Above Place and Time

137The Zohar speaks nothing of corporeal incidents, but of the upper worlds, where there is no sequence of times as it is in corporeality. Spiritual time is elucidated by change of forms and degrees that are above time and place (Zohar for All, “VaYetze,” Item 139).

Question: Kabbalah speaks of states that are above time, space, and motion. Can you explain what it is? What kind of change in forms and degrees are we talking about?

Answer: There is nothing permanent or temporary in the universe. We introduce all this with our sensations, our attitude to what is happening. Only the Creator, the upper force, is absolute.

If we change ourselves relative to Him, then we change time, space, movement, and the world in which we exist. We can only speak about this in relation to the Creator.

Question: Can time end?

Answer: If time by itself does not exist, then how can it end? It exists only in our sensations.

Without Creation, There Is No Creator

712.03Question: You say that the whole development of the world unfolds in our egoistic desire. But if there is no time in spirituality, how did it happen here? In some short timeframe?

Answer: There is no time in spirituality. Development does not occur in parallel in two worlds: the spiritual and ours.

There is nothing at all in the spiritual world, not even the spiritual world itself. There is what you perceive. If perception occurs in egoistic desires, then you feel our world, and if in altruistic desires, for bestowal and love, the upper world.

There is neither our world nor the spiritual world at all. The upper world exists only relative to the perceiver if he perceives his similarity to the upper force, the upper light.

There is no Creator without creation. There is no time, there is no life if there is no one who would feel it as existing.

If the world is something that manifests itself in our sensations, then it exists only relative to us. It has no form outside of us.

We do not know the source of this force. The light descends on me. I can identify this source only to the extent that I am like the light. Then I can say that the source probably has the same quality.

It is impossible to understand. For that, you need to change yourself.

All the States Are Within Us

761.2Question: It is interesting that nothing happens in the present. At least for us. Everything we see, hear, feel, and think is a product of the past.

Since it takes time for the light to reach us, everything we see is in the past. Let us say it takes light eight minutes to get from the Sun to the Earth, so it turns out that we live in a picture where nothing is happening in the present, but everything has happened already. Do you agree with this statement?

Answer: Of course, it is a physical law of many minutes a ray of light travels from the Sun to the Earth.

Question: It is said that the light from the nearest star travels for four years to reach us. So what we see has actually already happened. If we talk about spiritual states, then all states are also predetermined and are revealed only in relation to us?

Answer: There is no speed in the spiritual world. Therefore, all situations and events that were, are, and will be, occur within us. All of them already exist, they are only revealed in relation to a person.

Question: For example, some kind of war, which should take place in a year, already exists in the making?

Answer: It exists and can happen. But whether it will happen depends also on our actions.

Why Does Time Run Faster with Age?

760.1Question: Why does time run faster with age? How does one explain this?

Answer: This is how it works. After all, it is all subjective and happens only relative to our feelings.

If we compare the life of a modern person, which lasts 70 to 80 years and a person who lived in the Middle Ages for only 30 to 35 years, then those 30 years would seem longer than 80 years for us because we have more opportunities to fill this time.

Time or Movement?

760.2Comment: According to Kabbalah, time is the distance between cause and effect. The cause is man’s desire to enjoy. Without it, I do not perform any action. The effect is a direct filling, that is, reception.

After I perform some action and wait until I receive pleasure, a phenomenon called time appears. If my action brought me momentary pleasure, then there would be no time.

Even in our world there are such states. For example, in childhood when a child is playing soccer, time does not exist for him because at that moment he is enjoying it. If I go to work, earn some money, and wait until I get it and enjoy myself as a result, then time stretches.

My Response: Yes. Time is a purely psychological concept, and it does not exist as such.

The fact that we see all kinds of movement around us in nature and measure time by it has nothing to do with time. It has to do with movement. Movement or time are things that are not connected with each other. This is a special merit of Einstein that he demonstrated this to everyone.

Kabbalah About Time

294.1Question: Einstein proved that time depends on the speed of the observer. According to the scientist’s theory, time slows down for things that are in motion relative to other objects. What does Kabbalah say about the relativity of time?

Answer: Kabbalah does not speak about time at all. It says that time should be measured by our actions. The flow of our thoughts and actions, meaning the change of states, is time.

And states can be very fast or slow, whichever you like. We attribute our own subjective feelings to them and call it time.

Is It Possible to Create a Time Machine?

951Question: Why have we not been able to create a time machine and move into the future so far? And no one got to us from there either, by the way. Could this mean that we have no future at all? How can we understand this?

Answer: I think that time does not exist, and all this is our purely subjective feelings. We must understand that regarding these feelings we have freedom of choice. It is up to us to choose the system of coordinates.

Question: Since you claim that time does not exist, does that mean that humanity cannot create a time machine?

Answer: It depends on which one. If you fly at a speed close to the speed of light, then, of course, you will change your attitude toward those who are not at this speed.

Question: Will it ever be possible to actually put your protein body into a time machine and fly into the period of dinosaurs or forward into the future?

Answer: No, because it has nothing to do with you. How would you move to a state in which you were playing with dinosaurs?

Comment: Suppose, some electrodes were connected to me.

My Response: But this can be done at any time, in any state.

In principle, the past exists in the same way as our current state, and we just need to move into it. And what does our current state mean? This is how we imagine it. That is, you want to say that you wish to imagine yourself in a completely different dimension.

Question: No, I just want to get into some kind of apparatus and fly away to 20 or 100 years ago, like they show in movies. Why is it not possible?

Answer: It cannot be, because it cannot be. 😀

Comment: So, until we create such a machine, this probably cannot happen.

My Response: Not that it has not been created, it cannot be created. You can travel anywhere in time if you switch your brain.

The Real History of the World

437The history of the world can be viewed either as earthly or as one that unfolds in our growing egoistic desire.

I see it in front of me supposedly on a deep, three-dimensional spherical screen called this world. Inside it and around me, I am watch the cinema, which is live, and I participate in it. But in fact, it is inside me, in my desire.

Our whole world is my desires, my projection, I just see it from the outside and not inside myself. It does not matter if it is outside or inside, but all this is me.

However, the fallacy of my perception must be put aside because I divide the entire universe into myself and outside myself because this is how my egoism perceives this picture so far. And when I remove my ego, I will find that all this is only my “I,” and I will feel everything inside myself and not outside of myself.

We are talking about egoism, which developed from the Big Bang to inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature.

Human nature manifested itself, supposedly, 50,000 BCE, and up to 5,000 BCE, a primitive communal society developed, in which everyone was equal and everyone had the same possessions.

First, desires that worked on an inanimate level developed, and in the 5th century CE, desires for wealth appeared. This period was marked with a very rapid development of humanity, the appearance of the first technologies, and so on.

From the 5th century BCE to the 15th century CE, until the end of the Middle Ages, there had been a period of striving for power. And along with the Renaissance, great discoveries, printing, and other achievements, the period of development of sciences, the era of enlightenment began, which lasted until the end of the 20th century.

The current 21st century and beyond is already a completely new period that goes beyond the limits of nature to a higher level—the level of similarity to the Creator. However, we cannot handle it. For the first time in our history, we find ourselves completely ignorant of what is happening to us.

There are many different opinions and theories. We realize that none of them tell us anything. But by the development of nature, we can guess that it requires from us integrity, unity, and realization of the biblical principle “love your neighbor.”

Subjective Perception of Time

928Question: Time is usually represented as a river flowing in one direction. Some argue that time is like rain that consists of individual drops. And then our whole life looks like a set of individual frames, like a movie. How do you imagine time?

Answer: I do not imagine time; I imagine actions. For people who measure themselves by the actions they perform, time flows in a completely different way, on a different scale than for others.

Comment: If I understand correctly, time flows in the material world regardless of whether our states change or not, i.e., regardless of us.

My Response: Relative to whom does time change? Relative to me. Does my neighbor live in the same time as me or not? Or does he have a completely different scale? Therefore, it is all subjective.

We live by a mechanical clock by which we measure ourselves. But how this hour passes for him and for me, I do not know.

Question: If a Kabbalist himself consciously changes his states—hastens them, slows them down—then does he control time?

Answer: He controls time according to his connection with the Creator or his distancing from Him.

How Can We Soar into the Future?

537Question: Maybe we cannot create a time machine because our protein world is illusory and exists only in our imagination?

Answer: It exists in you in such a way that you are now sitting in front of the camera and talking to me. And there are ten billion people around you, and so on, and so on. In principle, this is all, of course, your world.

This is what appears to you. I also exist in this world of yours. And I also imagine myself existing in some kind of my own world.

Kabbalists write that in the future all people will unite into one single humankind and become like one organism in their feelings. In this state, time will vanish.

If no one feels like a single person but only as the totality of all mankind, then no one from the future will come to you because there will be no such state when we represent individual people. All of us together will become one person called Adam.

And then, as it is written in Kabbalah, material reality will disappear from our senses because we will not feel disconnected from each other, but we will begin to exist in one common spiritual body.

Therefore, we do not need to create a time machine to soar into the future because it exists in a completely different degree.
