Question: There is a lot of talk about spirituality now. How does one recognize the level and correctness of the teaching? What can you recommend? There are many different options. How does one choose the best one?

Answer: I don’t know. I do not call anyone, I do not attract anyone, and I do not entice anyone. I can only tell you one thing: you must feel it yourself, not to trust, but to feel what is closer to you.

Kabbalah is a science that explains everything very logically and sensibly, it uses examples and exercises, not some mystical, meditative ones. If meditation or prayer is closer to you, then go to other places. If you are closer to science, clearer knowledge, then come to us.

Question: How can it be felt? What is this feeling and how can you find out inside yourself what is closer? How is closeness manifested?

Answer: There are people who by their nature, say: “You tell me something so that I believe in it. Give me some piece of paper, and I’ll use it to pray so that I feel good,” like a small child holding onto a pacifier or a rattle, and this gives him confidence. He doesn’t need anything else in life.

But if a person wants to comprehend, learn, understand, and, most importantly, achieve something specifically different, then he comes to us.

He senses that the truth is here. Not just like that, but through feelings and reason. Mostly by reason. He understands that this is indeed a science that seriously speaks about an attainment of the upper layers of the world, the systems that govern.

And this is exactly what is intended for our generation.

Question: Baal HaSulam writes that there is nothing more sublime than truth and nothing lower than a lie. How can we define categories “truth” and “lie” in our world? Where is the truth here? After all, everyone has their own truth.

Answer: This is exactly the problem. Therefore, we are not properly oriented to anything in our life and we replace lies with the truth and the truth with lies all the time.

Question:  Where can this measuring device be found? What and who is the benchmark?

Answer: Only the science of Kabbalah talks about that. We see how all religions, philosophies, and psychologies go wild. And so, the whole world.

Comment: Indeed. There is no generally accepted agreement that this is true.

My Response: None. You can even go through the criminal, procedural, and all sorts of other codes, from country to country, and you will see that everyone has different concepts of truth and false.

Question: But if it is natural, maybe it is correct? Who said that there should be one concept of truth?

Answer: If Indians live somewhere, Eskimos somewhere, Africans somewhere and they are not connected with each other, then it is normal. But if the globe becomes round and everyone communicates with each other and everyone needs some common ground to understand each other,  for this we practically need one law.

This is the same as physical laws. For example, the law of gravity is the same for all and nobody has problems with it. This is natural. Social laws should be the same. But because we are egoists, everyone wants to bend laws for themselves.

We cannot change the laws of nature in any way. And social laws are given to us so that we can adapt them all the time to ourselves and to the truth. That is why it is said: “Seek justice.” Seek for a long time, seek all your life, from generation to generation, and gradually you will advance. Then you will have a society that will truly move forward.

 Dear Michael Laitman,

I went through all the spiritual practices: I was a Buddhist, a Hare Krishna, I studied the Vedas, converted to Islam, I was baptized, and lived as a hermit for two years. If I tell my story, everyone would be stunned.

But for three months now, I have been sitting here watching your videos, unable to stop. Why is that? I don’t want to be disappointed again. What would you advise me to do? I feel like I have finally found what I have been looking for all my life.

Answer: Well, I congratulate you!

Comment: I understand his fear. He is afraid it will be yet another disappointment.

My Response: It all depends on him, not on Kabbalah, because this is the truth and is absolutely infinite, but on him. How much he is able to invest himself into it, in fulfilling the conditions for the revelation of the Creator and beginning to reveal Him. Then he will not have any more problems. But it can take a very long time.

Question: What is your advice for how he can stick to it so that he does not fall off the path?

Answer: He needs to seriously start studying, read everything that we have on our websites in the archive, and be in our lessons. As he reads it, he “flushes” himself with this material. It all gets absorbed, purifying him from the inside out, and so he advances.

Question: Is there a point of no return that he can reach past which he would not fall off the path?

Answer: No. “Do not believe in yourself until the day you die.”

Comment: Meaning, the Creator can play such a joke on him again that it will divert him altogether?

My Response: Yes. The Creator puts such obstacles before a person that he can only advance by faith above reason.

This is done so that he acquires a serious spiritual Kli, a vessel in which he can truly reveal the entire universe. This is an anti-egoistic, above-the-ego state. This is the creation of a new world inside a person, a spiritual world inside him.

Question: How can we know that we have a connection with the teacher?

Answer: If you participate in the lessons and follow my advice all the time, then you already have a double connection with me. After all, you receive the method from me and you try to implement it between you and return to me with questions.

This is your connection with the teacher. It is conveyed through an external connection to an internal connection, and you begin to feel it.

Question: Can people who have no connection to the wisdom of Kabbalah at all open up new horizons for me in understanding the wisdom of Kabbalah and in understanding myself?

Answer: Absolutely not. They will begin to delve into psychology or philosophy, into the philosophies of the East etc., but not into the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Baal HaSulam says that the only way to attain the wisdom of Kabbalah is through a Kabbalist teacher. I met a Sufi sage in England once.

In my meeting with that sage he also told me: “If you wish to study with me, you need to love me.” This means that everything is based on the connection between the teacher and the student.

Question: The opening of energy zones, chakras, astral trips, and meditation are fundamental spiritual practices. Why does Kabbalah limit itself and ignore them, as if everything related to magic was specially removed from it?

Answer: That which exists only in your head, in mysticism, in your ideas and thoughts, is not in Kabbalah.

Kabbalah should give a person a result. Moreover, this result must be tested by experience, in practice. If this is missing and there are only far-fetched ideas, then this is not science.

Kabbalah talks about how we should change our senses, and does that clearly, in a regulated manner, step by step. And in accordance with this, we will feel a new world in them.

You may say, “This is also mysticism.” No! This is not mysticism because here you calculate how much I change my egoism, how much I rise above it, to what level, how, and what I feel at the same time in the next level of the universe, which is revealed to me above my egoism.

And I can come back again and rise again. And the other does the same, and we describe it to each other. This is absolutely real. But all this must be felt.

Many sciences are at a level where you cannot transfer anything to another individual, everyone must somehow experience it in themselves.

Question: We do not need astral trips, meditation, and opening the third eye?

Answer: No way! Personally, I am a very realistic person by nature. My first occupation, even before Kabbalah, was biological medical cybernetics. I cannot imagine doing meditation: sitting with folded arms, eyes closed, and delving into something.

Question: Kabbalah is actually based on a person believing in it. Without faith, is there no Kabbalah? If so, is Kabbalah a work of man?

Answer: I can only say one thing: start learning. The lessons will start awakening all sorts of impressions and feelings in you, and you will begin to see the world in a whole new way.

This is not self-persuasion or some kind or confusion; on the contrary, it is a revelation of a new mind. You will simply become wiser and smarter, it will be explained to you how you were created, what is happening to you, etc.

After that, you will see that a completely new possibility opens before you to raise yourself to the next level of sensation, to analyze and synthesize everything that happens to you and around you.

You will be able to become more objective, escape your boundaries, and view the world as if outside of yourself. You will not be leaving this world, as they say in mysticism, but a conceptual perception of the world independent of your five senses and your egoism.

You will get the opportunity to be more detached from your animalistic senses, from your habits. Then you can really see that Kabbalah does not enslave you but gives you the opportunity to look at the world with a clear mind.

Question: To be objective, does that mean to get the same attitude toward the world as the Creator?

Answer: This is what we should strive for: to break out of the control of our animalistic nature and be above it.

Comment: During a good performance in the theater, the script itself and the scenes become secondary, while something internal begins to be transmitted that is difficult to explain in words—the soul of the performance. It evokes some kind of inspiration, excitement of something greater beyond what you see. Art, in my opinion, exists only for the purpose of having a breakthrough moment, of drinking from some fountain.

My Response: Art shows us that it is possible to rise above the purely psychological, every-day considerations and enter a field that is connected not with what is happening on stage, but with a certain force that controls the movement of some phenomena that exist above us, beyond time and space.

We must begin to feel it within us. This is the theater that is inside of us. And instead of the big green crocodile that is mentioned in The Book of Zohar, I feel a quality called “crocodile.”

This is not a theatrical image that certain people evoke in me. Through allegorical images I begin to feel the spiritual forces that define them and are called a particular word.

For me, this crocodile no longer has an image of a green monster. It can be positive, pleasant, kind, intelligent, controlling, albeit necessary and targeted, etc…

It turns out that when you read The Book of Zohar, you absolutely do not connect words with their images in this world! Once you snap out of it, you start wondering about how others perceive this text or listen to it. And it seriously brings you to some other reality, I would say, to unreality.

Question: The views of Kabbalah are close to Buddhism and in many respects to yoga, Catholicism, and European alchemy, apparently, according to the methods of achieving a brighter future. But, as far as I understand, the brightest future can be achieved only through unity in Kabbalah. Why is that? If other schools offer this, why don’t they count?

Answer: Kabbalists do not reject anyone. But, apparently, there are several ways to unite mankind. Today we understand that without unity we will simply perish, we will destroy each other. From everything that happens to us, we see that this is the only way to salvation. Neither the development of technology nor anything else will help us. We need to develop a person for communication, for a greater good connection with others.

Kabbalah explains how to do this. It relies on a good force hidden in nature that can unite us. Man does not have this power. No matter how many meditations we do or how we  employ various methods with all kinds of exercises, this will not help us, because egoism permeates us literally from top to bottom.

The Kabbalistic methodology is built on uniting humanity with the help of a good force that exists in nature but is hidden from us. Therefore, Kabbalah is called a secret science because it reveals this power, and then by using it, we can unite. This is what makes Kabbalah different from other teachings.

But this is not meditation, not a physical exercise. This is truly delving into nature. But it is different. You just need to understand what it is.

In principle, Kabbalah does not deny anything, in fact, neither do all the other methods. Nor do they deny each other, but each has a different approach.

In humanity there are different groups of people with different inclinations and psychological preparations from nature. And so a different approach is needed. By the way, in Kabbalah it is said that there are many ways to achieve unity.

But the fact that unification between all is the goal and the truly correct way of existence cannot be denied today. A person should check for himself whether the method of Kabbalah suits him. And if not, then he can choose something else.

But all the same, you need to strive to unite people. I believe that this is everyone’s task and responsibility.

The Book of Zohar is a system. The ten Kabbalists who wrote it, through their merging with each other, closed the world of infinity with our world in such a way that when we start reading The Book of Zohar, we kind of push the buttons and actually start this system.

That is, we do not just read what is printed. The Book is arranged in such a way that what is printed on paper directly affects our souls, our inner part that is hidden from us.

When a person starts to read, one does not feel anything, but launches this system on oneself, integrates with it, and causes the influence of a higher force, which manifests in the person in their inner part, the soul, which begins to come out.

And then there is contact between the human soul and the upper light and a person begins to feel in this the upper world, the highest state. This is one’s exit into the eternal, perfect dimension. This is what we must achieve while being in this world, in this life, to rise to the next level of existence.
