An Ideological Difference

laitman_600_02The Torah, “Numbers,” 22:4: And Moab said unto the elders of Midian: “Now will this multitude lick up all that is round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.

The people of Moab fear that their ego will have nothing to feed on and that they will not be able to live according to the old laws, which means for a better corporeal life.

A person feels good in the world today: he fills his world with culture, science, builds a successful family, and tries to behave nicely. Everything blossoms and it is possible to reach such a life by communism and equality. So what is the difference if we establish communism and equality here, now, in this world, or whether we yearn to ascend to spirituality? The difference is simple: such ideas will lead to nothing in this world.

This is an ideological difference and therefore it is very difficult to reveal. Because eventually the outcome that both Kabbalists and altruists wish to reach seems the same and quite normal on the level of our world.

Although Kabbalists have yet to convince people that it is impossible to prosper in this way on the level of our world and that we have to reach it by studying the upper world; they also have to explain that it isn’t for the sake of our world, since it is merely an intermediate level on which a person stands on one leg in order to ascend to the next level.

Comment: What if you come to people who live in order to build a home, plant a tree, and raise children and tell them that this isn’t the purpose of life?

Answer: People today don’t see that as a special goal anymore, we have reached the end. Does anyone want to have a normal family and think about how to keep it? A person loses these desires, impulses, urges, and options at a young age these days.

As an adult, a person still tries to find a soul mate and perhaps even have a child, since after all he must do something until old age. But in the end it doesn’t work out. People today start a family when they are about 40, and then they break it up when they reach 50 although there is nowhere they can run to but the graveyard, to which the way is more or less a straight line.

It is clear that the concept of a family is gradually disappearing and people don’t want children in whom they have to invest 25-30 years either. A person has nothing left in life. So now it isn’t so difficult for people to understand, because we actually turn to their general feeling of disappointment. The media repeatedly presents ruined countries on TV, and this is the future of the whole world! We will soon see Europe just as we see Syria today. Can you imagine wild wolves roaming the ruins from Western to Eastern Europe?

Question: Do you mean that the Barbarians will come out of the woods and invade the cities?

Answer: They are the same Europeans who have turned into complete barbarians. They have no power or reason to conceal it and everything that was concealed internally is coming out. Their whole cultural structure will evaporate over time. It is the same in every person.

If you dig a bit more deeply you will see that the external wrapping immediately falls off and you don’t even need to scratch it off.

Question: Do you believe that they have no protection because of the Islamic invasion to other countries?

Answer: No, but the Islamists are stronger ideologically and there is nothing to be done about that. No religion can confront them since all the religions are already dying these days.

Russia, Turkey And The Beginning Of The Redemption

laitman_434Opinion (Mayin Kfir): “Does the tension between Russia and Turkey herald the redemption? …

“This tense situation recalls the words of the Gaon of Vilna that have passed in a tradition from generation to generation among his students: ‘When the Russian fleet passes through Bosphorus Strait (the Dardanelles) – it will be time to dress in Shabbat clothes to greet the coming of the Messiah.’ This strait is also called the Istanbul Strait, and it separates the European part of Turkey and its Asiatic part, and is in fact constitutes the border between the two continents. …

“In addition, many ancient writers interpret the prophecies of the redemption in the Bible, that before the redemption comes, as part of Armageddon, of the war of Gog and Magog, Magog being the children of the red wave will be aroused to fight with the children of Ishmael. And according to a tradition that is found in the hands of many of the descendants of the students of the Gaon – Magog is Russia.”

My Comment: It is only needed to add that most people do not understand all the talk about the war of Gog and Magog. The concept of the “redemption” is the redemption of humanity from its egoistic nature with which the Creator created it. Kabbalah has been revealed to us to change human nature.

Kabbalah teaches us how we can change our nature with the help of the upper force, the Light. Thus we change the sense of our reality: egoistically we feel what is going on within us; altruistically, we feel what is going on outside of us. The transition from the sensation “within us” to the sensation “outside of us,” meaning, “going outside of yourself,” is realized through the exercise “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (“Leviticus,” 19:18).

The sensation that is revealed is called the “upper world”; this state is the next state of the development of humanity, and this can be reached through peaceful means, which the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches, or by the way of suffering, which is war. We must carry out this choice in our day. The Messiah is the power that reveals the upper world to us. Messiah is derived from the word “Limshoch” – to pull, meaning to pull us out of this lowest world.

What Are We Wasting Our Life On?

laitman_546_03Question: If all the people begin to engage in spiritual development, who will produce all the corporeal goods and pleasures so that those who develop spiritually will be able to live in this world?

Answer: First, we should engage in both.

Second, if we engage only in what is essential to fill our corporeal body, we would produce 90% less than what we produce today. In other words, we wouldn’t live just in order to produce, sell, and throw away these products, and we would live a more peaceful life.

We would engage in spiritual development and attain perfect states instead of living in continuous tension and disappointment.

Material abundance doesn’t give us anything, what’s the point in it? A person only needs the basic necessities. The huge range of products is only the outcome of someone’s great desire to make a profit.

A person only needs bread and a few grains, a few types of cheese, vegetables, a little meat, chicken, and fish in order to lead a normal life. The main thing is that it is a healthy diet.

The abundance of products is only beneficial for their manufacturers. I realize that people invent new food products and other goods, but why should we have to suffer chasing after them? Is it because advertising forces us to? Is this what our life is spent on?!

The Mission Of A Kabbalist

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If the Kabbalists are so great, why do they come again into the world and suffer some more?

Answer: Kabbalists have their mission. They come into this world to serve humanity.

Question: Do you want to say that they have no life of their own?

Answer: No. Suppose that even though I am not a great Kabbalist, I sit like a monk, go out only for photographs and television programs, to a lesson or sit in front of my computer working on material and that’s it.

In what way am I different from a hermit? In nothing. What do I have besides? In principle, nothing. So what am I in this world for?

The life of a Kabbalist is to transfer knowledge to others, and that is how the chain continues until all of us reach the goal of creation, perfection and eternity.

How Should We Study The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

laitman_249-03Question: I have read one of your books and didn’t understand anything. How do I know whether I have already entered the upper world? What should I feel?

How do I know whether I have begun to develop spiritually? How can I acquire a Masach (screen)?

What egoistic desires should I have so that I should correct them? Is it about certain desires or about egoism as a whole? After all, it is infinite. I sometimes perceive my ego and I am ashamed of myself, but I don’t feel that I ascend spiritually or perhaps I don’t perceive this sensation.

What is more, there are no groups that study Kabbalah in my city and so I see everything on video. Is it possible to study Kabbalah this way?

Answer: You should study intensively and systematically according to the program of our virtual groups. When you join a virtual group you will find both a guide and friends in it.
Good luck!
