The Useless Services Of The Jews

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Jews have been persecuted throughout history. However, the charges against them are always different: the death of Jesus, the economy, politics, and world dominance. It seems illogical, since the reasons change all the time while the hatred remains.

The world is evolving and internalizing new values, such as tolerance and human rights. In the West, the religious hostility from the past no longer exists, but the hatred towards the Jews has not lost its fervor.

In the background facts are distorted, sometimes completely unrealistically. They blame us for things that have no relationship with reality and even such things that cause real damage to us. Our footprints are found in a wide range of disasters and there are an endless number of fabrications.

Disproportionate reactions to the Jewish question have become a tradition. Thirty-five percent of the decisions of the UN Human Rights Council condemn Israel, 60% of the emergency meetings of the UN General Assembly are convened against Israel and 70% of the current decisions are devoted to Israel.

In the past year, a UN translator forgot to turn off her microphone and expressed herself regarding the strange obsession of the world community in connection to Israel while other nations are encountering innumerable problems.

In brief, Israel focuses the attention of the world upon itself as a negative factor that invites general revulsion and hatred.

It is even more surprising considering the background of the investment of Jews in many different areas of world development.

As we have previously indicated, the nations of the world feel a fundamental and internal opposition towards the Jewish people in whose possession are two forces—bestowal and reception—while they themselves only hold onto the egoistic force of reception.

So our acts of kindness and charity don’t interest anyone. Unconsciously we are waiting for the world to recognize our service, “Look at how much benefit we have brought.” However, this benefit is not taken into account and is irrelevant, and nobody is even asking us for these favors. Instead and on the contrary, people feel that we are the bearers of evil. They really feel this.

It would seem that everything is clear: Our Nobel Prizes and the rest of the awards present as irrefutable proof, whereas our harm is dished out in the form of baseless libel and slander. And even so, everyone believes in the negativity and doesn’t take the positive into account.

The time has come for us to understand this approach of the nations and understand that they demand something else from us. They demand that we make their lives better.

Who Is To Blame For The Arab Turmoil?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Today, Israeli Arabs to some extent feel that they are second-class citizens. How exactly does the union among all Jewish citizens of Israel and the correct relationships between them help the Arabs get rid of the sensation of being harassed?

Answer: At the end of the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar”, Baal HaSulam writes that if the people of Israel correctly unite on the basis of mutual guarantee, in accordance with “do not do to others what you hate for yourself,” and “love thy neighbor as thyself,” then the force of unity will overflow from them as water from a full vessel and will spread to all the nations of the world. They will feel where the force of perfection comes from and will join the people of Israel.

We have to understand that it is about the only feasible influence of one part of the system upon the other and the impact of the people of Israel upon the nations of the world as a result of which they will stop considering themselves as “second-class” nations.

Every nation has certain needs and desires. We see people’s actions, but their feelings are much more important.

Many people want to be as Einstein, but I do not. I am not fascinated by him. However, I want to be as strong as my neighbor and not a titan of thought or power.

It’s not about internal sensations, nor whether or not other nations will be jealous of the fact that we have a special task in this world. No, they won’t. Will Arabs continue feeling that they are disadvantaged? Not any longer.

Today, they feel discriminated against because they don’t receive from us what they are supposed to. By blaming us for all their troubles, they in essence confirm that they depend on us, since we are entitled to do things which they are incapable of. However, we don’t play our role, and  thus we rob the world of benevolence.

All nations reproach us for the same reasons. Will we really be so surprised when a United Nations Organization Assembly comes to a consensus that Israel is guilty of all world problems, is a source of numerous international disasters, and has no more right to exist? In their eyes, the state of Israel is a wound that poisons the existence of the whole of humanity.

Our enemies feel the same way when they oppose our having weapons, such as machine guns, knives, and other armaments. In their minds, there is no other way out except to fight us. They think we have to be murdered and that only then, will all disasters stop.

At the same time, they don’t know that their whole future depends on us. They are not aware that we are the ones who can guarantee successful prospects to them. Nobody teaches them these things; we never convey this information to them since we are not aware of it ourselves.

So, we have to correct ourselves.

Let me reiterate. The nations of the world will consent to our actions when we start taking care of the general process of world correction. They will immediately agree to this fact.

Let’s fantasize that if today the Jews of Israel launch a good, benevolent connection among us, all disasters will immediately disappear. By connecting, we’ll involve the general system of humanity and will neutralize the evil forces inside it.

Then, those who are currently planning to run over innocent people at bus-stops will suddenly feel that everything is just fine with them, that something has changed, that they feel benevolence, and that good forces are acting within society.

Accordingly, they would suddenly feel a desire to make friends with the Jews: it happens that it is quite possible to have peaceful interactions with those people. Besides, aren’t we cousins? Why can’t we get along with them?

Question: From where will potential terrorists receive these thoughts?

Answer: The new approach will come from the same source from which an idea to murder the Jews showed up. It will emerge because of the overall unbalance in the world that we (the Jews) cause in the general system. The people of Israel don’t synchronize the two opposite forces, the plus and the minus. However, this nation is the only one that is capable of achieving stability.

To begin with, all Jews have to unite with each other until they become friends as it is stated in the principle “love your neighbor as yourself.”

Then, the intensity of our unity will overflow, just as water spills out of an overly full vessel. They will accept this fact naturally and won’t feel that they are second class citizens any longer. In a wholesome, perfect, healthy system, it’s not possible to have more or less important or more or less dignified parts. An ankle cell is equal to a brain cell.

Question: So, how will this appeal penetrate the hearts of those who are ready to commit acts of terrorism?

Answer: All humanity is interconnected through their hearts, and thus, we are united with each other. That’s why there is nothing we need except unity. We won’t even have to explain this idea to them. The same system that now demonstrates that we are the ones who bring the evil to others will also serve the purpose and convey the sensation that we have started bringing them benevolence instead of evil.

These impulses cannot be stopped. They are the ones that influence humans and not the other way around, since these impulses flow from the head to the body.

Let’s turn into a unity named Israel (ישראל), meaning the head for me (Li Rosh – לי ראש), directly to the Upper (Yashar-El). This means directly to perfection in which we have to live together with the rest of humanity and the entire reality, as the whole universe in unity with the Creator, the general upper force.

Let’s exert ourselves to achieve this state. Then, the entire world will follow us. As soon as we begin acting as a head, the rest of the world will support us.

Stop blaming others. The Torah and other Kabbalistic books and all original sources state that we are the only ones who have the ability to really make changes. Only we are entitled to translate the overall human development from the bad path to the good one.

In the end, this is what we actually are obligated to do. This is something the nations of the world are expecting from us. Let’s fulfill our duty.

Preventing A Third Intifada, Part 3

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom the moment the wisdom of Kabbalah was revealed to a group of people called the Israeli nation, this nation became responsible for everything that happens to humanity and to all of nature in general.

Israel is responsible for every process in the general evolution and for the fact that all of nature should go through different, perfect phases in the course of advancing towards the ultimate goal.

If there is any distortion and this form is no longer perfect, it is Israel’s fault. They then must feel the stronger influence of the forces that evoke it, forcing it to wake up and bring all of humanity to a state of harmony once more..

This is the perspective from which we have to look at all problems, especially current problems and every event in the entire history of humanity. We should understand that all the intifadas and the anti-Semitism in the world stem from our delay and from our insufficient participation in the evolutionary process of the world. We should have started to pull everyone towards connection and unity a long time ago, starting with all of the Israeli nation and then all of humanity. We should have helped humanity become more connected and united and closer to the perfect ultimate form.

Question: Why do you think we are in a delay?

Answer: We can see it by the pressure that is put on the Israeli nation. The Israeli nation is a clear index. If there is an eruption of violence, it means that we are behind in our correction. We actually summon the imbalance of the positive and the negative forces that cannot reach a state of balance between them by our delay and our refusal to bring the system to a state of harmony at any given moment.

All of humanity is in the middle between these pluses and minuses, between the evil inclination and bestowal, the Creator, and the pressures that affect all of humanity and through it, the Israeli nation. It is actually Israel who has to bring all the others to the perfect form.

This is the reason that it hurts me so to see the eruption of terror, but we have to understand that we are the only ones to blame for what is happening. All the nations of the world only carry out the orders of nature’s forces. They have no freewill and they don’t determine anything. This is the reason that we cannot expect them to correct the situation.

It is fundamentally wrong to expect that the Americans or the Europeans will be able to bring peace to the world or that the Arabs will suddenly change by themselves. We have to think only about how we, Israel, take command and control of nature’s forces and arrange the connection within our own nation.

We are not required to establish connections with anyone, neither the Israeli Arabs, nor with our Arab neighbors or the UN. We don’t need to think about others in order to do our job. This work is done within the Israeli nation. But to the extent that we connect among us internally, the power of this wholeness, the unity, the connection and the love, will pour through us unto the whole world and all of humanity will suddenly begin to calm down and connect.

Then the whole world will come out of the global crisis it is in and all the disputes in the UN and all over the world will come to an end and everyone will quiet down, unite, and hug. It will be a wonderful good state, one great global commune, and it all depends on how the Israeli nation establishes the internal relations between its people.

Preventing A Third Intifada, Part 2

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe wisdom of Kabbalah reveals the plan of creation, the upper forces, to us. We discover that they are actually one unique force that operates on us, on all of reality, and which influences us in many different ways.

Thus humanity understands how it can affect its fate. It is impossible to change the actual process that leads us from the initial state to the ultimate state, but we can hasten it, understand it, and participate in it consciously with all our hearts and minds. Thus we are incorporated in it with all our feelings and sensations on different levels of our perception and our participation.

First, we can incorporate in it only by passively observing what is going on without really understanding. But later this incorporation becomes increasingly more active.

The ultimate state determines that all of humanity will achieve unity in perfect harmony by attaching to the whole world on the levels of the still, vegetative, the animate, and all the forces of nature that are revealed to us today and those that are yet to be revealed.

Therefore, we should see how we can connect and unite as much as we can among us and with the whole of nature, on the still, vegetative, and animate levels in the state we are in now on this level..

This means that we should worry about the unity of all of human society and about a healthy ecology and a healthy connection with the environment in order to bring us all to harmony and to good mutual connections.

Once we establish such a harmonious sphere, the very next moment this sphere will change its form and become an ellipse and we will have to correct it again and make it into a sphere, because a sphere is the perfect form for the total connection.

This sphere will become deformed over and over again and we have to constantly bring it back to the harmonious state. Keeping harmony in every state is the ideal way to advance by participating in the natural evolutionary process.

Question: What conclusions can we draw from this regarding our current state in order to prevent the eruption of terror on the part of the Arab citizens in Israel?

Answer: I approach the problem globally. It may be an intifada, different types of anti-Semitism, wars, natural disasters, typhoons, or tsunamis. If we discover a phenomenon that disrupts the perfect harmony at any given moment, it is a sign that we are not keeping nature in the correct state.

It is our duty to keep it in a state of harmony. The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us that it depends on the Israeli nation, on the group that Abraham founded. Of all of humanity, he chose those who can influence the right form of humanity and each time, bring it to a state of harmony..

It turns out that one small part of humanity called Israel, which stands for Li Rosh (my head), determines how all the other nations will behave and to what extent they will connect into one round sphere.

Abraham gathered these special people and founded a group and passed on the method to them, the knowledge, and the reins to lead humanity. Since then, the whole evolutionary process depends on the Israeli nation. New people can join it if they feel that they belong to this process and to this idea and this is how the evolutionary process of the world goes on.

Israel: Hope For A New Life

Being Like Everyone Else Isn’t Our Nature

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is the current return of the Jewish people to the land of Israel a natural phase?

Answer: Of course.

Question: Why should they return to this land in particular?

Answer: We don’t understand it yet. However, people who are on a spiritual level understand the differences and the uniqueness of the spiritual root in each of the created beings, including animals, and moreover, of the different regions of the earth.

So despite the fact that the land here is not fertile and there is nothing “holy” about it, it is still dominated by certain spiritual forces, just like a branch that grows from a spiritual root.

Question: What should we do about the strong Arab resistance?

Answer: It is perfectly natural. After all, if we have returned to this land, we have to return to our spiritual roots. In other words, we have to fulfill the condition of love thy friend as thyself. It is on the basis of this condition that we came here ages ago. Moses brought us to the borders of this land and passed away on its border. Then his disciple, Joshua, led us.

We reached this land and when we settled here, we had to set an example for all of humanity, and to show what a nation that lives correctly in its land should be like. Then we began to build the Temple and fulfill this mission.

However, our actions today are totally opposite from what we have to do and consequently, of course, we are constantly confronted with troubles from our close and distant neighbors.

Question: Why was the Arab environment given this role?

Answer: This was written ages ago when Abraham fathered Ishmael and sent him away with Hagar. From that time onwards, there is a kind of “competition” between the two brothers Isaac and Ishmael. There is nothing we can do about it; the conflict will be even greater, but it should be fulfilled on the spiritual level.

This means that as a nation we have to ascend to the level of love of others, be in good relations with one another, and set an example for all of humanity. In that case, we will immediately see how everything around us calms down. First our cousins the Arabs and then the whole world will quiet down and the anger and hatred in the world will cease.

The nations of the world will then understand that there is something that they really need here and that they can receive the method for the revival of the soul from us, which is the knowledge that can make them eternal beings. They will begin to realize that we can lead them to a better life, not just in this world, but to exit it to a totally different dimension, beyond the frameworks of this world. It all depends only on us and I think that we will reach it.

Question: Does this mean that there is one meaning to all the complaints we hear against us?

Answer:  They are only meant to unite and connect us. If our neighbors didn’t pressure us, we would destroy one another and never unite, even on the level we are on today. The external pressure on us, the rigidity and hatred, all depend only on the mutual repulsion we feel towards one another. Generally speaking, we actually determine the level of hatred that the nations of the world feel towards us.

Question: So unconsciously the nations of the world want to oblige us to be the teachers of humanity?

Answer: Yes. This is how all of humanity relates to us. All their hatred is only so that we will eventually understand that we have to do something and that wanting to be like them, like everyone, is a silly “trick.” This philosophy, this approach, takes us completely in the wrong direction.

Spinoza’s origin, the rebellion against the independent uniqueness is not our root. Of course, it was forbidden to remain on the previous level in those times, since the time had come for the spiritual development, spiritual not in the sense that humanity imagined but according to our roots.

Comment: But on the other hand, you spoke about the fact that the Jews also led the conceptual development of all of humanity in Babylon.

Answer: They should have led it a long time ago, during the exodus from ancient Babylon. If everything had gone smoothly, spirituality should have spread widely after the First Temple, and gradually all the nations of the world would have accepted the method of the revelation of the Creator. They would have united and everything would have ended there. But that was impossible because the Babylonians didn’t yet have the root that humanity needed. They had to receive it and it was possible to receive it only when the Jewish nation was shattered and dispersed among them.

The New Barbarism

Dr. Michael LaitmanWho would have thought that the atrocities and anti-Semitism like we are witnessing today could take place in the 21st century and lead humanity to such a miserable state in which it seems to be sinking into a dark abyss once again? It is as if our ego is dropping and our mind is totally lost, thus annulling all of humanity’s experience and its whole existence for ages.

Savagery is raising its head again. It seemed there was a time when we learned something after so many centuries and so many mistakes! But no, barbarism is once again revealed and moreover, it is on a totally different level and disregards anything else. This is taking place together with an unprecedented development of weapons that can destroy all of humanity. Will we be able to achieve order by using them now?

Why is it so? The age of enlightenment has passed and everyone  saw the way to future happiness. But today we have descended much lower in the level of our values and expectations.

100 to 150 years ago studying, science, art, and culture in general were valued and respected. People in their sixties still remember masterpieces of poetry and literature and evenings of discussions and debates. If a person wasn’t interested in that, he was considered ignorant. He was ashamed to admit that he didn’t read or participate in these activities.

A young person’s goal was to absorb all the pearls of humanity and its cultural achievements. Science may not have attracted everyone, but there was a general acceptance of the demand for culture, which appealed to everyone.

Moreover, absorbing culture was supposed to be in such a way that it would make something out of you and educate you so that people would see that you were intelligent. While in the 1930’s this was shameful, it was respected in the 1960’s.

At the same time it, was shameful to show that you were physically strong. On the contrary, if a person was skinny and weak, but looked like an intellectual, he was a model for others. Girls admired him and not other types.

When I was a student, authors like Vazenski and Yavtushenko were still young and new. Literature was on the rise, and poets like Akodjeba and Wisotzky were born before our very eyes.

I was also part of a small group in Leningrad and participated in literary, artistic, and musical clubs. Looking hopefully at the bright future of humanity, we couldn’t imagine that barbarism would return and that people would kill one another without even counting the casualties.

In short, not long ago, everything was just the opposite, but the following decades brought about terrible imbalances. Half a century has passed and everything has totally changed in a way that no one could ever have thought possible.

We see that the laws of nature are fixed. They are revealed to us alternately, displaying the same pictures so that we will learn from all these transformations and see what is important: that we must understand these laws and use them correctly. We cannot simply flow with the current, but rather we must apply these laws and not wait for a better brighter future. We must build it with everyone beginning with oneself.

The Jews Were, Are And Will Be Blamed For Everything

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom M. Brushtein:

During those recent hot days, the Hamas missiles, accompanied by alarms, regularly visited the entire territory of the nation of Israel. In the meantime, the anti-missile system, the Iron Dome, was successful in intercepting those uninvited guests. Then the IDF initiated a ground operation.

Along with this, deep within our hearts, everyone understood that there was no military, political or other rational solution to this problem. It was possible to try to diminish the problem on the agenda, to confuse everyone or pretend that it didn’t exist, but there was no true solution, and there won’t be.

Why is it impossible to convince, relax, or ultimately annihilate those who hate Israel? It is because everyone feels, or at least assumes, that Israel/Jews always are to blame for everything.

The Jews were, are, and will be to blame for everything. They all are to blame, even those who are only about to be born. The Jews are to blame for establishing the Soviet police, and they also are to blame for destroying this police. The Jews who leave are to blame for leaving, and the Jews who stay are to blame for staying. (V. Boinovich, Russian author, poet and playwright)

There are those who think that people learned a lesson from the Holocaust. Certainly now, everyone in the world hates the Zionists and not the Jews. They hate Israel and everything related to it.

A little while ago, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) published a statistical report on the level of anti-Semitism. According to their data, more than a quarter of the population of the globe feels great hostility towards the Jews. In simple words, they are anti-Semites. The statistics are wrong because there are many more anti-Semites. Simply, some admit it and some still don’t.

All of the people among which we live, all of them together and each one separately are anti-Semites, expressed or implied. (Chaim Weitzmann, first president of the nation of Israel).

Both the Jews and those who are not Jews ultimately must recognize that the source of this attitude toward the Jews is beyond all rational understanding.

Who, for example, at the end of the forties, would seriously and openly preach that hatred of the Jews would be similar to what is happening today in Germany? (Historical Literary Collection).

Guess when these lines were published. Was it in the year 2014? Maybe it was in 1980, but no, it was in the year 1880. Also, a hundred years ago and a thousand years ago, the attitude toward Jews has not changed. In the best of circumstances, people tolerated them, and, at worst, they would annihilate them. Behind all of our attempts to find a logical reason for hatred toward the Jews is concealed the hope of finding a rational solution to this problem.

It is worthwhile to stop searching for logical solutions and, on the contrary, try to search for something illogical.

Anti-Semitism is irrational and is not subject to the dictates of reason”(George Orwell, English author and journalist).

In the year 1940, the first (and evidently the last) edition of the newspaper, The Nation, was published. An excerpt from the article:

“This newspaper The Nation is a new creation. It is a type of creature that is born in distress, in difficult and terrible birth pangs: from the poison of hatred that empowered the nations of the world to annihilate us from the face of the earth, the threat of extinction of millions of our brothers, and still their hands are outstretched—this sadistic creation in them knows no satisfaction. And further, the disaster doubles; we cannot delude ourselves that all of this is only a temporary passing phenomenon.” (Baal HaSulam).

And this is what this author writes about the solution to the problem:

“So, I said that we need to arrange a unique education for ourselves through a widespread campaign, to insert into each one of us feelings of a national love touching from one individual to another and from these individuals to the whole, to restore and reveal the national love that was implanted among us when we were on our land as a nation among nations. And this work comes before anything else, for besides its being fundamental—it also gives stature and success to all kinds of activities that we want to do in this field.” (Baal HaSulam).

A solution like this will confuse every normal person. What is the connection between what happened to European Jewry and the education for national love among the Jews who live in the land of Israel? It is true that we don’t see a direct connection, and, on the other hand, we say that there is no direct and rational connection to the Jewish problem.

The person who suggested this illogical solution Baal HaSulam (Rabbi Yehudah Ashlag, 1884-1954), was the greatest Kabbalist of the 20th century. He wrote the commentary on The Book of Zohar. It is interesting that a similar solution to the problem has been suggested not only by Kabbalists, but by anti-Semites.

“An obligation is imposed upon the Jewish people to fulfill the ancient prophecies that establish that all of the nations of the world will be blessed through them, and for this, they are obligated to begin to carry out this new service.” (Henry Ford, American automobile manufacturer, printed and distributed the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”)

And so we are obliged to clarify which prophecies he is talking about.

“For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:24-26.).

Whatever it may be, our historical experience proves that the problem of anti-Semitism has existed and still exists. Not only our neighbors, but all the nations of the world will not leave us alone. The rational solution is peace for the territory in exchange for something else which we won’t accept, which everybody knows. Is it perhaps worthwhile to try and solve this problem irrationally, as Baal HaSulam writes? If others believe it, why shouldn’t we believe it?

“I believe that a wonderful future will be revealed for the Jews, not as a nation managed by someone, but as the realization of the great ideals of our civilization.” (Harry Truman, 33rd President of the United States).

Love Will Defeat Crisis

3. On the planet, there is a strange people that were created during the very first crisis in the Babylonian civilization. The principle of “love thy neighbor as thyself,” on the basis of which this people was created, everyone likes, but no one can realize.

About the laws, there is nothing more to add. They speak for themselves for they are visible in their own nature, and appear to teach not impiety, but the truest piety in the world. They do not make men hate one another, but encourage people to communicate what they have to one another freely; they are enemies to injustice, they take care of righteousness, they banish idleness and expensive living, and instruct men to be content with what they have, and to be laborious in their calling; they forbid men to make war from a desire of getting more, but make men courageous in defending the laws; they are inexorable in punishing malefactors; they admit no sophistry of words, but are always established by actions themselves, which actions we ever propose as surer demonstrations than what is contained in writing only: on which account I am so bold as to say that we are become the teachers of other men, in the greatest number of things. (Flavius Josephus, Jewish historian,  Against Apion)

This nation has a national identity and self-esteem; it does not lose heart and works, and wants to live like others, in close brotherly friendship with everyone.” (Maxim Gorky, Russian Soviet writer)

To them we owe the idea of equality before the law, both divine and human; of the sanctity of life and the dignity of human persons; of the individual conscience and so a personal redemption; of collective conscience and so of social responsibility; of peace as an abstract ideal and love as the foundation of justice, and many other items which constitute the basic moral furniture of the human mind. Without Jews it might have been a much emptier place. (Paul Johnson, English journalist and popular historian, A History of the Jews)

4. Anti-Semitism, an aversion to the “strange” people, is a phenomenon that has no rational explanation.

It is enough to see oneself a Jew in a dream to make the most cheerful subject shudder in dread and send impotent curses to fate.” (Mikhail E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, 1826 – 1889, one of Russia’s greatest satirists).

Anti-Semitism is contained in the genes. German scientists have found that the level of anti-Semitism in certain states of Germany has not changed for centuries.

The highest percentage of anti-Jewish sentiments today —it is shared by 30-38% of the population—is noted where the strongest pogroms took place in the 19th and 20th centuries, and in 1938. (7Kanal, Israel).

The year 2012 was called in the report: the “year of unprecedented violence against Jews in France.” There were 614 anti-Semitic incidents, compared to 389 of such cases in 2011. (7Kanal, Israel).

Antisemitism – History Repeats Itself

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from the Jerusalem Post): “Executive director of the Kings Bay Y in Brooklyn, was attacked by a pro-Palestinian protester following the exhibition basketball game between the NBA’s Nets and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

“Petlakh said he required eight stitches and his nose was broken after being punched on Wednesday while exiting the Barclays Center arena following the Nets’ 111-94 victory.

“Fans verbally sparred inside the arena as the game was ending when pro-Palestinian protesters began shouting slogans and a pro-Israel fan grabbed a Palestinian flag from one of the protesters, according to Petlakh.

“As the crowds spilled out of the arena and onto the street, one of the protesters took a swing at Petlakh, who was with his 14 and 10-year-old sons. The assailant ran away and Petlakh sought medical care. He reported the incident to the police, who are investigating the attack as a hate crime.”

My Comment: I can only say one thing and that is that one hundred years later history repeats itself. Before WWII, Baal HaSulam warned of impending tragedy and offered the only means: uniting the Jewish people for the revelation of the Creator and attracting the whole of humanity to this action.

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Children in the Diaspora usually go to Jewish schools called Hebrew school. These are special schools that are open on Sunday, where children learn Hebrew, Jewish history, and Jewish customs. Let’s try to imagine a school where unity is taught. What should it look like? What will happen there?

Answer: People learn there by connection, by playing connection games and by having discussions in circles. Of course, children also engage in physical activities like games with balls, etc., but they don’t play against each other, only together.

We must develop games that are not based on competition between individuals and between teams. Instead, a person has to compete against himself in order to properly be incorporated within the common activity and to see himself as his own competitor.

This doesn’t apply only to children, because the parents also have a problem. They must be taught the principles of family life and how to impart to their children a general, integral attitude towards that world.

The relevant issues should be discussed in circles where everyone connects and then the discussion should be continued and expanded at home.

Question: Is this what will make a child Jewish?

Answer: Of course, since a Jew is someone who yearns for unity and connection with everyone. A Jew is someone who knows that his role in life is to be a Light unto the nations and to bring correction to the world through connection. This is especially true in our times, in the time of the global crisis when there is no other remedy but the connection between all the parts of reality, in perfect harmony, in one circle.

Generally speaking, it isn’t about a Jewish school, but about a social community school where the whole family comes to practice connection. When they perform these exercises, they feel that suddenly a certain power surrounds them and changes their perception of reality so that the world seems different.

Connections and relationships begin to change internally under the effect of the force of the unity that is invoked by the Light, and it raises people to a new level of understanding. They begin to see the world as they have never seen it before, as if they wearing glasses that brings into focus the fogginess and blurriness of their nearsightedness, and they become as one connected picture, stretches into the distance.

This is exactly the feeling that both children and adults will feel, starting from their very first workshop.

Question: Will this connection help overcome the gaps between them?

Answer: The connection will not only help, but will also solve all problems. The connection gives us power, not in order to overcome hardships and to win, since when we are united, there is no one to defeat. The unity between us does all the work and drives away all our enemies, all the interferences, illnesses, and problems, everything that comes from self love.

At the same time, there is no need to give up our opinions and our beliefs, but only to add our exertion in order to connect with the whole nation, with all of Israel; that’s all.

This is what the Torah and current research of connection the wisdom of the crowd tell us. The Israeli nation must be the first to connect. Otherwise the force of connection will not be able to go through it to the nations of the world.

Question: Why is it the Israeli nation that has to pave this path?

Answer: Not everyone agrees that we are special, but history proves it is so. We are special because the whole world depends on us. Although this connection is invisible for the time being, the nations of the world do feel it. There are those who believe that their lives would be much better without us, but there are others who know that we need to change and that this change will be for the benefit of the world.
