Updating Sensations

216.01Question: You say that you feel a certain, even physical need to study Kabbalah every day. Is there a kind of physical dependence and craving for receiving material daily?

Answer: Of course there is. I am sure that any scientist in any field feels this. When a person is intensively engaged in mental work, analysis, synthesis of data, and turning huge bits of information inside himself, then he naturally suffers without it.

If I am going on vacation, then I set myself up in advance for the fact that I am taking this week off. I am like an animal just walking, walking, walking. For me, a vacation is walking.

But I take a computer and some texts with me and I still work. I contact students, receive information, forward it, and write in my blog. I just need to physically shake myself up.

I sit in my office. And after a week’s rest, I have some other approach, some update.

The Desire to Share Wisdom

232.01Comment: In H.G. Wells’ novel The Undying Fire, written in 1919, there is a dialogue with the Creator, with God. The writer seems to have read Baal HaSulam. They seem the same: “The world is at an impasse. Crisis.”

My Response: Science fiction writers are special people, and they anticipate a lot of things. Look how much is written in the novels of Jules Verne and other science fiction writers about future discoveries and inventions long before they appear: submarines, helicopters, etc. It is just that egoism begins to think this way and thus awakens to new fulfillments.

One should not think that there is some kind of Kabbalistic conspiracy here, that Kabbalists direct some kind of a ray of light on the world from above, and our world therefore begins to spin faster and discoveries occur. They themselves are consequences of the egoistic development of the world.

The law of nature is the law of nature. There is no point in appointing a person, even if he is a Kabbalist, as the arbiter of destinies or the world.

The only thing is that a Kabbalist comprehends nature, knows how to use it correctly, and wants to teach others about it. That is all! There is nothing special about it! He is not a superman. Of course, he has super knowledge, but he can apply it only in the presentation of the method. If others want to use it, then something will work out; but if they do not want to, it will not.

For example, Baal HaSulam tried to pass the method on to the world, but no one wanted to accept it.

That is why the Second World War broke out with all its consequences, including the extermination of six million Jews and so on. He could not prevent anything.

A Kabbalist is like a wise person who sees everything and tries to share his wisdom, but no one is interested in it.

What Influences the Opinion of a Kabbalist?

051Question: What influences your opinion at certain periods of time? Students? Events? What makes you start saying certain things?

Answer: My opinion about the world, about its governance, about the system of governance does not change.

When this entire huge system, the upper world, and then our world change in their interaction, then I can also say something new and perhaps even relevant about our world and its interaction with the upper world.

In principle, this system is absolutely clearly built for me. I see it, I feel it, I understand it. If there are any changes in it, then we can talk about them.

If there were no serious changes in our world under the influence of the upper world, if today the corporeal world was not awakened from above to its balance with the spiritual world (because it is precisely the lack of balance that we experience as a general, global, integral crisis), then I would not talk about anything. I would study the wisdom of Kabbalah as a theory, without any connection with our world, which will be embodied in our world who knows when.

I studied it this way in the 80s and 90s and did not believe at all that I could live to see all this being clearly embodied. And suddenly, it started.

Kabbalah appeared in an explicit form. I see how all this is spinning in the world in accordance with the upper governance. And I see it clearly!

The World through the Eyes of a Kabbalist

264.01Question: Do you see the same picture of the world that I see?

Answer: No. I see the world in a completely different way—completely interconnected. In this rigid structure, there is a clear connection between me, you, and everyone else, like tubes that connect us together into one single system. Like balls and tubes between them, this is how I see the world.

In the meantime, each of us an egoist, closes himself from others. Thus, the system cannot do anything; there is no circulation in it. The circulatory, nervous, and lymphatic systems stop; life in the body stops.

Before, we could do whatever we wanted. Nature itself supported us from within because we existed in the development of our egoism. Now, we have reached the peak of development, we have become isolated among ourselves, and that is it. Now if you do not want to be properly connected with others, you will not be able to exist.

This is how I see the system, and very realistically. I see in it everything that humanity does and how anti-systemic it is.

Question: It turns out that you suffer the most from this?

Answer: On one hand, yes. On the other hand, I see that humanity will come to this anyway, even through great suffering. In what way, good or evil, I do not know, but it will come.

Therefore, if I have at least some opportunity to show something, to give some source without any connection with me, I do it.

The Mind Is a Servant of Desires

256Question: You say that intelligence comes from actions. How important are actions?

Answer: How can you do without actions? On the basis of what would you gain intelligence?

I keep performing actions like a child who does not understand anything. After all, you cannot jump to the mind right away.

There is a desire called “heart.” And there is a brain, a mind that develops only to the extent of desires in order to serve, fulfill, and acquire them. It coordinates the movements and directs me so I fulfill myself. This is our egoism that acts in this way.

That is, when I want to fulfill any of my desires (food, sex, family, power, fame, knowledge, and so on), then the mind turns on. But if there are no desires, then the mind does not turn on; it is as if it does not exist.

It is only a servant of desires. Therefore, the more a person is beaten, the smarter he becomes because he is looking for a solution of how to make sure he is not beaten.

Harmful Pity

549.02Question: You say that we should not feel sorry for a person when he receives blows; otherwise, he will not overcome them. How can we find the line between feeling sorry for him and pulling him out of the descent?

Answer: You can pull a person out of a descent, but very carefully so as not to harm him. You understand that the descents are given to him so he can rise from them, begin to feel new states, and master his next one. If this does not happen to him, then it is a pity.

In no case should you help him. You should help him only so that the process he is going through really happens correctly, that is, to bring him closer to friends and contact with others, to give him the opportunity to understand the meaning of what is happening so that he treats his descent correctly, realizing that a descent is not a descent, but the acquisition of a new egoism above which he must now rise.

Comment: When people use this method, it seems that in principle, they do not feel what they are doing.

My Response: We all are in different states. There are people who are beginners, and there are still those who do not understand. There is nothing you can do.

A Sign of the Correct Society

528.02Question: When a person feels suffering, discomfort, and pressure on himself, how can he change it?

Answer: Only if he joins the right society; there is no other way out. Therefore, education should take place under the influence of the surrounding society.

Question: And if he is already in such a society?

Answer: If he is already in the right society, then it cannot be that he suffers. So, he is not in the society. Physically, maybe yes, but internally no.

If I am among other people, but they do not feel close or dear to me and I do not feel like I want to be together and to connect with them, then this is not called my society.

Coming Closer and Uniting

624.04Question: Suppose you have an opponent who has certain qualities that you do not like. But when he becomes your ally, then, on the contrary, you start to appreciate his qualities. Is this acquiring the desires of others?

Answer: Of course. If you turn any person into someone close to you, then everything he has becomes your acquisition.

In spirituality nothing can be destroyed; things can only come closer and unite. You will see that even qualities that you initially thought were bad that when you approached someone with them, you wanted them not to have such qualities, but suddenly they become positive in your eyes and nothing needs to be changed.

There is no quality that is good or bad in itself. Everything depends on how it is used.

Question: How should we nevertheless accept the bad qualities?

Answer: Do not pay attention to them. You simply have to say, “I see everything incorrectly because of my egoism. After I unite with this person, I will see how to use all of his qualities correctly and how we can complement one another.”

Question: How does unity happen?

Answer: When you quarrel with your wife or girlfriend, then everything she has inside, you pull out as something negative. But when your relationship with her is good, then everything she has inside is loved and positive. Is this not clear?

The World Is at the Red Line

293It is through the shattering and its correction that we acquire the properties and mind of the Creator. Therefore, it is clear that the shattering must be revealed; otherwise, we will not be able to connect above it and reveal the Creator. But why is shattering manifested in such extreme forms nowadays?

The fact is that all the shattering has already happened, but it is being revealed only today because we are already able to correct it. Terrible crimes and great suffering are being revealed on a global scale. Apparently, this is not the limit for the meanness of the evil inclination, which will continue to show itself to us in a much more terrible form.

The prophets warned about the problems that could be before the very end of correction if humanity does not follow the path of light. But we cannot say that we do nothing for correction, we do a lot and influence the world with our work.

We are doing everything possible, and we are not yet capable of more. Of course, we do not calm down and do not give up, but nevertheless, this is not enough for the height of the final correction. It has not yet been revealed in the world.

If everyone connects with their ten and through it with the upper force, they will be able to attract from its positive forces for the world. Nothing more is required of us.

We should not accept that the egoistic inclination rules the world. After all, it opposes the Creator. We have reached such a red line of the triumph of egoism beyond which it is simply unacceptable to go. Death is better than such a life, and therefore we are ready to do everything for the sake of correction.

Practical Kabbalah: Ascent and Connection

528.03Comment: You said that Rabbi Shimon and his disciples, who wrote The Book of Zohar, were together by force.

My Response: When the students of Rashbi wrote The Book of Zohar, they felt hatred growing between them and built a bridge of love over it.

As it is said: “Love will cover all crimes.” Because egoism is not destroyed but overcome. The more the ego grows, the higher a person rises above it. This is called “Climbing Mount Sinai” (“Sina”—from the word “hate”).

You are rising precisely because of this hatred, which is symbolized by the Tower of Babel. The Babylonians built it higher and higher wanting to raise their egoism above the sky.

Question: If students are in this state, is it good?

Answer: It is good when hatred is revealed, which can be used as love. We cover mutual hatred with a screen, we build a spiritual vessel with huge egoistic desires inside and a screen above them.

Question: How is the screen built?

Answer: Due to the similarity between us, the screen is the right connection between people. This is practical Kabbalah.
