Question: The Torah tells us that on the way to the promised land, the people of Israel fought with several nations, and they were instructed to destroy Amalek, even to erase the memory of him.

The Torah also says that when the seven nations conquered the land of Israel, the men had to be killed and the women taken captive. In addition, it is described that the Jews fought with the mixed multitude (Erev Rav), but nowhere does it say that they should be killed.

We have different desires and we have to deal with them in different ways. Why?

The Torah began to be uncovered when humanity was already able to start taking a reasonable, realistic attitude to its life, to its development.

The first time this happened was during the time of Adam HaRishon, then in ancient Babylon after twenty generations of students from Adam to Abraham who became the spiritual leader of Babylon and went against the natural egoistic development of the Babylonians who were a collection of seventy nations on Earth.

Abraham tried to understand this system, was able to perceive it, and passed it on to his students. His father was a great spiritual leader of the Babylonians. Abraham explained that all of nature was created in such a way in order for man to consciously bring it to an absolutely completely connected system based on the principle of loving thy neighbor as thyself, in spite of one’s egoism.

Egoism is given to us specifically so that we can lead ourselves from hatred for each other to a state of love among us. In principle, the idea is very simple, to build love over all disagreements. That is what he taught them.

The global nature we exist in still obliges all its parts, material and spiritual, to eventually come to this state. Question: It is said in the Torah: “He who comes to kill you, kill him first.” What does this mean in our inner work?

Question: There is a holiday called Jerusalem Day. After the Six-Day War, Jerusalem became whole and this day was designated as a holiday.

What does Jerusalem mean in a high sense and Jerusalem Day in a spiritual sense?

Answer: Jerusalem Day is a day when the people, land, and state will find their central point of existence. Jerusalem—”Ir Shalem” (whole city), when people will feel that they have one heart, one thought, and one desire toward one goal.

Question: What is the goal of these united people?

Answer: To reveal the goal of the existence of the whole world to the whole world.

Question: We know from Kabbalistic sources that “Earth” (Hebrew: Eretz) comes from the word “Ratzon” (desire). And “Israel” means Yashar Kel (Straight to the Creator). Thus, the land of Israel is the desire for the quality of bestowal, the equivalence with the Creator.

What is the connection of this desire to the coarse matter that we see in our world as a result of such a high quality?

Answer: We observe the correlation between the spiritual and the material also in our world. Many Kabbalistic sources describe that all spiritual forces distributed in the spiritual world have their material expression on Earth, in space, around the Earth. And we can see them all.

Much has been said about the land of Israel. If we observe the laws of the spiritual world, the laws of bestowal, love, connection, and proper interaction among ourselves, then we feel the blessings of living in the material land of Israel.

And on the contrary, if we do not observe them, then this Earth, as it is said, will vomit us out, we will not be able to exist on it, and we will still be forced to leave it after a long torment.

We seem to have received this land 70 years ago, but we cannot say that we really have it. We simply occupied it and did not adapt to it because we did not observe in material form the spiritual laws of bestowal, love, connection, and benevolent attitude toward each other.

Question: But why does the Earth itself, this coarse substance consisting of atoms and molecules, correspond to the desire to become like the Creator, the quality of bestowal?

Answer: Because spiritual forces operate on all levels of nature: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human. And the Earth feels it.

The Earth is not coarse matter. We exist on it, we feed from it. This is our grace, our mother, as they say. Without it, man cannot exist.

Until we put ourselves in order, in love for each other, in connection with each other and with the whole world, with humanity and the universe, we will not achieve good conditions in this world and on this Earth.

Question: We know that the Earth is made up of atoms, the atoms are combined into molecules. The Earth has a core, a mantle, a crust. And what are the elements of the desire to give, to become like the Creator?
