For the Sake of Bestowing to the Creator

259.01However, in between, before one can prevail and justify His guidance, the Shechina [Divinity] is in the dust. This means that the work by way of faith, called the Shechina, is in exile, canceled in the dust. And he said about that, “Neither they nor their reward.” This means that he cannot stand the period in between. And this is the meaning of his reply to him, “I am crying for this and for that” (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 129, The Shechina in the Dust).

Question: It is written that he cannot stand the period in between, and is crying for this and for that. What does it mean?

Answer: A person cannot feel a state that feels like distancing from the Creator. Since he does not agree with this, he corrects these states, and gradually they are filled with light.

Question: What are the bestowing Kelim of the ten?

Answer: This is a state when a ten gathers together and wants to do something for the sake of bestowing to the Creator. Then these Kelim (vessels), which they try to connect together in order to bestow to the Creator, are filled with the Shechina.

Question: I often think about what you would say when I perform an action. Is this true or do you still need to feel your heart more?

Step toward Each Other

528.04Question: I would like to find out the spiritual action of the “thief and robber.” The ten has a diary in which everyone should take notes. Some friends keep records and some do not. Is there a concept of “thief and robber” in this action?

Answer: Yes, if you have agreed to keep a group diary every day and disclose your inner goals, then someone who ignores this cannot be considered a member of the ten. That is very important.

We are already approaching the point where we can make records like this. You do not have to show them to anyone except your friends from the ten. They are intended for internal use, and only need to record what is new that has opened up to your hearts.

That will help you better understand yourself, get closer to your friends, and advance quickly. After all, we take a step forward only after our step toward each other.

Question: How do I write so as not to offend a friend?

Answer: There can be no hard feelings here. You have to be very honest with each other. If you are not yet ready to write openly, do not take it up or each write for yourself. After a few weeks, you may want to keep records in a general diary. But everything needs to be stated very clearly and concisely.

528.03Question: What state should we strive for so that the flame itself flares up in the heart?

Answer: We must strive to ensure that all our little sparks gather into one big flame.

Question: What if instead of hating the desire to receive hatred for the Creator manifests itself: “You did all this. You lowered me into this deep hole”?

Answer: It does not matter. The main thing is that we must find out the truth. If our internal properties are such that we begin to hate the Creator, then we fix this, and from this point, we begin to develop further.

Question: What drives the efforts in the ten?

Answer: Only the joint efforts of the ten are this drive.

Question: It is said that working in coercion is rewarded with faith. What can we force our friends to do to help them achieve faith?

Answer: Commit yourself to actions of bestowal, show their example and consequences so your friends learn as a result of your actions. That is called “Let man help his neighbor.”

Free Our Thoughts for a Single Concern

530Question: How can we free our hearts from other desires in practice in the ten before studying the Torah?

Answer: Throw all your problems and worries out of your heart, except for one: you want to connect with your friends and the Creator into one whole. That is all.

Just as little children in kindergarten are attached to their teacher, you want to be in close contact with your friends and the Creator.

Deceive the Will to Receive

275Question: My desire for Lishma is a tiny fraction compared to the desire for pleasures on which I depend. What can convince me?

Answer: Only the connection with the ten that yearns for mutual connection between them can convince you.

In this way you deceive your will to receive because you feel that your egoism, your desires for pleasure, are standing in front of you. But you are offered to connect with the friends, rise with their help, and overcome this obstacle.

As far as you can become as one man with one heart, that will be your good luck.

From Absolute Darkness

236.01Question: Recognition of evil disarms a person, and he understands that evil is a complete lack of love. Since there is no light of love, there is no strength to do anything because you are in absolute darkness.

What should one do in this state?

Answer: You should ask, and ask, and nothing else. There is no such thing that there is no strength at all. It means that you have no connection with the group. If you have a good connection with your ten, there is strength for any revelation.

You should strengthen your connection with the group and turn to the Creator from there. When a person asks only for himself, the Creator does not answer him. It is necessary to ask from the point of connection in the group. Although it seems difficult to us, we must do just that.

Two Qualities In One Person

549.01Question: What is the difference between an absolute righteous and an absolute wicked?

Answer: As a rule, both states are in the same person. A person reveals oneself in this way relative to the Creator, either as an absolute righteous or an absolute wicked, because these states cannot be manifested simultaneously.

Question: Should I treat my friends in the ten as absolutely righteous, and if so, how will this help to reveal to them that they are wicked?

Answer: It does not matter who they think they are or who you think they are. In any case, you should think that they are absolutely righteous, and then you will be able to come closer to them and through them to the Creator.

The Group’s Common Diary

530Question: When we come to the awareness of evil, how can we use it correctly? After all, we have no other fuel to achieve bestowal.

Answer: First, we gather in the ten. Second, we agree to unite, and we write down in the group’s common diary everything that opens up between us and interferes with our unification.

All the properties that prevent us from being in the right connection are called yetser ra (evil inclination), bad qualities that are opposite to the properties of the Creator. We must get rid of them.

So write everything down in a group journal and then check once a week whether you were able to get rid of something or not. This will lead you to a correct understanding of who you are.

In addition, write down your impressions of connecting with friends: what pushes you away from them or brings you closer. It is very important! There is no need to hide anything.

Question: Wouldn’t it put them off if they read how negatively I feel about them?

Answer: No, it won’t put them off; to the contrary, they will see that you are an honest person, that they can deal with you because you see your shortcomings and write them down so as not to forget them and to analyze them when you are in a different mood or a different state.

The point is that when you no longer focus on negative thoughts, you begin to figure out past states and try to work with them.

And at the end of the week, you can get together, read your common diary, and talk with each other. This will make you more open to each other and understand each other more.

Do not be shy. In a group you should be like one person with one heart. You cannot imagine how much as a result of this work a space filled with the Creator will open to you.
