselves here. We have many students on different continents: in South America, Asia, Russia, and so on. They feel this need, they want to live here.

Question: When a person begins to study Kabbalah, does he feel a connection with the land of Israel?

Answer: Yes, because in our world there are geographical consequences of spiritual roots. The person who feels attracted to the spiritual root feels where his branch is in the corporeal world and tries to be closer to this land.

In Similarity To Nature

271The method of integral management is necessary for people who are wondering how we can successfully manage our life, the world, family, schoolchildren, workers at an enterprise, ministries, the state, any structure.

First of all, we need to organize this structure so that it fully corresponds to the general structure of nature, according to the law of similarity to it.

And then it will already be clear that all the management does not come from the authorities, from top to bottom, in a straight line, head to head, as they say. This is not the method of a stick, a forceful approach, but a method of teaching the collective a system of similarity to nature within which solutions are developed that are similar to nature in its own properties and laws. In the decision-making process, the collective transforms itself, and then implements the decisions made.

Humanity is in a state where problems cannot be solved by forceful methods, and therefore crises arise. The collective must decide everything in the way of nature.

At the same time, we will integrate with nature since our decisions, correspondences, inconsistencies, and all our movements in the collective will bring us deeper and deeper into nature itself. We will, as it were, penetrate into it, feel its integrality and globality more and more, and feel all of humanity. Thus nature will force humanity to become similar to it.

The Beauty That Has Been Imposed On Us

626Question: A very interesting law has been passed in Norway. It prohibits the publication on social networks—on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter—of retouched images without special marking.

So if a blogger alters a picture, changes the proportions of the body, face, improves its appearance, applies a filter or mask, which they do all the time, then they must note the editing done.

The goal here is very simple: to combat the imposition of unrealistic beauty standards. Because children who are watch these are influenced by them. They get plastic surgery; they want to be like the photo! In fact what they see is fiction. How can a person come to the conclusion that this does not affect him or her, to an understanding of another kind of beauty?

Answer: This is impossible, a person is drawn to beauty.

Comment: But this is not beauty.

My Response: If this is set by society as a standard, then it becomes a standard of beauty.

Comment: But you want the person to walk differently.

My Response: I have other standards of beauty. I love beauty that is more delicate, more natural, harmonious. But when there is an unnatural face and pouting lips on it, it’s a horror!

Question: But still, I want to ask even more deeply about inner beauty. Will we ever come to understand it?

Answer: Our society is so far from this that I just have no idea how to talk about it. This must come through great revolutions.

Question: If, for example, I come to the understanding that inner beauty is much more important than everything external, do I notice this external beauty in a person?

Answer: You still remain human.

Question: So I still have an internal mark—is he a handsome person?

Answer: Yes. Moreover, you have even more subtle taste. You have an even greater need to see harmony in everything. Your beauty already lies in harmony. And if you see harmony, then you enjoy it.

Question: What is the inner beauty of a person for you? What is it?

Answer: The inner beauty of a person is when he sees the possibility of justice and even good, but at least justice, in everything around him, when everything is balanced according to the spiritual law “buy and sell,” that is, the law of receiving and giving.

Question: An internally beautiful person feels the absolute harmony of everything that exists around him?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And there is no evil?

Answer: Nothing! He puts himself in line with the Creator! And nothing can be bad, dirty, or disgusting. Everything is in perfect harmony. Because he sees not an external manifestation, but a force that controls all of creation from within.

Comment: It is beautiful that the spiritual also reflects the material. I thought that a person no longer pays attention to anything. And you say the opposite.

My Response: No! Moreover, it is written that when approaching complete correction, the taste of copulation and the understanding of beauty remain only with Kabbalists. This is very difficult.

Question: So only Kabbalists can truly enjoy both materially and internally?

Answer: Yes. They see this as the work of the Creator.
