Comment: In your blog you wrote that nature leads us along the path of evolutionary development until we become similar to it and that the blows and suffering we feel are nature’s reaction to our non-conformity with it. You say the only solution to all crises is to achieve balance with nature.

My Response: Blows are a product of our non-conformity with nature, since we bring it into imbalance and therefore it comes into even greater motion.

If we were directed correctly toward the goal, then all of nature would act correctly. We and nature must move in unison, including the inanimate aspect of nature. Within the earth geological changes must take place; inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature, everything must change. But if it would change together with us toward the goal, then that is more favorable and is done in a good way.

In the meantime, we see that this is unfortunately not the case. Because we are not going straight to the goal. Thus, we are causing all these problems and all these cases.

Question: If these blows are intended to develop a certain sensitivity to them, then why are people today becoming more and more deaf to them? They no longer hear anything and they no longer care about anything.

Answer: This is because it is not the blows that are the cause; we are the cause and our attitude toward them is actually the effect; our callousness, our egoism, which is constantly growing, is the cause of the blows, and therefore we automatically become more indifferent to them.

Question: Why are there two kinds of egoists in nature: egoists as such and egoistic altruists?

Answer: They are not altruists. In a sense, they feel like they are in the place of those people who are suffering and they admit that such a thing may happen to them. A person passes everything through himself, otherwise he does not feel.

There are people who feel suffering far away from themselves and they rejoice that the other feels bad. And there are people who feel that this can happen to them and they sympathize with the other because they can also feel bad.

Question: Why is there such a division in nature?

Answer: Because this is a quality of egoism, and egoism is our nature. There is not a single person who would not care at all about what is happening somewhere. But there are people who feel it closer to themselves and there are people who feel it further away from themselves.

We must try to fight both of those things. After all, if the world is global, and we ourselves are not close to globalism, then we oppose nature.

Comment: According to the UN, 40% of the world’s lands are defined as degraded, that is, deprived of natural resources, water, trees, vegetation.

This damage is clearly from man’s economic activity from agriculture squeezing everything out of the ground, forests are cut down, minerals are extracted, industrial pollution goes on, and so on.

And so we are approaching starvation. They say that next year, 2023, a serious famine is expected as a result of these wars and environmental disasters.

But still, I want to ask you about the Creator. We hear all the time about what’s going on, all this environmental disaster. The Creator created this blue planet with shade, with water, with minerals, with everything necessary for a person, as if he settled man here. Was it really not clear that a monster with a terrible egoistic nature was settling here?!

Answer: Not a monster. He is given all the conditions in order to realize who he is. And recognition is possible only from the opposite state. Only from the opposite state! And therefore, indeed, although he is a monster, he is given the opportunity to feel himself and raise himself to the highest degree—to the degree of the Creator. The Creator is not capable of such a thing. But we were created by Him specifically in this state.

Question: Meaning that in the beginning, He created us in such magnificent conditions that we are destroying in full now with wars, our attitude, and so on. Was this realized by the Creator?

Answer: Of course.

Question: It means that we have to reach some low point, that we are really savages and beasts? And for this to destroy the whole planet?! Isn’t it a shame?

Answer: Not to destroy it physically, it is enough for us to see what we are doing, to realize.

The fact is that if a person is stupid, then he needs to descend into this state physically. And if he is smart, then he may not sink physically, but it is enough for him to see it from afar. And this will already be enough to understand this state and not desire it.

Comment: But if we don’t feel the master and we feel like we are the masters, then what you say will never happen. We don’t feel that we are robbing and destroying.

My Response: We will start shouting from the pain, from fear, from all the problems: “Where to go?! What to do?!” We have nowhere to get away from this Earth. The earth itself is burning under the feet of humanity.

And then we will begin to feel that we have no other choice but to discover the force that controls us. Then we will begin to feel this force from the point of view of our egoism. Who controls us? Who allowed this? Who did this? Where is the villain who made such conditions for us?!

And at the same time we will begin to realize that we ourselves, it turns out, made it out of good conditions, as it is said: “And God settled man in the Garden of Eden.” And then look at what the little man made of all this. violated all conditions, all laws.

God settled man on this Earth, and he began to destroy it. And he will destroy it almost to the limit. That’s when he will feel that he has no other way out, he must change himself! Not just the Earth and around him, but change himself. As soon as he realizes that the correction of the world is in correcting himself, then he will reach the recognition of evil.

And nothing else is needed. We don’t need evil itself, we only need the recognition of evil. As soon as he realizes the evil and says, “Oh!”, that’s it, the lowest point will be passed, and he will begin to rise.

Comment: But we have destroyed this Garden of Eden. Where are we going to rise? We were given paradise, and we destroyed it.

My Response: It’s all inside us!

Question: And all these resources, all these destroyed lands, ecology?

Answer: No! This is all nonsense! Suddenly you will find that you are sprouting in a completely different place, not on the planet. You don’t need this planet and the physical world. All this is not necessary! All you need is relationships. You only live in relationships, outside of bodies.

This is the heavenly state. This is the real, true state! And our world is called imaginary. You will begin to live in this heavenly state. “And we will settle in it.”

Question: And this world as if it did not exist?

Answer: It is already called an “imaginary world.”

Question: So it’s like it’s done its duty and can disappear?

Answer: Yes, it exists in our uncorrected desires, intentions, and qualities, so that we realize all this and would want to rise to the true state, to get out of this delusion, “were like in a dream,” to get out of this dream.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Disinformation in a World without Truth”

Not long after the announcement that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is setting up a Disinformation Governance Board (DGB), its intended czar, Nina Jankowicz, announced her resignation. Several days later, the Biden administration announced the disbanding of the entire board and the abandonment of the whole idea. Apparently, the criticism that the DGB drew, including some that “likened it to the Ministry of Truth from George Orwell’s book ‘1984,’” and Jankowicz’s assertion, “I am eligible for it because I’m verified, but there are a lot of people who shouldn’t be verified, who aren’t, you know, legit, in my opinion. I mean, …they’re not trustworthy,” contributed to the decision to shelve the initiative.

I think that no one can truly claim to know the truth because truth is not at all a matter of opinion or a statement, or even this or that action. Truth is what exists, and falsehood is what does not exist, and the only thing that exists is the unbreakable connection among all people and all things.

Currently, people think that only their view is correct, and everyone else’s opinion is wrong. But since all the views are part of the network that connects us, all the views are inherently incorrect when they are viewed separately, and inherently correct when viewed as part of the network. This is why the network itself is the truth, and nothing else can be regarded as true regardless of its place and function in the network.

To make it a little clearer, think of the liver and the heart in a person’s body. From the perspective of the heart, everything that the liver does is false, wrong, and deleterious. From the perspective of the liver, everything that the heart does is equally absurd and detrimental. However, when viewed from the perspective of the person’s body, which connects the two and derives benefit from both, the two are priceless, indispensable. The truth, therefore, is visible only from the perspective of the network.

As our bodies, so are we. We are living in a network that determines everything that happens to us—good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant. The course and the events of our lives do not depend on any single person or action because we are all part of a network of connections, and the network determines everything for those within it. In other words, no one thing or element determines anything, but the connection among the elements determines their attributes, value, functionality, and longevity. Put differently, the connections between the elements determine everything.

Returning to the statement about what is true and what is false, what exists, and is therefore true, is that which enhances the connections in the network, the connection between people. This connection in the network is what we call “the upper force,” the “Creator,” or “God.” This is the truth. Accordingly, falsehood is anything that contradicts connection.

We can easily tell that the world is currently based on falsehood because it is falling apart, disintegrating. Currently, we strive to dominate, abuse, disengage, alienate, and divide. Because of it, we are contradictory to nature and are living in a lie.

As a result, however hard we try to curb CO2 emissions, deforestation, and use of plastics, we will not reverse the downward spiral of the world. As long as we do not strive to enhance connection among people, above all differences and antagonism, we will keep going in the wrong direction, a false path that will lead to nothing but defeat and agony.

It turns out that if we want to know the truth about the world, we must look at it only from the perspective of the network, the entire system that is our world, and even our universe. To do that, we must first rise above our narrow self-centered vision, as if we are liver cells judging the universe from the liver’s perspective, and adopt the perspective of the person where the liver and the heart reside. From that transcendent perspective, everything that we will see will be the true and actual reality.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Mass shootings are the symptom, not the illness”

The recent barrage of mass shootings has emphasized the need for less tolerant gun laws and for other restrictive measures. While it is obvious that mentally unstable people should not be permitted to carry or own guns, it is also evident that gun restrictions alone will not abate gun violence. The whole society has become violent and aggressive, and people’s sensitivity to violence is decreasing. Today, people almost expect mass shootings to happen. Therefore, stopping it requires more than gun laws; it requires finding its root and plucking it out.

Even a few decades ago, people did not feel so removed from one another. Alienation in society has increased to such levels that today’s normal levels of antagonism toward society would have been diagnosed as narcissism at the turn of the century. Worse yet, the level of division and hostility in society is constantly rising, and at an accelerating rate.

The ego itself is not inherently corrupt. Our entire development has relied on our ego. As it evolved, it developed human society, technology, art and culture, and medicine. Were it not for our ego, we would not have civilization.

However, because the ego is the basis of our actions, whether we are aware of it or not, there are always aggression and violence between us. At times it is overt, and at times covert, but it is always there. This is why for all our efforts, we cannot create a just society.

Human nature demands superiority, dominion, prominence. As a result, as long as we do not change human nature, there will always be ubiquitous oppression and abuse in our society, in every conceivable and inconceivable form. We conceal that drive for superiority behind “benign” terms like “competition” and “motivation,” but underneath lies the same evil inclination that pushes us to climb to the top of the heap, preferably by stepping on everybody else’s heads.

Therefore, in order to curb violence, including mass shootings, we need to “self-reform” human nature. In other words, we need to decide that we must change ourselves if we want our lives to be safer and more peaceful.

Even more important, the urgency for change must percolate large portions of society because one cannot change one’s attitude toward society without a society that supports it and strives for the same goal. Therefore, once we decide to change, we must establish community-wide educational programs that will focus not on curbing violence, but on enhancing empathy toward others, on fostering solidarity and mutual responsibility.

In order to succeed in the transition from an alienated and violent society into a cohesive and caring one, it is important not to focus on the negative, but to enhance the positive. Because the ego is constantly evolving, focusing on the negative makes us try to suppress it until we are exhausted and it bursts out even more violently than before. In addition, we have wasted our time on futile efforts and did not build an alternative to violent egoism, so there is no alternative to choose instead of more violence.

To create a positive alternative to egoism and violence, we need to foster positive values in society so we can base the relationships in our communities on them. The more energy we put into nurturing positive connections among people, the more positive will be the atmosphere in the community. This, in turn, will diminish the overall levels of violence and aggression.

For any transformation to succeed, our rule of thumb should be enhancing the positive rather than constraining the negative. If we work in this way concerning violence in the community, we will succeed. If we settle for stricter gun control, matters will continue to go downhill.

Question: Today they write a lot about such a phenomenon as “the end of the world.” Not in the sense that we will cease to exist but as the beginning of a certain period where you do not know what to do. What is this stage in the development of mankind?

Answer: It is a wonderful stage!

We were born and live now in a period when the first generation was born in our world that really got off the trees, not because we have developed technologically and are able to make all kinds of cars, locomotives, and airplanes, but because we have come to a state where we have to decide why we have appeared on this globe at all, what we should do on it, and how to truly realize ourselves.

Such a monkey appeared, developed into a little man, looked around, and thought: “And what am I for?” It looked around a bit more, saw all this: “Well, okay. And what’s next?”

Today we are coming very close to this issue in our historical development: “Why did we appear? We climbed down from trees and developed technology and social structure. What’s next? Does man have some higher purpose?”

Of course, this is not a simple question. Until it cuts through humanity, until it is realized from within that this is precisely what we are asking, that this question is a challenge that nature poses to us so that we realize and in the end give ourselves an answer or at least begin to look for an answer to the question of the meaning of life. This is a very special moment, and this generation—it is special too.

So, it is searching, without understanding why and how, trying to solve all these issues either through terror, drugs, divorce, all kinds of searches, adventures, or space, no matter what. These attempts, everything we do is practically a search for an answer about the meaning of life.

Let’s say I am heading somewhere. We see that all space programs are being curtailed: “Well, what will we find there? Stones. Nothing else.” And what will we find in some technological developments? Or in culture? We once thought that with the help of culture we would develop ourselves. And all of a sudden, they were exhausted. In the 19th century this practically ended.

The 20th century came, the century of technology: nano-technologies, computers, everything. Today we are coming to a state where the Internet connects everyone together, and we suddenly see that we are working with a machine, that is what is interesting. A person begins to discover that his connection is mainly with machines even if he communicates with other people through them.

These are machine responses, this is automation, and there is nothing here. A person wants to go out somewhere, to escape! But in which direction can he go?

And if not, then again: back to drugs, to some kind of reassurance, just to forget. Why are sport games so developed today? All governments want to shift the attention of the masses to football and other games. Occupy people! The main thing is to forget yourself. That is why such a large number of media outlets are aimed at this.

And if you look ahead, the development of technology does not stop, and billions more unemployed people will appear in the world, not millions, but billions of people with good qualifications who can do everything. And what to do?

With the help of new technologies, we will soon come to a state where 5% of the world’s population will be able to provide for everyone else. What is next? Overabundance on one hand. The lack of distribution on the other.

In general, we are in a state of misunderstanding the meaning of life. That is the most important thing we need to answer.

Question: You talk about a kind of global connection that thinking people detect and feel. Does this mean that if we don’t consciously reveal this connection, it is revealed by negative cataclysms, strikes, and perhaps even world wars?

Answer: That is absolutely right. Exactly! If we do not want to go the right way and act in unison, in harmony, in balance, with nature, then nature shows us the opposite.

In other words, the same formula is satisfied, only we participate in it as a negative element. All we had to do in nature was to come to balance with it. And now we are reaping the fruits of this imbalance in the form of all kinds of cataclysms.

It’s the same with a child: If he behaves well, his parents also treat him well, if he behaves badly, then his parents treat him badly. In fact, they treat him normally, it’s just that the correction of nature is set up that way.

Nature does not have any defined scheme. It has an absolutely clear system, and it is unchangeable. This is not some god who sits somewhere in the sky and commands as he wants, but a huge universal formula for global balance.

And we are getting more and more out of this balance. As we develop, we increasingly violate nature and our attitude toward it. Therefore, it naturally treats us the opposite way. We put ourselves in opposition to it, and we feel this opposition as all sorts of crises and problems.

People should understand that they need not suppress each other, but they need to start working with each other in real unity where not just borders between countries, but also all differences between people are canceled, when they begin to strive for connections with each other, try to eliminate all kinds of cultural and ethnic contradictions separating them, to reach mutual understanding that we are all one humanity, one Babylon, and we must come to mutual support, brotherhood, and mutual concessions.

Question: You are not talking about some external declarations that are fixed on paper and carry nothing internally, but about an internal message?

Answer: Not about the message, but about the realization of our inner connection, when it will be felt by the common nature. Only then will we get rid of all the problems that we cause by our imbalance with nature.

By hating others, I evoke a negative reaction from nature. It seems to us, what difference does it make if I hate someone or I have a conflict with someone. But by this I cause a negative reaction of nature on myself and on the rest of the world.

Comment: Two thousand years ago it was written in The Book of Zohar that the Earth is round.

My Response: It turns out that the unfortunate Giordano Bruno was burned, and the Kabbalists were sitting somewhere in silence.

The fact is that it was impossible to reveal this to people ahead of time, otherwise, all Kabbalists would have been burned. The Book of Zohar contains such things that humanity has discovered not only in the last two thousand years but there are those we have yet to discover. Still, we do not talk about them.

It is not necessary for a person to know more than he himself achieves through his work. As it is, we have revealed too much, it would have been better if we knew less. After all, most of our discoveries are not good for us.

We are not even trying to make ourselves better and naturally adapt nature for ourselves. We try to artificially clothe ourselves in some kind of cocoon and be independent of nature, independent of the Creator. It does not work.

We are constantly in a race of how to protect ourselves, how to secure ourselves. We nevertheless come to a failure.
