Question: There is a thirst for knowledge and for spirituality that is awakening today. Does the force that is against knowledge and attainment appear at the same time?

Answer: It must be so! A person is given both the pushing force and the resisting force so that he will discover himself through these two forces.

If a person advances only by the force of nature, it will be the result of the instinctive evolutionary force that has pushed humanity to develop for millions of years. Humanity didn’t develop by itself but was developed by these forces.

When a person wants to develop under the pressure of one external force, and at the same time, there is another external force that is a force of resistance, a person feels as if he is between the hammer and the anvil. This is the point from which a person can develop and discover himself, and grow through these two opposite forces. A person turns into a spiritual creature through the right conflict between the two forces.

The upper force leads a person to clarify things between these two forces in order to form the third force through them, which is called the middle line.

Question: Can we say that there are several spiritual attainments, or is there only one?

Answer: The nature of our world is the ego, and the nature of the upper world is the attribute of bestowal, which is expressed by altruism.

It is on top of the conflict between these two forces that we resemble the Creator. There is no other way.

Therefore, all the methods that use different forces, actions, and manipulations simply know nothing about these two major parameters in nature, the force of receiving and the force of bestowal, one versus the other.

Question: In your blog you include some Psalms of David. Would it also be worthwhile to similarly include the main prayers from the Siddur (prayer book), which are essential for our spiritual advancement?

Answer: I think that it is still too early to study the Siddur. We are talking in our lessons about prayers as the correct expression of turning toward the Creator, of His revelation to the Kabbalists.

The Kabbalists discovered the Creator, and from their practical experience in turning to Him, meaning the creation within them of desires, requests, MAN, they described the formation of prayers for us.

But we ourselves must be in connection with the Creator, at least on the level of Lo Lishma (not for Her name), so that the words of the Siddur that were created by the giant Kabbalists, the participants in the Great Assembly more than two thousand years ago, will not seem naïve and strange.

“The age of 40” in Kabbalah

Question: There is a rumor that a person can start studying Kabbalah only after the age of 40. Is that correct?

Answer: It is a big misunderstanding that one is not supposed to study Kabbalah until he is 40 years old. In the wisdom of Kabbalah, the number 40 means the level of Bina.

A person who has reached the level of Bina obtains the absolute property of bestowal where he can reveal the entire enormous Light of Hochma that governs the entire universe. Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah has two parts: before the level of Bina and above it. Everyone is able to study up to the level of Bina. However, above it, only those who are capable can continue and rise further.

The level of Bina is called “the age of 40.” Therefore, the only people who can “study Kabbalah”—meaning, receive the Light of Hochma—are those who have reached the level of Bina, which is defined by the number 40. However, this has nothing to do with the biological age of a person.

As proof, there is the example,of famous Kabbalists who died at a young age without reaching the age of 40, such as the ARI, Rabbi Nachman from Breslav, and others. Obviously, they began studying Kabbalah long before they were 40 years old.

There was also a ban for unmarried people to study Kabbalah. It was considered that a person with a family was more stable and balanced, and as a result, they would be more suitable for the study. However, during those times, people used to marry when they were 16 to 17 years old.

Question: The collection of Isaac Newton’s manuscripts in the national library in Jerusalem was recently included in UNESCO’s register, “Memory of the “World,” a list that preserves and provides access to treasures of spiritual value that contributed to humanity throughout history.

A history of 300 years preceded that. Newton died in 1727. He had no wife or children, and his manuscripts were passed on to his nephews who kept them at home. Newton’s relatives wanted to pass on his writings for scientific research, but university representatives refused to accept them.

Answer: Newton was a very special person. He was like Einstein in his day, and in addition, a deep researcher of nature. Newton was actually a serious Kabbalist and learned Hebrew especially for that purpose.

Question: In 1936, John Maynard Keynes bought Newton’s manuscripts. He read them a little and decided to keep away from them.

Answer: He was simply afraid to touch them and ruin Newton’s image as a materialist scientist.

Question: Later, the Tanakh scholar Abraham Shalom Yehuda bought the manuscripts. He showed them to Einstein, the latter said that this treasure should not be kept at home. It turned out that Newton devoted much of his time to studying Kabbalah in Hebrew. His manuscripts are encoded. He considered the Temple as a model of the structure of the universe and concluded that all of the corporeal laws are nothing compared to the greatness of the upper world, which we are facing, but don’t even realize it.

Answer: Newton is one of the special souls that attain the upper world and see the outcome of the spiritual roots in our world, of course. We are all controlled by the upper forces and they each influence and are expressed in our world. Therefore, by attaining the upper world, Newton described all of the corporeal laws from his level of attainment.

Question: Why didn’t he describe the upper level?

Answer: He didn’t know about the system; no one had taught him. All of his attainments were his own discoveries. However, he did write about our times, about the return of the Jews to Israel and about the reconstruction of the Temple.

Question: He did write that in 1880 the Jews would begin to return to the land of their fathers and that in the 1940’s there would be a terrible holocaust as a result of which millions would die and that it would lead to the foundation of the Jewish state.

Answer: This is indeed how it all happened, the return of the Jews at the end of the 19^th century, the Holocaust, and then the foundation of the State of Israel.

Question: How seriously do you take Newton?

Answer: Newton was a Kabbalist. He was one of the special people who were really in contact with the upper world and through their attainment conveyed great corrections from the upper world into our world. We should understand that we know very little about such people, and what we do know isn’t really true and accurate. However, I think that we are nearing the time in which humanity has to ripen quickly and discover everything about the great Kabbalist Isaac Newton from the upper roots.

The sciences of our world investigate the forces that create it and operate within it. The wisdom of Kabbalah is a science that investigates the general force of the entire creation, the force that creates all of creation, including the part that is concealed from us. The general power of everything that exists that is called divine. The science of Kabbalah explores this.

In order to study the forces of our world, we use tools, devices, and various materials that exist in our world. At the same time, we study everything through our natural senses that we are accustomed to use because we exist and perceive only with them. To investigate the upper world, we must first acquire senses that reach the upper world, and only after that can we study it, just like in our world.

Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah includes two stages:

• First, our senses are corrected to become like the upper world,
• And then with their help, we study the upper world.

Adam discovered the wisdom of Kabbalah; he was the first Kabbalist. From him, the study of the higher power and the upper world began to be developed. The difference between the upper force and the upper world is that the higher power exists on its own, whereas the upper world is what a Kabbalist attains within himself as the discovery of the higher power within his characteristics.

Question: People say that only Jews are allowed to study Kabbalah. Is this true?

Answer: I have another question: Who are these “Jews?” Originally those who studied the wisdom of Kabbalah were called Jews.

People who gathered around the forefather Abraham called themselves Jews. He brought them from ancient Babylon to the land of Canaan. The nation of Israel originated from this group. “Jews (Yehudim)“ comes from the word “unity (Yehud)” – connection. That is, the original meaning of the concept “Jew” is precisely the one who is engaged in Kabbalah.

Question: What if a Turkish-Muslim studies Kabbalah?

Answer: It doesn’t matter who he is. There were many tribes and various communities in ancient Babylon. Those who joined Abraham became “Jews.”

In essence, a Jew is not a nationality like all other nations. One can be French and become a Jew. Being a Jew does not mean to belong to one’s father and mother, but rather to belong to an idea, to the aspiration to find the meaning of life, the purpose of development.

A Jew is a spiritual notion. Therefore, any person can be a Jew. A French or German who devotes himself to this approach, to one upper force (the good who does good) where there is nothing else besides this force, and to the law of love the other as yourself becomes a Jew. This is what determines his “Jewishness” (Yehudiut).

Question: Can a woman study Kabbalah? Did women Kabbalists exist in the past?

Answer: Certainly! All Jewish foremothers and prophetesses were Kabbalists. Up until the destruction of the Temple, both men and women of the nation of Israel possessed spiritual attainment. They lived simultaneously in sensation of the two worlds as one whole.

Question: It turns out that there is no difference between men and women in Kabbalah?

Answer: There is a difference. Just like in our world a woman is different from a man in her perception of reality and her behavior. However, with respect to the upper force and the goal of creation both of them have the same direction. Therefore, any person can study Kabbalah regardless of their nationality and gender.

In previous centuries there were such prophetesses as Huldah, Deborah, Miriam, and foremothers of the Jewish nation. Their spiritual levels were not less but even greater than men’s. Not without reason the Creator says to Abraham “Listen to what Sarah tells you.”

The saying “I have created the evil inclination, I have created the Torah as a spice” expresses the whole thought of creation. The goal of creation is to bring everyone to a perfect connection called love, and so love of others is the main idea and goal of the Torah.

The Creator continuously develops people’s egoism so that they will recognize and understand the need for unity. First they will have to connect in order to survive and then in order to reach a more sublime meaning.

The wisdom of Kabbalah disappeared from our world for 2,000 years in order to allow the ego to develop and so that we would have something to correct. Kabbalists predicted that since the end of the 20^th century in the year 1985, we will reach the right level of the ego needed for correction.

“Love thy friend as thyself” refers to a connection with others in which everyone mutually fills others. This means that the meaning of the word “love” is not bringing others pleasure but filling the upper desires of others. In that case love evokes the full connection between all of humanity into one system called Adam (man).

Question: Can someone develop supernatural powers through practicing the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: I am going to disappoint you. There are no supernatural abilities, not even with me. I couldn’t perform any kinds of tricks even if I really wanted to do that because the wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t provide this.

If special feelings develop in a person through his spiritual attainments, he still will not use them in any way, ever. This is because what he gets, he gets from the Creator, and he must respond only through his screen.

Question: Is it really impossible to see the future or win the lottery?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is a real lesson that doesn’t make it possible for a person to do something for his own benefit, but only for the sake of others.

Question: But does discovery of the Creator supplement the rest of the pleasures of our world?

Answer: No, it is directed only toward giving contentment to the Creator. If you rise to this level and that gives you pleasure, enjoy it.

Question: So, how does it attract and entice a person?

Answer: It is without anything. If a person has an inclination for it, then it doesn’t matter to him what he will get or not get from it. The reward of truth is the highest reward in the world.

Question: The Torah attributes stars to different astrological signs. Does the Creator manage people’s souls by the stars? What is the relationship between the soul and the stars?

Answer: There is nothing special about the stars. It is simply an allegory and that’s all. There is no power in the stars and it makes no difference whether a certain star is destroyed or remains. These are simple inanimate systems that have no effect on anything that is spiritual and upper.

Astrology first appeared a long time ago because people wanted to know where they are, how they should behave, how to measure time, and what to do.

In ancient Babylon astrologers could tell a person’s character and what will happen to him according to the stars. In those times people were much more sensitive and closer to nature and could say a lot about a person according to different signs. But this isn’t the system of the upper management. This is the system of our corporeal existence that could make life safer and more comfortable.

Today it is quite meaningless since we have lost our sensitivity to nature and there are no sages like the ones who lived in the past; they couldn’t help us anyway today. We are so negative in our thoughts and desires and so polluted by different chemicals that nothing can help us.

Comment: But people are still interested in the predictions of the Bulgarian Baba Venga and others.

Answer: This is only natural, but it isn’t the wisdom of Kabbalah and they cannot teach us anything correctly either. They can only accurately predict something in advance, but they cannot change anything.
