The Formula Of Life

laitman_214Question: What should I study the wisdom of Kabbalah for? What will this give me?

Answer: Studying the Kabbalah helps us to understand where we are. We exist within a particular program of nature, like in a matrix, that manages us. And through a reciprocal connection, we can also manage it.

But this is only in the case where we understand how to influence it and not just to improve our physical destiny, but to discover the meaning of life. A precise and permanent existential program was inserted in each one of us and in all of us together from the start. If we look at the history of humanity, we see that everything has developed according to a particular program, which none of us planned from the start. Our destiny was inscribed from the start, but a person doesn’t know what will happen tomorrow.

Question: Is there a way to know this?

Answer: There is. The wisdom of Kabbalah was specifically given to us to discover our destiny. People reach the wisdom of Kabbalah not just to discover their fate, but also to correct it. The wisdom of Kabbalah is wisdom about life, it has been prepared for everyone, and there is a personal way within it for each individual.

Question: In other words, the wisdom of Kabbalah is a formula with which to calculate the fate of each person?

Answer: Certainly, I and my students study it. It is more or less universal for everyone, but it seems different to everyone when applying it.

Who Is The “Other?”

laitman_622_01Question: What do the Kabbalists mean by the concept of “other?” Is this every person or a particular group of people? You say that love is fulfillment of the desires of others, but after all, aren’t there different desires?

Answer: When a person begins to feel the higher system, he begins to understand how it is up to him to relate to people correctly. If I were to say to you that the other is everyone, then you would ask, does this mean that I must embrace the enemy, the one who hates me? It is very difficult to explain this according to the usual perception.

The wisdom of Kabbalah, first and foremost, brings the person to the study, a discovery of the higher system. From this, it will become clear to him who the other is, who is near, who is distant, what love is, and what hatred is. Otherwise, he would not understand anything.

So, all of my explanations are directed only toward making it possible for a person to relate to the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly and to begin to learn methodically in the right group. In this way, he invites upon himself and stimulates the Upper Light that will correct him, open his eyes, and he will become a Kabbalist.

Seeing Through The Eyes Of A Baby

Laitman_197_01Question: Scientists who studied 42 babies came to the conclusion that babies see things that adults cannot see.

Answer: This is typical not only of babies. I remember that we were having lunch once, and my wife was serving the meal to everyone around the table when our little daughter who was about two years-old pointed at an empty chair and asked her mother why she didn’t serve him anything, as if someone was sitting in the empty chair.

Question: In the above study, scientists refer to the same things. Babies from the age of six months to three years notice different small and “unimportant” things that a grownup wouldn’t notice. Babies also can see mysterious figures.

Answer: This assertion has a strong basis. Babies have the feeling of the upper world. A small child suddenly can begin to pray, although he doesn’t understand anything, is not connected to the Creator, is not raised in a religious family, and has not read or heard anything about it yet. However, he already feels that since his internal nature pushes him toward the upper level, so young children have this inclination until it gradually disappears because of the external influences of our world.

Question: Does this phenomenon have a Kabbalistic basis?

Answer: Of course, the Reshimot (reminiscences) are the basis of a person’s nature, and it develops for a while. If a person continues to develop it, he continues to grow naturally into the spiritual world, but since we don’t develop it, it remains in us in its embryonic phase, and only our ego and our body develop while the spiritual part remains inside us.

Question: Do people who begin to engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah seemingly return to the phase of infancy?

Answer: Not only that, they return to their embryonic phase, and when a person goes through spiritual levels, he feels to some extent as if he were in his mother’s womb and then as if he is born and develops.

Geometry Was Invented In Babylon

Laitman_115_04In the news (bbc.com): “Sophisticated geometry – the branch of mathematics that deals with shapes – was being used at least 1,400 years earlier than previously thought, a study suggests.

“Research shows that the Ancient Babylonians were using geometrical calculations to track Jupiter across the night sky.

“Previously, the origins of this technique had been traced to the 14th Century. …

“It had been thought that complex geometry was first used by scholars in Oxford and Paris in medieval times.

“They used curves to trace the position and velocity of moving objects.

“But now scientists believe the Babylonians developed this technique around 350 BC. …

“Prof Ossendrijver examined five Babylonian tablets that were excavated in the 19th Century, and which are now held in the British Museum’s archives.

“The script reveals that they were using four-sided shapes, called trapezoids, to calculate when Jupiter would appear in the night sky, and also the speed and distance that it travelled.

“’This figure – a rectangle with a slanted top – describes how the velocity of a planet, which is Jupiter, changes with time,’ he said.

“We have a figure where one axis, the horizontal side, represents time, and the other axis, the vertical side, represents velocity.

“The area of trapezoid gives you the distance travelled by Jupiter along its orbit.

“’What is so special is this type of graph is unknown from antiquity – so making figures of motion in this rather abstract space of velocity against time – this is something very, very new.’”

My Comment: According to the writings of the wisdom of Kabbalah, Abraham, who was a Babylonian priest, lived during that period and according to our opinion, would be considered a scientist and his father was as well. They were a famous family of scientists; there they also developed the wisdom of Kabbalah, which had been handed down for generations from Adam HaRishon (First Man). The wisdom of Kabbalah was used for correction of the person, in his union with others, and for discovery of the upper force through this unity.

In those days it was considered to be an absolutely practical science, a science for discovery of the upper force of nature. And in our day we are also returning to the same attitude toward the wisdom of Kabbalah. If so, it is possible to say that Babylonian civilization also developed the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Historical Meeting

laitman_269Question: After a thousand year rift that divided Christianity between East and West, an historical meeting was held recently between Pope Francis and the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill. Did they truly unite?

Answer: It is not whether they united or not; the fact is that all religions worldwide universally exist within human egoism, which causes them to enter into an irreversible crisis. The ego has grown and religion could not give the evolving person an answer to the question that arises in him about the meaning of life: How he can manage his life correctly, toward what he must bring it and toward what nature is leading us?

Religion has remained on the same level that it was 2,000 years ago when the nations of the world got it from the wisdom of Kabbalah. The wisdom of Kabbalah was the religion of the people of Israel until the destruction of the Second Temple. Then out of it came modern Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Since then, they haven’t changed.

Neither Judaism, Christianity, nor Islam can give an answer to their faithful audience because humans have evolved in the direction of attainment. Since humans have attained our world with the help of science, they also want to recognize and achieve their fate, their life, their destiny, and everything else that is found above them scientifically.

But religion is not capable of that. It can only serve a small, egoistic person, making it possible for him to suppress the question about the meaning of life. It says to a person, “Believe,” and he believes, and in order to settle down into this mollification, he slowly lowers a screen over his eyes. Then he apparently doesn’t see or think, he believes and that’s it. Moreover, this doesn’t depend on his intellect but on his inner psychological need.

The wisdom of Kabbalah says that to everything that religion preaches, a person must truly apply the religious Mitzvah (commandment), “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18); and the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches how to apply it.

Religion talks about the existence of an upper world, a Gan Eden (Paradise, Heaven), a Gehenna (Hell), and the rest of its symbols, and the wisdom of Kabbalah claims that it is up to us to come to discover these concepts now, here in this world. Our world includes all the worlds generally, and all the various possible situations can be seen and attained while still within this world, in this life, right here and now.

And so, of course, Kabbalah, a further development of all the sciences, comes to change religions..So understandably, the religions are very opposed to it. This is less so for Christianity and Islam because it is still far from them.

But this is certainly so for Judaism since it sees a very great threat to its continued existence in the wisdom of Kabbalah. The wisdom of Kabbalah just shakes up the entire enormous mechanism that has been built by religion to serve, to subdue, to influence and control the people, the believers, in that it opposes all the rules and laws that exist in popular Judaism, which tell a person to shut his eyes and believe without any true understanding of both the prayers and the Mitzvot. Understandably, in this form they cannot talk about fulfilling the law, “And you shall love your friend as yourself”; all of that is forgotten and left on the side.

So a very big difference exists between religion and the wisdom of Kabbalah regarding a person’s approach to creation, humanity, and everything that happens with him. This is talking about a fundamental change in his internal mechanism of understanding and perception. In other words, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, a person must rise above the animate level within himself to a higher level.

Humanity is facing a big problem that will produce suffering on its spiritual level. We are in the beginning of this process and I hope that we can lay down a good and solid foundation for humanity. Then it will be easier for us to move forward.

Einstein Was Right

Laitman_051Question: Scientists in the US claim that they have succeeded in proving Einstein’s theory regarding gravity waves, a discovery that is worthy of a Nobel Prize. How does humanity benefit from such discoveries?

Answer: Such discoveries give people a sense of security since they are based on the laws of this world that can be discovered, predicted, and explained, at least partly. They confirm that our world is a world of the laws of nature, and this is very important.

The law of gravity is the most important law of nature, the law of the general egoism. There is a force that pulls everything, but where is it? How can it be explained?

After all, we can measure it, but we don’t actually feel it and don’t understand the nature of this force. This is a big problem since the major force that is closest to us that we depend on is hidden from us. In fact, it is not hidden, but is simply the foundation. It is the egoistic force of any matter that pulls toward itself. Therefore it is hard to find or to define it, and until this very day not everything is totally clear about this force.

Although this is a great achievement, we should also realize that if we want to attain nature itself, we have to ascend to the next level, to the place it stems from.  After all, all of nature in our world, including subatomic forces and the force of gravity are built according to the four phases of the development of matter that descend from the next level, from the upper level and are revealed in our world as a result.

Therefore, we must ascend to the next level in order to understand them and find what their nature is, their source, and the reason for such phenomena, and not study them on the level they are revealed.

The only way to ascend to the next level is through the wisdom of Kabbalah because we must first change ourselves, change our way of thinking, and reach the state in which we can ascend above our nature. According to Kabbalah we all will have to explore the upper world and establish the basis of our life in it.

Question: Did Einstein have a premonition of the upper level?

Answer: No, he understood it in his mind, but at the same time he was sure that the upper mind and upper forces exist. Although he did not attain them, he attained that level of perception by opening himself to them.

New Life #510 – Meditation And Contemplation, Part 2

New Life #510 – Meditation And Contemplation, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

The Eastern methods stem from Abraham who gave presents to the concubines and sent them eastward. Abraham wanted them to have something that would enable them to manage with the ego until the time for them to correct it came.

Those who were ready for correction became his student and he taught them Kabbalah, the way of fulfilling “Love thy friend as thyself.”

Through the connection between us, we return to the state before the shattering of the general soul and become as one. When our internal particles connect again into one system, the force of the Creator is revealed in it. This is the reason that there should be a group of people, a Minyan.

We don’t annul the ego, but rise above it. Nature develops us toward perfect connection and unity, whether we like it or not, whether we understand it or not. This is evolution. The connection is actually built by using the ego in a new manner opposite from the natural manner.

Kabbalistic meditation, if you call it, a person can be kept with the feeling of a full life.

A person feels a new dimension in his corrected connection with others; the Light, the force of bestowal, is revealed in him. There are upper worlds that exist above time, space, and motion, the worlds of Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, Atzilut, Adam Kadmon and Ein Sof (Infinity). A person can constantly have the feeling of a full through Kabbalistic meditation, if you call it that. When you study the wisdom of Kabbalah, you don’t resign from ordinary life, but work on connection with others and discover the upper force.

In connection workshops according to Kabbalah, we discuss questions related to the connection between us and connect in the center of the circle. In a connection workshop we should think about how I can help everyone connect and feel the upper force in this connection.

New Life 509 – Meditation And Contemplation, Part 1

New Life 509 – Meditation And Contemplation, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Meditation helps a person relax and contemplate himself and the world from inner relaxation. Yet according to the Kabbalistic definitions, this activity is not spiritual!

Only in the wisdom of Kabbalah is there the power of the Light that can take a person out of the desire to receive and bring him to the desire to bestow. When a person eliminates his ego, he senses that the entire world is a single system, yet he cannot control this system.

The Kabbalists make “intentions,” concentrating their energy on connection with others, to discover the upper force. In a Kabbalistic group, people work together on transitioning from the “I” to “We” to “One” with the help of the power of the Light; this is something that doesn’t exist in other methods. The levels of ascent are described in detail in the books of Kabbalah.

The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t suppress the ego; on the contrary, it makes use of all its intensity. This wisdom is for learning how to receive correctly: in the “Middle Line” integrating the power of reception and the power of bestowal found in nature and expanding them without limit, so we merit receiving in the best way.

New Life #507 – Why Is The Bible Considered To Be A Holy Book?

New Life #507 – Why Is the Bible Considered To Be a Holy Book?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Summary

The holy books speak about something higher than our world. In order to attain and understand what they are saying, we must become holy. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains to us that holiness is the characteristic of bestowal and love. These are divine qualities that every person in our world must acquire.

Holy books were written by people who attained divinity, and their goal was to help us also attain what they attained. The Kabbalists explain that those authors wrote these holy books in the “language of the branches,” which is a special coded language through which they could describe the higher forces in our language.

The Bible is not a historical book; it is a living book. It is a book in which high spiritual states are described that every person can and must ascend and attain. All that we must do is to take the words about this world that are written in the book and explore and attain their true meaning, which is that they basically are describing a world that is above our world. Basically, when we read the Bible with its true inner meaning, we discover the operating system that manages our lives and our world.

After all, everything in our world—the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking—are operated by spiritual forces. All we must do is to recognize this operating system in order to attain the properties of bestowal and love.
