Bacteria Communicate

laitman_571_01Research (from sci-news.com): “’Bacteria living in communities communicate with one another electrically through proteins called ‘ion channels,’ explained Dr Gürol Süel of the University of California San Diego, lead author on the study…

“Dr Süel and co-authors discovered that when a biofilm composed of Bacillus subtilis bacterial cells grows to a certain size, the protective outer edge of cells, with unrestricted access to nutrients, periodically stopped growing to allow nutrients – specifically glutamate, to flow to the sheltered center of the biofilm.

“The researchers observed oscillations in membrane potential that matched the oscillations in biofilm growth and found that ion channels were responsible for these changes in membrane potential…

“’Just like the neurons in our brain, we found that bacteria use ion channels to communicate with each other through electrical signals. In this way, the community of bacteria within biofilms appears to function much like a microbial brain,’ Dr Süel said.”

My Comment: All parts of nature (still, vegetative, and animate) are mutually and integrally linked. Only human desires and thoughts are absolutely egoistic. As it is written: “I created the evil inclination” (Kiddushin 30b), meaning there is nothing more we need to do!

To counterbalance the evil inclination, egoism, a man needs to desire the lack for the desire to bestow to others. Mutual bestowal exists instinctively in nature. It does not exist in human society.

However, a person can summon the power of bestowal according to the law of equivalence of form: if a group of people decides to relate to each other as a single whole (this is described in the articles of Rabash about the group) and examines the proper relationship between the system (which is the whole issue of Kabbalistic sources), they cause to themselves, through their actions, the manifestation of the positive force of love and bestowal (the Creator).

Everything that occurs in our world happens only for the purpose of forcing people, or rather the Jews, having been committed in the past, to reveal the Creator between them, and then transfer this methodology to all mankind. The delay in revealing this technique is the reason for hatred of the Jews. This is the cause of anti-Semitism. Let us be like the bacteria!

New Life 681 – The Role Of The Three Religions

New Life 681 – The Role Of The Three Religions
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Part of humanity has a passive ego, like in the Far East, and the part that has a developed ego created the religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

The ego began to develop from Judaism in ancient Babylon. Abraham discovered the upper force and invited everyone to learn how to discover the upper force in the connection between them. The nation of Israel was united with the upper force until the destruction of the First Temple, until the connection of love between the children of Israel was ruined, and since then, Judaism has turned into a religion of external actions without the attainment of the Creator.

Popular Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the three lines that are supposed to lead humanity forward and prepare it for the revelation of the Creator. Christianity has taught a big part of the world about the existence of the upper force and has assimilated concepts like prayer, reward and punishment, this world, the next world, and more.

Christianity even has developed culture, art, science, and higher education in universities. Later, Islam began to spread, and the Christian sages who underestimated the Sufi sages forced the Muslims to convert to Christianity by rape and by sword.

Today, Christianity is growing weaker and Islam is rising. Later, the two religions will unite against us Jews, and we will be forced to repent, which means to return to love of others and the revelation of the Creator between us. Then, the upper force will fight for us so that we will be able to change all of mankind for the better and spread love among everyone.

In fact, none of the religions actually engages in love of others and doesn’t set it as a goal, including Judaism. Only the wisdom of Kabbalah explains to humanity how to return to the connection between us and thus pull the entire world out of the crisis it is in. This is the correct meaning of being light unto the nations of the world.

New Life 679 – Transforming Into People Of Light

New Life 679 – Transforming Into People Of Light
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

To understand what Torah and Mitzvot (commandments) are from a spiritual aspect, we must disengage the subject from our previous knowledge. Kabbalah explains that the entire substance of creation is egoistic, the desire to receive, exist, and enjoy. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us a unique method for developing the “speaking” level, the level of Adam (from Domeh – similar), that is similar to the upper force through using the positive force to correct the negative in us, and this is called “studying Torah.”

The desire to receive is comprised of 613 desires—248 are more refined and 365 are denser—and with correction of the desires, a person becomes a person of Light, a person of bestowal and love. Our development brings us to the understanding that the ego is destroying us, the recognition of evil, which leads to correction.

Since the intention to act for the good of others is concealed, it is impossible to know with what intent a person is acting. When we work in a group according to the method of the wisdom of Kabbalah, the 613 desires that we must correct are gradually revealed in us, and to identify these 613 desires within us and correct them, we must attract 613 Lights on us. In the beginning we identify only one egoistic desire, and after that we clarify the rest of the details.

Like a drop of semen that enters the uterus and develops into a fetus, the person also enters a special group and grows in it, and through communication with a group according to the special method, a sense develops in him that identifies the desire to bestow. The 613 Mitzvot are the 613 desires, each one of which, we must work with for the sake of others, with the intention of bestowal.

Hawking’s Error

laitman_600_02Comment: Renowned British physicist Professor Stephen Hawking has been warning that progress is liable to lead the human species to its end. He suggests establishing colonies in space where people could live.

Answer: Scientists today realize they have reached an impasse. They have no solutions to offer for the problems that humanity is facing, and they are continuing to develop technology that will take us off the Earth, to the stars, into the depths of nature, and nothing more.

In the past, we thought science would redeem us from all problems and that the development of technology, culture, education, and information would make it possible for humanity to be elevated above everything, but we are beginning to understand that this is not what will bring us happiness.

Today science is beginning to show us that everything depends on the man, on our development, not on our intellectual development because we use our intellect egoistically, for our personal benefit, for the enslavement of others, and are annihilating our own achievements. Fifty years ago we couldn’t imagine that we would reach this situation.

In the 60s of the 20th century, space flight began; the American dream appeared—everyone would have a house, a car, work, social benefits, etc. What is happening today? The middle class is being destroyed; in fact, it no longer exists; students in families with average incomes are forced to work part-time to pay for their education.

The ego has developed such that one percent of the world population holds and controls most of the wealth while the remaining 99 percent, the lower classes, are left without the ability to develop, existing only on the crumbs necessary for survival while serving the needs of the upper percentile.

Question: In your opinion, will scientists succeed in breaking through to a new way of thinking in the future?

Answer: The future doesn’t depend on the scientists but on a change in a person’s psychological perception of the person. Today humanity doesn’t have the power to implement this change because the world is managed only according to egoistic inclinations.

This is evident on all the levels of development in nature: the animate, the vegetative, and even the inanimate, and all the more so the human who is helped by science and technology to egoistically manage all of them only for his own benefit.

Question: The eternal question arises: What can be done?

Answer: This is not an eternal question. It stands before us only today because it is rises from the depths of despair of a tired, disappointed humanity that lacks the ability to do anything. And the answer is in Kabbalah, and we are obliged to bring it to every person. This is our task.

Help us in this! I am sure that we will succeed in this.

New Life 673 – Torah And Mitzvot: Not What You Thought

New Life 673 – Torah And Mitzvot: Not What You Thought
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Humanity lives in its world without being aware of the system that manages it, and so it takes a beating. This system is what we call “Torah.” The Torah describes the 613 forces that manage a person and the 613 desires that are desirable as a correct reaction to the active forces. The situation is like a person who is in a dark room with a treasure, and he is hungry and sad, not seeing anything. And only if he implements the Torah and Mitzvot (commandments) according to the definition of Mitzvot in the wisdom of Kabbalah, will he correct his desires and discover the Light.

From the period of the destruction of the first Beit HaMikdash (Temple), the decline of the generations began, and ignorance spread among the people of Israel about the understanding of the Torah and Mitzvot. The children of Israel who fell under the control of the ego stopped seeing life spiritually and the attitude towards the Torah and Mitzvot became a formality. They implemented the Mitzvot in their literal sense as written in the Torah in an external form without trying to reach, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18), and the connection with the Light that Reforms to correct the soul disappeared.

If we return to the internal and correct implementation of Torah and Mitzvot, another world will be opened for us, and we will discover the upper force that is the general force in nature, and we will understand how it acts on us and toward what it is leading us. The correct reaction of a person to this force makes him similar to it until he becomes one with it.

It is our obligation today to teach humanity what the correct meaning of Torah and Mitzvot is; otherwise, life will just go on until a time when it will be possible to attain eternity. According to the religious perception, a person expects a reward, a paradise in the next world while the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us that everything depends on the person who attains it, “You will see your world in your lifetime” (Berachot 17a), and if we develop love for each other, we will discover the upper world.

In the past we attained the upper world from which we understood how to relate to everything that exists on all levels of existence: still, vegetative, animate, and speaking. Over time, the feeling of the upper world disappeared and we were left with only mechanical actions without any correction of the heart.

The human ego is in constant development; the world is continuing to become more difficult, filled with emptiness, and humanity doesn’t know how to fulfill itself. The screaming will be terrible until ultimately everyone will reach the question: What are we living for? And then a new world will open before us.

With the help of the Light that Reforms, we correct the 613 desires in us, from egoism to love. Each one of us is connected to others with 613 threads; in our egoistic nature we want to exploit each other, and the correction is to want to connect and bestow goodness to everyone.

What Are Kabbalah Books About?

laitman_527_04Question: Are Kabbalah books written according to the Jewish tradition?

Answer: Kabbalah books have nothing to do with any tradition. They explain how to treat other people and how to build a relationship between this world and the highest world, to discover the secret parts of the universe—all the other worlds that are around us and govern us.

Then we will be able to manage our lives in the reverse order. At the same time, we will reach beyond the physical limits of our short lives, our small forces, and can see through time.

There is no need to tie the wisdom of Kabbalah to any tradition; a Kabbalist can be Indian, Arab, Norwegian, or from South America—no matter who. It does not say anything about earthly rules except one: bringing people together into one integral whole just like all of nature.

How Can You Find The Goal And The Way To Attain It?

Laitman_049_02Question: During the years 2007 to 2008, residents of Libya and northern Iraq stopped investing in children’s education, in projects that dealt with their policies, and began living as if with no future, as if subconsciously acknowledging that they felt a crisis was near.

Answer: People are drawn to the ideological connection between them. They have understood that humanity needs some kind of special mission, goal.

Thus, ISIS and other organizations were created that, as a result, developed a terrorist system that attracts youth from all nations in the world since it gives them hope and primarily because they gather under the slogan, “Together we will achieve something, change something.” This appeal attracts people.

We need to show the world a parallel system with a call to attract them to good deeds, good ways, and not negative ones. Otherwise we will lose everyone. After all, with each day that passes, more and more people turn to drugs or are attracted to all kinds of terrorist organizations not connected to ISIS that are being organized in different places

Question: Over the past decade of radical Islam, the so-called Jihad gained huge popularity. But in parallel, we’re also seeing the growth or formation of these extreme ideological currents in other religions. Could this indicate that the old civilization is ending?

Answer: All religions are structured on the same egoism, and although they have proclaimed “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” not one of them is involved in this and are not able to be involved because if they should become involved, no one would join them. Thus, there is no future for religions: not Judaism, not Christianity, and not Islam.

The future lies only in the development of mutual connection between human beings. We need to hope that this connection is not built on the basis of mutual hatred like ISIS, but on the foundation of mutual love and attraction to good mutual cooperation of all peoples of the world.

We all are connected to each other and are within one single system, and the question is for what purpose we use this system. We can use it like ISIS and all kinds of Jihad organizations do, or it’s possible to develop the correct perspective on human existence as a whole, where everyone is equal and no ideology or system tries to control or subjugate others.

Question: Can we control the process of self-development?

Answer: No, for this to happen, we need to abandon the previous paradigm completely, to renounce our ego and our nature, and want to change. This hasn’t arrived yet.  First we need to want to find the meaning of life.

The main mission standing before us now is to confront humanity with the question of what is the meaning of our existence. And then we gradually find the correct goal and the way to attain it.

All Of You Have Time

laitman_599_02Question: How can a person develop to such a degree that he can engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah, understand it, accept it, and ascend to the level of unity in such a short lifetime?

Answer: People of different ages come to study with us. Life isn’t as short as it seems, but is accurately built according to laws that enable a person to fulfill himself properly during his lifetime. The moment you begin to engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah, you have the feeling that time flies and that you don’t have enough time.

But, in fact, time becomes compressed, and suddenly you feel that you can manage everything. This is how it is arranged from above by the upper leadership.

You don’t live in an unknown world by unknown rules. The moment that you begin to operate toward the goal of creation, you immediately are incorporated in it and are under the influence of totally different forces. A person can begin to study the wisdom of Kabbalah at the age of 70 and still manage everything. There is no limit.

We don’t need to think about that. It isn’t our job but that of the leadership system, which only now reveals to us that we need to care for the integrality of all of mankind, a process we can take a most active part in and that won’t take place without us.

Internal And External Interpertations Of The Torah

laitman_219_01Question: Is there a connection between Israel, the Jewish people, Judaism, and the Torah?

Answer: Unfortunately these concepts are only slightly connected at the moment.

The Jewish people are the nation that was founded according to the laws of the wisdom of Kabbalah, the laws of close cooperation, mutual help, and a mutual struggle over egoism, to raise above egosim in the connection between us.

To do this there is a whole method that teaches us how to rise above our increasingly growing ego. When we reach this connection, the spiritual connection that appears between us enables us to be a nation.

Modern Judaism is divided into two parts:

  • Judaism that implements the external part of the Torah and focuses on observing the Mitzvot (commandments) in the corporeal earthly form as Orthodox Jews do.
  • Judaism that implements the internal part of the Torah and focuses on intentions: “What am I doing this for, what is my goal?” The focus here is not on the physical observation but on the internal observation of the Mitzvot that are aimed at ascending above our nature, and the ascent that follows to the next level of our existence, a level on which we exist before we are born and after we die.

These two parts of the Torah are opposites: the internal part of the Torah is called the wisdom of Kabbalah and the external part is called the keeping of the corporeal Mitzvot.

The wisdom of Kabbalah will gradually be revealed not only to the Jews but also to all the people in the world because everyone has to eventually reach complete mutual cooperation between them thanks to the wisdom of Kabbalah, since otherwise this world has no right to exist.

The year 5,776 according to the Hebrew calendar is now coming to an end. According to the Torah humanity has to reach the full mutual connection by the end of the year 6,000. There are 224 years left to reach the state in which we will be able to feel as organs in one healthy body, living in complete cooperation between us. Can you imagine that? Everyone connected to seven billion other people.

This is what we have to do. It is possible on the spiritual level. When you ascend a bit with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah, you begin to see a totally different dimension, the leadership system of our world in mutual cooperation. In fact you can choose your future.

Connection Of Kabbalah And Science

Efraim Eliav, my student, theoretical physicist, University of Petrograd graduate (1985), PhD (1988), currently professor and researcher of relativistic quantum chemistry, Tel-Aviv University prepared the following presentation.

Presentation Overview:

I. Scientific and Kabbalistic Views of the World

Three planes of comparison: ontological, epistemological and methodological (brief definition and description).

THESIS: Science is experiencing a growing systemic crisis.

A. Ontological Problems in Science:

Examples:

1. Matter and energy known to science—the latest data:
In reality, we are familiar with only 4% (approximately) of matter and energy.
1990 – discovery of the dark matter (74% of the universe); with an irregular property E.

The completeness of this picture is also in doubt. Openly debated questions about the existence of an additional layer—the noo-sphere, and possibly other informational membranes not directly connected with the known (material) carriers continue.

2. Problems of life and living matter.

Synthesis of a live cell from scratch.
Mysteries of evolutionary leaps.
“Chemical” problems of evolution, etc.

B. Epistemological Problems in Science.

Limited understanding of major issues:

Truth and essence.
Essence of cognition.
Layers of cognition.
Principles of comprehension (cognition).
Faith and knowledge.
Understanding and justification.

– The limitations of individual observer’s sensors as well as instruments (e.g. Plank’s parameters).
– Physiological limits of the individual observer’s brain (typical rate of chemical reactions, the nature of soliton propagation of nerve impulses in the cerebral cortex, active zones are limited and so forth. As a result—low efficiency, inferiority to mechanical intellect on numerous parameters).

C. Methodological Problems in Science – in aggregate approaches and methods for the study of reality.

Two diverging approaches used in scientific methodology: empirical and theoretical. The principal limitation of the “instrument” of perception.
The transformation of some branches of fundamental science to philosophy. The scientific world is limited in purpose, methodology, tools and objects.
The Kabbalistic view of the world removes all the above limitations.

II. Advantages of Kabbalistic View of the World Over the Scientific:

A. Timeliness (incredible relevance, topicality and even “acuteness”) + modernity + the most extensive compared to other sciences’ research experience (6,000 years).

B. A unique, truly coherent and comprehensive objective criteria, based on a fundamentally altruistic “beyond-the collective” perception of reality. Systemic and systematic methodology and investigator-Kabbalist. A harmonious blend of sensual and adequate (typical of material art) and rational (ascribed normal science) research approaches. A mandatory system-altruistic transformation of the individual investigator – in Kabbalah, genius and evil are incompatible.

C. Kabbalah—the science is targeted, universal, integrated and unlimited (the scope of the material world and worldview of the egoistic individual researchers):

– Answers not only the question “HOW?” but also “WHY?” It is strictly human-oriented. The ultimate goal of Kabbalah—the revelation of the single, universal and creative force of Universe, and is based on the harmonization of man, society and nature.
– Uses a single, universal method for the discovery and subsequent application of the most general and universal laws of nature operating on all 4 levels of the organization of matter, as well as in above-the-material reality. (Kabbalah is the only science that has the instruments and methodology for the study of the overall structure and functioning of all life.) Kabbalah has the ability to deal with systemic crises in all spheres of the Universe.

III. The Correspondence Between Scientific Evidence and Laws and Kabbalistic Laws in accordance with the rule of “root and branch.”

Basic laws of Kabbalah (according to Baal HaSulam and Laitman) “roots” and scientific “branches.” (Examples)

A. “The law is granted; it’s impossible to circumvent it” + “I do not alter My essence” + “There is a thought in the beginning; there is the creation at the end.”

1. Laws of nature (physical, chemical, mathematical…) that work on all all scales at all times. Strict determinism of fundamental laws of physics and chemistry (including quantum physics).

2. The anthropic principle (particularly in the “strong” form) and “fine tuning.” Examples: physical constants, astronomical correlations (ratios), chemical “autosynthesis” of biomolecules, strong and weak interactions of nuclear matter.

3. The “goal oriented nature” of the Big Bang and evolution of the Universe

4. “Circular” symmetry in nature. Laws of conservation of energy and momentum + SU symmetry in the “standard” model of elementary particles.

B. Nothing ever “disappears” in spirituality.
The law of conservation of information is the major law of physics and all natural sciences.

Manifestations of the law:
– Quantum entanglement (“tangled” states) + instant transfer of information. Phenomena of quantum teleportation, cryptography, computations;
– Quantum coherence of Universe resulting from quantum entanglement proto-matter;
– Holographic nature of Universe.

C. “Nothing was ever created but the Light and the vessel” (with opposite properties—“the inverse order of the Lights and vessels).

1. The existence of only two types (families) of elementary particles that show dissimilar collective behavior: bosons (“altruists”) and fermions (“egoists”); mathematicians formally admit the existence of two other types (“statistics”). However, due to unknown reasons, scientists only realize two types.

2. Differences between the inanimate, vegetative, animate and speaking levels from the points of view of physics and Kabbalah;

3. Analog nature and infinity of spiritual worlds opposed to the digital (and therefore quantized) as well as limited in space, time and movement (speed) of the material world. The finiteness of the universe in time and space. Hubble’s law and the shape of a finite universe.

4. There is no light without a vessel – a vessel is created by the light.

– Forces of Nature as a result of the interaction of bosons with a minimum of 2 fermions;
– The initial phase of the Big Bang – unified interface (proto-bosons against the “dark” background of virtual proto-fermions).

5.  The general and particular are equal + everything consists of 10 Sephirot

a. The similarity of the micro and macro worlds (10-dimensional string theory and 10-dimensional model of a finite universe);

b. Fractal patterns in physics, chemistry, biology, sociology. The special role of “10” in various phenomena;

c. The phenomenon of superconductivity. (Cooper pairs and dozens);

6. Abraham’s formula of the universe: World, Year, Soul (space, time, cognition) + “man – the crown of creation”

a. The sequence of changes in view in the role of the observer in physics (Newton, Einstein, Pauli, Everett, Penrose, Aronov).

b. Relativistic Quantum physics and the phenomenon of consciousness. Link between cognition and space and time. Aronov’s theory.

c. Experiments with a double slit—behavior of micro-objects dependent on the observer’s consciousness. Correction of consciousness—the restructuring of the world at the level of micro-objects.

CONCLUSION:

Kabbalah not only meets the most stringent criteria of science:

1. Reliability—an explanation of known phenomena + prediction of new,

2. Empiricism—multiple testing by numerous and diverse investigators at different times and locations

3. Openness to researchers and the general public,

but Kabbalah also provides the most complete, unified and accurate model (picture) of the world.
