Go Beyond The Boundaries Of Egoism

423.02Question: Why does a person feel someone other than himself?

Answer: In order to exit oneself.

If I did not feel myself, then I would not feel anyone outside of me. That is, the sensations of oneself and outside oneself are interconnected. This is called attainment of the border.

In our existence, attainment of the border is to comprehend the limits of our egoism. It is not easy to determine physically where I am relative to others, not mentally or emotionally, but how I relate to others and myself. When there is no difference between the attitude toward myself and toward others, it means that I exited myself.

Question: Who and how determines who is closer to the person and who is further? Why, in general, is there this gradation of separation of closer and more distant to a person?

Answer: Now this happens with regard to human egoism. When a person begins to try to master the altruistic space, he places himself and people according to other signs—signs of bestowal, the opposite of egoism.

To See Revelation Of The Creator In Everything

234Question: If the Creator is concealed from a person, does it mean that he cannot love Him until he reveals Him? What feelings does a person experience before the Creator is revealed?

Answer: Before the Creator is revealed to a person, he does not feel Him, does not understand what is what. Maybe philosophical or religious trends somewhat explain something, but this does not mean anything. Man alone is absolutely locked from the Creator.

Therefore, we must make sure that the Creator is not something non-existent for us. On the contrary, we need to see His manifestation in everything we feel.

For example, I am sitting and talking to you right now. That is, I feel with all my senses where I am. I must feel the Creator in the same way. Then I will be able to love Him.

Beyond The Usual Imagination

276.02Question: We usually picture a miracle as an event that can be explained by the mystical intervention of the upper force. How would you define a miracle?

Answer: A miracle is something that we can observe but cannot explain. And if we cannot see it, then it does not exist. Therefore, observation is the first condition.

The second condition is the inability to explain some phenomenon with our usual earthly ideas, what we have in our hands, which is based on science and experience.

Question: It is generally accepted that a miracle is something that can only happen to religious people who are inclined to see a divine manifestation in everything. However, new research suggests that miracles are more likely to happen to people whose existence is threatened.

Who do you think miracles happen to most often?

Answer: First you need to clearly understand what miracles are. If we take a little child or a common person and show them something that does not fit their perception of nature, then they will of course perceive it as something unusual, miraculous, beyond their usual imagination.

Many things that we cannot explain happen around us. Do I know exactly what I am expecting? No. But if it suddenly happens the next minute, I can say that it is a miracle.

There is no precise definition of a miracle. For me it is either a phenomenon of unknown origin, or an unexpected event, or it is improbable in terms of my perception, or it is improbable from the point of view of modern science, but it may become a common occurrence tomorrow.

That is, all this is subjective with respect to a person at the present moment of time.

“What Is Thought?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is thought?

Thought is the greatest force in nature. It operates above time and space.

Thought is the highest force of human nature. In kabbalistic texts, it is written that “all is clarified in thought.”

Thoughts come from the thought of creation, where we are all omnipresent, and thought is all there is in nature.

We also exist in thought. We feel that we have senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, and that we live in a universe with galaxies, stars, planets, and so on.

However, it is all thought.

There is nothing other than thought. There is no matter, only thought. Likewise, all we can control is our thoughts, and nothing else. For instance, the still, vegetative and animate levels of nature are beyond our control.

What does it mean that we can change our thoughts? It means that we can change our attitudes toward nature through other people, through everything that stimulates us. By doing so, we reach what in the wisdom of Kabbalah is called “correction,” i.e. a state of balance with nature that comes from changing the direction of our thoughts—from self-benefit to benefiting others and nature.

New Life After The Flood

527.03As soon as I discover that I have disconnected from the Creator, from bestowal, from the group, from everything that relates to spirituality, I need to divide this state into two parts: the state of the body and the state of the soul.

All corporeal principles that exist in our world belong to the body: health, mood, material environment, and family. And on the other hand, I have to look at how all this creates interference and affects my connection with the ten and with the Creator.

This is how we connect all affecting factors to one source and establish that everything comes from the Creator. The flood comes from Him, both the external and the internal flood. If I understand that everything comes from the Creator, then all I have to do is decide: Do I also belong to the Creator or not?

Only one checking point does not belong to the Creator, the point in the heart. When the Creator created the desire to receive, He disconnected it from Himself, and that is why we feel separated from Him.

I must try to attribute my mind and heart to the Creator too. Then I will find out that I do not have any thoughts and feelings of my own and that it is the Creator who causes all these feelings in me so that will I rise above them to Him as their source.

My feelings and thoughts throw me into completely opposite and confusing states, but I perceive them as the flood arranged by the Creator. He had to send me the flood to purify my desires, the same as the earth washed by a torrential stream is cleaned of litter and can give birth to new life.

And although this purification is carried out by the waters of the flood, that is, not only by the property of Bina but by Bina together with Malchut, this is how they are united, and this leads to correction. We can now use this force and advance. This is the beginning of creation; that is, there was an opportunity within a person to rise above his egoistic desire and attribute everything that happens to the upper force, to Bina, to bestowal.

A person understands that the external saboteur, corporeal disturbances, and internal spiritual disturbances that do not allow him to rise to the level of Bina, the level of faith, all come from the Creator. If he can attribute both saboteurs, both great obstacles only to the Creator, then he is freed from foreign thoughts at the degree of Malchut and at the degree of Bina, and he attains faith above reason.

This means that I do not take into account these two saboteurs—corporeal and spiritual—but stick only to bestowal, to the Creator. This is the first point in the force of faith, in the force of Bina above the force of Malchut.

Therefore, it is necessary to separate these two levels, corporeal and spiritual disturbances. Corporeal disturbances manifest themselves in the form of fatigue, loss of strength, illness, problems in the family, at work, etc. And within all these disturbances we need to uncover the spiritual disturbance: that I do not want connection, I do not have the strength, the mood, and I cannot fight my laziness. This is the second, more internal saboteur against which we mainly need to fight.

Both saboteurs lead us to reveal their cause, the Creator, because it was He who sent the flood to the earth. And due to this, we come to the degree of faith above reason. I establish that both saboteurs come from the upper force, I hold on to my friends and with them to the Creator.

This is how we are saved from the flood! Our connection with the Creator brings us to dry land, we leave the ark and begin to settle on earth. In that desire to receive, which can already reach the degree of Bina, we lay our new settlement; faith is higher than reason.

Shift All Problems To The Spiritual Realm

962.6If I do not feel resistance to spirituality, then I am not in spirituality. It is the same as when I get into a car, I must start the engine and burn fuel, energy, in order to move.

The same is true in spirituality; I cannot just lie there and wait to be lifted up to final correction (Gmar Tikkun) along with my bed.

It doesn’t happen that way. Correction occurs only through our efforts, and efforts are measured by the feeling of suffering, the force of resistance. So, we are talking about two destroyers, corporeal obstacles and spiritual obstacles, that interfere with our progress.

Corporeal obstacles are problems of this world: in the family, at work, with health. And spiritual obstacles are hidden inside them. We cannot dig deeply into obstacles, but we must clarify both of them in order to see how much they direct us toward the goal.

And if I focus more precisely on the goal internally, then I will see how obstacles begin to change because they come from the Creator. And if before I felt corporeal obstacles and it seemed that I could not do anything about them, now, due to my attitude to the goal, I can eliminate them. Problems in the family, with children, and at work will disappear; everything will turn into spiritual problems.

New Life 1328 – Rank Discrepancy In Organizations

New Life 1328 – Rank Discrepancy In Organizations
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

How can organizations ensure that employees at every level feel important and appreciated? While hierarchy is necessary, it can lead to comparison, competition, and separation between higher, middle, and lower workers. These obstacles can be overcome if everyone is included in working together toward a common goal.

Management should hold regular talks to emphasize that mutual benefit can be achieved only through the efforts and participation of every worker and all will prosper through working together. All are equal participants toward accomplishing the goal, and even simple work is essential. We are all mutually dependent, each one does their part for the good of the whole, and recognizes the value of each one’s unique contribution. Everyone is responsible for creating an environment where everyone is valued, where each one is greeted as a friend by all the others.

Upon entering the gate of the workplace, each one should peel off all their shells and enter with a warm heart and uplifted spirits for having been granted the opportunity to work together in common purpose.

“And You Shall Love The Lord”

235Question: Baal HaSulam wrote an article “Love for the Creator and Love for the Created Beings,” which describes various spiritual states. What is love for the Creator? Can this be called a state?

Answer: Anything a person experiences is called his state.

To love the Creator means to wish Him the very best with all your strength, as it is written: “And you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.”

The Creator is the source of life that holds the entire creation within Himself. In principle, the universe consists of only two parts: the Creator and everything created by Him, called creation. And we must bring the entire creation to a state of complete merging with the Creator.

Loving Him means loving Him as the source of life, reaching a state where everything that you feel, you receive through your feeling of love for Him.
