A Remedy For Depression

laitman_600_01Question: Scientists from Yale University have found that helping friends, acquaintances, and even strangers can reduce the impact of daily stress of emotional states on a person’s mental health.

Does being friendly help really lower pressures?

Answer: Of course, a good environment always helps, and even more so if the environment operates psychologically on a person so that he doesn’t feel it, but it’s in the air.

Today many studies are being conducted on this subject, and I welcome them because they align with the wisdom of Kabbalah. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the most important thing are the relationships between us.

Not only do they prolong our life and make it better, more comfortable, safer, and more pleasant, but they also make us feel positive vibes from nature that surrounds us—from the still, vegetative, and animate levels of nature—so that we can be incorporated in all of the levels of the general good integral connection.

When this happens, we begin to feel good inside the integral connection between us and the surrounding nature, the inner force that has created all four forms of existence—still, vegetative, and animate nature and man—and sustains them in the right mutual balance between them. We feel a new state, the next level of our evolution.

Reaching the next level, the new dimension is the feeling of the upper force that has created, sustains and manages all of nature that we must reveal.

Question: Does this revelation happen through our positive attitude toward one another?

Answer: It is expressed in our feelings in an attitude we call good. However, in fact, it is an attitude that complements and balances us even without any feelings.  In other words, it is a mutual complement between all parts of nature; through our attitude to everyone else we bring the whole of nature to balanced, harmonious, mutual connection.

And then you discover a new and higher power that lies within this context. We need to achieve it and to reveal, because that way we will find the key to our lives, how we should manage our lives and everything that happens to us.

Question: I tell people about it, and they don’t understand what connection or what mutual relationships I am talking about. People regard you as a dreamer, an idealist.

Answer: That’s all right, but we need it in order to oblige ourselves to look for meaning in life! How can it be that the entire world was created and exists in the wickedness that humanity generates?

After all, there is a form of life other than this world that we must discover, and the wisdom of Kabbalah tells us that it depends on us. This is how we are pushed and spurred with a stick toward happiness.

I am not a dreamer and have no illusions, but I simply know how everything works and is revealed to a person. I have students who actually fulfill this.

So, I offer you a real, practical method, and if you implement it, you will not feel that you are dreaming or fantasizing. Others may see you as such, but you surely are not. And if you have come across this article, let’s try to do it together.

Let’s advance and make our lives better. Seize this opportunity instead of sitting and complaining.

The Best Profession

laitman_254_02Comment: Scientists have studied which profession most reduces human lives. For 17 years during 140,000 people were studied.

According to their findings, the groups most at risk included engineers, workers who provide services, clerks, copywriters, and teachers. On the other hand, professions most favorable to people’s health included street cleaners and miners.

Answer: The work of a street cleaner is clear. They are outside everyday breathing fresh air sweeping the streets, and so they are close to nature although they live in the city. Mining is a risky profession, but on the other hand it is below the surface of the earth, away from people and in a different ecological area, so although it is hard work, it is in a different atmosphere, in the virgin atmosphere of the earth. Forest keepers and gardeners are also favorable professions.

Question: Do you believe that the best professions are those that allow people to keep away from other people?

Answer: Yes, of course! But if we begin to correct our mutual relations it will be totally different. If we don’t correct them, you should really keep away from this pack. After all, what makes up human society is incredible.

Question: What do you think is the best and healthiest profession?

Answer: I don’t want to use high language, but my profession as a teacher and an educator is very important. It is a noble profession, although thankless profession.

But I am still very hopeful. I love people even though I am a loner by nature and I cannot establish close relations with people. I have changed a little lately and I think it isn’t only because I have grown older but because I engage in my science.

Today I understand people’s weaknesses and love them with all their weaknesses. I hope I will be able to bring them something good and that they will be able to hear and understand the profound wisdom that is 6,000 years old, and which is the basis of all the corporeal sciences, religions, and philosophies.

I have not lost hope that I will be able to help humanity in some way, to ease the changes that it is about to undergo: climatic and social changes. This is the reason I regard the work of an educator as a very healthy profession. I urge all those who cherish the wisdom of Kabbalah to try and acquire this profession because it is important and special since those who engage in it leave people something.

Harmful Food And Healthy Food

Laitman_506_6Question: Scientists from Carnegie University in the US believe that vegetarianism and health diets are harmful to the environment.

They have conducted many studies and claim that consuming fruits, vegetables, and dairy products causes great harm to the environment since there is greater energy and water consumption associated with them, which pollutes the atmosphere. At the same time, they say that meat consumption has a positive effect on the environment.

Answer: We believe that vegetarian food is healthier, but in fact, we actually have changed ourselves. We have formatted ourselves so that it is no longer clear what is good and what is bad for our body and for the natural environment.

In our current way of life when seven to eight billion people populate the earth, we cannot strive to ensure everyone haw healthy, normal, natural food. It is because it is impossible to grow so much food naturally since you would not be able to feed anyone that way.

In order to grow such amounts of fruits and vegetables the old-fashioned way, we would need ten planets equipped with different automatic devices. However, even then, we would have miniature cucumbers and tomatoes. In other words, it doesn’t make sense. It is impossible to feed huge numbers of people that way.

At the same time, we must take into account that natural products spoil very quickly, so we should eat what we develop.

I had a friend who worked at the institute of agriculture. I once asked him, “What do you do? What do you feed us?” I told him a joke that you could play football with a tomato that we consume today, and nothing would happen to it, and you would even be able to cut it into a salad.

His reply was, “Yes, we aspire to grow exactly this type of tomato that you could throw against the wall, and then make whatever you want of it.” They will be in different shapes, so you would be able to transport them wherever you want, keep them for a long time, and then make whatever you want from them. They still will be tasty in texture and flavor.

Question: What about people’s health?

Answer: People also will be semi-synthetic. Everything will be normal, and nothing will happen because we have multiplied to eight billion people on earth, and we need to supply food for everyone, and natural products cannot be preserved long enough.

Today, we can build two greenhouses in the Negev which will feed all of Russia with different kinds of vegetables. We can grow miniature trees that will bear huge fruit, and it isn’t a problem at all. This way, humanity will not be hungry, and food products will not be spoiled because they have been engineered that way.

This means that everything will be fine. You load tomatoes on a truck and ship them wherever you want to. They will not rot after two or three days. Then you can wash them a little and see that there are no worms. Everything is clean, and you can make a salad. We must take this seriously. It is true that people are critical. I agree with them, but what can we do if we must feed eight billion people, and our desire is that no one should lack anything.

Question: So, what is the conclusion?

Answer: First, we must make sure that everyone has whatever he needs: half a kilo of tomatoes, half a kilo of cucumbers, half a kilo of peppers a day, 200 grams of meat, a piece of fish, and a glass of wine or grape juice. Everyone should have whatever he wants and everything will be fresh: one apple, one pear, and a slice of good bread.

However, can we do that? It is only thanks to chemistry. Otherwise, it would not reach the consumer, and you would not be able to preserve the food, pack it, and so forth.

In any case, you must apply science so that food would reach people in the most distant places and no one would be hungry.

When you achieve that with the help of science, you should make sure that it is as least harmful as possible. On the other hand, what difference does it make whether it is harmful or not? In the last century, life expectancy has doubled.
So, what’s next? Are people who live a normal life and who consume this food less healthy? Never mind.

There are natural diseases, so we should try to understand what they stem from. I don’t see that vegetarians are healthier than other people. My teacher Rabash could buy any type of food, and I suggested that he buy special fruits and vegetables and a special type of meat, but he said, “I need to eat what everyone eats.” No matter how hard I tried to convince him that that type of food was harmful, he refused and said, “I need to consume what all the others do because I live among them.”

Question: Does this mean that the conclusion is that, first of all, there is nowhere to escape to, and second, that the people will not starve?

Answer: No, the second conclusion comes first. The most important thing is that people will not starve.

Brain Research

laitman_543_01Comment: At Tel Aviv University conducted a study, which conclude that there are no difference between the structure of the brains of men and women.

Answer: Certainly, because the brain is a machine, a computer.

There are no differences in the structure of the male and female brains. Everything depends on desire, or as they say, on the heart. But the heart is just a motor, a pump. A person’s desire is not found in any physical volume.

There is no initiator of desire within our body, it is found outside of us, and the body is its receiver that absorbs the desire, begins to process it, and reacts to it in a particular way. So men receive particular types of desires and women other types, and in this manner their brains are activated. But in themselves, their brains have no differences.

Desires come from a network that links between us, but we don’t feel it. And all of our actions go there: the mental, physical, moral, ethical, whatever. All of our reactions on all levels go back to this network.

I receive stimuli from this network, react to them, and these reactions go back into the network. The problem is learning how to accept and grasp the signals that reach us emotionally, react to them properly, and transmit them back correctly.

If I do this, I feel this network as a new world, the upper world is revealed to me. The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks precisely about how to react to this system correctly, use it, and manage it. The cybernetics of the future is the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Pros And Cons Of Sports

laitman_737_01Question: Recently 500 athletes from 48 countries took part in the Wingate European Swimming Championship in Israel. Is it possible to unite the world through events of this kind?

Answer: These kind of sporting events have nothing to do with friendship or love. This competition is held on the basis of mutual hatred, hostility, rejection, and opposition. In sports, athletes must overcome pain, laziness, and all sorts of problems, especially today when athletic achievements are beyond human powers.

There is no connection to unity or friendship in this. There is a great contradiction between athletic sports and how it is today. Now sports have become venal, athletes use doping to win, etc.

A real sport makes a person healthier, helps him survive correctly in his physical envelope and solve the essential problem he was created for: the attainment of the goal of creation. It requires strength, a normal healthy nervous system, and mutual understanding. True sports  are directed only toward the rehabilitation of the body of everyone, “A healthy mind in a healthy True sport must be directed only toward improving everyone’s bodies, “a healthy mind in a healthy body!” And when you try to be better than others, this is no longer sports. Sports should be collective, not for someone or something, or against something, but for the sake of connection and unity. I am in favor of this kind of sports!

Bureaucracy In The Health System

laitman_566_02Comment: There is a lot of talk now about the terrible bureaucratic situation in the healthcare system in Israel.

Answer: Doctors are generally the weakest organizers and business managers.

So, the treatment of people becomes a problem too because everything depends on proper organization. The healthcare system must administer the business, then everything will be better. A free or semi-trade union for the healthcare system is not effective.

Question: Won’t paying for medicine cause a public uproar?

Answer: Instead of general population paying for their healthcare, I would charge healthcare system for every shekel invested into it, so that they truly work for the benefit of people and treat them the way they should. This would be much more effective.

Today, our world is organized according to egoistic principles, and the healthcare system must be reorganized precisely according to that. Otherwise, we won’t achieve anything. If we were to introduce socialist principles into an egoistic world, they immediately would devour the entire system.

How Can We Get Rid Of Aggression And Rage?

laitman_622_01Question: Why do I sometimes have outbursts of unwarranted aggression and rage toward people?

Answer: It is because you feel that you are an egoist, and you are unwilling to accept it internally.

This aggression gradually will switch to love of people, but it will take a long time and many years of studying the wisdom of Kabbalah. So I recommend you start now since, otherwise, you will not be able to get rid of this aggression.

You are the one who suffers from the fact that you are so aggressive toward people. You hate people and relate to them harshly, and hate yourself because of this attitude. You don’t want to be in this position, but you cannot get rid of it either.

The Need For Spiritual Search

Laitman_109Question: How does our reality help us advance in spirituality? Can we consciously pay attention to any signs so that we can advance according to them?

Answer: There is only one sign that clearly shows that a person can begin to engage in attaining the upper world. It is the emergence of the most serious question about the meaning of life and the yearning for the world that will help him know what he lives for. Otherwise, he simply has no reason to live! It isn’t indifference or depression, but a yearning to discover the essence of our existence.

In this state, it seems that a person cannot do anything, “Leave me alone! I don’t want anything.” But this isn’t a descent—although it may be what we expect—but a state in which he is drawn upward toward where he can attain the source of his existence, the source of life.

Question: Will everyone feel the yearning for the search of the meaning of life, for reaching the upper world?

Answer: Gradually, more and more people in each generation feel the need to discover the upper world. Forty years ago when I began studying Kabbalah, very few people were interested in it. And today there are hundreds of thousands. I hope that there will be millions in the near future.

We see this in the number of people who are depressed, use drugs, and are detached from life. These are all signs of the lack of meaning in life.

So I think depression is a normal disease because a person’s physiology is healthy while his psychology, which means the soul, begins to feel the need of spiritual search.

The Holocaust Changed The Genes Of Generations Of Jews

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (Max-Planck-Geselleschaft):An international team lead by Rachel Yehuda, professor at Mount Sinai hospital in New York, and for the molecular analyses Elisabeth Binder, director at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, studied the genes of 32 Jewish individuals who had been held in concentration camps, experienced torture or had been forced into hiding during the Second World War. The researchers additionally examined the genes of the group’s children who are known to have an increased likelihood of stress disorders, and compared the results with Jewish families living outside Europe during the Holocaust.

“The scientists concentrated on epigenetic changes in the FKBP5 gene which has long been the research focus of Elisabeth Binder. ‘With “epigenetic” we mean all processes that do not change the actual genetic code but alter its accessibility,’ explains Elisabeth Binder. ‘FKPB5 determines how effectively the organism can react to stress hormones, and so regulates the entire stress hormone system. FKBP5 is altered in several diseases such as posttraumatic stress disorder or major depression and has now been associated with intergenerational effects.’

“The results suggest that ‘epigenetic inheritance’, where a person’s life experiences can affect the genes of their offspring, may play an important part in a child’s development. ‘The gene changes in the children did not appear to be mediated by adversity experienced during their own childhood but could only be attributed to Holocaust exposure in the parents,’ said Rachel Yehuda. ‘Environmental influences such as stress, smoking or diet can affect the genes of our children. Early detection of such epigenetic marks may advance the development of preventive strategies to address the intergenerational effects of exposure to trauma.’

My Comment: All of us, all of humanity and all of its generations are completely interconnected as a single organism. Therefore it is natural that all information is transmitted, and immediately, by all both “up and down,” within a generation and between generations and is forever preserved in our shared memory, which is our common cause and complete correction.

In this case, in particular, until the Jews, do not fulfill its purpose— to lead the world to a single whole—this memory will force them to fulfill their mission.
