The Body Strives for Stillness

281.01Question: In order for us to not lose the taste for spiritual work, you sometimes have to joke, then scold someone, or say something new so that people do not sleep. Why do we have such bluntness? Why do you constantly need to try to come up with something new?

Answer: Because the body (egoism) strives for constant calmness. What else can it strive for? According to its nature it only wants to be filled and unchanged. This is egoism! As soon as it does not have any feelings of emptiness, suffering, or shortcomings, then this is the state it wants to reach and stop.

Question: Students often come to this state, and they are stuck for a long time. Are they stopped by egoism or simply do not have the strength?

Answer: They do not get stuck, they move. Now they are moving much faster than before.

Naturally, a person starts from afar. When he comes to us he does not understand what, how, and for what. He can nod his head at you even though he does not understand anything. And while he begins to feel something and to understand, a couple of years pass.

This is our work! We all have to go through the same stages. We cannot jump over any of them! We can only speed up time. But it depends only on the person and the extent of his luck when he hears that he has to delve into the group.

It Is Forbidden to Reveal the Soul

962.4Question: You said that you cannot open your soul, meaning, talk about what you are feeling right now. But all the same, a person speaks from what he feels. How can one work here? Where can you hurt yourself and others and where are you still protected?

Answer: You are not hurting anyone yet. We are not talking about these degrees. But in general, it is better to be silent. Why talk about what you are going through internally?

Comment: When something happens to another person, you, in general, if you have also passed this state, you can at least analyze how he feels. It is like a picture in which you most likely see your external states.

My Response: If you want to move forward normally, then there is a technique for this. There is nothing to be clever about, no one understands anything about it anyway. Take this technique and do exactly as it says.

If you do not want to advance, then go into philosophy. Do you want to test love with physics or biology with veterinary medicine? I do not know what and how, but this is nonsense. There is no point trying to compare the incomparable. You want to use the tools of this world—psychology or various other methods—to get into a world where you cannot enter with your feet.

But you do not have the qualities of that world to do this, and you strive without changing yourself and your qualities to get in there: “Maybe I will find something there, I will dig it out and I will have some kind of hocus-pocus in this world, I can manipulate something.” It will not work! Otherwise, all special services would already be “grazing” in Kabbalah.

New Life 113 – Working In Sales, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Today’s consumer is willing to pay for an uplifting attitude and emotional connection. A good salesperson sells a positive mood. An integral business buys the public’s trust through full transparency and coordination with other organizations. Growth is measured according to an improved attitude toward clients as well as increased interaction and mutual connection.

“Is there a difference in the sensation of an anti-Semite from the Middle Ages and today?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is there a difference in the sensation of an anti-Semite from the Middle Ages and today?

Yes, there is. In the Middle Ages, people felt a much deeper dependence on the Jews than people today.

Today, we have medicine, chemistry, technology and other means by which we can use nature to our benefit. Humanity has accumulated much more knowledge, and many more people today engage in fields that Jews more typically occupied in the past.

However, the fact that Jews no longer uniquely hold certain positions and engagements in society does not lessen antisemitism in our times. On the contrary, antisemitism is rising and taking on a new evolutionary form.

The hatred of Jews in our era is not due to Jews’ disproportionate success in fields such as science, technology and medicine. It is rather due to a certain kind of force that the Jews possess: a hidden force that is rooted in what made Jews a united people in their establishment, a force capable of uniting humanity above all differences and divisions.

Before all the rationalizations of Jew hatred in our world today, there is a deeper feeling of hatred toward the Jews that antisemites themselves often cannot understand at its core: that as the Jewish people once united and became a conduit for the positive force of connection dwelling in nature to spread and cover human society, likewise today, the more people feel increasing troubles and dissatisfaction in their lives, the more they feel that Jews are somehow behind their problems.

Antisemitism today thus becomes sharper, subtler, more threatening and more global. If the Jewish people unite above their differences like they did when they first became the people of Israel, they become a conduit for the positive force dwelling in nature to spread and heal the world of its problems.

Therefore, antisemitism can be uprooted if we Jews start functioning according to what made us Jews to begin with: to start uniting above our differences, and by doing so, unclog a certain inner pipeline to human consciousness—to let the positive force of nature enter the world, and to let unity cover the growing differences and divisions in human society.

Spiritual and Physical Closeness

627.2Question: Children are like the next degree, the resulting derivatives. How can it be that a person does not have the data that parents received—you, for example?

Answer: How can he receive this? What does matter have to do with it? It does not exist at all. This is the most minimal layer that is revealed to us. All our other levels are much higher. Our world is the lowest. All Reshimot come from the worlds of Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, and Atzilut. So, nothing like that can even be here.

Question: But does your corporeal child exist at the spiritual level?

Answer: He has a Reshimo, nothing more! If he yearns, he will enter this system. I cannot really help him here even if he is my favorite child.

I will help another physically, a complete stranger, because he has a great desire to come closer to the Creator, to reveal the upper world. I will naturally help him based on my new data. That is, spiritual closeness is not physical closeness.

How to See a New World

929Those righteous ones, the authors of The Zohar, and especially Rabbi Shimon, their thoughts and words were in actual deeds, for according to the quality of the innovations in the Torah that they discovered, the upper degrees were promptly set up and arranged after them in actual fact. That is, the righteous build worlds with their innovations in the Torah (Zohar for All, Beresheet – 1, Article “The Sling-Stone,” Item 200).

Question: Are these worlds internal or external?

Answer: Everything is inside a person. There is nothing outside of us. Everything that seems to us as existing outside of us: the world, stars, people, and the Earth is the way we feel what is happening within us. There is nothing outside. All our perception of reality, as if I take something, hold it in my hands, and see it; all this appears only inside me.

Therefore, to the extent that I change and improve my qualities, I see a different world, a new world. But everything is inside a person. A person is a small world and he includes everything.

We Consider Ourselves to be God

294.2Question: What does a dog think about man? “He feeds me, takes care of me, walks me. He must be God.” What does a cat think about a person? “He feeds me, takes care of me. I guess I am God.”

What do we humans think about the Creator? He feeds us, He takes care of us. What do we think about Him?

Answer: That we are God.

Question: Why? Why can’t I say: “Thank You! You take care of me. You are God.”

Answer: Because by doing so, I lose my independence.

Question: Do I want this freedom, do I need independence?

Answer: Yes, of course. This is how we are created.

Question: So, He as if cut us off from Himself?

Answer: Actually, He concealed Himself so I would re-establish the right relationship with Him myself.

Question: Is this possible only if I do not see Him?

Answer: Yes. If I cannot find Him, but keep looking for Him, I gradually realize that He is, in fact, the center of my existence.

Question: At what point do I start looking for Him? At what point am I dissatisfied with myself, my efforts, and my capabilities?

Answer: When you become utterly disillusioned with your search: for yourself, life, the purpose of life, the Creator, and so on, then you start getting closer to finding Him.

Question: Do I have to reach disillusionment?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: But I have to invest in the search.

My Response: Absolutely, everything you have got.

Question: Is it about doing everything myself; should my efforts be such?

Answer: Yes. And after you realize that you cannot do anything yourself, you begin to wonder where is this connection with the Creator found?

Question: You said: “I cannot do anything.” Is there really nothing I can do?

Answer: Nothing. Until one puts up his hands and completely entrusts himself to the upper force, nothing will work.

Question: Today we see that wars and crises are nearing, there will be more and more of them, environmental disasters, and so on. Will this lead us to the point of realizing that we cannot do anything?

Answer: Good question. What we see today, I doubt will lead to the realization. Humanity still has very little awareness of its situation, its dependence. It thinks it can still do something.

Question: So I have to pull this “rug” out from under me to see I can’t do anything?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And this is the main theme: “We cannot do anything without You?”

Answer: We cannot do anything without the Creator.

232.06Question: Is there always a confrontation of forces in the spiritual work?

Answer: No, it only seems that way to us so that we use these forces correctly. They come from the same source, but they do not agree yet within us, so their confrontation occurs only within us.

We need to treat them exactly the same way and correctly, rationally, and effectively use both the force of reception and the force of bestowal. There can be no love without hate.
