Everything for the Sake of the Creator

276.02Question: When a person is in a state of descent, what is the right way to ask for the help of the group to go through this? And after one overcomes everything and rises to the Creator, how can he or she pass this state to the group instead of starting to enjoy for his own sake?

Answer: He must annul himself before the group and perform with it all the actions that it desires in order to be included in it. Only by integrating with the group will one feel how he can help his friends, and continue to do this in accordance with his personal qualities.

That is, he directs all the strength that he receives to filling the desire of the group, which also includes his desire.

Question: You once gave us this exercise: do everything we do in life with the intention for the sake of the Creator. How does this habit help us? How quickly does it lead us out of the intention to receive for ourselves, or is it just deception?

Answer: It may be deception, but it still takes us to the next level because the habit becomes second nature.

Focus on the Creator

231.04The covenant of the eyes, which is caution from looking at women. And the prohibition on looking is not necessarily because it might lead to a thought. Rather, the real reason is that it extends from a very high root: This caution is because if one is not careful, he might come to look at the Shechina [Divinity] (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 67, Depart from Evil).

To look at the Shechina means that a person will want to receive all the pleasures of the world for himself, not in order to bestow, but for himself.

But if we aim for the goal, that is, to connect with the Creator, then we must always imagine Him before us and direct our gaze only to this most desirable goal for us and focus only on it.

Despite Doubts

510.01And the more he works, the suffering increases proportionally. Finally, the suffering and the labor accumulate to a certain amount where the Creator has mercy on him and gives him a taste in the servitude of the Creator, as it is written, “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high” (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 219. Devotion).

Question: What does it mean “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high”?

Answer: When a person goes against his desire, above his natural powers, and wants to continue following the instructions of the Creator at all costs, then after this struggle that he wages with himself to fulfill the desire of the upper, the Creator shows mercy to him and gives him the gift of bestowal (Lishma).

Question: At first, we have to go in compulsion and trembling. Is the quality of awe acquired through our efforts or is it also given by the Creator?

Trembling is the fear of falling off the spiritual path and moving away from the Creator instead of holding on to Him despite all doubts and problems.

Light and Kli (Vessel)

260.01Question: In Rabash’s article “What Is, “The Shechina Is a Testimony to Israel,” in the Work?” it says that there should be a demand from the lower ones that the Creator give both light and the Kli (vessel).

What is the difference? How do we demand the light and how do we demand the Kli?

Answer: It depends on the person. The Kli is the uncorrected qualities that the Creator sets before us. We must evaluate them and raise them to the Creator so that He corrects them. That is how we pass our path, gradually from an uncorrected state to a corrected one.

And light is the force of correction.

627.2Question: Why is speech and action so important? After all, the evil inclination is inside us, in our thoughts and feelings.

Answer: The main thing is not to reveal to the outside what is in your heart, in your soul. The fact is that if you guard it inside, you will gradually be able to fight it.

And if you talk about it out loud, then it gets out of your control and does not come back, you let your thoughts go into space. Moreover, by doing this, you can harm those who are nearby.

Question: Should we learn to be silent and speak only when we want to unite? Do you need to learn silence as much as possible?

Answer: Absolutely right. This is the best.

Degrees of HaVaYaH

548.03

Question: As a result of the second restriction (Tzimtzum Bet), four worlds appear: Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. Worlds are concealments. Why exactly after the second restriction do these filter worlds appear?

Answer: In order to begin to interact with the Creator, we need some degrees along which we can gradually approach Him. Therefore, the whole desire created by the Creator is divided into four parts, four degrees.

They are called the degrees of HaVaYaH (the name of the Creator). As we climb these degrees, we attain the name of the Creator and thus come to His revelation.

In principle, HaVaYaH creates these concealments, the four worlds: Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. What is meant here is not the corporeal worlds, but the spiritual ones, which are measures of the Creator’s concealment.

By revealing the connection with the Creator at a certain level, a person rises first to the world of Assiya, then to Beria, and so on, up to the world of Atzilut.

The Creator Is Ready to Help

591Question: Rabash writes that a person can work either as a majority and receive enlightenment in the form of surrounding light or as a person with the intention for the sake of heaven.

I do not understand; is it bad to receive the surrounding light? On the other hand, Rabash writes that this is not enough at all.

Answer: If we are connected between us and all the time want to be even closer in our spiritual connection in order to eventually become like the Creator, that is, a vessel for holding the Creator between us, then we become one common whole.

In order to motivate the Creator to give us the opportunity to work for Him, it is enough for us to unite.

The closer we are to each other, the more we are similar to the Creator and He will relate to us with more attention and effort.

The Creator is ready and obligated to help a person in everything. Therefore, there is nothing insurmountable in this.

Feel How the Creator Fills the Entire World

237Question: What is the difference between the light of the Creator and the greatness of the Creator? How do they relate?

Answer: It is practically the same thing and is only determined relative to a person. It depends on how much one truly wants to feel the greatness of the Creator and to sense that the Creator fills the entire world.

Comment: But the light is what is under the control of the Creator and the Kli (desire) is under the control of a person.

My Response: This needs to be sorted out. When a person experiences this feeling, he begins to understand the difference. But for now, one should only strive to imagine how the Creator fills the entire world.

Question: When after great suffering I come to the sensation of the Creator, and the Creator heals me, becomes my salvation, comfort, and rapidly fills my entire world, how can I transition from this state of escaping from suffering to revealing the Creator for the purpose of serving Him?

Answer: You must come to a state where you are ready to completely nullify yourself in order to feel the Creator. To feel how the Creator fills the entire world.
