Question: Today doctors are against cesarean sections. They advocate this due to the fact that while the child is in the uterus he stays there in an absolutely sterile state. During the natural passage through the birth canal he receives the first protective dose of microbes.

Meanwhile during a cesarean section he is left to himself and is unprotected from the possibility of receiving various kinds of infectious diseases. Scientists say that in the case of a cesarean section there is no connection between mother and child. Why is that?

Answer: There are a lot of materials on this topic in Kabbalah. The fact is that childbirth is a huge, serious, and very important process as a mother pushes her child into the world.

If initially all her efforts were aimed at preserving this foreign body developing within her body, at suppressing its rejection, and at perceiving it as her most important organ, now there is a completely different connection of the mother to the child.

She now has to push out of herself what she kept in herself. And the child has a desire to get out of the mother, which was like a small prison and to push the walls. Such a mutual occurrence of dislike for each other generates mutual feelings in the future.

At first, in the inner world when the child is within the mother there is complete harmony between them and they understand each other and both suppress themselves: the child so as not to harm the mother and the mother so as not to harm the child. They suppress their egoistic qualities and interact correctly.

Then, during childbirth these egoistic qualities are as though turned on and the mother and child repel each other, and therefore diverge; the child is born. Moreover, the child turns his head down, which signifies the changes taking place in him. What was the main thing now becomes secondary.

And when a child is born, he already has a different need for a mother and that need exists on another level—feeding. He no longer feeds through the umbilical cord, but through the breast, which is at a completely different level, and instead of blood with milk. The mother’s blood turns into milk and as the child receives it in him, the milk turns into blood and flesh.

Comment: Today, the trend of artificial feeding is very common. Women do not want to feed babies naturally. It is said that with artificial feeding, the mother does not have a feeling of love for the child.

Answer: It is natural. We know that love arises for someone who is dear. And since we are egoists, the one in whom we invest is dear to us. After all, you invest yourself, something of your own. And then part of what you invested in him is dear to you.

It turns out that it is not the child himself who is dear to you, but it is you who gave birth to him, raised him, and so on. Therefore, the more difficult the birth, the more the mother loves the child. And with a Cesarean section, this is not the case.

The same is true when breastfeeding. If the baby arrives as a result of a Cesarean section, then the milk may not appear, since the impulse toward it is given during childbirth. According to Kabbalah, all the hormones and everything that surrounded the baby in the uterus that created, guarded, and shaped him, rises up to the milk system, and then milk begins to be produced.

It is the system that took care of him internally that goes to the next level, and feeding begins. The milk is the same blood that has risen to a level at which a child can absorb it. Blood is the lower level, milk is the next.

Kabbalah says that a child born naturally should be nursed for up to two years, that is, 24 months. But this does not mean that the baby should be fed only milk.

In general, during the period of breastfeeding, the child should receive women’s milk, but not necessarily from his mother. There are many such examples in the Bible.

Question: Why are diseases transmitted more often through the maternal side rather than through the paternal one?

Answer: In theory, this is how it should be because it is through the maternal side that everything is transmitted from person to person. The father only gives information, and the mother lays all the foundations of the material organism.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What causes mental illness?“

Egoistic human nature—the incomplete and broken self-centered desire—is the cause of all problems, including mental illness.

It functions with a significant fault by trying to satiate itself at the expense of others. By doing so, it devours both itself and others. This faulty functioning of our desire is behind our every illness—mental included.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, as egoists, we are opposite to nature’s altruistic form, and this opposition between us and nature gives us to every illness, problem and pain.

If we could perceive nature in its wholeness, then we would perceive nature functioning by laws of love, bestowal and connection. Therefore, the more we are opposed to nature’s laws, the more we enter into dissonance with them, then the more we experience nature’s completely positive force, which we dwell within, in an increasingly negative way. As such, the more we egoistic we become in our development, the more illnesses and suffering we experience.

Curing mental illness, as well as every other problem and pain, at its root would thus involve correcting our egoistic human nature: positively connecting with supportive, encouraging and loving attitudes to each other above our egoistic drives, and by doing so, aligning ourselves with nature. We would then experience nature’s completely positive force in a positive way, elevating ourselves to a newfound harmony, peace and balance with each other and the world.

Question: How is the incurability of mental diseases connected with our egoistic human nature?

Answer: Our egoistic nature is the root of all problems. Or rather, they are based on desire, something that is not our biological matter, but the human nature in us.

This desire is split and functions in such a way that it devours itself, devours others, seeks to satiate itself at their expense. So the problem of all diseases, including psychological ones, lies in such improper functioning.

This follows absolutely clearly from Kabbalah because by living only for ourselves in an egoistic way, we are opposite to the light, and this gives rise to all diseases, problems, and suffering.

The opposite of light is the opposite of that upper, general force of nature that can be called Creator, nature, or light. It acts only for the sake of bestowal and love, and the more opposed to them we are, the more we enter into dissonance with this force.

As a result, this good power of nature gives rise to completely opposite consequences in us.

My Response: Naturally, he cares about this. He will take care for himself.

Question: What do you think about this aspiration of people? He probably explains it beautifully: “I want people to live longer,” and so on.

Answer: Why do people need to live longer?

Comment: Man wants to live longer.

My Response: Why? He does not know. But he wants to. Let him answer this first: “Why do you need it?”

Let’s say I have the elixir of life. You take one drop and you will live another 100 years. Then you will come to me again. And then what? How will this help such a Mephistopheles?

Question: Do you think that a person’s hand will not shake when he takes this drop in order to live longer? Or do you actually want that his hand would shake, and he would think: “Why? What will it give me?”

Answer: The instinct to live is very strong. If I know that I am now in charge of my life and death, then I think that everyone will agree for yet another round.

Question: To live more, to suffer for another round?

Answer: Only the fear of death, its inevitability, and the unknown will make a person live. That is, nothing good.

Question: Are you saying that the fear of death will make a person live and not the purpose of life?

Answer: It is natural. What purpose of life? There is none. The purpose of an ordinary person’s life is to escape from death. Why? “I am afraid.”

Medium published my new article “New Drug that Promises to Target Only Cancer Will Not Kill It”

Scientists at Tel-Aviv University (TAU) reported that they have developed a new way to deliver drugs directly to cancer cells rather than dispersing them throughout the body. According to the magazine Science Daily, “The study opens a new path to a personalized and precisely targeted battle against cancer.” Prof. Dan Peer, head of the research team, stated that their aim was “to silence the enzyme HO1 which enables tumors to develop resistance to chemotherapy, and ‎to conceal themselves from the immune system. …Our new nanodrug,” he asserts, “knows how to ‎precisely target the cancer cells, silence the enzyme, and expose the tumor to chemotherapy, ‎without causing any damage to surrounding healthy cells.” I am all for advanced medicine, but medicine cannot cure the cause of cancer, and without curing the cause, it is like sealing one leak in a pipe only to find that we have created a new one instead.

Cancer is a unique disease. It develops when cells begin to consume their environment and grow at its expense. Eventually, cancer brings on itself its own death by killing the body that sustains it, but it cannot help itself.

That “selfish” behavior of tumors is very similar to the way we are behaving toward each other and toward the environment. Although we are dependent on both for our survival, our attitude toward them is opportunistic and abusive, yet we cannot help ourselves. In that sense, humans are the cancer of the earth.

While it is not that the more selfish one is, the more likely one is to develop cancer, the increasing prevalence of cancer in human society as a whole is a result of our increasingly exploitative attitude toward Earth and toward each other. Just as kind and generous people, or even little children, may develop cancer, the effects of humanity’s abusive attitude can manifest in parts of the world that are not particularly exploitative. There is mutual responsibility here: Just as the entire organism suffers when one organ becomes sick, all of humanity suffers when its overall attitude becomes sick, namely abusive.

Cancer is not the only outgrowth of our abusiveness. Basically, so are all of our diseases. However, cancer is the most striking case of a “selfish” disease, since the way it operates is so similar to the way we are behaving toward each other, toward animals and plants, and toward Earth as a whole.

Because cancer is an “egoistic” illness, the only cure for it is to cure our egoism. Eliminating cancer, therefore, requires uprooting egoism from our society.

Clearly, this is an educational process and not a medical one, but we will feel its benefits in every aspect of our lives. Education toward reciprocity and consideration will not only benefit our health, but our economy, the safety of our society, the level of drug abuse and drug-related crime, and our overall standard of living and well-being.

Even if we cannot see an overt connection between cancer and selfishness, eliminating the latter is clearly a worthwhile goal. Therefore, I would suggest that we try it first, and when we see the results, we will not want to stop.

Question: Why are mental illnesses incurable?
