Toward Bestowal

261Question: What is spiritual action?

Answer: Spiritual action is any action that we perform for the sake of spiritual elevation.

Question: Does it mean that I need to form an intention within myself to bestow to the Creator and to be in bestowal to the Creator through others? How can I give the Creator the opportunity to fill this connection?

Answer: We ask Him to help us feel the importance of our intentions, how and in what way we can turn them toward bestowal to the Creator.

Question: If a person strives not to deceive himself in his actions, can he be confident that he is performing actions for the sake of bestowal?

Answer: In principle, no one can be fully confident. But we can hope that in accordance with our desires, prayers, requests, and actions, we will be assigned to the side of bestowal and become givers.

Is it Possible to Check Intention?

249.02Question: Is it possible to check the intention so as no to make a mistake?

Answer: Of course, you need to check in order to see why you have certain intentions and how much you are working on this together with the group. You need to be more connected with others, which will allow you to clarify all questions on the spiritual path more quickly.

Question: How exactly can one check the intention?

Answer: You can discuss this within the group or with the Creator. Simply examine: for what, why, for what reason, for what purpose I did something, am I doing it, or plan to do something in the future? When I lay out my plans in this way, I can determine why I am doing it, what it gives me, or what I hope for.

Question: How can you maintain the right balance between explicit actions and internal work on intention?

Answer: First of all take care of the intention and then action. Then everything will be fine.

Clarify the Correct Relationship

530Question: How do good relationships between us reveal the Creator?

Answer: The mutual assistance you wish to provide each other connects you, and a vessel (Kli) is formed in your ten. In this case, then the Creator can positively influence you. However, if you do not treat each other well, the Creator will not influence you.

So build the correct relationships between you—a Kli—and you will quickly begin to feel the presence of the Creator.

There Are No Fewer than Ten in Spirituality

544Comment: When I connect with a friend there is an awareness of evil. I understand that I am causing harm and I want to correct it. Therefore, I ask to be given the force of bestowal so that I can help my friend.

My Response: You are asking for yourself anyway. It does not matter that you are hiding behind some good words. You are asking for yourself!

You must ask for the ten; this is the most important thing. Because in spirituality anything less than ten does not exist. There is a filter there where only ten can pass. Ten means even two if they are correctly connected with each other. Ten is a Partzuf.

Question: So the Creator gives me the recognition of evil, and I abstract myself from this feeling and still ask for my friends even if I feel bad myself or if I feel like I am a bad element?

Answer: Without a doubt. How can you think and ask for yourself if you feel bad? Why does the Creator make you feel bad?

Comment: Yes, I feel that I am harming the group by doing this.

My Response: This should be expressed differently: are you asking for yourself, for the group, or for the Creator?

Baal HaSulam writes: “One must not exclude oneself from the public and ask for oneself, not even to bring contentment to one’s maker.” That is, one must think about the soul! After all, all actions on the part of the Creator are needed only to show us how shattered our soul is. Therefore, all requests should only be about connecting the ten in order to influence the Creator through it.

Arvut In the Ten

938.01Question: What is Arvut in the ten?

Answer: You make an alliance with each other that you will go together as one person with one heart to the Creator and combine your efforts to force the Creator to reveal Himself to you. This is what we have to do. Then each of you will get whatever everyone receives together.

Question: How do we make this alliance? Are we making an agreement or signing something?

Answer: No, you do not discuss much. You simply become a group that combines all your aspirations for the Creator into one whole, and the Creator responds to it.

Question: There is always an issue with such an alliance, because some keep it in the ten and others do not. How can we make this a common force?

Answer: You must work on this, unite with each other and build your connection so the Creator would surely reveal Himself in it. The Creator reveals Himself only in the similarity of qualities. If you have the right, kind attitude toward each other, the Creator can already reveal Himself.

Question: There are certain rules Kabbalists must observe: come to the morning lesson every day, pay maaser, and participate in dissemination. Is this what we are talking about when we talk about Arvut?

Answer: Yes, about that too

Question: What is the minimum framework for us to come to the Creator to uphold Arvut?

Answer: To do so, you must treat each other exactly as you would treat the Creator.

Question: There are different people in the ten: some come to class every day, some do not. Does this count as Arvut?

Answer: In general, this is Arvut, but not a complete one.

Reveal All the Flavors in The Torah

509Question: At first, a person asks for taste in the Torah in order to overcome all the obstacles, and the Creator really gives it. Over time, should one come to the request to work without taste at all in order to come to pure bestowal?

Answer: Working without taste is a very high degree. But for now, this is not required of us.

On the contrary, we must try to reveal all the tastes in the Torah in order to get as close as possible to it and to the Creator who is concealed in the Torah.

Question: In the end, should any taste bring joy, even if it is some kind of bitter taste?

Answer: Yes, but the bitter taste is already a step. It is no longer a demand placed upon us. Right now, we need to feel the sweet taste of the Torah and the closeness between us. Then we will move forward and, regardless of any tastes, strive to be closer to each other.

Merit Connection with the Creator

209Question: What does entering into a connection with the Creator mean?

Answer: It means that I promise not to break our close connection, to only increase it, and to stand guard so that it does not disappear or deteriorate.

Question: Why can a person merit an eternal union with the Creator?

Answer: Much has been written about this. Because this is his root, this is his most valuable, most internal, eternal, and special power connecting him with the Creator. Through this, he influences the Creator, and the Creator influences him. So this is very important for a person.

Question: Even before entering into connection, how can we awaken the love that shines from the past and carry it into the future?

Answer: Do not stop. Constantly develop and constantly think about it.

Become a Transitional Link

938.04Question: What does a corrected connection in Israel mean?

Answer: It is a desire for bestowal.

Question: If Israel is a means that must fill the Kelim of the nations of the world, how do I come to this both in feelings and in mind? How do I get the desire to become a transitional link?

Answer: It doesn’t matter how well you understand whether you are a transitional link or not. The main thing is that you strive for it, and the Creator makes it happen.
